Can stock system apps be installed on a rooted Android HU? - MTCB Android Head Units General

This may be a silly question but - can stock system apps be installed on a rooted Android HU? What I'm looking for is a decent app for my radio. Ive seen a lot of apps but my favorites are stock (system) apps that are in Samsung and LG phones.

[Q] noob ? (sorry, DID search 1st) ad blocker froyo

I installed UTB on my stock eclair, and loved the ad "hardener"/ blocker. last week I flashed stock Froyo, rooted, unlocked, enabled side-loading, etc, finally got all my apps, data, widgets set back up (only THOUGHT I backed them all up b4, TB) and now I really miss the add blocker.
Is there an APK or stand-alone that will install add hardner/ blocker for Froyo?
BTW, really miss the Samsung Weather+News 1x4? (sideways) widget from stocl eclair, but can't boot back into eclair to back it up (having ClockworkMod problems)...anyone have an APK for this widget? noton Marketplace or Amazon appstore...

[Q] possible to use social+ in other launchers?

I've looked around but got no direct answer
Is there a way to get the social+ widget on another launcher without rooting?
For rooted phones from what I read you just put the deodex in system apps and I'm guessing that's inaccessible unless the phone is rooted but does it have to be there
It can't be sideloaded and installed another way?
And is there an alternative to this widget?
Please don't suggest that I root my phone
Sorry if my info is fail I'm new to android

[Q] GNote "forgetting" system apps updates and misc settings on phone reboot

[Q] GNote "forgetting" system apps updates and misc settings on phone reboot
Hi,
For the record:
I unrooted my former rootable GB stock in order to update it to the last GB version which had this same problem after the update.
This behaviour happens also with ICS.
What's happening is that each time I reboot my phone, it seems to be loosing the updates for various system apps (G Apps, Samsung Apps) as well as settings (Battery Notifier Pro BT) which is already strange.
On top of that, even though I upgraded to ICS, it seems that I can't root my phone anymore! Indeed, even though I did install the SpeedMod kernel with root, it's not really happening...
Indeed, even though su is installed under /system/xbin/su, I can't run it, and Superuser is unable to upgrade the binary.
On top of that, all my "root aksing" apps tell me that I have no root access on my phone.
Any idea on this one?

[Q] Full settings apk

Hi!
Does anybody know if it would be possible to install the 'settings.apk' from any android ROM to the Gear using a stock ROM?
I've seen some custom ROMs have already included it (like Null ROM) but I don't really need a full custom ROM for the moment, just that little piece of software... So, would it be possible to take the deodexed apk file from one of those and install it directly to the Gear?
I tried this naive idea and extracted the .apk from the Null ROM, I tried to install it using ADB but unfortunately it didn't work (I would had been so lucky :silly: ). I got this message:
Code:
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_SHARED_USER_INCOMPATIBLE]
I hope there's some easy way to achieve this :fingers-crossed:
Thank you!
The stock gear rom is a stripped down version of the samsung TW 4.2.2 rom, which has a lot of the dependencies in the setting removed already. If you tried to install any settings.apk, it will not work as it cannot find the dependencies that is required to run.
If you want to get into a new stock rom without pairing first, there is a way to do that. You will need to install the mk7 stock rom (via odin), and then install twrp recovery (via odin), then go into twrp recovery, mount system folder, then delete the secsetupwizard.apk, reboot, then you are at the clock, and can go into settings.
So, mk7 stock ROM is the stripped down version TW 4.2.2 ROM used in our Galaxy Gear by default, right?
Following your instructions I would get the stock ROM, a custom recovery and I would skip the initial pairing with mobile configuration but I wouldn't get the full settings application.
From what I have understood, the only way to get full settings in our watch is by installing a full custom ROM, right?
Thanks for answering quickly
yup, thats my understanding.
Then I suppose I'll have to consider that
You won't regret it. I am running null_23 now. With everything installed, I am getting about 3-4 days battery life. Though I am just using it as a notification unit, no internet(I find it too slow on the watch), no phone calls, and maybe some spy pictures , but to me I think this little watch is perfect for my needs.
Good luck.
I'll give it a try.
Btw, are you using Gear Manager for the notifications? I've noticed some trouble having installed apps on stock ROM and using Gear Manager on its lastest version (apps kept disappearing from the launcher, although were still installed).
Right now I am using ATN manager for notifications. Yes The latest gear manager does sort of "uninstall" the 3rd party apps. I have read in one of the other threads here that earlier versions of GM does not do this. So you may want to download one of the earlier GM versions and give it a try.

New GS-F930G automatically rooted

Hi.
*I have purchased a new g930f to replace my old, and rooted s5.
I had activated backup of the old device and the new one installed the apps of old.
I had not intended to root the device, as there are some apps that I use that don't work on a rooted 'phone.
Now these apps detect the 'phone as being rooted, and will not function.
Does anyone have a clue as to what has happened?
How can I "unroot" - without really being rooted - without having to odin-flash the stock ROM and thereby wipe the internal memory and loose all my apps?
