Would anyone know how to disable the heart rate monitor? I was just checking my step count today using the Fit app on the watch and then realised that it started tracking my heart rate earlier today. It checks my heart rate every 5 minutes and this is really annoying to me as I am not at all interested in tracking my heart rate. This I guess will drain the battery a lot faster as well which is another minus for me.
So I went to Settings - Apps - System Apps - Fit - Permissons - Sensors and turned them off, however I have a feeling this will stop the accelerometer and gyro as well? I do want to track my steps.
I don't think it can be done, for the simple reason that the HRM is linked to the lock-screen. The watch only remains unlocked while the HRM is active, and it locks as soon as it's removed from your wrist...

Hmm not quite sure about that and since I am using Android Pay I do not want it to stay unlocked anyway. However if you follow the steps that I mentioned to stop the sensors it actually stops only HRM - just checked Fit app and last time it measured it was 21 hours ago, but it keeps counting my steps so...happy days :victory:

Despite searching the forums, searching Google and watching many video reviews, I have not been able to find an answer to this question:
Does the Galaxy Gear have motion sensors which can 'wake' the watch based on movement. ie: I want to be able to tell the time just by moving the arm the watch is strapped to without having to touch the screen, or push a button. I believe the Sony Smartwatch has this feature.
Hmmmm does the phone function start by lifting your arm or button presses?
Pretty sure the health stuff is still feeding off the phone no?
Was wondering the same thing. I assumed that it would because I think that would be a huge negative of a watch if I actually had to turn it on to see the time. Nothing I have read or watched on YouTube talks about this. I did see an option for screen time before sleep can be changed but not the same thing.

It is coming up to the time I'll have to confirm my pre-order or cancel it, does anyone else have information on the motion sensor functionality?
I found another video review which does seem to indicate it has some sort of motion-screen activation via Phandroid. There are several points in the video where the screen turns on without any obvious screen touching or button pushing. Note that the watch in this video has the security plate on the bottom, effectively doubling the thickness, the dude from Phandroid doesn't seem to realise or mention it.
Ive seen a video that shows exactly this, someone lifting their wrist to look at the watch and the screen automatically lighting up. Only problem is there are so many video reviews from IFA 2013 that i can't find it again. I can 100% confirm there is a motion sensor, it is listed on many reviews.
Hope this helps?
If it doesn't it will. Since it has a pedometer it does have a motion sensor. So would be easy to make a shake your wrist to turn on feature like the MotoActv.

I can confirm it does turn on by itself when you raise your arm or flick your wrist.

I would say the best place to look is the sticky on these forums. But since you cant find it by looking here it is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2463743
The sticky is simply named [18.11] SM-V700 (Galaxy Gear) STOCK ROMS COLLECTION (Newest: V700XXUAMK7). Notice STOCK ROMS COLLECTION
You can also just change the button mapping (or just not select it in aroma). You'll find the instructions in several threads here

My battery life is amazing also.
I have always disabled the wrist turn-on action in the past as it absolutely DESTROYED my battery life (the damn thing would go dead in like 5 hours). I hated to turn it off however because it is just so darn handy and I don't want to wear out the tiny hardware button.
With Null 20/21 I have been experimenting with different combinations for battery life. I could care less about bragging that my battery lasts 4 days etc. with all the features turned off, but I do need it to make it through a 12 hour work day before it dies.
For the last two days, I have left the motion on and the only thing I have done to increase life is leave the top clock speed set to 1200 with both cores enabled (on demand governor) and it has made it through both days with still a little spark left.
This was with blu-tooth tethering connected all day also with gmail/weather syncing (even though I could certainly live without that).

I'm on a Nexus 5 here and have had the same problem since moving to the 5.0+ Google Play Services. It seems to have simmered down now, but man the first few days were crazy. Not sure what it was doing, but I haven't seen it on BBS in the last two weeks.
Honestly it's like any GPS update... Battery takes a dive for a few days then levels out and goes back to normal. Some are worse than others. It happens to me every time it updates. I just go into app settings, clear all data, and reboot. Works every time. :good:
It's not as bad as initially but it's still creeping. Anyone know what it does?

Educated guess, but probably something to do with the latest Chromecast update, which added screen mirroring and allowing multiple devices to connect.
There is a new update that started to roll today with Baseband: G920TUVU3DOI1
Per website, indicates various bug fixes and improvements.
Have you download it? Feedback?
Anybody know if there is still root for this new updated version? How large is the update file?

Per the website 62.78 MB
Right, it is a very small update. I am installing right now. I am not rooted or anything. So i will try and give some feedback when i finish installing. But i am sure that it is going to take a few days to notice any actual changes.
There's already another thread that was created yesterday about this update. Maybe we should all stick to that one so we have a unified place for information gathering. Allegedly this update was to activate Samsung Pay, but mine still did not work. I am completely stock and unrooted. I don't care, I just want better battery (too early to tell).
A 62mb update to enable Samsung pay? Yeah that doesn't make much sense at all.

The update made the RAM usage little smaller, better battery and overall experience.
The only issue found when using data, sometimes it automatically turns off. I have to go to data and turn it back again... weird
With this new update this speech to text keeps freezing up.

Clear twice the app and system cache before posting this.
I have Data off, International Data On, Wi-Fi calling off, VoLTE off.
When the phone goes to sleep and the Wi-FI is disconnected (I have "Keep Wi-Fi during sleep off), when it goes off it automatically turns on the Data....
If I have the data on, it goes off automatically. I have to run it on again to use it....
I haven't found the issue what is causing this. Phone not rooted

No issues here...everything works fine.
around day 2 after the latest update i noticed my battery life seemed to be lasting longer. I noticed my "time left" quote was exceptionally high, normally quoting 25ish hours max on a full charge, this time quoting 38.
last friday was the first day of any major usage. used it more than i typically do even on fridays (sat and watched youtube videos quite a lot), with 2 20 minute charges or so, from 8:00am to 6pm it was getting heavy usage, with about 3 hours of youtube going, and at the end of hte day i was above 60%.
That had me floored as normally after a normal friday, I'd be pushing my luck for 40% even with using my portable charger, and thats without youtube.
tomorrow I'll get to give it another hard test and see if it holds up again. if it does i think i will suddenly love my phone now
Greetings all,
What is it ?
I found this application in the Goole Play store which simulates the "Always On Display" feature for all AMOLED devices.
It is basically turns all pixels in AMOLED screen into black except the selected pixels for the clock. Yes it works with all kind of screens however it causes battery drain for non AMOLED screens.
Issues:
- Doesn't work well with fingerprint as you need to tap the home button every time you need to open the screen
- Doesn't work with 3rd party lock screen apps.
note:
Please note that I'm not the developer, I just know the developer and I can communicate with him issues.
or you can directly do so in the comments section in the Play Store

I did try it. It consumes slightly more than 1% of the battery ever one hour similar to what S7 and G5 do.
to me it is too much
around 24% daily is wasted

Unless I'm missing something, I don't see any option to automatically move the clock around the screen. It gives you the option to have it be on the top center or bottom of the screen, but no option to automatically move it around to prevent burn-in.
I would love to be proven wrong, cause I really want this app to work and not burn my screen! But I don't see the option, and thus far it's not moving on it's own...

I have done but the drain tends to be the same either way.
Amplify has had a good impact on my phone but at the moment i don't use that either, for me it's really about the apps that want to constantly update, so facebook, twitter etc.
Is this different with our default clock's "night mode"?
night mode also automatically move the time.
any tap on the screen will return it to the lockscreen, if its locked, returns to the clock menu if unlocked.
Nice app, but could have more customization options, such as changing the battery icon and much more! But i liked of this app
This app is working great on my Pixel XL. Disabled all the gestures for "waking" the phone up as I have fingerprint scanner.
