My Galaxy Tab S2 wouldn't charge, turn on or off.
Following some information Google turned up for me, I did the Samsung equivalent of the old Windows 3 finger salute by holding the Power, Volume Down and Home Key down simultaneously. I got to a menu but mistakenly hit Vol-Up instead of Vol-Down to cancel/reboot.
For the last 24 hours I've been looking at a blue screen that says "Downloading... Do not turn off target".
In the upper left corder of the screen it says:
ODIN MODE
DOWNLOAD SPEED: FAST
PRODUCT NAME: SM-T710
CURRENT BINARY: CUSTOM
SYSTEM STATUS: CUSTOM
Secure Download : Enabled
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 1
RP SWREV: B:2 K:0 S:0
I acquired the tablet on eBay. It's been rooted and unlocked. It's loaded with TWRP (I don't remember the version) and an AOKP ROM 7.1.?
What do I do now? It seems that the tablet is waiting for me to push some new software across but doesn't seem to be doing anything else.
Can I simply turn off the tablet, do the 3 fingered salute again and do the correct thing by going to the cancel/reboot option? I really, REALLY don't want to brick this thing. I've not even finished paying for it.
Please let me know what you think. I spent some time searching the forum but didn't find anything. If there's a pertinent thread I missed (certainly possible) I'd appreciate a pointer to it.

Hello
I was in the process of updating the firmware of my 'brand new' tab, when for some reason, the PC crashed and it all hung. The tab went all blank and now Odin doesnt detect the tab either. What do I do? How can I get the tab back into the mode that Odin can detect? Please help!
1. Did you put the Tab in 'Download Mode' using the Power & Vol Down buttons first?
2. Did you first terminate Kies from your PC's System Tray before running Odin?
1. Yes. After selecting the files in Odin, I did put the tab in download mode using the Power & Vol down button & Home button. That doesnt work any more. Neither does the Power + Vol up button
2. I didnt terminate Kies before running Odin. I didnt know I was supposed to do that.

If you did not terminate Kies first then that is 100% the problem.
Try it ....
Thanks for that info..but how do I get the Tab to get into download mode now? It doesnt seem to respond to anything I do! It really fits into the description of a brick now!
Some machine's also require a third button (as in on the Galaxy S) by using the Back button as well.
The tab doesnt have any other hardware buttons..just the power button and the volume control. All other buttons are sensors (like the galaxy S)...
By the way..i really appreciate your help!
No problem but I do have to shoot out for about an hour....
Re the 'Back button'. Yes, I know it's not a hardware button but just as on the Galaxy S it needs the back button to complete the Recovery/Download modes.
The Tab has been reported in some countries to also want the same.
What country are you using and I should be able to tell you if you need this third button or not.
If you can not get into Recovery/Download mode and the electric mains switch on didn't work either then yes, you really do have a problem.
Again, let me know the country specific you are using the machine on as if you end up having to send the Tab to a service centre you may find the Tab is no longer under Warranty.
Samsung got wise to the rooting as it was causing all manner of problems with returned units.
In the end they issued a newsletter to all service centres.
You can read that newsletter here ~ Samsung Newsletter to Service Centre's ~ Rooting Voids Warranty
Oops. Getting a little worried now....
I bought the tab from Dubai. Thats the reason I wanted to update the firmware. It has a lot of apps that I am not really interested in.
If you can't get into recovery or download mode you are stuffed.
I would try contacting your nearest service centre and see what they have to say.
Thanks for your help. I will keep trying....

I just described the restore button combo procedure here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9853737&postcount=12
For download mode do the same, but instead of volume up use volume down... That's it.
EDIT: saw you did that before. Sorry! Can you get into restore mode?
Let me summarize what I have done till now..
1. Plugged the tab to power via socket
2. Tried Home + Vol Up + power button - no response ..screen is black
3. Tried Home + Vol down + power button - no response..screen is black..
in both the cases I kept the buttons pressed in for minimum 30 secs..
I am NOT aware of a 'restore mode' ..could you please xplain?

That would be the mode you would have entered when step 3 would have succeeded. I think your Tab is really bricked. The scenario described is typical a scenario that can result in a brick. All I can do is show some compassion Sorry.
This is not good..not good at all!
Thanks for your help anyway...
Just got back.....
As I mentioned previously your only option now is to contact the nearest Samsung Service Centre and explain to them you tried to carry out a firmware update but the phone is no non-operative.
See what they say about it.... If you are in luck and they can't see you have tampered with the device then it should be covered under warranty.
When I contacted them here in the UK they told me if I brought my Galaxy S in they would fix it there and then... I opted out though as I could not get over to see them. I was fortunate in that the Recovery and Download modes were still working. Your case however is different, in that with out these two modes it is impossible to get the Tab activated.
I know it's not good news but honestly, providing you can get down to a centre they should be able to sort you out.
Yep, just done the same to mine also..totally dead, trying to flash JMA !
Take it back to the store you got it from and plead total ignorance, that's what I am going to do...
Thats precisely what I did...lets see if they can help...
My tab is back! They were able to revive my tab. Now to try again...

Glad you took the advice I gave.
Please leave any vote of thanks ~ My Nurses take for charity £10 out of my wallet for every vote of thanks received.
Sorry friends, I am a newbee and seems I have done a stupid thing on the first hour I got my phone. [It should be reported to the Guinness World Records!]
I tried to check all the combinations of different keys pressed together. The one that got me stuck was – Volume Up + Volume Down + Power. What happens?
The screen turns all green but doesn't freeze. That means, the phone is not bricked but something happened to the display.
I still hear that it works playing the starting music. When I press power to close it, I try to guess where is the place of "Power Off" on the screen, I press it and the phone plays the "Good Bye" music and closes.
If I remove the battery, put it again and press Power, it enters again into a "greenish display" state.
Somebody can help me with any solution to get out of this situation?
--------------------------------------------------
These are the details of my phone:
Galaxy S 16Gb unlocked branded from Vodafone
PDA: I9000XXJF3
PHONE: I9000XXJF3
CSC: I9000VODJE4
I bought it from a seller through AMAZON UK a month ago shipped to an address of a friend in London and got it only today. So it will be impossible to return it back and difficult to arrange with Samsung UK support the sending of the device to fix it. The warranty is original Samsung Europe for 24 months.
So, I rely only on you!!!

Can you get the phone into download mode? (volume down, home + power). If you can you can try reflashing the firmware through odin. You could also try taking the battery out and leaving it awhile, but if I'm honest I have never heard of this problem before so am only suggesting the methods I would try. Otherwise give samsung a call and get them to sort it, I would imagine they'll be ok... Good luck!!

Thanks Nagrom78 for your efforts to help me.
I have tried what you have suggested and with no success. I fill in my fingers that it continued to work for a while and seems it is waiting for an input but I don't know the sequel of the keys and which keys I have to press.
I have also tried to do a Factory Reset to resolve the problem. Have you tried to do things blindfolded? It's like working in total "blindness". The phone shows a bright blank green screen and you have to guess what has been written so you could carry out the instructions it gives.
I followed the "Step by Step Instructions to Restore the Galaxy S Factory Setting", as following:
------------------------------------------------------------
1.Turn the device off, or if the device is halting, you can remove the battery and put it back again.
2.Simultaneously, hold the volume down button and press the power button.
3.Menu will pop-out containing the option Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock.
4.In this case choose Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button.
5.Then press and release the power button.
6.Here you need to confirm your decision, to choose YES press Volume Up button or NO by pressing down button.
Choosing YES will erase all data including apps and games installed; if you choose YES then the erasing process will start. After erasing process finish, the phone will automatically reboot and turn back on with default factory setting.
-----------------------------------------------------------
…. But it didn't does anything. When the phone is supposed to start the process I hear [and fill a vibration] but after waiting more than 20 minutes seeing no reboot, nothing at all, I closed the phone! I suspect they skipped a step in the instructions or I have waited a too short time.
By the way, do you know how long should take the restoring process?
This is the last try before sending back to support
This is my last try before sending the phone back for support.
Somebody has a brilliant suggestion to fix the problem?
Does somebody know the email support address of Samsung UK?
I believe it should be: "[email protected]".

From what you say I guess you didnt try odin yet.by pressing power+down+home then it should go in download mode and let you do the work with odin.so download odin, open it in the pc,press the buttons on phone and connect the usb.if you see yellow in odin then its connected to the phone.if it connected you can probably fix it...

What you're describing isn't what I've heard of before. Take a video or a photo of what's happening?
What did you do to the phone?
Going into download and flashing the phone should fix it I guess.

It seems you haven't read all my explanations. Never mind I"ll repeat them shortly, I know you want to help me:
I go into download mode (volume down, home + power). I hear the phone works (the vibration is on) but I don't see anything. I see only a bright blank green screen. It's like been blindfolded! I don't know the sequel of the keys and which keys I have to press to pass all the process (including Odin that I haven't yet installed). I have to guess what instructions I get. I don't even know where in the screen I have to press!
I suspect I have done a short circuit of the screen and I"ll have to send it back to Samsung Support.

you are in odin downloadmode, perhaps you accidently put your device in odin mode, thats done by holding volume down/home/power buttons same time. just hold the power button and reboot your device

Hold the power button it did not reboot so I took out the battery for 5 minutes, reboot and the screen is back to normal. But what I don't understand is why the phone goes into odin download mode without me holding the volume down/home/power buttons ( happens few times this week). Sometimes battery won't charge even after I changed the chargers/wires (works well on my note) and sometimes on docking mode? I went into Settings > Accessories > none of the docking boxes are checked.

i have no idea, but could be hardware issue. I have a friend who has a i9300 and he had the same problem with battery not charging (with different chargers) only thing that worked was a usb cable connected to pc, though i dont know if he has solved the problem. perhaps your device wants a update, thats why going into odin mode just kidding. your on older firmware i guess with the old bootloader as i dont see the knox counter in the picture. maybe you want to update to 4.3, and maybe the battery not charging issue will be fixed but i highly doubt that. keep in mind that doing the update you will get knox bootloader and that crap SUCKS!, now thats not a big issue but when you root it and install custom rom the counter will be triggered and samsung repair service will not accept it if you want to send it to service.
Ok, so i had galaxy gear running tizen V700XX NF1 and i wanted to downgrade to android with this metod
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2776157
and i screwed up at the last step, when i finished the 8th step i unplugged the usb cable and hold power button and wait for reboot instead of going to recovery, and now my gear is practically stucked at samsung logo, no download mode, no recovery, no nothing. If i try to press the power button it says "Samsung Galaxy Gear" and "Rebooting" and it stays at samsung logo.. Odin recognize it as com 5 but when i try to flash something it stays at <ID:0/005> SetupConnection..
PLEASE HELP , i worked a lot for this watch.. I promise you that i will donate some cash if you will make it work, no matter if with tizen or android.. PLEASE!!
Sadly, I find myself in the same boat. Did you ever find a resolution?

This is a long shot, but I was recently in a similar position (from the opposite direction, from Android to Tizen). But who knows, maybe it will work for you.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56827616&postcount=26
Follow the link per user "Kofxi". Good luck.
I had exactly the same problem.
Solved it by turning off Autoboot. Flashed the recovery (watch stays on a screen)
Hold the power down and boot straight into recovery mode. Twrp then worked
Recovering from soft brick
I was also stuck for a few hours at SAMSUNG" too after downgrading my Gear back to Android from Tizen... until I found a post here that I'm unable to locate right now. I had to do only one thing slightly different that I'll elaborate below. So when you're soft-bricked at the SAMSUNG logo, do as follows: -
- Long press power button until you see "Rebooting"
- ASA you see that, release the power button momentarily, and now start pressing it and releasing it repeatedly for about 10 times until...
- you see the screen that has the choices to Continue, Download & Recover
- Press the power button to cycle through these choices until Recover is selected
Here's the tricky part now that worked for me after a few tries
- To select Recover now, you'll need to long press power button for about 4 seconds... any less and the selection will cycle to Continue, any more and the Gear will reboot
- If you've pressed it for the right duration, you'll see the green droid man with a message 'installing configurations' or something like that (and the Gear will probably reboot before or after that... forgot that now!)
- Then you'll see the now dreaded SAMSUNG logo again... but if you're holding the Gear in your hands, you'll feel a slight vibration... I KNEW something was going to be different when I felt that and sure enough, the Gear turned on showing the short-cuts to the videos to download the Gear Manager
- The rest should be straightforward.
I can empathize how anyone might be feeling since I went through that sickening feeling for a few hours before hitting jackpot, so if the above doesn't work or if you need any more details, just let me know.
Good luck!
Hi,
Currently my Samsung Note 9 is stuck in a bootloop after trying to flash it. (Passed but died)
It is stuck in a cycle of Turning on and off - "WARNING: CMDline Parameter modified" with the "Samsung Note 9" loading screen.
I can't put the device into download mode - vol down + Bixby / vol down + bixby + Power - neither work!
Any ideas would be great.... Thanks in advance:good:

i remember back when the non-removable batteries (well, non removable by means which normies were accustomed to using at least) first cropped up in the forums and the "let the battery die and itll work" was laughed at. Those who laughed before arent laughing anymore. This is one of the biggest reasons i was ticked about the static battery launched in the S6. The "why does this bother you? all you need to do is a button press to simulate a battery pull" always baffled me especially when it came from devs

force reboot it with:
vol down + power
continue holding and the instant you see/feel it restart, do the DL mode procedure:
vol down + bixby while plugging usb from computer
its all about timing. get help from a friend for the DL mode procedure if you have trouble holding the buttons and plugging the usb cable coming from a computer.
what phone model do you have?
what did you flash?
