The lag happens when I hit the home button in order to go back to the home screen from any app, I'm not talking about waking the phone since the phone wakes up fast enough. This has been a long running issue with the galaxies and usually disabling "Open Via Home Key" on S Voice fixed it but on this device (G800F) I've done just that but the lag it's still there. I think there's less of a lag now but the home button's response it's still not as fast as I'm used to. Does anyone know how to fix it other than installing a third party OS? If I have to disable an app to do it I will (disabled S voice but that didn't help matters).

Hello,
I was wondering if there is some way to track what is happening on my phone? Since my screen stops working when waked up from standby. i.e. if i press the button at the top to standby and then when i press it again and reach the lock screen the touchscreen is not working, it is simply not registering touch and neither are the 4 small buttons on the bottom (back, settings, home, search). However, the OS in itself is still running as I think since I can still see the time move and if I hold the off button the menu comes up for reboot etc.
Anyone heard of anything like this or any tips how to solve this? I am rooted and running CM6 I think at the moment.
Thank you,
Svarto

so the only way to escape this is by pulling the battery and rebooting? when you do reboot and dont go in standby, the touchscreen works fine?
You can check the issue using logcat and /proc/kmsg.
Also, you can read my threads on the subject, describing the same error with logs, and see if your logs are the same.
I'm currently trying to check if the error repeats itself after full wipe and starting from scratch. In the meantime it didn't show up until I applied a theme, and then after reflashing the ROM it's gone again - I'm still checking, only a day has passed.
Yes, the only solution is to pull out the battery and reboot. Then it works fine and I can go in and out of standby. I havent found a particular pattern to it happening so it is hard to reproduce.
I will have a look at that logcat and your other thread!
Just to guide you - when it happens to me, the phone gets stuck with mmc0 access that receives "CRC error" reply and doesn't go through. Pressing power button for a long time several times and playing with trackball / touching the screen between presses "releases" the "lock", and you'll be able to work with the phone again until you put it to sleep again. If you turn WiFi and BT off and then back on - the problem seems to disappear.
Since the update to 5.0 it seems like every time I hit the home button I get this annoying pop up asking me which home screen to use. I have hit the Damn always button about 10000 times and now it's just annoying the **** out of me anyone know of a fix?

I do not know how to fix that, but you might be able to use a different launcher and see if that solves it. It's an easy bandaid if it works.
Chris
OK so I downloaded nova launcher and after opening it seen that the Hotmail app might give nova a problem so I Uninstalled it and now have no issues
I found a new and useful app on Play Store. It's called easyHome for Samsung and it let you simply touch the fingerprint scanner instead of pressing the home button. Also, with the pro version, you can turn off the display with a long touch.
I'm trying it and it's really nice. Anyway the long press of home button is unusable, because if you long press the home button to start google now, when you leave the button the app recognizes a long press and shut down the screen. I'm also concerned about fingerprint life and battery drain because now it's always active.
Let me know what you think about it

Just installed. So far so good.

Good app but I have found it works inconsistently so I have uninstalled.
I've played with it a little. It's nice when it works, but it's not consistent. Especially the paid long press feature doesn't work well, many times a normal tap triggered it.
The problem is the timing. When doing a tap, it seems to register as being a long-press even though it was fairly quick. To get the tap to register consistently, you have to barely touch the button.
These timings need to be adjusted. Even better would be an option within the app to set the timing ourselves.
it keeps my phone awake all the time :/

Yes. Battery drain is the main reason I uninstalled it. Devs says they're working on it, but nothing new.
I appreciate the screen off function on long press. I'm actually looking for a good alternative to turn off the screen.
Hi there,
My Home button press function (mechanical) having some bad contacts and every minutes my phone xiaomi mi5 awakes from sleep mode, lowering my battery life.
Today it s even worse, it closes the app i using for returning to the home screen.
I wish to find a way to completely disable the press home button mechanical function, the fingerprint recon is ok, and the touch home button too.
I hope some of you will find a way to resolve my issue.
Thx.
same problem since last 2 months
if anyone can suggest some solution, it would be really helpful.
flash RR.Enable software keys and disable hardware keys on customization menu on settings
The problem resolved by itself, it must been some moisture that was stuck in it.
About weeks later it s now so fully functional.
Hi there,
My home button often stops responding. It will appear pressed correctly but doesn't actually go home. Sometimes the back and switch window buttons also don't respond, but that's less common. This happens about once a day.
The screen is fine as the buttons visually change to show I've tapped them, but they simply do nothing.
I can always fix it by restarting. It's only been happening on 12.1 v61 firmware.
There's no physical damage to the phone, it's in mint condition.
Any ideas? Anyone else having this?
I'm hoping the next software update fixes it because it's super annoying.
Thanks!
Global power management will cause erratic behaviors. A 3rd party app, does it happen in safe mode? Any apps installed or uninstalled before this happened?
Clear the system cache if you have this option.
