Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Huawei P9 Lite, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Huawei P9 Lite is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I currently have a Moto G (3rd Gen) model with XenonHD 7.1.1 firmware. I was interested in the P9 Lite 3GB RAM model as an upgrade from this phone. What do you think? Is it worth the upgrade? Btw I am planning to root/flash the firmware that comes with it anyway, but what are you thoughts overall? Hardware? Software?
P9 lite is better at performance than P8 lite 2017
Well, the development strength is nowhere near a Qualcomm device, but I see OpenKirin and other people trying to get things going which is very nice. Maybe more android enthusiasts will buy Huawei, maybe Huawei will start to provide source code when it's needed...
I love the design of the phone, the hardware is OK, the only thing that disappoints me is that they released a model with 2GB RAM which was handed to carriers, so if you got the P9 Lite from a carrier like me you won't get that extra 1GB RAM which is a pretty huge deal if you ask me. Other than that, I'm satisfied with it.
Will I buy Huawei again? If they become more open sourced maybe... The design is nice, the hardware is good, the only thing they should be improving is the software and developer relations.

Get the Redmi Note 4 3GB(snapdragon not mtk). Performance is good, and plenty of roms. Go check xda of rn4 right now
I learned how much I like my P9 Lite when it was stolen :crying:

Yes, I think it is worth the upgrade The hardware is good, EMUI comes with too much bloatware in my opinion - some camera features and the backup app are great though. The flashing process can be quirky - unfortunately the use of last resort DC Phoenix comes with charges.
Low price, nice features phone!
P9 lite is a great device with battery and performance at a great price.
However, you can go for HONOR 5C. It's similar to p9 lite in terms of specs.
The difference between those 2 is Honor 5c having a metal body.
The software is just something that really ruins this phone and it's potential
Freezes most of the time when using any app, camera takes forever to load. Using stock rom, not rooted.

I think you have a serious problem. I own p9 lite 2017 and it's smooth and fluid. Overal beeter then other brands for the same budget
Don't buy a huawei phone at all.
I absolutely love my original P9 lite, i have it for almost 3 yrs now and its really one of the best phones i've experienced (99,99% bug/glitch/error free).. Battery life is still amazing getting me trough a whole day and still performs fast and "fluid" even after 3 yrs and the screen quality is beautiful and top notch. I find it funny that this phone has all the great features, more than the newest generation smartphones these days.. features like FM Radio, NFC, 3.5 headphone-jack, excellent fingerprint reader etc etc
Would you say that the Huawei P10 is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Huawei P10 exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Its fast compare to my old iPhone 6. But it's not so stable compare to my older device.
Its keyboard is a failure, keeps lagging and delay whenever I typed too fast, have to install another keyboard, I know it's quite normal but it really frustrates me

I don't use the pre-installed Swype keyboard. My best is Gboard
Gboard does his job pretty well and I've tried many of other virtual keyboards but none compare to Gboard.
Probably the fastest phone I've ever had. My last phone galaxy s7 is not match for this beast. 10/10!
Lol mine must be bugged or something. The software is so damn glitchy, the phone keeps lagging for 5 secs like every 2-3 minutes. You guys have any problems with the stability?
My Huawei p8lite VS Huawei p10 consumes a lot of ram memory
Just updated to Oreo. Phone still have stutters here and there just like in Nougat. My other phone (sony xz) is much smoother and feels faster.
Yeah, mine too has lag and stuttering all around (apps, app drawer, games - you name it).
I saw that I have the "slow" and old memory type on and it sucks big time, I've bought the phone on pre-order, but never again, it's a ****ty thing Huawei did with this device...
P8 Lite VS P8 Lite 2017
Hi!
Today i buy a P8 lite 2017 for my wife and compared with my P8 Lite ALE-L21.
And i like more my phone than the new version ( talking about software), 2017 version have better hardware but it lacks in functionality ... And on a regular usage i doesn't fell any difference, i think my (old version) felt better... Can be from the mods???
What is your opinion???
.
It has some major improvements. Fingerprint Sensor, 4 cores with up to 2.1 GHz, the other 4 are a bit lower, just Google it, there are comparisons with the old P8 Lite.
Funny thing is, that this device is the exact same as the P9 Lite 2017. The Hardware is 100% the same. They are both called PRA-LX1 or slightly different. That's just insane imo. The design may differ, but that's it.

I read that to.
I think that with the hardware he have, he can do more...
If the phone was for me i try to change the firmware to get more from him... The only thing i don't like is the gpu, only have 2cores.

I don't even care that much about GPU, I don't game on my phone. The thing that annoys me the most is that the 2017 version still doesn't have USB-C or more importantly 5GHz WiFi. The S4 mine has 5GHz and that came out like 3 or 4 years ago.
But I really like that the phone has a fingerprint sensor. Makes things a lot easier.
Still, my next phone should have 5 GHz and USB-C. So, for a 2017 phone, that's a no go for me. I got the old one because I was low on money and needed a new phone really fast. Huawei makes great smartphones, but they do some very strange things.
A friend of mine just got the Xperia L1, which I like a lot. It doesn't have a fingerprint sensor, but it has USB-C and 5GHz. It makes a lot of difference. Like, its insane.
I had to use his phone ones, because my banking won't work on this phone. I've clicked on download, continued setting my online banking up on my pc, expecting it to take some time like usual, but nope, just layed down it it was done.
What I'm trying to say is, that the P8 Lite 2017 is outdated and not future proof. Not worth the money. There are way better phones in that prize category that have those, for me, important features.
@Vinnipinni from the phone i just want, higly: monster gpu, good cpu, ram (and open source kernel, or at least some ex kernel, so i can overclock) medium: wifi 5 ghz, otg support, android 6+ (let's say 5 ishh..) don't care: fingerprint, camera, battery(somehow), brand name.
Btw, banking aps work exactly as it should, on my rooted phone, just use magisk.
Up:Jesus fking Christ i saw 3d score from this phone, 9k-10k, we only achieve 2k-3k whit no modifications and with modifications 5k... Those 2core are 2x better than our 4 cores, i guess it's mali-t760

Yes, 2 cores bit a high frequency. And with some software modifications can be super.
Our old p8 lite and 2017 série doesn't fell diferencie so even with that powerful hardware.

Hi everyone.
First of all, I`ve searched the forums for this type of threads, and couldn`t find any.
Secondly, I`m thinking on changing my Mate 10 Pro with a Note 8 device. What I want to know if there`s someone who made this switch so far and if not, I need someone to tell me about Note 8 software performance and battery with more than moderate usage : social apps (fb ,instagram) , chat apps ( WA, FB messenger, texts ), about 1H calls daily, news apps, youtube 1H daily, WITHOUT games.
The Mate 10 Pro`s battery is excellent, I get at least 24 hours daily, and this is what I like the most. But here comes the software. I keep app animations at X1.5 and still encounter stutters and freezes and a bit of lag. And this is what I hate the most on it.
Can someone please tell me how`s their Note8 running so far after 2-3-4 months?
Thank you very much for your answer.
zero lag for me, animation set at 0.5, easily get a full day and always running high performance mode, I'm pushing 8 hour + screen time some days plus few hours of music.

Have not made a switch from Mate 10. I don't know to much about that phone.
Phone is excellent packed with features*
Updates slow, samsung known for that*
Bsttery pretty good, not the best*
SOT average 5-7 hours depending on usage*
Will last most of the day with average use*
Spec wise blows most phones away*
Best phone I've ever had*
Hey maybe i can help you with my experience
3 of my Friends have the Mate 10 Pro and i own a Note 8. So you can think that we lay down the Devices side by side and test very much. Some Things i can say so far..
Display: Note 8 has definitive the better Display. Colors, Contrast and the overall visual Qualitiy is amazing. The Mate 10 have, compared to the Note 8, a bit milky Display with low Contrast (For my personal opinion)
Battery: Yes, The Mate 10 can run a bit longer then the Note 8. But for me, this is not the Big Point, cause i load every 2. Day my Device.
Performance: Compared to the Mate 10, i think the Note 8 runs better and smoother. Scrolling performance with the Mate is not so good, often little Lags and things like that.
Camera: For my personal opinion, both Cameras have there best and worst cases. No Camera is better then the other, but both of the cameras have there own special things where they can Rock the Rest away.
Updates: No Commentary.. very Bad. You should know that with Samsung. But Things getting Better in Time.. but very slow.
Sound: Mate 10 Pro's Stereo Spekaer are compared to the Note 8 a HUGE difference. The Mate Speakers are fedinitly better then the Note Speaker. But with Headset on.. i think the Note do Things better but i'm rooted anyway..so i use Viper4Arise Maybe you sould ask someone else for Sound things..
So for me, the Note 8 is the very better Device overall.
Hope this few things may help you. When you have questions or you want more comparision, write me..

Hey I own a note 8 from his launch and a few days ago I bought mate 10 pro bla l29 so...
1) Note 8 superior in most case screen, camera Samsung experience, no updates if you like update you have to WAIT
2) Huawei mate 10 pro battery life awesome
Great build quality 2 updates in the past week
Both work great. No lags
My opinion as I own both devices
Go for note but if you like and you're use to it emui stay with Mate 10 pro

I`m living in Romania, I have the Pro since the end of november or something. Huawei release phones earlier in EU
As I always have said, the number one factor for any person considering to buy a note 8 should be the s pen, if this is of no relevance for you, go for some other REAL flagship from a REAL good brand

Thanks for your comparison. I don`t care about the camera, since both of them are pretty good ( I can say that I`ve tested the Note 8 in a shop for 30 minutes and the Pro made better pictures). I`m interested in the battery ( 3300 mAH with QHD+ screen vs 4000 mAH with FHD+ screen ). Also, from my experience with phones, my eyes don`t really notice the differences between screens. i can get used to any screen in a short time. Also, I also wanna know if the software experience from the Note 8 tends go be the same as S8+ ( which is really bad )

'' I`m interested in the battery ( 3300 mAH with QHD+ screen vs 4000 mAH with FHD+ screen )''
I use every Day QHD+ with an very colorful Wallpaper with much and intense Colors..so no black or dark Background all the way. I can make you Screenshots with my Batterylife but i think this is a thing where every person get another experience, cause of his personal usage. My usage case is mostly like yours, except the phone call duration. I can say you (with my Rom (Ironman Rom nearly stock) and Kernel(Xceed)) i have 7.5 - 8 hrs SOT all the Days. The Mate is in comparison with the Note in this case better. I talk about 2-3hrs more SOT. So its your opinion where your priority is. Anyway i compared the Mate and the Note so far but never used a Mate longer then lets say about 4 hrs. So maybe my results are a bit diffrent to the real case. Anyway the Softwarelags from the Mate are not lucky and i hope for my Friends with these Devices Huawei will fix this in the next Updates. For me is that a realy bad thing when i buy a new phone and get srcolling Lag and other things. But maybe they installed some crap and the lag comes from 3rd party Apps or bad configurated system. I dondt know, what i see was okay so far from the Apps.
'' Also, from my experience with phones, my eyes don`t really notice the differences between screens. i can get used to any screen in a short time.''
Okay thats a thing like the Batterylife things (for me). Its a personal thing and maybe your eyes can handle that. For me, Samsung is the best Display producer so far beside Appe Displays. I have never see any other Screen that can handle with that quality from Samsung. But one more time.. its more a personal impression that everybody make in a different way i guess.
''I also wanna know if the software experience from the Note 8 tends go be the same as S8+ ( which is really bad )''
I think so. I do not have a S8 or S8+. 2 Friends do have these Devices but i never looked closer on this, cause the Software is mostly the same for my experience. The Note have the Spen feautures but i cant see if there are big other things where are Note Special feautures. If i'm wrong, then please somebody correct me. And yes, the cam but this is not the reason for you i guess.

Apples displays made by Samsung. Goind points made though.
This part not geared toward you, just facts.
Apple and Samsung= Best all around features
LG= Best Audio
Mate/Others= Best Battery
Pixel/Sony= Best Camera/-Updates Sony
OnePlus= Best Root/Roms
You take all this and decide which is most important to you. They all make pretty good phones. Some just have better things then others. IMO Note 8 best overall. But my opinion may be biased. There's a reason you search top ten phones and Note 8/Apple always #1 or #2. I wish we could have a phone that had all these best highlighted feautures into one.
If I didn't get my note for free(ish) I would be using Huawei mate. Battery life is subjective but same type of use on my mate 9 would easily get me 1 1/2 days.
Before note 8 my last daily Samsung was note 4. Same issue I had then is the same now. Phone does have a slight lag to it. If coming from Huawei and maybe pixel you will notice it. Gets worse over time.
I forgot what lag was using nexus and mate 8/9 for the last few years.
Great phone but once you get pass the non essentials I personally would go for Huawei. Emui is the biggest con of Huawei products.
Huawei sucks with updates also.
How comes Samsung devices lag over time? Is something wearing out inside of them ? Jk

they don't, it's owners that start lagging in looking after their devices
I have had samsung devices since S3, NEVER seen that lag over time, really, I do not know where or whom the people claiming these lags get the devices from, I am talking just about my experiences with 6 different REAL samsung flagship devices Obtained through official distribuitors
Lag might be a harsh word to use but there are slight system hangups that happen. Don't take my casual experience, I'm nobody. Plenty of techie youtubers and including xda, post fixes for that imaginary lag in every forum. It's okay every phone has it's issues.
I've also purchased and owned every Galaxy since the first. Every high end ssung tablet under 12 inches. WTF does thst matter, they all experience it. This is my personal experience. Can't speak for other folks. I do install some form of Nexus/Google/pixel or Nova launcher so maybe my experience is different. I don't lower screen or limit things so take that for what it's worth also. I would hope 5he first thing anyone who knows what xda is, turns the animations up.
There is a clear difference between Nexus/pixel vs Samsung(or any other oem) flagships. There is a difference between Huawei mate(strict resource management) and vs the note.
With that being said, Samsung makes the best phones. Note 8 does everything with the best screen plus amazing specs. It's just not as fluid. Been using since release. It's not a laggy mess like a cheap prepaid phone . Far from that.
My biggest thing while using Huawei was not needing a custom rom. Once I got past emui sucks and having to pay to get steady updates early, I never looked back.
Note. If all the Knox and losing important resale features I would be flashing like the good ol days. Every day. Custom roms would benefit this phone.
Fingerprint sensor alone is worth keeping the mate.
My last point and them I'm out of the convo. You asked this question in the note 8 section. Likely hood of getting unbiased opinion are very slim. You will have some folks who keep it real. You'll have some that get 10+ of sot, no lag, perfect fingerprint placement, etc.
All in all
Take it all with a dump truck full of salt. If you want to trade let me know. Cash from my end.
And what would be a black market unofficial distribution source.

Hello guys,
I've considered buying MiA2 this month for my daily driver. Previously I used Pocophone f1 and sold it immediately after 1 month usage because I'm so tired of that stupid touch issues. And I also already used Redmi Note 5 (whyred) before, I bought it in first week release. And I'm not really satisfied with the performance (it's underclocked version of 660) that's why I upgraded to poco.
Currently I'm using my old s7 edge, and it's really not optimized for pubg mobile.
The MiA2 battery life won't bother me, even tho it has 3000mah. I always use greenify and it also has qc3.0 so that won't be problem.
I play pubg in my free time, so tell me about the gameplay performance (if you use gfxtool or such thing for 60fps) because I've seen everywhere that SD660 and adreno 512 is capable and optimized for this game.
The only thing I scared is the touch issues, I want to know about the touch responsiveness and touch latency on this phone. Is it good? Normal? Or there is problem and it's kind of laggy and not responsive to swipe, scroll or typing fast?
It's really annoying issue on poco, you can't type fast, you can't swipe or scroll freely without lags, and you can't play games because of the unresponsive crazy touch. I hope there is no such thing on MiA2
fyi, I also root my phone. So root or twrp to fix some problems is okay for me as long there is a fix for the problem.
I want to know your opinion, thanks
In my opinion don'y buy this phone for PUBG, it doesn't even run stable 60fps and idk if it's the same problem you mentioned with the Poco, but I'm having touch and responsiveness issues myself. Get something with a SD8xx.

I use gfx tool and get a stable 60 fps on balanced graphics. The performance of this phone is pretty solid and can play any games at almost max settings. There's no problem in touch responsiveness and the stock OS feels great. I'd have gotten the poco f1 if I simply needed pure gaming performance. The difference between normal day to day usage experience of Mi A2 and poco f1 is negligible. Typing, scrolling and basic touch functions are great. I'd recommend this phone to you if you can overlook a few bugs like the proximity sensor.

In my opinion don'y buy this phone for PUBG, it doesn't even run stable 60fps and idk if it's the same problem you mentioned with the Poco, but I'm having touch and responsiveness issues myself. Get something with a SD8xx.

I never had any touch and responsiveness issues whatsoever. Might be a software bug. Try a factory reset and see if it fixed it.

Oh nice to know that, so you're using stock pie?
And about that proximity bug, is there any fix yet?

I am using stock pie and the proximity bug is kind of a hit or miss situation. It works most of the time, but when it doesn't it's really annoying. The placement of the sensor is a little odd and I don't think it is simply a software issue. Although in pie, it's much more better than Oreo.

From what I see on forum, most people fixed it by doing a factory reset just like you said. Well, I hope it's true

Ahh I see, then it's not the software problem anymore. It's just the placement

Hello guys,
I play pubg in my free time, so tell me about the gameplay performance (if you use gfxtool or such thing for 60fps) because I've seen everywhere that SD660 and adreno 512 is capable and optimized for this game.

I personally never had any major issues with this phone, i'm really enjoying a great cheap phone. The closest competitor in Brazil, hardware wise, is roughly double the price, which is the Moto Z3 Play running the SD636. I Had the CPU Maxed out bug but Xiaomi solved it on the 2nd October Update. Since then the device is running great, but heavy gaming isn't good. Regular games like Clash of Clans, Temple Run 2, Clash Royale, etc will run absolutely fine, but heavier titles like PUBG will struggle. It's definitely playable, but not the smoothest experience. For that you should look into the OnePlus 6/6T or anything else running an SD835 or SD845.
Even though it's a 3000mAh battery, It performs admirably, and people are saying it get's even better on Pie, which I didn't receive yet.
did you try the lineage build on the poco? same touch issues?

Same, whatever custom rom based on oreo and pie including Lineage. Nothing's changed, and it's only get worse on MIUI beta where they said they fix it in that firmware update. Some said on Lineage 16 it's better but not fixed, the problem still there.
And I sold it immediately, xiaomi and poco team seems like they don't even care about that problem.
Well I just hope that this MiA2/6x got the fix for the issue. I hate notches, this is one of the few 660 without notch.
Anyone using Mi6x? Is it good as the A2 besides the Android One and MIUI?

Hello guys,
I've considered buying MiA2 this month for my daily driver.

I never had any issues with PUBG. It automatically detected and set to medium texture and I even played in HD and it worked flawlessly. I never had a single lag or freeze. The performance is solid. Go for it.
My opinion is that the phone is overall great. Not the best value for the money and I'm certainly not happy with the state of custom development or lack thereof. But a SD660 should be good for gaming (which I don't care about), the phone is snappy in day to day usage and the battery is decent. Cameras are also pretty good.
The thing is that it's just not what I wanted or thought it was going to be like and if I could choose again, I'd probably choose the Note 5 Plus (SD636) or the A2 Lite at the time that I've bought it, and definitely the F1 had I waited 2-3 months more.
Never the less, I'll keep on using it because there is simply nothing wrong with the phone, it's just not the best value.
@ferdieses
I've had the Mi A2 since launch (the 6GB/128GB variant) and, because I never had high expectations (e.g., flagship performance/features), I'm generally happy with it.
The first few months were hit and miss with stability issues (CPU frequency/eMMC slowness/battery life) but the Mi A2 is at a point where it works well enough to recommend. Everything about it is far above average but not quite excellent (e.g., 7.5/10).
The only caveat is cellular connectivity. In Canada, it works okay. In the US, it's hit or miss but in Asia, its intended territory, it excels.

That's what I thought, SD660 is good for pubg. Even not all SD835 devices optimized for that game.

I live in Asia so cellular connectivity won't be problem. It's a good phone but not the best. From what I see most Xiaomi devices suffers from issues on the first few months, it's usual thing for Xiaomi and that's kinda sucks.
Nexus S -> galaxy S2-> Nexus 4 -> LG G2->oneplus one, and now Mi A2 128GB 6GB ram.
What can i say...
Nexus S 350 euros (second hand)
Galaxy s2 360 euros (new)
Nexus 4 almost 500 euros (second hand)
Lg g2 190 euros (second hand)
Oneplus one 64GB (second hand) 230 euros
Mi A2 128GB 6GB ram 230 euros (new)
So the OPO was with me from beginning of 2015 up to a week ago. Went from COS, to CM, to Lineage OS, had to change firmware files for modem and such, data would stop working, random reboots when using waze, etc. Loved the opo, and if it wasnt these issues, mainly the lack of battery life and the rabdom reboots, i would have stayed with it one more year.
Back to now, Mi A2, is a Nexus, or a pixel for the "poors", we will have the updates thats sure, and sure it wont take 6 months like skinned android. So thats great. And one of the things im most looking for.
SD660, is great, but the gpu... It's nothing special. Expect medium settings.
Ram? More than enough. Now where it may lose most of it speed is in the emmc department, emmc 5.1 is fast! But nothing like UFS wich is basically equivalent to a good sata ssd.
I dont regret my purchase, its way faster than the opo althought it also had emmc 5.1, the screen looks great, camera had me impressed, battery life ? (65GB of apps and games?). Better than this, there is the F1 but... Plastic? Iphony android? Almost 100 euros more for half the storage (which is ufs on the F1), infrared for faceunlock (could not care less for that),a "better'" camera and SoC.
If gaming is your main point, go F1! Or since you had a bad experience, go 6T?
If gaming is secondary like for me it is... Got a 1070 Ti at home, no need to game on the phone ? for me, my phone is listen to music, mail, messages, take random pics and browse the web.
And you prefer updates, build quality, and saving some money to buy cases, a powerbank, a QC 3.0 charger,... Go Mi A2 ?

One more thing i need to had... I like modding my phone and such, but i got into a time of my life that ain't nobody got time for that ?
So i apreciate updates and right off the bat clean android.
