Meritline is an awesome site. I order tons of stuff from there (especially their 3 packs of HDMI cables, usually with coupon for 6.99)
But there shipping is quite slow unless you live close to California. or can wait for things to arrive from the Far East. (Hong Kong, Singapore, China)
The other thing is their customer service is top notch!

I got a class 2, 8 GB card at my local electronics store for $17. Don't waste money/effort getting your hands on a class six because the Hero won't read it at it's native speed.

That is false, and frankly I'm damned sick of hearing that BS repeated over and over. The "class 2" thing comes entirely second-hand from some user who apparently got a note from a random low-level customer service rep saying something to that effect. Well it's not true.

The Hero is fully capable of exceeding the read and write capacities of a Class 2 card. My Hero maxes out at about 2.5 - 3 MB/s writing to the included Class 2 card, but easily reaches 6-8 MB/s using my aftermarket Class 6 card.
Definitely, definitely, definitely get a Class 6 card, whatever size you buy. It's absolutely worth it.
Anyway, NewEgg will ship you an 8GB Class 6 card from the US for $22.95. I'd recommend that instead.

Assuming you mean the Transcend card, I got it at amazon at roughly the same price after shipping...and I'll +1 that recommendation.

Even if that wer the case (which is not), then you try and buy stuff hard proofing it for the future, so the logical way would be to buy a class six card, which you can use when in the future you dont have a Hero anymore and do have a phone that "supports" class six.
Even less expensive!

This is not a deal. If you think it's a deal you're new to the internet. I got a SanDisk 8GB Micro SDHC Class 6 for $18 shipped from new egg. Keep your sights on dealnews.com for micro sdhc deals.
On top of that Meritline is good but has insanely cheaply-built knock-offish type stuff. Got my sdhc card reader from them for $0.98 shipped. See what I'm saying here?

His was also Sandisk, that's noteworthy.
I know a lot of people have good luck with Trancend, Adata, etc... but I try my hardest to stick with Kingston or Sandisk for my SD cards.

that's a self punishing way of action... sorry, but I couldn't endulge in that one.
Bought from ebay, arrived from new zealand for 33€ total expense, tested the whole 14.84GB real capacity with linux and dd, plus copying back to harddisk after that, and was fine, 7.5MB/s write, 7MB/s read with internal SD reader of my laptop and SD adapter.

It's still certain they will be significantly more than twice the 16gb ones.
32gb SD are out since a while, and they still have outrageous prices, so go figure what will happen with microsd's

eheh, nice avatar, I can recognize a dragonball from my CO2 days. Botting in adv zone got me 2-3 of them
Anyway, my sandisk microsd is a class2 one, but as in my previous post, transferring its whole capacity back and forth from hard disk with the internal reader of my laptop, I got 7.5m/s write and 7m/s read...

hey well i have one and i have quite alot of songs (aprox. 2500) but when i hit the music tab on my hd2 it takes about 20-25 seconds for the music player to pop up. does this happen with anyone else? is there a way to fix this? thanks in advance

It's obviously loading the songs list... the builtin mp3 is just catchy eyecandy with very small configurability, I use mortplayer for my audio playback needs.
Obviously as well, if you ask HTC's support, they're gonna tell you that it's your MP3's fault, and that their software is faultless
I bought Team 16gb Class 6 and very happy with that one. Recommended.

yeah but I paid $74 bucks for the one i got now...so I figured hell, returning it and throwing the extra 26 bucks plus shipping with it couldn't hurt anything, IDK, I might just keep it, and when the time comes (upgrade phone) go out and buy the 10 class as well, and just have two kick ass 16GB sdcards for dual booting

I don't use aps2sd atm or swap or JIT and my phone is ok (no secondary partition). It's not worth doing with the card I have.
If I put a class 6 cad in and enable all the above would it make a difference?
Why are you guys getting 8GB cards? I don't even use half of my 2GB.

Most people store more on their SD card then you probably do. For example I have nearly 16 different ROMS at any given time stored on mine. Each ROM is about 40+ mb if not more so it adds up. Then I also store Apps, Wallpapers, Audio files (which is HUGE), and other things. You always want a little extra space.
A 4gb card is usually more than enough for the average user to still have plenty of space and not worry about filling up the card. BUT it all depends on your intentions for the card.

I got 1x16GB and 1X32GB both genuine, and very quick shipping (4-5 days to Belgium). The 32GB already 1 month working very smooth in my Trophy.
Unfortunately every large memory card I have purchased of Ebay has been fake, either 2gb reworked to show as a 32gb but still only holds 2gb or a cheap nasty card classed as Sandisk or such like, Im not saying these are fake but I would use Paypal where available, this at least gives you some protection.

Hard to go wrong with SanDisk my friend. I've been using that same 64gb MicroSDXC card in my venerable Note 1 for at least 6 months and just transferred it to my Note 2 -painless! .... (Hope to see a micro 128 gb popup sometime soon......here is to hope)........Also, at that price you're getting it for less than a $1 a gb...not a bad price and it's not likely to go much lower until a larger capacity one hits the market.
