What's the best Android version for Xperia Z? - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all. Now I bought a Xperia Z C6603, tired of my Galaxy S3 GT-i9300.
It's branded and customized by Orange operator, and it's currently running 4.4.4.
I want to debrand the debloat the phone, but I'm wondering about the benefits of upgrading to newer Android versions.
Do the phone get faster? Slower? Do the battery last longer? Or shorter?
I'd appreciate your comments.
Thanks all.

the latest official ROM of Z is Lollipop 5.1.1 .222 or .228 firmware version (in my country is .222) wich in my opinion is the fastest official ROM but not a battery friendly.
If you wanna go higher, just root, unlock your bootloader, install latest TWRP and flash LOS 7.1.2. This ROM is nice.
Don't forget to backup your TA partition before unlocking.

Sony Xperia Z1 Lollipop 14.5.A.0.270

Recently I bought a Sony Xperia Z1 that came with Kitkat. It is worth to upgrade to the Lollipop 14.5.A.0.270 or it is better to stay with Kitkat?

In my opinion its better to unlock the bootloader and install a custom rom
As long as you don't want to unlock your bootloader you could safely upgrade to .270 and root your phone using kingoroot( then remove it using some scripts and install supersu)
Or just stay at .270...
You can also downgrade it back to KK using Flashtool if you don't like lollipop..
Lollipop has some issues (depends sometimes .... ) but for me its better than KK..
Also we are currently waiting the new official 5.1 rom which will fix most of the issues (I hope so)
Stay with KK
IMO It is better to use KitKat with this phone. You can tweak the hell out of it and play with multiple roms. The stock rom for Lollipop on this phone is a joke. You could quite easily use the same software running on z3 roms on this phone.
But for now I have one recommendation. This is my fave rom for Kitkat.

Hi, I think you'll get an answer if you head over here: Sony Xperia Z4/Z3+
Marshmallow update is highly recommended.
Better in performance than previous versions.
Still heats up but less than before.
Same battery life

[Q] How to update with rooted Xperia Z

Hello folks!
I have a rooted Xperia Z that is stuck on 4.4.4 still and whenever I try to update from Sony's automatic system update, it would fail on me. So would there be an alternative to install to the latest Marshmallow version on a rooted Xperia Z(c6603)? Would I have to download the official stock Marshmallow and flash it from TWP? If so, where can I find the official stock rom?
Thanks in advance!
Unlock bootloader and flash any marshmallow based custom rom

Internet Speed on Xperia Z3 Compact on LP and MM is too slow, but on KK is ok

Hello everyonw, I've got a problem with my Xperia Z3 Compact:
Recently, my device, which is running Android 6.0 MM has too slow internet speed. I tried to flash it back to Stock Android 5.1, then 5.0, even Cook rom based on these version, but no changes. Finnally, I flash it back to KK then the problem is fixed.
However, I don't want to stay at Android 4.4. Anyone can tell me what is this problem and how to fix it? Thank you very much.
(Sorry for my bad English).

How to root ?

Hello,
I have an F8132 with the build 41.3.A.2.149 under Android 8.0.0. My bootloader can be unlocked (but is not).
I'm pretty new to xda and I've browse the forum but the latest guide to root this phone are from 2016 and not for this version.
So is there a new way to root this phone available or can you give me a link to root this version of the F8132 ?
With me having past experience with Sony devices. You can't just flash magisk using a recovery of choice and boom. Sadly, Sony thought of this. You will either need a modded version of stock or a custom kernel due stock with rooting unlocked
Existenz Oreo for example has this unlocked and extra customisation
