this is very strange, just bought mi mix 256GB version and checked screen resolution on many apps, cpuz, antutu and others, all report same resolution 1080x1920, so how to understand that? it must be higher.
CPU-Z says 1080x2040 for me. Antutu says 1920x1080 during the Garden demo but I suspect that's what it would say for any non-standard (i.e not 16:9) HD display. I'm sure it would report 2560x1440 for the S8/G6, even though they're actually 2880x1440.
Take a screenshot and check the properties of the file. It should say the screen resolution.

Try changing it through resolution apps. For example this one : Screen Shift: Customize your display. More details at http://aravindsagar.github.io/ScreenShift/

As all of of us know that if we can't play a game on computer due to lags, we change screen resolution, then lags disappear,
Could a developer make a tool, or find a way to change screen resolution from 1280x720 to let's say 1024*768 or lower ?
(There is an app in market, which is called resolution changer, but when we change screen resolution it does not stretch to full screen)
You can't push it bigger trough hardware limits, as you said 720 to 768 ,also virtually no,might be possible only to downsize both height and width. Probably the application you saw was a density changer.

it was just an example ,
Let`s give more reasonable examples, like 1024x576 or 800x600

The only problem with this is that these guys don't appear to know what resolution and density/dpi is and nobody tries to understand that lowering the device's resolution will result in higher performance in everything 3d based.
There is a way that i found named "Resolution Changer" but of course it has its problem. it won't go full screen once you downscale to lets say 960x540 16:9 resolution. try it i'm sure you won't like to have black borders.

changing resolution is not a permanent fix, we need good kernels, there are good kernels out there already but they r still in development, not perfect yet and it would look like minecraft with a HD screen at that resolution, I'd prefer playing with black borders to having squares on my screen. The main reason why many games lag is cause they aren't 'optimized' for tegra 3.I don't know if its possible to fix the way tegra acts with a kernel or something, but the bootloader was unlocked not too long ago, wait for more developments, I believe the developers here will make this phone a monster one day.
I'm on Android 4.4.3 and Sense 6.0 Developer Edition -stock rooted.
I've updated the YouTube app to 5.9.0.12 but it has no resolution selection -check the attached screenshot. Is anyone else with the same version and with no resolution selection? What could be the reason for that?
Now updated to 5.9.0.13 and still no resolution selection!
Thanks in advance!
Any idea?
No resolution in settings. There is a choice of resolution when you play a video, but there is no 1080 p in my case

Some people have the choice to select resolution from the settings. Why our apps don't have that?

I've had received all the update in time but never had the resolution select option since it was first introduced. Very strange!

I had it on old version. Never looked after updates because I set it to 1080p and thought it didn't change after updating the app. Now it's gone and no way to set resolution higher than 720p

I don't get to choose any resolutions, not 1080p, no 720p. I didn't have this option at all on any release. Very strange!
Install this app :
Activity launcher
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.szalkowski.activitylauncher
Then
Open the top menu
Click all activities
Scroll down to settings
There may be a few instances of settings
Expand & search for display
Scroll to display
There may be several instances of display
There will be two display instances
Enter the one that says
Com.android.settings.displaySettings
Can anyone verify they've achieved 2k?
Not work on my Mi MIx with the latest EU Rom.
Isnt 4K a hardware limitation on the mi mix?!
Nope caps at 1080p
well it did work for me but 2k? since its and HD device so, it does look more cooled do just like in the screen shots.
What? I didn't get it.
How do you know you've gotten 2k resolution?
sorry to disappoint you guys but this could be a futuristic feature of the application should Xiaomi release a 2 version !!
looks good do

if you compare the screen shot it does look like the black looks more black which it does. and 2k? right.
My dear if Xiaomi manufactured this device with a 2k screen they would have announced that as a marketing strength. To be sure just open youtube and find a 2k clip and try to switch the 2k option and see what happens and let us know the results.

oh, you still here ROID? can't let the Mix go?
what is interesting is if it changes the rendering resolution, because there's this thing called super sampling. what it does is it creates frames in highers resolution and then outputs them to the screen creating a slightly sharper, higher quality image. For example, even if you have a FHD computer screen, it's better to watch 2k or even 4k videos, for better quality.

I never clicked the 2k option.
The two screen shots are both in native resolution.
I posted two screen shots as a way of showing how to find what I'm talking about.
I'm not sure why the second is darker.
Good question?
Just try a 2k clip and if you can see 2k as an option to play the vedio then it works

It appears that in the new One UI camera app, 1080 is the highest resolution available for video recording now. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes it's true I can't record in 4K resolution at all.
You have to tap on the video resolution selection in the settings to bring down a dropdown menu that lists the resolutions including 4K.

Can you share screenshots on how and where ??..all i can find was 1440p at 1:1 is highest.
I have the same issue on my Note 9, no UHD/4K option.
It's simple... Go to Rear Video size and tap under resolution.
Screenshot attached.
You are right. I feel stupid. I was clicking the dot in front of the aspect ratio and haven't realized I can tap on the resolution.
Aweful UI!

I was thnking the exact same thing. I design UI's for a living, and I can tell you now, if users aren't using your software the way you expected them to, it's not the users fault, it's the software which isn't clear enough!

Hi! I'm trying to find a setting to modify the resolution in which the pictures are taken, but can only see an option from aspect ratio (which doesnt clarify how many megapixels you get with each type).
I looked online and didnt find anything on the subject, which I find quite strange
It is the aspect ratio toggles. I askedthe same question a week ago you can find the thread here.
4:3 is still the highest quality. Then 16:9 I believe.

I was actually looking for a response to this? In video mode 16:9 is the highest setting, in still mode is 4:3? You can no long see the resolution comparing between the rations

What I'm the world does "yeah you can't" mean?
There are 3 different cameras, one has a different resolution than the others. A single resolution value would not do. Seems as though Samsung didn't implement a multivalue setup. It is always full resolution for the given aspect ratio.

Take a short video (of a few seconds) with each setting and look at the resolution of each video. It would only take a minute to do this.
