best custom rom is? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

which is the best custom rom for nexus 6 with good battery life?

There is no such thing as best rom. Go try them all and decide

thats a good question because i was wondering the same thing as new phones come out sadly development for the nexus 6 has slowed down but what are you guys currently running rom and kernel?
I'm running the latest version of crdroid along with sigma kernel and my nexus is purring along smoothly but interested in hearing what everyone else is using

Using Tesla now, was on Dark ROM with B14CKB1RD kernel. Both are great, Tesla has Magisk built into it, so no need for additional flashing and more features. Dark ROM is equally as good and has OTA updates.
Really depends on what your kernel settings are for these two ROMs, but battery life is great.

PureNexus or Dirty Unicorns. Properly updated, a lot of features, stable and the battery life is perfect...

weekly RC or official wich?

I haven't tried some of the newer ROMS yet, but my favorites are crDroid and SIX Rom

Well, PN has only official ones.
For the moment I'm running the (last) official monthly build of DU. Those RC builds tend to have more bugs, so I simply don't use them.

It's all subjective but my two cents is (are) I always go back to Nitrogen. Recently tried Six and that was nice too.

Most stable custom rom

I'm flashing rom for the first time I have unlocked the bootloader my device is rooted.
I have been reading posts
RR seems the most stable with oos cam included and it doesn't have pocket mode which can lead to faster battery drain.
So can you guys suggest me any rom which is as stable as oos and good camera quality (not working of camera, quality of the picture processed)
May this thread helps others too :fingers-crossed:
Thanks
Nothing has camera as good as stock, so if camera is important to you, stick with stock based ROMs (official OOS, FreedomOS, OP3Lite ...)
That port that is available for RR still has some issues.
Maybe try Paranoid Android, it may have some magic that other ROMs don't due to developers involved. It's supposed to have camera on pair with OOS, but I haven't tried it yet so I can't confirm (and for some reason people don't really talk much about PA). It has all other features of OOS.
But I'd suggest sticking with OOS based ROMs until OnePlus releases camera sources.

If the camera is a non issue than Slim Roms is the best. Fast not cluttered with useless features. But honestly OnePlus has it down with 3.2.7. had my doubts but the have created a ROM that is up there with P.A and Slim.
For me nucleaRom is the best and bug free ROM and you will have the OOS camera

I think the developer has stopped the development for this rom
Resurrection Remix Black Jubel is very stable in my opinion......and it has tons of customization and Accepts the OOS Camera Port so you can get identical Camera quality to stock.

I'm using FreedomOS with blu_spark kernel at the moment, but I'll probably try Paranoid over coming weekend.
To be honest, OOS is actually a pretty good ROM. With Xposed framework it has everything I need.

Hmm...yes 3.2.7 is nice but you can't really compare it to custom ROMs. It's great for its intended purpose (stability and compatibility) but it doesn't have the customization that custom ROMs have...obviously. It depends on what is most important to you.
I'm using OOS 3.2.6 with latest blu spark kernel and I'm getting really good screen on times, like 10-15℅ drain per hour. I also have Xposed installed but I'm only using greenify with it. Imho OOS is just as good as any other ROM, and I have just about tried every other ROM and kernel combination with the exception of the new nougat releases. There are only a few extra options available in the custom ROMs in comparison to OOS and they are mostly cosmetic. I reckon wait till some stable nougat builds have been released and then we might see some improvements. There is also no need to even install freedomOS or OSlite because you can debloat the ROM yourself and learn something while you are at it. Just go to the OSlite page and check the debloat list and then remove the stuff yourself with Titanium Backup. For me it's more fun when I have tweaked the ROM myself, and I guess for others also otherwise we wouldn't even have so many custom ROMs. I have researched the living bejesus out of this phone and I am happy to share my accumulated knowledge with anyone that needs help.
Hi all,
Is there any custom ROM with pocket mode.? I have tried cm13 and RR, but no pocket mode

Paranoid rom has pocket mode I guess..
I haven't tried the rom but I have seen a tutorial on YouTube
I suggest you try h2os v2.0 5th edition. It has the best battery life, even better than pa rom. I still have 93% of battery after browsing the web using wifi for more than 1 hour. It is very smooth as well during gaming, no lags at all.

what do you mean exactly?

I need a stable 6.0 or 7.0 rom

i need a simple stable rom ... any recommendations ?
The last 7.0 factory image. Should be really stable.
maybe "Pure Nexus" ?
The latest pure nexus is not so stable for me. Adaptive brightness messing up after waking from sleep is bugging me the most. Still, I like pure nexus compared to rest of the roms. Cheers
+1 for this rom
I'm running cyanogenmod 14.1 right now. Its pretty stable, except that there's no viper4android or CM themes yet which I reaaaally really love...
.. Hmfh.... ok I'm going back to cm13. Thanks for the question!
Stock ROM will be the most stable. Sideload it and you should be good to go.
I've tried several of them and at the end... I can confirm Nitrogen OS is the best and absolute stable.
Cm 14.1, DU 7.1.1 and Nitrogen 7.1.1 all run stable and are ready for dd in my eyes.
---------- Post added at 13:40 ---------- Previous post was at 13:38 ----------
Arise sound mod works for cm 14.1 so you're good for v4a
Nitrogen is reportedly by some as the most Stable 7.1 ROM. I've used if for over a month with zero ROM related issues as a daily driver. Seriously, not one issue
I was going the busybox way, but couldnt get it installed. Anyway I'm on CM13 now for theaming! Go CM themes!!
I've used stock, pure nexus and CM 14.1. all of them are stable, but for me the best option was and still is CM.
CM has only some minor isues, but they are not a deal bracker for me. This is my recommendation to you.
Happy flashing
Pure Nexus is what I settled on while working as a delivery driver in a city that I didn't know. Stability was essential beyond just "daily driver" levels as any hiccup that might just be an annoyance in my personal life was costing me time and potentially money while working.
(With that said, I did not trial Nitrogen and based on what folks are saying about it above I will look into it.)
Also keep in mind the ROM is just the basis for a stable system. Everything that is installed or modified after the flash will also have a potential or definite impact on the system's stability.
I'm a fan of AICP, has been daily driver for 18 months. Up to 7.1.1 now. I used it on my Xperia Z3 before the Nexus 6.
Fred
I have tried nitrogen, rr, octo and a few others and for me all are reasonably stable but for me at least all have horrible battery life compared to a well tweaked 6.x rom

Whats Your Favorite Rom ?

I just bought a OnePlus 3T. Whats your favorite rom and why ? I have no clue which one to flash.
Thanks for your help in advance !!
Personally, I'm always with official OOS or FreedomOS because it already has everything I need.
However, if you are kind of adventurous users, you can try custom ROM such as Ressurection Remix, Official LineageOS or Tesla.
:highfive: Welcome!
Oneplus 3t come with Android 7 Nougat Which The newest operating system! But unfortunately Xposed Framework does not work on it for now so for me the best rom for now is the unofficial-cyanogenmod-13 otherwise the stock OxygenOS + franco Kernel is recommended!
Good luck!
I tried a lot of ROM ;
Ressurection Remix is good for customization and is pretty good
TugaPower is maybe the most popular ROM but when i tried it, i didn't find a lot of customization like RR but the app named Viper for the sound is interesting (But Tuga is a good ROM anyway ^^)
Tesla is for me one of the best, a lot of customization, good battery and performance and very smooth
But finally i get back on OOS with franco kernel because is the most stable and i wanted to try franco kernel and i love it
I advise you to try a lot of ROM and then you gonna find your favorite ROM.
I use LineageOS. I have used CM 14.1 in Galaxy S5 and I like LOS 14.1 for my OP 3t. I feel much safer using an open source ROM than using a Chinese closed source one...
Also I use Fusion Kernel which speeds LOS up and gives me a somewhat better battery life (not measured though, just what I experience)

Best ROM for Nexus 4 2017

Hello, friends using the Nexus 4.
I installed recently this ROM.
But i heard that the CM will not be supported anymore but I don't know which is the best. So can you please give me some suggestions.
My preferences are the following:
stable, with all functionalities working.
updated nexus 4 rom's

https://forum.xda-developers.com/ne...-nitrogen-os-n-substratum-10-09-2016-t3459341

Lineage OS is the continuation of CM, so you should just migrate to that if you like CM.

Nitrogen ROM

Children like to brag toys.
Nitrogen i think
I think dirty unicorns mako 7.1.1 is best rom most stable and most customizable rom there is also it is regular ly updated it is maintained by nitin chobe best n4 rom Dev in my opinion his ROMs are great any of his ROMs should work well for you just pick the rom that suits your tastes/needs
I would say latest ubuntu touch. Its easy to understand with the swipe and have the (web)apps i need while the rom has a good battery life (walking in the city with gps tracking on).
But what I can see is that Lineage 14.1 will probably be most updated like the old galaxy nexus was/is

Yes, they have regular updates and cool features but from my experience they are using too much ram (a little bit under 1GB on idle) which can be annoying.
Also i want to mention that it's not that all good to jump to android N because it lacks xposed and it's not looking like it will come soon.
I recommend Resurrection Remix
Actually I have Nitrogen rom but is most drain battery withoot wifi, bluetooth and lte. Before i used Krexus (On android 6) and n4 working on battery 2x longer and more stable. I think problem is Nougat.

Try quanta kernel, the default one uses way too much battery on idle.

Stable Rom for Daily Use

Hello, I was going to root my Moto X and wanted to know what recommendations there are for very stable roms currently available. Thanks ahead.
Use Lineage OS, its the most stable one.
Latest stock with xposed or CypherOS works both for me.
Cheers

You mean the one which still doesn't show charging percentage when the phone is off?
Go for Resurrection Remix or AOSP Extended, they've got the most features and they work great (AOSP gives you that extra bit in battery life)
For me the best is LineageOs
I tried a lot of ROMs, but since May for me, a good choice is LineageOs, stable, simple, smooth. All working good, great battery life with greenify.
(The ROM shows battery percentage when phone is changing while it's off) The bug was fixed some time ago. I recommend you this Rom.

Its stable enough. If it will not be stable enough for you, you can always switch to another rom.
Which rom date should I try?
Hello, I want to try Lineage, which rom date should I try?
The latest work fine.
This month they fixed some bugs, the ROM of 16 June is working very good.
For root:go on LineageOs page download, on extras you find it, the name is: addonsu-arm-signed.zip
Just flash it after installing lineage
For opengapps I recommend you Pico or Stock
I recommend you to use an usb for installing the ROM,gapps and root.
I flash all ROMs from usb otg, I wipe everything on my phone, except otg.
