It looks good, have a nice spec and the price is great.
I've just bought it from here and not sure if it is an MTCD or MTCB, what is the difference between them and if possible to flash custom roms on it.
I've seen RK-A701 here on the forums, but it looks different than RK-A705.
P.S, found this post regarding this HU - https://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=913977
Thanks
UPDATE:
I had a boot loop (for no reason, I was listenning to music and suddenly it happened).
I've managed to fix that and install better and newer rom - https://forum.xda-developers.com/an.../rom-gtx-joying-stock-rom-2018-01-29-t3742482
To do that I did the following:
installed this JOYING ROM: - https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SiHcRPihrfQzxrkRy5qe0EEAjegQJ-0M/view
1. remove MCU folder + STM*** files from the unzipped files
2. move them to fresh FAT32 USB stick
3. Plug the USB stick to the rear USB connector (the one that connects with cable, haven't tried the front one by myself)
4. Connect USB Keyboard to the front USB
5. Click the reset button (the pinhole button) and then hold ALT + PrintScreen buttons while clicking repeatedly on "e" button (dont ask me why)
6. You will see it booting, then restarting - at this point release all buttons and only click repeatedly "e" button until you'll get into recovery.
7. Wait. it took me like 15 minutes.
Good Luck
I also recently bought this exact stereo from ebay and started searching for more information on it. After a lot of digging I'm 99% sure it's running Joyings version of Sofia 3gr.
MCU Version says "2017-05-02 11:07:26 FY_(NOR)_90_C9_7706_5009_CAN(FeiYing)_Newlap_18" while Joyings is, "2017-05-25 10:29:02 JY_(NOR)_90_c9_7706_5009_CAN(All)_Newlap_AMP", almost the same names, just some letter changed. All other information under "About device" is exactly the same as Joying.
I also noticed that it has the same GPS bug as Joying: https://forum.carjoying.com/thread-1119-gps-speed.html
I managed to root it by using the description from Joyings Extra Tools, found here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...s/joying-extra-tools-apk-apk-to-help-t3628200
After rooting all the options are enabled. I didn't try all the options, but it seems to identify the stereo as Joying.
I didn't dare to update with Joyings latest version, the stereo works as it should, so I don't have a reason yet, other than the GPS bug.
Hope this helps someone having trouble with the RK-A705.
Thanks !
I've rooted the device with your link and even managed to use a 3G dongle with it (Huawei e3531),
only root and "PPP widget 3" from google play were needed.
Do y'all know where I can go to get an update or use joying I also have the fy Android head unit thanks.

Based on pongster (HyperdroidGBX) i made a "Windows Phone 7" like Radio FM that works on gingerbread 2.3.3 with 167 dpi.
Install that as a normal app. Not as system.
*of course that you need to use it on a rom compatible with FM Radio.

Wich rom are u using? I dont have this issue on HyperdroidGBX.
Felipe I am using HyperDroidGBX v11. Also I made a clean install with wiping cache and data.
Are u using this FM.apk as a system app?
Try to remove the FM.apk from the Hyperdoid.zip, install the rom and navigate to the new Fm.apk and install that as a normal app.
Yes, I put your FM.apk to /system/app folder
Are there other FM applications for Android (without Sense)? (as I can see in most of Android ROMs FM.apk based on different versions of MIUI FM Radio)
This is not a main application for me, but I would like a more functional and user-friendly application

Hi, wondering if anyone can help here,
I just purchased an A7000 from Ebay, it came with a Chinese ROM, (I am in New Zealand)
I downloaded and installed SP Flash, some USB drivers, then downloaded and ran the official ROW ROM -
S136_150519_ROW_(by XDAFIRMWARE.COM)
running it through SP Flash Tools
when first trying Download I got a message saying "PMT changed for the rom it must be downloaded" I saw a tutorial online showing to run a manual format, then try again, which I did, and it all seemed to work, but all the phone does now is have a grey screen, with darker grey vertical lines...
since then I have tried several different custom ROM's, and also trying the ROW ROM again, but it still just has a grey screen when powering on...
any help would be much appreciated, thanks
Just to add to this, it actually just vibrates once when I turn the phone on, the screen stays black, only when I tether it to the PC the screen comes on as grey...

Hi Prashant, thanks so much for the reply, I had given up and taken the phones (I have two), to the shop, but they kept them for a few days then said they could not fix them.
I found this post on Youtube, and it has worked - both phones are now operating again. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TySRc_DkcFk although the ROM came with no database files to install my IMEI numbers.
It still has Chinese writing in some places in the phone, and some apps I can't remove,
Can you recommend a ROM that is stable and suitable for this phone, installing using SP Flash Tools ?
Many thanks.

I can't seem to figure out how to install Malaysk ROM on my Eonon GA8198 head unit.
I have seen a video where step 1 is to activate System Update via Settings -> About this unit -> System Update. But System update is dead... nothing happens when I press it.
The rom fits the system specs.
Any ideas on how I do it?
Anyone?
Whitch files must be on the USB drive?
The vendor claims that it's not possible. Can that be true? They also says that it's not possible to root the device at all
Hope someone can lead me in the right direction.
Still nobody with an answer?
you would need root unless it is rooted from factory. boot into recovery, or install a custom recovery, then flash your rom per the thread. I would make sure u have a factory rom available if it doesn't work to flash back. I would not attempt a flash without at least root

If you posted in one of the MTCD units threads maybe you had an answer. This is not about Android Auto. Read before you write and stop posting just anywhere.

Excuse me, but with my limited knowledge of this forum, Android and the english language, I thought it was obvious that when my head unit is an Android unit and when it is placed in an Auto(mobile), the question should be placed here: xda-developers -> Android Auto -> Android Auto General
Now that you are in attack mode, could you please attack me with a direct link to the thread you are refering to.
Sorry that I have ruined your day - hope it will be bether from now.

This is your CPU which determines which forum you should search.
CPU: RK3188 1.6GHz Cortex A9 Quad-Core
Check here which gives a generic explanation of each unit

On my ZS590KS-2A007EU there is no FM anywhere, checked for it in stock, Android 11 global and Android 12 beta (source) firmwares. NextRadio app doesn't work too on any firmware.
If you see by mixexplorer, in system/app there are asusfm radio apk, maybe in the eu isn't allowed
Thanks for the screen

Hi , I live in EU country and no radio fm in this Ron but I have found it as apk in system/app, installed it but it doesn’t work like if it was blocked; I saw that manifest file let you modify some lines, like an editor, but I would not know which to change ..

But isn't that only for Italy?
Short summary: From this January 1, 2021, all smartphones equipped with fm radio that have been sold so far in Italy will have to turn off the service in order to comply with the official Law, when they don't comply with the new requirements (Fm radios must also mandatorily receive Dab+ services, i.e. the latest generation digital radio)
so much LOL ... would be interesting to see FM working. might really be useful if on the go.
Radio app is present, but disabled.

Confirmed with Asus, the ZenFone 8 North American variant, Radio FM chip enabled & operational.
The two needed packages for FM radio are disabled by /system/etc/cust_pms/CountryCode/EU.xml I produced a magisk module to patch this back but I couldn't find a way to get those system apps (which are present on the device) to reinstall themselves. I extracted and manually reinstalled them but then it said a library was unavailable to the service, so I patched that as well.
After doing that I'm able to open the radio app which at a low level I believe is accessing /dev/radio0 via the associated service, but it wouldn't tune or play any audio so something else is still missing. I don't know whether they have disabled the FM radio hardware somewhere else or excluded it from the kernel or similar or whether it is just due to the system app not being installed properly. I had to open it from Settings -> Apps as it didn't show in the launcher which doesn't feel right.
I'd love to collaborate with anyone else to try to get this working as its annoying that its disabled when I could have imported a grey market device and got more features. Thanks.
Hello, i'm very intersting to buy this phone but how to get a North America variant for using in France ?
What about the reference ? And where could we find it ?
It seems there is an unique firmware on Asus site. So i suppose all of the modules needed are presents in the firmware. Maybe, we just have to delete/replace the /system/etc/cust_pms/CountryCode/EU.xml file ?!
@grootzy , hello, could you share your magisk module to modify the EU.xml please ?
Did you suceed regarding FM working ?
