Bad wifi performance - K3 Note Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I picked up a second K3 Note with a cracked screen for peanuts on Ebay so I could experiment different roms and eventually for my wife.
But the wifi performance is nowhere near as good as my original K3 Note. It works fine near the router, but is all but unusable in the bedroom at the other end of the apartment.
I compared the ratings with Network Tools
On my main phone, the signal level is down to -71 dBm @ 39 MBs while the second phone goes all the way down to -127 dBm @ 35 MBs and frequently cuts out. In fact, pages take ages to download when surfing and the speed displayed on the flux indicator is in bytes/s rather thank kB/s or mb/s, and it is impossible to do any streaming.
In the sitting room, where the router is situated, my main phone reads - 52 dBm @ 135 MBs while the second phone reads -44 dBm @ 65 MBs and is perfectly usable.
I'm wondering whether it might be something like a damaged wifi antenna. I was planning to get a replacement screen on Aliexpress. But before doing that I'd like any pointers or other thoughts on this problem. What could cause this type of behaviour?
Thanks.

Does processor speed makes it's temp go up? (Another question inside)

Or processor speed does not affect temp at all?
Also, what is the most suspect to raise temp of N1?
Heat generated by the cpu is proportional to frequency * voltage^4

Okay, I assume cpu does affect the temp.
But is there any other source that affect the temp? Or is it only cpu?
3 things make the nexus get very hot.
charging it makes it get hot.
doing a lot of data transfer on 3g gets it hot. for example if you do a long period of web browsing over 3g for a long period of time, or transferring a large data file over 3g, or streaming something. all that gets my nexus hot (heheh).
or just running the cpu at 1ghz for a long time. like running a benchmark test over and over.
Thanks Roger, right now, I use my Portable Wi-Fi hotspot while charging for about 3 hours. And it gets hot up to 41.2 degree of Celsius. How about yours?

I would be very careful of that 41C, its mildly high (nothing to be seriously worried about). I would advise using wifi when the battery is at 100% already to reduce heat from charging. If you are not yet on froyo, it can help with some heat issues. Creating a mifi can cause a lot of heat due to what is required to make a mifi, high data transfers through 3g WHILE high data transfers through the wifi card to create the mifi network.

Max operating temp

Ran navigation for about an hour this afternoon and used 20% of battery plus temp got to 118 F. Almost too hot to hold. This is with no case mind you. My 4G LTE also got hot under same circumstances. What's the max operating temp for this phone?

Overheating question: is that normal?

Hello!
I'm using Z3+ with latest firmware on it (downloaded it with wi-fi). I've mentioned terrible thing, as i suppose. When I browse internet, and watch youtube while charging the phone, the average processor temperature is 55-60, but it sometimes rises to 76 and than drops down.
Tell me please, is that normal temperature for the phone processor? Won't it harm the processor or another phone components?
Thanks!
The heat is wasted energy, most CPU are inefficient and generate heat.
I have a Z2 and a Z3+ (and previously iPhones for 5 years) - the Zs are definitely "hot" compared to the iPhones but the melting point of silicon and solder is quite high (maybe 150C or more).
Remember the days when laptops were too hot to put on your lap? Those machines still work fine today.
So I don't think the device will be harmed from internal heat (aside from more quickly revealing dry joints perhaps) but it may feel warm in your hand compared to other phones. The way I hold mine, I barely notice, all the heat is in an area above my hand. I only notice if the phone was working hard and then I put it straight in my pocket.
FWIW both the Z2 and Z3+ shutdown the camera app after about 30 minutes continuous 1080P recording, however using alternate apps (Better Camera, Google Camera) I have been able to record 1080P for an hour before I got bored and stopped it.
My Z2 records 4K for about 5 minutes, my Z3+ records 4K for about 15 minutes.
It's only the native camera app shuts down to cool off, I guess the image processing works the SoC harder than alternate apps/api.
tl;dr - yes I think it's normal and things won't hurt the silicon and solder until 150 celsius or more - the phone would become unstable first anyway as the CPU mis-computes due to heat.
I think it doesen't matter because it may be occur but if it dont hamper your device then no need to worry about this .Some device like
modem ,laptop and other smart device become heat for a long time use .Thats why dont worry .

low network reception than mi max

I have both mi Max and mi Max 2 and I live in an area where network reception is comparatively low.In my max there shows 2 bar of network signal but mi Max 2 shows only 1 bar and disconnects very often from network(4g).Is there any mod to increase signal strength ? Should I ask to replace the device from manufacturer( perhaps may be some manufacturing defect in the unit I received)? someone else has faced this problem?
Different SOC, different radios, different position of antena, etc... Nothing's wrong with your device. The only mod which could increase singal strength would be a hardware MOD, which i don't thinks is posibble really. You just need to live with it.
Thanks a lot for quick reply.now I will bear with it .
i have same problem you are not imagining it, the signal reception is a good 30% less than mi max

Temperature, Time of loading and unloading of the Gt-i9295

Hello, I am opening this thread since I read that some people experience problems with high temperatures or problems in loading and unloading the battery so I ask you to please share your usage statistics to check the normal statistics of our device.
Approximate charging time from 0% to 100% =
Approximate time of download in navigation, YouTube or chrome in mobile networks =
Normal temperatures in sets =
Normal temperatures in Internet browsing and normal use in mobile networks =
Normal cpu temperature in normal use =
And if possible specify the rom and bootloader you are using.
I am one of those who are experiencing problems so I want to know if it is normal or not, I expect their answers.
(Text translated by google)
yes its normal I have S4 Active for 4 years
and Installed many Rom
I think snapdragon 600 is the problem and gets hot very easily with normal internet use no matter how you change the settings
but I have two battery and they wont get hot when charging even with 2000 mah charger
___ by the way I use some cold heatsink when I share my free 4G internet using hotspot
It gets damn Hot downloading 3 Mbit/s
and eat my battery after 45 min
its much better when sharing the internet with usb tethering
and watching youtube .... no way it will burn after 15 minute
but the worst situation for me is hotspot never played a game on my s4 piano tiles long time ago
sorry I have no stats about cpu temp ... right now
Its a nice phone btw I wil use it as long as it works
graet standby time using the latest build from Tsvietkov
