Hi guys just a small annoyance of mine is that the messaging app is in military time instead of the 12hr format that the rest of the system is set to. Is there a modified version of the default messenger app as i cannot find an options in the messaging settings, Thanks in advance .

I have been using Hangouts as my SMS for quite some time now. I never had a problem saving pictures from the app at full size but recently I changed my default SMS (hello SMS) and now when I save images to my phone the pictures are A LOT smaller when saved to phone. I went to the default messaging app that came with the One, same thing. I then switched back to Hangouts to see if its the app and it saves the image perfectly and in the correct size... any idea how I can get my other SMS to save my images fully like Hangouts does?
Thanks for your time,
Tim
I'm using google messenger as my default sms app and no matter what notification sound i set for sms's in the messenger app itself it won't use, it keeps defaulting to the default notification sound in the phone's sound and notification settings, anyone else experience this ?
Have you tried clearing cache and data, backup sms first though

Thank you that worked a treat ☺ this has been annoying me for a few days.
I'm looking for an app that deletes sms message after a set period of time. Does anyone know of an app that will do this as an automated task as I'm yet to find one on the market that works?
Ideally i want a minimalist app with the sole purpose to delete any sms older than a week to keep my inbox tidy, cheers.
Could this be done via an xposed module on the default sony messaging app, and would someone be willing to make it?
SMS Organizer by trailblaze
My friend made this app that does exactly this, i.e. delete SMS after a set amount of time specified by the user. It matches SMS by keyword/contact name , which is also given by the user, and deletes them either immediately or after some delay as given by the user.
Search for "SMS Organizer by trailblaze" in google play
For SMS and the like, do you use the official/stock messaging app or Google Hangouts?
Nether, I use YAATA. There is quite a bit to choose from.
I use Chomp or Textra, many more options to configure including delayed sending(if you notice you are sending to wrong person) & ability to choose multiple recipients(group text) simply
I used hangouts on my LG g2 for ages, but I haven't missed it yet on the z3c yet..... But I've only had the z3c a week haha.
Anything you guys don't like about the stock msg app in particular? Or is it mainly that the others have more options to tweak?
Was just randomly inquiring.
I'm currently using the stock messaging app and have no issues.

I do like having a few more options but mainly I like dark themes and third party messaging apps offer those.
I use Textra myself, been quite happy with it thus far, enjoy the customization options in terms of LED and notification bubbles and sounds that you can customize per contact.

I was a fan of Textra early on. However, I don't understand why they continue to use their own database for sent messages. They used to only keep sent messages in their database thus preventing you from doing backups. They now copy sent messages from their database to the Android database so backups and restores work fine. If you don't mind the extra space used it is a good app. I guess they do it for performance though I don't see any difference between their app and other messaging apps.
I have a group of 50 people, and sometimes i need to send an sms to all of them.
Stock sms app cannot fulfil the job and does not have an option to keep contacts in groups after sending messages.
I have to use handcent instead.
By the way, if anyone knows a decent sms app that can overcome android sms/hour limitation please give me an advice.
Thx in advance!

What ROM are you running? I have seen that setting in CM12. I don't believe it's an Android limitation but rather a ROM setting.
Stock 4.4.4.
I don't have the courage to install a custom rom
I've been using Textra and have generally been happy with it but for some reason Titanium randomly refuses to back up the app, so when i switch roms I'll have to set it up all over again. The main reason I use Textra and not a built in messaging app is because Textra will automatically save any pictures to my gallery.
Are there any other messaging apps people like with this same auto save pictures feature?

So use rom toolbox
Are you saying rom toolbox has a messenger function, or that it can modify another mms app?
You can use rom tool box to back up textra both app and data
A few also do it. Chomp which is made by the same company and I also think the new handcent does it to.
