Hi. First of all, I apologize if this isn't the right place to ask about this problem. Anyway:
As in the title, is it possible to make a "stock-like" rom from a custom rom? I mean, something that pass safetynet controls without the need to be rooted.
This will solve a big problem to anyone that, like me, own a phone with a virus in the stock rom (like Nomu's phone), and have a clean custom rom aviable.
My specific case concerns the custom rom in this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/nomu-s20-gps-problems-mic-volume-ota-t3613748/page6
Thanks
No one can just say if it is possible?

After browsing through most the mods, hacks and updates.....I have know idea which Custom ROM works the best and had a few ideas....
at first i wanted to run these mods....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=326655
then I visited the ROM page and felt like all of them were good upgrades from the stock wing...
so heres my question....If i want to get a ROM do they come with the mods in the link above meaning I'm good
I realize the risk of flashing, should I do it on my refurbished (factory) phone?
And which ROM is the sleekest and stable of all of them
thanks for looking

well.. to cook your own ROM, there are some utils and post... use the SEARCH button and the correct words to get your task done
- You can flash your device safe, but you have to read advices to avoid bricked devices (for example, you cant flash anything in a 1.xx.xxxx device)
- stable and sleek ROM, you'll have to try by yourself
Morning!
Brand new Android user and i have a Galaxy S i9000M (Firmware I9000UGJH2) and im just trying to understand this whole custom rom thing. I want to flash this to i can have more control over this phone, but im a little leary as i dont know how my phone/data will keep working.
So my question is that. How does one know if the radio settings will be correct for my region? Am i correct to assume i cannot just use any custom rom that is designed for the i9000??? i noticed my first experience was with a vibrant rom...well that didnt end well and i had to revert back to stock (with a big crash course in Odin lol).
Im sure ill have more questions lol.
Cheers!
There is not a real "Custom Rom" for the sgs only some changes in Framework and other system folders.. You can apply these Roms only with the update.zip..
i think that was the Question..
Hi again,
I need to find a kernel that has DM_CRYPT included/enabled. Is it possible to find that, just kernel and stay on stock GB? Or do i have to flash a custom rom, if so, which do have DM_CRYPT? Hope someone can assist me quickly, since this depends on wether if i'll keep the note or not...
Thanks!
it would be kernel related not rom related, you would have to see if a dev woudl put this into a kernmel for you but why do you need it?
Some apps need it. And i need them. I heard that all Honeycomb roms have it, so i guess ICS too. But i'm not gonna take risks since i might return it. And i don't have much time... How am i supposed to i "contact a dev" to request that? Is that a request board? If i'm alone to request it won't happen anyway.
Abyss kernel (v3.1) is compiled with CONFIG_DM_CRYPT=y . Since there is nothing about it in the changelog, I expect the latest version also has this option enabled.
Thanks! I'm gonna try it then. But what's difference between CW Touch & RedPill? I know CW Touch of course... But not RedPill. Anyway, if i flash this, Custom Rom Manager (from CF-Root) won't work anymore, eh? I can switch kernel, no risk? If anyone know other kernel with DM CRYPT , please post! ^^
PS: If it's just a line to edit "CONFIG_DM_CRYPT=y" then can't i just do it somehow on any kernel?
EDIT: I installed 4.2 and the app which required dmcrypt still refuse... If it was loaded, then should work directly, eh?
I'm sorry but i forgot a thing : "Loopback device" is required too, i guess this is some setting in the kernel..? Or is it something else? If so tell me what please Abyss doesn't work, i tested 3.5 too (can't test older since megaupload's dead... If you have links...) :X
hello everybody, I have a question its maybe a little noob but Im still reading and can't find the answer. is possible to flash a custom kernel in a stock rom without lose the camera quality? and if it's possibly which one is the best.
I trying to change governors in the stock kernel/rom but they keep reverting to initial values, in slim rom can stop the cores which is what Im looking for but the camera is very bad compared with stock.
thanks to all.

Flashing a custom kernel requires an unlocked bootloader.
Please read THIS if you're interested in unlocking your device's bootloader.
thanks for your answer but I got the unlocked bootloader, I'm asking because I can't find if there is any problem flashing a custom kernel on a stock rom, for now I'm a little tired of flashing roms so I don't want a bootloop again XD

If you stick with Sony's firmware, you must have a kernel based on it. Flashing any CM/AOSP-based kernels will conflict and bootloop.
Most people seems to use this kernel.
thanks that's exactly the kind of answer I've looking for downloading and try
What's up everybody?
I think I need some help.
I'm running a custom rom, apparently without any setting around the possibility to switch off or dim the hardware buttons backlight.
I'm wondering if it was possible to use a third party app, if it exists, or to modify any build.prop line or some more stuff like that, waiting for my rom developers to add this feature.
Please don't talk to me about xposed modules, I don't want to install xposed.
What custom rom are you using? Cause I'm using RR and I have this option right in the configurations part of settings.

I know. I'm running Reaper OS (what was Broken OS up to few weeks ago). You can't find anything on XDA about it, that community doesn't want their rom to be discussed here.
I already asked in their community what was to be asked.
What I'm asking here, is a workaround on any android 7.1.1 custom rom. It can also help few other people with the same problem and not necessarily the same rom.

well if that's a feature you want I would say you should switch ROMs. I don't know of any workaround for this. Or you might try requesting it to be added in by the Dev.
@se7ensde I thank you very much for your time and efforts, but you are telling me obvious things.
This rom simply rocks on this device and, as I said, I'm already asked this feature on the right channels.
I'm asking a workaround, not another rom, I tried all of them already.
