My first full day at work today and my bionic kept dropping 3g service all day.
I came from the thunderbolt and never had that issue.
I hope this was just a fluke.
I've also had 3 calls go straight to Voice mail at home. My phone never rang.
I hope this isn't a habit. I've already sold my bolt.
Anyone have these issues?
If I have to take it back, I'm not sure what phone to go to.
I picked it up last Friday. Got a little time left.

I've read a few are having 3G connectivity issues. Why not try another Bionic and see if it solves your issue? If not I would move to different phone then
Sorry I posted in the wrong section.
Please move to the general section.
I might take it back tomorrow. See how it acts.
Problem is, what phone to switch too if this one doesn't work out.

Wait a month and see what the HTC Vigor has in store. Droid HD might be on the horizon in time for the holiday season for big red? Or wait longer (who knows how long maybe even next year) for the Prime. Or wait till spring 2012 they'll be even faster phones out. round and round you go
Try disabling LTE. I had this issue, until I disabled LTE. What I am basically seeing, is that LTE is coming to my area, and something is getting picked up.
Or it is just 3G being a problem.
Settings -> Wireless & network settings -> Mobile networks -> Network Mode -> CDMA Only.
I had it set that way when it happened. I actually switched it back to see what would happen.
I'll see what happens tomorrow. I hope it was just a network issue for the day.
I can't be turning the phone on and off all day just to get 3g.

Also, try a wipe before you do end up returning it. That resolved the same type of issue I had on my DX1.
Well it's happening again today. 3g drops and then I have to restart my phone.
How do you do a wipe?
I've already did a battery pull.
I switched to 3G only. Still drops.
Any ideas?

I havnt lost 3g or 4g what i think you might be talking about is: 3g is dropping when the bionic is actually on a call. So no internet when your making a call. what Ive also noticed is that if I'm in a 4g area I will get a 4g connection when im on a call, But it goes in and out. I suspect on the update that comes out or a leak it will be fixed. I'm sure it will be fixed quick being its a major issue/problem. If you think back I bet you just got off a call when you noticed the 3g has dropped. I was on a call for a couple hours last night and my 3g wasnt coming back so i did a reboot and she came back. Small little issue that im sure will be fixed soon. Thats the only problem ive had with the phone, The Bionic is 5o times better the the Tbolt and thanx the cell gods im away from HTC Sense.
No, I wasn't on a call. I just turned it on and there was no 3G. Woke it from a sleep, not totally off.
Yesterday it happened 4 times.
Only once since 5AM today.
Maybe it's getting better.
Lol

Which battery saver mode are you in? I've had some issues with anything but "performance" mode that might or might not be directly correlated to my mobile connectivity issues. Check and see
I've been on performance since I got the phone.
Only one drop so far today.
I hope it continues to get better.

Correction - My friend just told me that Verizon does not have date on a call. Two things though, I could have sworn that I had data on a call with my Tbolt. Also If ur in a 4g area I noticed that you will get data its just will go off and on.
The thunderbolt is capable of simultaneous voice and data, even on 3G, but the bionic is not.

I am also having this problem. If Motorola still used vanilla android this wouldn't be an issue. I hate when manufacturers feel it necessary to fix something that isn't broke. I am sad to see how many people are experiencing this problem because if it was isolated to my phone and a few others then a warranty replacement would do the trick. I now feel like I wasted 380 on phone and accessories. I placed a call to Verizon tech support and their as clueless as usual. I hope an update is released soon that fixes this issue (or a custom rom). I remain hopeful that we start seeing good things on our Motorola devices now that google owns moto.
NOTE: I wish people would start reading through existing threads before starting new ones. I started a thread to this effect back on day 3. Several others have started threads to this effect as well. I think there are now 4 or 5 on this very same subject.

So, one thing that grabbed my interest was the mention of dual antennas, etc for the Moto X. I'm a Verizon customer, and reception in my area is spotty, at best...so I'd put reception as the most important spec I can look for in a phone...but reviewers NEVER speak to reception in their reviews...which I find frustrating.
Has anyone heard anything, or experienced anything, as far as that goes? I have a GS3 right now...and on TW it's ok...but I'd like something more...
Anyway,
Thanks!
damon
Not sure about dual antennas but Motorola has always had better radios than Samsung. One reason I cant wait to get back into a MOTO device.
I always found HTC radios and GPS to be very strong. I wonder how Motorola compares.

I have an HTC ONE S I bought used a few months ago. Last weekend I got the first real test of it's reception when on vacation up North. My girlfriend's Iphone4s and my sisters GS3 are all on the same HSPA network (Telus/Bell). Inside the cottage the Galaxy S3 had absolutely no reception at all at any time. The One S and IP4S were both about equal having times of no service and times of 1-2 bars depending on where we sat the phone. They both went from 3g to H+ back and forth and could both just barely load webpages and facebook and send/receive text messages.
Previously I've had the Desire HD and Nexus One both of which I didn't have a problem with reception. I also tried a Desire Z but sold it, it had horrible reception and I didn't like the keyboard/feel of it.
I've yet to have a Motorola smartphone but hope that will change eventually.
Poor Reception
I have a Moto X on Verizon & also one on AT&T. I have found that both of them do not get very good reception. I live in a high signal area for both Carriers. When I talk on the X people always say they can't hear me good & that I am breaking up. I have not had this problem with other phones in my home area. I love the phone but can not keep it because the reception is sub-par. Motorola phones use to always have good reception but since Google bought the handset division I can only assume they changed something?

I just traded the Droid Maxx in for the Moto X and I just got off a call where I was told I was breaking up and she couldn't hear me. I didn't have that problem with the maxx. I also noticed every time I restart the phone it takes a long time for the Sim card to get recognized. I'm not sure what's up but if it keeps it up I will have to see what Verizon says.

Yeah I've noticed that it doesn't detect the SIM right away. My Gnex never had that issue.
So either it's a permanent thing, or new code will fix it.
The radio is awesome... I get two bars of 4g at work and home now where I used to get 0 bars...
The GPS seems good... Locks faster then any phone I've used before.
I live three blocks from ATT HQ and my Vivid had crap reception but it's pretty good with X

I live in North NJ and previously had a VZW Galaxy Nexus that would regularly cut out during the same stretch of my daily commute to/from work. It would go to 0 bars of 4G/3G and maybe pickup a little 1X. On my VZW Moto X, I now see 2 bars of 4G over that same stretch. So far, I've noticed better reception.
I can't comment on the GPS just yet as I haven't really user that.
I have had this same problem on att it's something with the mic on the phone because it would work fine on bluetooth and with a headset. I have gotten a replacement phone and have not had the problem since but am watching it closely.

I've been deciding whether or not to switch to the moto x from my HTC One and it seems like the poor call quality is quite common.
http://forums.androidcentral.com/moto-x/312820-voice-cutting-out-other-end-call.html
Seems like it has something to do with the noise cancellation.
Hm, so, but i dont know, how i can help you.
Has anyone else experienced issues with their GPS? Specifically the signal being lost during navigation? I have been going back and forth with Verizon because mine keep dropping. They informed me last night that it is a known issue. I was just curious of that is true or if a replacement phone will do the trick.

I think the antenna is easily blocked in the phone, I've noticed that if I set my phone on its right side in the center console of my car while navigating, it works fine, but if I set it on its left side, it cannot maintain gps lock while moving (it works stationary).
Root your phone using IOROOT25 and then install Leo aGPS Injector to "remind" the GPS of it's location before using it and it'll work a lot better.
Well i'm on my replacement and waiting for another one to come. The replacement phone's GPS was even worse than my original phone. I can't go to a single destination without losing GPS signal. Extremely frustrated.
I can't believe more people aren't experiencing this issue.
Hey guys
Got my xt1052 walnut.
Loving everything so far. Have two questions
1) is the slight yellow tint something I should be worried about coming from LCD phones? Or is it normal?
2) I can't switch from wifi to data without having to reboot the phone. :-\ anyone having same issues?
Sent from my XT1052 using Tapatalk
Definitely talk to Motorola Customer Support.
1. Yellow tint is a known problem on this phone but Motorola seems to be very nice about replacing phones that have it.
2. The data issue should not happen, mine switches from data to wifi and vice versa within seconds with no reboot so definitely talk to Customer Service.

Ever since I switched from the Lg G2 to this Droid Turbo I've been experiencing an abundance of call drops. I've been traveling a specific route (32 minutes) for the past 11 years and never experienced a single call drop but now there are multiple areas where the call drops every time. It's always the same areas too. Has anyone else experienced the same? Does it sound like the problem is with the phone or with the service? Running Android 4.4.4. Wonder if upgrading will fix this....
Other this issue I love this phone and even if I there is nothing I can do to fix it, I'm keeping it (or may exchange it for a new one)
Just for information, I was talking to my business rep yesterday, and she told me that the Droid Turbo is one of the best phones on Verizon for call connectivity. Personally, I rarely, if ever, have had a dropped call on several different Turbos. I would try to get a replacement.

Do you use hd calling? IIRC the call can't fall back to 1x if you lose 4G which could explain why it happens in specific areas.
I do use HD calling so I can use voice and data on at the same time. I only recently enabled it and had the problem beforehand. I will keep any eye on it and see if it corrects itself. Maybe VZW has been doing work on the system in my area.
I had this very same issue. It is because of the HD calling, they ended up sending me a new sim card and haven't drop a call since.

I just purchased a Turbo from Swappa. I've been using a G2 for the last year or so. How did you like switching from the G2 to the Turbo. I am definitely looking forward to it. Should have it on the next few days. I'm using my old rzr maxx right now since I cracked the screen on the G2 over the weekend. That's when I decided to go ahead and make the upgrade. First time using Swappa too. Keeping my fingers crossed on that decision. Saving about $150 for a new turbo in the box, so I'm told.
Anyways, not sure if it'll have kit kat or lollipop on it. May keep it with kit kat if it comes on it.

I just went from a G2 to Turbo last week, sold my G2 on Swappa actually. I've never had any issues buying or selling on swappa. No complaints about the Turbo, better signal than G2 in most places and battery life on lollipop is nearly double. Camera is an upgrade, audio quality over bluetooth seems better. Still getting used to Turbo larger size and trying to find the right case.
If your Turbo is still on kitkat pay the $20 for mofo so you can root then upgrade to lollipop.
