Bought a z3 compact couple of weeks ago...worked fine for a bit and now its totally dead...meaning it wont power on but will show the red led when plugged in...was left on charge the whole night and still the led remains red..
I have tried installing companion to see if that helps as suggested online and that didn't work..
Any ideas as to what could be done?
Thanks

I have the same problem, I changed the battery and it didn't solve it. No idea what's going on. My phone was running Firefox OS during almost two years without any problem, I didn't change anything regarding the software. It just doesn't switch on anymore, even with a new battery.
I had same problem on my xperia go. My solve is :
connect phone to pc and do not do anything. Red light need turn on again. Wait 30-60 minutes. When you see sony logo, wait 5 minutes around and plug it normal charger. You can open your phone. I hope it's work for you. Sorry for my bad english.

Oxidation and sulfation don't occur instantly so maybe that's why it stopped working after two weeks.
I think there was a way to root via Wifi, but I cannot help you with that. Also, messing with stuff around can cause you to be stuck in a bootloop, and tobrecover from a bootlop you will need usb connection.
So you are pretty much on a dead end, sorry

I plugged charger cable into my phone tonight and the phone restarted, it then loaded up to the o2 logo screen which displays for a few seconds and then it reboots, it keeps doing this until i hold down volume up and the power button and it vibrates 3 times.
If i switch it back on it repeats the cycle of rebooting.
Anyone got any ideas ?
It also doesn't appear to charge if i plug a charge cable into it and when i connected the USB from the phone to my laptop with the phone on it made the laptop power off
Any help appreciated i tried xperia support but they weren't much help
Can u try charging it via laptop. Guess Ur system has crashed. The last option I could tell u is to flash the firmware again via PC companion or flash tool. Good luck

Thanks for the reply, i left the phone on for a bit and it no longer is stuck in a loop, it just flash's red light 3 times.
Nothing works to make it switch on and nothing happens if i plug it in to charge ?
doe's anyone know how i go about getting it repaired under warranty, Sony's on line help was less than helpful.
I got the phone from the car phone warehouse back in Feb, but my experience from my last phone going wrong is they don't want to fix it under warranty and find any reason to get out of it, also just read my insurance document and it states it won't replace/repair the phone if it should still be under warranty
How can a phone provider refuse warranty replacement of a clearly screwed up device? That's ridiculous

Well I have found that the original charger cable is faulty, hence why it isn't charging!
I have used a new cable and if I use SUS to try and fix the phone then it will show a blue light...but then states that it can't find a driver for S1Boot Fastboot ? :silly:
Any ideas what this driver is and how to install it or is SUS meant to install the driver and my phone is to broken for it to recognise it ?
Thanks :good:

You can hard shutoff the phone and let it charge, its better to keep it always charged, just in case...

Go on the Sony website and organise a repair through them, It will be much faster and you don't have to deal with Carphone WH at all!
Just fill in a form or chat to someone online and they will give you the address to send it to free post.
Package it up and you can track it.
I wouldn't open it up but it sounds to me as if the battery is not connected or present, ive fixed a few Xperia Zs and if you remove the battery and plug it in the boot loop goes on and on.
As long as you haven't opened it, the white stickers under the flaps have not gone pink, its not physically damaged, you have not rooted it AND its still under warranty.... they should replace it!
If its your fault and you damaged it I think they charge £14 to return it or destroy it, whichever you prefer.
Good luck
Hello, my situation is this: S3 Mini running Carbon Rom 4.4.4 , flashed with TWRP. After running great for a few weeks, suddenly after charging all night the phone froze ( was on FB on CM Browser). It was totally unresponsive to any attempts so I pulled the battery ( this did happen a couple times before) and when I tried to restart, nothing. The phone responds to nothing, no download, no recovery, no charger.... battery is charged and I did try a different battery to no avail. The only response I get is if it is connected to a PC before I install the battery then when I install it (the battery) the PC tries to install u8500 usb rom drivers, which of course it never finds. Samsung device drivers are installed on the PC. Odin also fails to see it.
Is it dead? Is it salvageable? Can I recover any data off it?
Sorry for the new thread but it seemed I could not find a case exactly like mine.

There's no warranty on my device so taking it back is not an option. The phone was working fine for while so I suppose it's not the bootloader... what suprised me is that it happened outta the blue, not during start up... thanks for the advice though mate.

basically from what I've read, the jig you either buy off Ebay for 3$ or solder 300kΩ across pins 4 and 5 of a micro usb connector, But look it up before cause a nuclear holocaust

Honestly, I didnt think the jig would work, which is why Im not in much haste to do it, before you dump it though mate, try and find someone close to you with a JTAG setup.... I havent had much luck with that.

Hey there.
I have an Xperia ZR that is unable to get into flashmode to reflash and it cant turn on.
Sometimes when plugging it into a charger or computer theres a red led lighting on but it just stays like that no matter how long you leave it. Unable to turn on and cant get it into flashmode. Tried with a rubber band to keep holding volume down while have it plugged in with flashtool ready for an entire day with no result.
Have also had the battery out for an entire night but nothing has worked. Is it just broken completely or is there some way to get it to do something again?

Hmm... Sounds like you tried pretty much everything. How about some background info? How did it get this way? Is the bootloader unlocked? Probably not relevant, but you never know.
My best guess would be that there's a loose contact with the USB connector or something, but that doesn't explain why the display doesn't come on when the red light comes on (are you running a custom ROM?). In any case, by this point, the service center is probably your best bet, if you're under warranty that is; if not, you can try taking it to a 3rd party repair shop (that's how I got my screen replaced after my warranty ran out), or maybe disassemble it yourself to see if there's anything you can jam back into place. Don't know what else you can do.
Good luck.
P.S. What about fastboot?

I dont really know anything about it, its a friends phone that bought it used. Theres 100% no warrenty on it and if anything needs to be replaced i can do that but its just determining where the issue is.
Fastboot doesnt seem to do anything either. Also the battery does get hot after leaving it in the charger for ages so i dont think there is a lose connection there? But im not sure.
If theres an issue with the screen it should still boot and such.
I thought it might be an issue with the power and volume buttons but then it should still turn on when charging id assume, or partially turn on, until the battery charging screen at least.
Wait i just tried to plug it in again.
Now flashtool gives me this
07/022/2015 13:22:00 - INFO - Device connected with USB debugging off
07/022/2015 13:22:00 - INFO - For 2011 devices line, be sure you are not in MTP mode
however if i unplug it and replug it it doesnt detect it before i pull out the battery and put it in again. Holding either volume up or down doesnt do anything still, gives same message and doesnt go into fastboot or flashmode

That's... Interesting. And Flashtool just stays like that until you unplug it? It doesn't lose the connection (device disconnected) or anything like that? If it does lose it, it could be a battery issue...

... OK, I don't know what kind of black magic was used on that phone to screw it up like this, but it sounds like something's off in the battery circuit (just guessing). I'm not sure that's even fixable, but it couldn't hurt to try a mobile repair shop. Who sold you something this broken, anyway? eBay?

i dont know who they bought it from but yea seems like something with either the usb connector circuit and maybe buttons. The battery voltage is okay. Reading 3.5V and specified 3.7V on the battery so that should be eliminated as a problem

Nah, I didn't mean the battery itself, I meant (as you said) the connector circuit between the port, the battery, and the motherboard. You can try opening it up, see if there's anything you can do, but apart from a repair shop, I don't see what else can be done to save it. Maybe someone else will have some ideas.
Good luck. ?

Upon further investigation, it appears that some of the back screws and the plasic in the edges behind the rear cover, is damaged. It appears as though someone has opened the phone previously and been unable to make it function again afterwards and then sold it online to get rid of it.
So ill open it up and check the insides of it, then give an update if there are more issues!

everything will be deleted on your phone
i was about to open a thread when i came across this one, i have similar issue with my ZR, i had bought it brand new, but after few weeks of lollipop update, one day the phone just started rebooting randomly, and after few hours it didnt boot back up, it just went dead. and same issues, when i plug in red light comes on, but only for few secs, and no help using PC companion or flashtool. i took it to repair shop they said theyll charge me for just checking what the problem is, i said no thanks. ill take it to repair shop n see what they say.
I have an xperia t. I flash it correctly a couple times, but in the last "session" i screw something big time. I accidently delete all files on phone, total desctruct!
Now i have a question. Does i have any chance to work this out or is phone "dead"? Because i also cannot charge, also with red led and power on 4 long time!
Please help me if its possible to fix my good phone. TNX! Greetins from Slovenia!!!!

I'd say YES (as I've been in the same situation, total black out, but then I was able to recover it after long hours of struggle), You probably might have a chance if you're patient, can read and follow all the details on this thread (by gredbradley here and Toledo_JAB http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849170&nocache=1).
Note that LED notification usually means signs of LIFE, so you must try hard if you really want to bring your phone back from the "dead". post here it you have any questions. Good Luck!
