Pebble app close on Huawei P10 - Huawei P10 Questions & Answers

Hello all,
I notice a strange thing.
I set up my pebble app to be not closed by the mobile when screen off and to not be in battery optimisations.
But, sometimes, the pebble app is still closed by the system.
Any idea or maybe script to avoid this?

Something similar happens with running apps like Strava and Runkeeper. I haven't read any solution yet. I think the power manager is a bit too diligent )-:

I have the same problem with some apps, I found a possible solution online (don't remember where exactly).
The steps are:
> Settings > Battery > Settings (upper right corner, cog icon) > disable "Close excessively power-intensive apps"
Hope this helps.

Thank you mate..
it makes no sense but this seems to be the best working solution at the moment...
These are my current settings for pebble and AdroidWear (got a german device so maybe there are some translation issues)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Settings > Battery > Cog Icon (upper right) > disable "Close excessively power-intensive apps" SOLUTION MAYBE
- Settings > Apps > (another) settings (button middle) > special access > ignore battery optimisations
- Settings > Battery > close when screen off whitelist
- Phone Manager > cleaning > Cog Icon (upper right) > eceptions whitelist
- No power saving activated
All of them are a bit similar but only one seems to take advance of the pebble problem
cheers

i think you intended to say:
Start > Settings > System > Regional Settings > Time > Time Style
..
That method didn't work for me .. I ended up changing the registry setting
HKLM\nls\overrides\ITime
Thanks a bunch, works for me!!
Easy method is just to go into the time section of regional settings and simply delete the AM & PM option.

Force of habit for me, can't stand the am/pm malarky so I just delete the text option on all things that have it. It's not that brute force tbh, just remove the text from the drop down box and if you ever want it back then just type it back in
I've got a problem with my clock in TF now too - and I've not installed any new software or tweaked anything.
All of a sudden it's in 24hr (which I want) but without a leading zero. Also when I go 'back home' very briefly I see an AM/PM symbol on the zero before it flips over to the current time.
I've searched everywhere, reset my phone, regional settings from something else back to UK, looked in the tls registry entry but can't find anything that will put it back to the HH:mm format.
Any ideas? Will reinstalling TF work do you think?
i think it is once again:
Start > Settings > System > Regional Settings > Time > Time Style (see post #3)
try and let us know..
Unfortunately this doesn't work either as there is only one setting there. I've even tried reinstalling Manila.
It's bizarre. I get HH:mm after 12pm but in the morning it's showing as H:mm rather than HH:mm - plus there is a small AM on the first digit. All as if Manila thinks it should show 12hr time in the AM and then 24hr time in the PM!
It's telling the time so I suppose it's no biggie but it's not what I'm used to and I don't know why it's just suddenly doing it and I can't fix it.
The clock on the taskbar is correct which makes it even more weird.
Anyone know of any other reg settings to force a fix?

Anyone else missing gmail notifications unless screen is on?

I have no power saving settings on like aggressive doze or close high powered apps.
Ill just let my 3T's screen turn off and send an email to my gmail account from my work email. I will not get a notification unless I turn on the screen.
Yes, I have this issue only with Gmail, Oxygen 4.0.2.
Same here.
It happens with WhatsApp as well but I hadn't had time to troubleshoot it.

Gmail/Inbox use normal priority notifications as opposed to high priority, therefore will never bypass Doze. For some odd reason however, selecting Do Not Optimize makes no difference. This issue is not specific to the 3T.
I have noticed this too with whatsapp i can't remember if it started happening on 4.0.2 or when i flashed a different kernel, probably 4.0.2 related
I have exactly the same issue ... mostly with gmail and possibly with other apps like Whatsapp (I need to use my phone more to be sure) but surely and deeply with gmail.
Sometimes I receive push notifications on my OnePlus3T (running OOS 4.0.2 and unrooted) flawlessly, sometimes it takes a delay from one minutes to several, sometimes I need to wake up my phone (with the Jedi move of waving my hand over the proximity sensor) and sometimes I need to open the gmail app and force the update with a slide.
I think I also notice a random delay for the notification even if the screen is on and the phone in use, which seems to exculpate the doze mode but I'm not 100% sure and it is much more rare.
This is really annoying to me as I didn't have this issue with my old Nexus 5 and which I don't have on my work iPhone. I try to convince myself that it is not a big deal but it's not easy ^^.
I tried to contact Google on this but they weren't helpful on that matter.

There a 120 pages post on the OnePlus forum about this issue on the OnePlus 3, even before OOS 4.
Can you tell me where is the "Do Not Optimize" option you're talking about (despite it is not working, strangely) thanks !
if you are ready to sacrifice a little bit of battery life, you can turn off Doze. You would need to do that in 2 places.
1. Settings -> Battery -> Three dots top right -> Aggressive doze and app hibernation -> Turn off
2. Settings -> About Phone -> Keep taping Build Number until phone marks you as a developer -> Go back one screen -> Developer Options -> Doze mode -> Turn off
I hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip.
I will give it a try but read on the OnePlus forum that it was not really a game changer.
I hope people working on Android know about this "feature" and will correct it soon if it has an impact on all Android N users !
I have that same issue.
Everything was working for me perfectly then all of sudden. Notification for Gmail Google plus and WhatsApp stops working no matter I am on mobile network or WiFi.
It work only when I open the app
I am on RR Rom
The easiest fix I found for my work email (Nine), which wasn't getting timely push notifications... was to just turn off battery optimization for this app. That made it perfect and instant notifications again. Presumably it uses more battery in this mode, but I still need it.

It's kindof hidden:
Go to Settings-> Battery-> 3 dots in upper right
Then in Battery Optimization section, select 'All apps' from the pulldown selector at top.
Then find your app and change it to 'not optimized'

I dont find Gmail in the listed app?
In the Battery Menu/3 dots I don't have a Battery Optimisation Section but 2 settings (with my own translation from French to English, sorry about that) :
- apps hibernation & doze
- greedy application management
In the first option, there's a selector to activate or not the Apps hibernation & aggressive doze --> I disabled the option (and one can choose the app to optimize or not, but gmail is not on the list)
In the second option, I have a selector to allow to shutdown automatically "greedy" apps --> I disabled the option
However, in the Applications menu, while choosing the wheel then the Special Access Menu, there's an option for "Battery Optimisation" in which one can choose - one by one - the Apps that are optimised or not.
Anyway, for me, disabling the Doze mode in the Developper options seems to solve the problem with Gmail but i still have issues with delayed/lost notifications for other Apps (Twitter, Le Monde, ...).
And I'm running 4.0.3

That's weird, I do have Gmail listed in mine. Make sure you set it to show all apps.
Also, I haven't done anything unusual with Gmail, like converted it to a system app, for example. It was flashed as part of Gapps Micro.
FI, just posted a bug report on that issue : https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/random-delay-with-push-notificatio-ns.500958/

Because an app is obscuring a permission request... when trying to USB Debug Website

I have an unrooted/unchanged/stock Huawei P10 running EMUI 5.1 and am trying to debug a website I'm making. Latest Chrome on the P10 and latest Chrome on my Retina MacBook Pro 15'' (late 2013) High Sierra 10.13
The route worked on all my previous devices. USB Debugging is checked on, I plug in the cable and say yes to the prompt "Allow Access to device data?". Next prompt "Allow USB Debugging" -> OK gives me the following error: "An App is obscuring a permission request. Settings can't verify your response"
Looking for solutions I read stuff about background apps which mess up things. All I know of / remember installing is "Mi Band Tools", and "Pie Controls".
I tried to shut down "Mi Band Tools" via Settings -> Apps -> Mi Band Tools -> "Stop" – But it seems not to be stopped for long? Since I don't know if this would solve the problem anways, I figured to come here first. It would be great if I wouldn't have to uninstall these apps.. always a pain to restore etc.
Thank you very much!

I had the same problem with my Huawei Honor View10.
I had to uncheck the "Permit drawing over other apps" for a (in my case) JINA Drawer. Maybe you have to uncheck an other one...
In EMUI 8 = Settings - Apps - Apps & notifications - Apps - Settings (bottom of screen) - Special access - Draw over other apps
Good luck!

Fix #2 - if it works
i was messing with my Samsung Galaxy J7 Core J701F/DS and I was trying to figure out your problem also because i got the same problem as yours so the thing that worked for me is going to Settings (Nougat 7.0/1)> Apps> 3-dot menu/optionsl settings/other settings> Special Access> Apps that can be on top> Disable all apps like literally disable them all and try to debug your phone again...if it works, enable apps in that setting one by one and repeat debugging process. If it doesnt work, disable the last app you enabled, and if it works again...that is the app that is doing the dirty work...mine was not in the system apps it was one of my apps which is AZ Screen Recorder lol....(why the app that is being used everyday need to be disabled....)

1. Apps such as Blue light filter apps constantly appear on the top of your screen thus breaking some of the on screen functionalities. Try disabling display over other apps permission of such apps and you should be fine.
2. Also, sometimes it is because of your custom launcher, so try switching to your stock launcher if above solutions don't work.
3. If Accessibility for some apps are on then try disabling them first.
PS : Of all the 3 solutions try the possible ones.
Hope it helps.

This put me on the right track.
I have an LG G6 running Android 8.0. My Keeper Security app needs permission to Draw over other apps and since around December 2018 it has started acting 'flaky'. The app would warn me that I need to turn on this permission, but when I clicked "OK" in the Keeper app to take me to the Android setting for the app, it was always turned on. I could turn it ON/OFF, along with the setting that needed this permission in the Keeper app (called Keeper Fill) and eventually get it to work again, but it would always break again very soon after.
As I am getting ready to go on a trip, I installed Google's Datally app. It, too, wants me to turn on Draw over other apps, but when I tap "next" to be taken to the Android settings page to enable Draw over other apps, nothing happens (I usually expect an app detects it has been enabled and gives "success" message).
So I started disabling the 3 possible suspects listed by kapil1100. I had LG's Comfort View and some Accessibility options enabled, so I turned them off and: no change.
I disabled all other apps that have permission to Draw over other apps via: Settings > Apps & notifications > Special access > Draw over other apps, and: no change.
I use Evie launcher, so I went back to the stock one: no change.
I got thinking about what else could be modifying/accessing the screen and realized that LG has custom Home touch buttons.
I went to: Settings > Display > Home touch buttons > Hide Home touch buttons and DISABLED Show lock/hide icon and then tried enabling Draw over other apps for Datally and IT WORKED!.
I was then able to turn Show lock/hide icon back ON and everything has been working as expected. I suspect that, because I had Show lock/hide icon turned on during an upgrade, something got messed up and my turning it OFF and back ON fixed the issue.
I hope this helps someone!

Recent Apps disappear

Check to make sure nothing is set as Device Administrator that's graying it out*.
Setting>Biometrics and security>Other security settings>Device Amin apps
If that's not locking it out another app or setting likely is. Google searches are useful; it can be another Samsung model or OS as the operation, issues and solutions many times tend to be similar. So this is how you can find more solutions for newer Androids.

If they're not grayed out simply toggle them off one by one. With Samsung you find occasional miscommunication probably due to technical writers that may not understand what they're writing about. It's funny sometimes.
Worse are hidden double tap to open options and menus. There's a at least one on my 10+ not including the Easter egg and Developer options.

I have about 70 apps with Optimize Battery usage turned OFF.
Then there are about 500 apps with Optimize Battery usage turned ON.
I think I should toggle this off on all 500 or some apps and then see if I this affects performance or notification reception in any way.
Either way, the system will show me if there is an app sucking an egregious amount of power.

I found it best not to use this on my device/OS version (Pie).
As for usage reporting that can be misleading as dependencies may not be reported but be responsible for the excess usage.
Android Services has a huge number of apks under its umbrella; I simply firewall block it as it's rarely needed. Disabling it though will cause issues.
The worst offenders were clearly visible on Karma Firewall's logs which doesn't function on Android 10 or 11.
