So my s6 is at G920AUCU4DPH5 and i am trying to update to nougat but its saying that i have the latest firmeware, but i obviously dont? any thoughts?
I have the same exact issue. I have seen some online videos on getting Oreo on S6, but most the Nougat videos dont mention anything with it working with G920A with the baseband you mentioned. Not sure if we can jump from Marshmallow to Oreo.
I have exactly the same problem. I'm about to just flash my phone to nougat myself using odin cause I'm giving up on this.
I even went to AT&T and asked for their help but they were as unhelpful as it's humanly possible, saying there's nothing to be done if my phone doesn't have or accept an update and it should be returned to a seller.

If you guys live in the US, try bringing the phone to a Samsung Experience Center inside a Best Buy. They can update it for you.

Hi,
I have a few questions regarding updating my T-mobile Note 4 (SM-N910T)
And have not yet received the 5.1.1 update I'm on 5.0.1.
So if I do this manual update will my warranty remain?
Is it safe?
Will my phone still be official stock?
Will I be able to use automatic updates in the future?
Thanks.

T-Mobile has not received an update to 5.1.1 for the SM-910T. The only phone that has 5.1.1 is the SM-910T3 which has different hardware. Be sure you know which phone you have before you even consider upgrading.

Wow didn't know there was a difference probably why I kept getting Auth failed and gave up
T-Mobile has the update for SM-N910T, they just haven't released it. Samsung gave the update to the carriers. Sprint is the only carrier to release the update to the public OTA, to this date. Like Alkali said, SM-N910T3 has 5.1.1 and that's because the phone is a revised version and was shipped with the latest. As far as I know, you can only get the T3 from a warranty standpoint. I could be wrong.
That's why. I haven't done it lol I'm on jump and getting the note 5 trading my note 4 in. I figured it will tick them off that my phone is on 5.1.1 probably be like "how did you get this build?"

When you root the S6 edge (any variant) PingPongRoot prevents OTA updates from installing.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s6-edge/general/of1-odin-g925v-tars-t3191419
Here is a link to the proper files to update to 5.1.1; just be aware it makes root impossible.

It all depends. I would recomend that before you take the update and permanently lose root, try installing a custom ROM.
There are a variety of custom ROMs available for the Verizon Galaxy S6 Edge. They all outperform the 5.1.1 build.
Try finding one in the following subforum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s6-edge/development
If one of these ROMs does not perform as well as you expect, just use Odin to install the official firmware.

Correctomunod!
Yeah, I just spent the past 3 days looking into rooting my new S6.
I got it barely a week ago and I was really excited to finally have a phone I could root, only to learn that I got the first new phone that you can't. I might have had a chance to keep 5.0.2? Whatever, but by the time I synced by Google account, I found out I had the 5.1.1 version, with no way to go back.
More experienced users, please correct me here. I am largely posting this to consolidate what I've gathered.
As I understand it, 5.1.1 prevents a clean downgrade to any other Android OS by just not allowing the option.
When I went to turn off automatic software updates, I was faced with an option to check for updates, or go "take a hike" per se. It seems like you may be able to flash a version that can be rooted for the AT&T version (G920A), but you trip the KNOX security thing which will void your warranty. From what I can see, a lot of people are just deciding to go without root, or go without the phone. I have seen a thread or 2 (out of DOZENS on this) that say methods may be in the works, but everyone seems too afraid to try anything.
Keep in mind that I say methods for a reason. Nothing seems to be cut and dry for us as AT&T users to begin with, but this 5.1.1 update when downloaded OTA and all legit and whatnot is a real death sentence for those looking to root.
I'm keeping my eyes and ears open for news, but we're going to have a while to wait before we get to join the fun.

Yep agreed and that's why I just bought a new international 6plus Edge and selling my G925A
Once you've taken the 5.1.1 OTA update on either the G925A or the G920A that's it there's no downgrading or going back.
No root

Not sure how this can be made any more clear. We have a thorough and two very simple explanations on the entire one page of this thread so far. I'm not trying to police it, but when I get updates for the thread, I'm hoping for something a little bit beyond the already answered questions yo.
I can only imagine devs are working on a miracle of sorts to change this fact, but it remains a fact until some magic solution is both discovered AND verified as far as I'm concerned.
jinishpv, I think you mean you compiled the .img file to Windows..? If so, MagicISO is a Windows app you can use to add, delete, extract or update files contained in an .img file. I hear what all of you are saying about 5.1.1 bootloader, and yes I'm in the same boat w/ safestrap rooted still on 5.02 of4, but jinishpv asked a tangent question and I didn't think it would hurt to help a fellow xda member out.
Any updates on this besides the private root being sold all over the web for $100-$120 each or $30 -$40 for remote unlock for G920A, G925A, G928A and G890A?
The good news thatotherguy.. found a way to root s6 and s6 edge. the bad news it is unstable. He's working on it with other devs. I'm assuming he/they will release it after the release after GS7 (to check if GS7 is vulnerable too?)
My G920A is working fine so far rooted on 5.1.1 OJ7 (yes I paid $40 for remote unlock LOL).

Prove you're rooted.
And if so where did you buy a "remote unlock" to unlock the bootloader.
I can root G920A 5.1.1. I will not give away the file, but I will root it for you.

Good news for us UK users...
I used to be able to update my rooted devices via Kies with the guaranteed 'official' Samsung ROM... ('cos OTAs don't work on rooted phones)
Kies says S2 Tab isn't supported, and to use 'Smart Switch' instead. Does Smart Switch upgrade firmware??
TIA
Anyone else have the 5.1.1 update on the s2 8.0. I'm still stuck on 5.0.2

Yes, you can simply flash one of the available 5.1.1 versions from other regions.
Will work just fine, and you'll notice no difference.

Yesterday at night I did it. I've used the Canada version but this one it doesn't have the "Mange Apps" in the Smart Manager to Auto-Stop the apps. I wanted that but can't know for sure in which one it's enabled.
Does manually upgrading with ODIN mess up KNOX and the tablet's warranty status? I'm on 5.0.2 as well.

I haven't had any problems with mine. I have some Samsung apps disabled but I don't think that's the fix. Are you sure yours is T710 and not some other variant? Did your KNOX counter get tripped?

Mine's the T810 which was originally running on UK version 5.0.2. I rooted it, flashed a TWRP recovery and flashed the Canadian 5.1.1 version. KNOX was tripped when rooted.
Oh right. I did a Google search about your problem earlier and found out you have two disable a service or two if the same thing happens on the Samsung S6 Edge . Read the ROOT YOUR PHONE AND UNINSTALL KNOX part.
Any word when the OTA update to Android 5.1.1 is coming for the Galaxy Tab S2 in the UK?
It's out for other countries. I'd rather not have to doing anything unofficial if I can help it, especially when it's been out in other countries for some time now.
Thanks

As I understand it the Android 5.1.1 update from Samsung isn't available in The UK but looks like it is elsewhere. My Tab S2 is still stuck on Android 5.0.2.
I'm waiting for Samsung to release it OTA than installing firmware intended/released for a different market.
Thanks.
The firmware is identical aside from a few apps here and there.
Only the csc is different which doesn't have to be flashed.

Sorry to be creating another Oreo thread but the ones I'm finding either aren't Sprint phones, are closed, or are months old with no replies.

You do have to Odin back to stock and do the OTA update from the carrier if you want to receive OTA updates
