I just wanted to know if there is a root or downgrade for this device running on 7.0 nougat. The last root I did for this device was the pingpong root awhile back, just wondering if there has been a breakthrough since then.

Hello ,
i bought samsung galaxy s5 at&t model a few days ago and i want to root it and flash new cm13 , boot i cant find anywhere how it can be rooted. its on 5.1.1 firmware. i was thinking , is it possible to downgrade kernel with odin and then root with towelroot ? i am just afraid of bricking my phone.
No, it's not possible to root this phone on Kitkat.
I'm on 5.0 currently with root. Just checking if it's currently possible to keep root, and upgrade to a newer version.
Maybe. If you have the G900A, you can try here. I don't know about the G870A, though.
I think the last upgrade that was able to keep root was 5.0 build OF3. http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...w-to-update-to-g900aof2-5-0-keeproot-t3149146
Everything else after that have been unrooted stock roms that at least maintained the ability to rollback. The stock OTA updates of the newer version block you from rolling back to old versions.
I've been gifted an AT&T S6 (build and Android version as noted in the Subject), and after some soft bricking adventures with Odin followed by more cautious Googling and re-flashing stock firmware, it appears to me that there's no way to root this thing.
Is that correct? There is no way to root a MMB29K.G920AUCS5DPJ1 device once it's in that state natively? No downgrading to an earlier version, no clever ways to get to recovery and flash SuperSU, do not pass Go, do not collect $200?
I got a Samsung S6 Edge (Verizon SM-G925V) today and heard I should upgrade to 7.0 (Nougat) firmware and hope it gets rooted soon. Is the baseband version I have root-able? It's G925VVRS4DQD1
To my understanding, the tool on autoroot.chainfire.eu WOULD work, but because the bootloader is locked down, it will brick the device instead? Is that true? Is there any hope that 7.0 will be rooted soon for my device? Any input on this would be helpful, thanks.

I tried it it said something about recovery not sure what but in Odin on the phone screen it said recovery fail
So do i. However, it won't brick your phone. One time i tried to upgrade to 7.0 or downgrade to 6.0, first boot i saw a pic of a lock is unlocked when i first boot. Next time i boot, it disapppears. Any idea?
I think this phone is unrootable for now since Verizon is like "you can't make it because i don't wanna my phone naked, haha"
Same problem here. recovery fail. How can I root my G925V Nougat?
I saw a thread on rooting it while still on Lollipop, but mine is already Nougat 7.0.

Would this brick my device, or do I have some root avenue?
