Sorry, I am new with Andorid phone. I rooted my phone and my phone is using stock rom FRF-91
I downloaded version B Battery-Black Numbers for stock FRF-91 non-themed from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754873.
After downloaded, I don't know what to do with the zip file. Someone told me that I can use A4D Utility to flash into the phone. I keep trying and no luck.
I want to have step-by-step guide to teach me how to flash a theme into a phone.
If I am using ROM Manager to flash CM6-RC3. Do I need to unlock bootloader? Do I need to have Superboot installed?
Also, how to tell if my phone is bootloader unlocked?
just use ROM Manager to flash the theme...just as you did with CM6.
Just make sure you backup the ROM when the Manager asks you. Just in case something goes wrong...you can restore back to your previous state.
I would like to root my Samsung Galaxy S but i cannot find the right root file for my gingerbread xwjvi. I would like to afterwards flash to the new android 4. So it needs to work with clockworkmod.
I have look through this thread but not found any for XWJVI:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
If you find the right root file, tell me please! I also need it!
FOund it but confused
Alright the root file is over here - link This works only if you are running Froyo(2.1)(Do this at ur own risk .Im not responsible if anything goes wrong!!!!)
You have to install this root file by booting into recovery and then installing the update.zip by selecting install update from sd card in the bootloader menu(I am assuming that u know how to do this but if you dont just post it)
By the way you can flash(install) android 4 custom ROM using the stock recovery too. Why do u wanna use CWM only to flash the ROM???
THanks for your answer webconnect.
Actually you are right when you wonder why i only ask for the CWM.
What i actually want to do is to have the lastest stable android on the phone.
Then only thread i found about this stated to root and then use cwm.
If you know another way with the stock recovery instructions would be much appreciated.
Thanks alot in advance
hi i'm just helping my friend to root her SGS and I came across this:
http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-s-gingerbread-xwjw1-root-52954/
hope it helps you as how it helped me too
I've looked through every available rom to download and no luck was found that has my baseband version which is I8190DXAMA2 that is rooted. So I have given up on searching for them and I'm desperately need someone to help me to get my phone rooted without the baseband version changing.
So all in all my question is:
Is there any rom out there that is rooted that has my baseband version?
If not, how can I get root priviliges but still able to call etc by installing rooted ROM with different baseband?
Please a step by step help would be wonderful, since it is my first time rooting and all I've learned is how to use Odin to install the rom.
Regards,
IcY~
Flash CWM or TWRP through Odin and that's it.
Flashing rooted rom is just another alternantive. General way to get rooted is like mr.Benz said, by flashing custom recovery, in our device case it's done via odin then flash root by custom recovery.
Go to development section, you'll found step by step to root.
Sent from my GT-I8190
oh wow, that was sorted quick. Would have saved me 5hours of downloading custom and stock rom. Ik I have slow net.
Thank you for the help!
Aw shucks, wouldn't let me post at the official Toolkit thread I wanted to do a backup, chosen "All installed -nosystem -apk -noshared" but it says adb: unable to connect for backup. I wanted to do a reset from settings from the phone because it wouldn't let me set wallpaper, I get 'error adjusting wallpaper' message. So I was hoping to backup all my games and not lose my game data and pray to god that the reset from settings will work. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Hi Guys

i really appreciate you guys helping
did you factory reset it from the recovery? if you want jellybean, first you need to root it, i suggest flashing a root kernel. then you have to install the custom recovery before flashing a custom ROM.

Here is my video on how to install Cyanogenmod 9 which ICS 4.0, You can follow the exact same steps for CM10+ for Jellybean.
VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dhS3Oex27c
To root I used 1 click method which works for any model under 2.3.3 which you are so download from here: http://www.oneclickroot.com/phone/samsung-galaxy-s/
Then follow my video method to install ICS or Jelly Bean. You can also use other ROM's with the same method, but be careful.
I hope you enjoy

(I'm not sure if my own video responses are considered as advertising and not quite sure if that's against the rules, if so I apologize :/
If allowed check out my other videos

Hi ,
I want to root unlock bootloader, install cwm and install a custom rom ( slimkat probably)
Are custom roms worth it? Are there performance better than the stock jb on z?
Can i brick my phone doing this? And if i brick my phone how to unbrick it? I have heard someting about flash tool, but need more info.
And how this phone works? for example if i get a bootloop, in my old phone i still could easly go into cwm and restore backup or install another custom rom.
I want to do everything by this tut: theunlockr.com/2013/07/22/how-to-root-the-sony-xperia-z-video (it doesn't let me put the clickable so just copy)
Have you tried that or recommend something else?
Thanks.

I suggest you to read various threads about unlocking a bootloader, the risks and about the rom you want to flash.

Hi.
First some custom roms have better prefomance than stock and others not. You will brick you phone if you did something wrong. In all custom roms and mods the devs saying WIPE DALVIK CACHE if you didn't did that you will brick your phone.to unbrick use flashtool. Just download ftf file and install it from this tool. Dont worry its safe but you will lose your data. So BACKUP THEM!!!!! . Flashtool can install stock rom only.
And if you got bootloop. sometimes you will lose cwm. So you flashtool.
And last one..
To root you phone that Depends on you android version the best way you need to downgrade to 4.2.2 if you on 4.3 then you this app to root ( kingoapp.com )
DONE!
