I feel Linux / android / XDA gas always been an open community. I feel if everyone had access to not only root, but HOW (m?)fastboot is tricked into uploading custom firmware, we would all get true root faster... So should I leak what I know?
Input from mods, or other respected contributors would be most helpful.

Lincoln Douglas debate
You pose a very interesting intersection of values
I appreciate the dev for all his hard work and support the idea of him being paid for the work I already bought mofo so I feel like I have supported the Dev which makes me feel good
But all I want now is wp/off and even better an unlocked boatloader. That's why I vote yes
But I think its important not to pose this as a black or white decision because the poll is much more complex than that
A true Lincoln Douglas debate needs to be had on this lol

Mofo is a product and the dev owns that. On the other end, the underlying method isn't proprietary. I would say release whatever you have.

Why put it out into the public so Motorola can patch it?
Let's hear it!
Yeah, release it, so people wouldnt have to pay 20$ to get to flash over mfastboot.

I would not release a way for people to do it but the actual method behind it and the exploit used. This could help push development for the turbo which is something I am sure everyone would enjoy. That being said, I would recommend waiting for lollipop before releasing it to the world just in case moto/big red dont know how to do this. Whatever you choose to do please don't release it such that anyone can up and use the exploit as an executable per se because thats not fair to the creators. I vote yes
P.s. I already bought mofo and would pay full price again for an unlocked BL

nothing to release, authors notified qualcomm/motorola, the details are in the commit history in CAF. Its not secret, no point exists to overly vague forum posts about it.
SaschaElble is mistaken, mfastboot isnt tricked into flashing anything.
If its no secret then it should be disclosed in XDA so a free version can be made. And if mfastboot isn't tricked then "how" is it done? Link to this commit you speak of?

I feel like there is a bigger divide between people with the real skills like @jcase, hash, and dhacker and everyone else that claims to be a dev than there used to be. I guess that is a function of how complex and secure android has become. Pretty soon only nexus phones will have any possible development.

Use the version you develop. Clearly that doesn't exist yet
Same thing every android release. It'll be out after the official release, and source code drops. Don't know how long it will take, but it'll get there. We had a very long wait for 5.0 because of massive changes, not to mention that every time he got it working on one dev version, it was broken as heck on the next dev version, so we just have to wait and see. Hope that explains it well enough. Better than a "When it's ready", or "none" answer everyone always gives.
The Nexus images are now live so I would guess the source won't be far behind it. Can someone comment on the number of changes to ART compared to Lollipop. From the surface it seems that Marshmallow should be 5.2 and not 6.0 but maybe all the changes are under the hood.
It is coming:
rovo89:
"In framework version 74, I have fixed some more incompatibilities which could lead to bootloops or crashes. I assume that most of these crash logs contained the string "Incompatible set properties", which is actually a consequence of previous method verification errors. It's hard to say which ROMs and devices were affected - but flashing the new version shouldn't hurt even if everything looks fine with older versions. If you do notice any issues and are sure that it's not caused by yourself, you have higher chances of getting them fixed if you open a detailed GitHub issue (usually I will need at least a full logcat).
I won't be able to work on Xposed for the next 2-3 weeks - no time for development, support or questions at all. If the rumors I have read are right, I should be ready just in time to start porting Xposed to M."

Remember, the reason why it took so long for an official version for android 5.0 was because lollipop uses ART environment and xposed whas always made for dalvik originally.
So I think it will take less time now.

I haven't been able to find it, only snarky comments from users here about how its obviously not done. I have checked all the stickeys in this forum as well as the development one...
I doubt you will get much info on progress, as users tend to hold any claims against developers... But I would have though there would be something official saying "its in progress" to try and help stop the inquiries.
Oh well, will be a nice surprise when it drops.
Now we are at the time of the year were we are supposed to ask that one infamous question. When will be Xposed Framework for Android N be released? I know it's really too early to ask but still want to throw in the question just to be sure.

Right after you ask for an ETA again.
I think some more changes/time and full AOSP release are necessary, because auf some bigger changes of ART: http://developer.android.com/preview/api-overview.html#jit_aot

I agree that asking for ETAs is crass, but the status of Xposed support is the sole deciding factor for me when I consider whether to upgrade my OS. If there is no Xposed support, I will not run the OS. I ended up skipping Lollipop entirely and jumped straight from Ice Cream Sandwich to Marshmallow due to this. The question of Xposed support even controls my hardware purchases: if the hardware I want requires a version of Android that does not have Xposed support then I will not purchase the hardware.
I doubt I am alone.
I am polite enough not to inquire about ETAs, but I am definitely googling about current Xposed support status anytime I consider a hardware or software upgrade—which is how I landed here today.

Hi all.
My question is about kernel sources. I know devs can do magic if the sources are out there.
So, does Xiaomi typically give kernel sources? When would they do that? And especially why?
I am trying to understand how Xiaomi stands in that regard.
Cheers!
They are some of the worst. Even when they do release it, it is broken or incomplete. No one that has any choice buys their devices.

You can think what ever you want but my comments are very much true. If a developer is looking for a device to develop on Xiaomi is is avoided due to their lack of following the GPL. Think I am wrong why not have a read HERE where we talk about it in length.

Only developers will know for sure unless you download the source and try to build it as is. Most of the time there takes lots of fixes and hacks to get it working. Main reason most developers won't buy their devices.

Almost, read this.
This is a Quote from a Post.
Back in early September of 2016 there was a situation between a friend of mines and XDA. This friend’s name is Nate Benis or better known as Beanstown106. Nate or should I say “Beans” as I call him was upset that a individual had taken his work and posted it on XDA prior to him releasing his official build. He really got upset. This was probably the first time that I had seen Beans upset in public. He normally keeps his thoughts private and so I was surprised. He pulled his source off github and took to G+ to call this guy out.

Not much. Alex didn't like XDA's direction, which seems fair. Creates new site to recreate what once was, admin gets upset, escalates things. Too much drama for me.
I wholeheartedly agree with the "glorified tech support" thing though. It seems most people here can't even pull up proper logs when they have issues. "issue here plz fix o kind dev."
I think XDA has become more of a tech site instead of an actual developer website, albeit developers still post here. If you look at Dev's Base, it doesn't have the completely off topic posts that XDA does. Not saying its a bad thing that XDA does, it just seems Dev's base is a dev site not a tech site.
What firmware are you all using on the new Jan18 build?
Have you tried and success to install Viper4android or any audio mod ?

It's only possible to keep the site that way if it remains small or if they ban every new user that doesn't know enough.
Looking at their G+ page and at what some DU users ask here on XDA, it's clear not everyone is a genius. Allow normal users to create accounts and install your fancy ROM and then you have a typical XDA thread with dumb questions.
