OnePlus 3 closed beta group receives 8.0 Oreo* - OnePlus 3 Guides, News, & Discussion

OnePlus has always been praised for having clean, near-stock software, and a big advantage of this is that updates are much easier to push out. Case in point: the OnePlus 3 has already received Android 8.0 Oreo via the closed beta group, with the newer 3T and 5 receiving it soon as well. Plus, OnePlus is hoping for an Oreo public beta by the end of September.

It would be nice if someone would accidentally share the zip.

The rom isn't stable yet to share among people. The public beta is assumed to be updated by the end of September.

still would be nice if someone would share. ill take my chances.....

Nah, won't be shared. I think op shared on purpose with tech sites.

Hello

Do you really think that we will get an oreo update till the end of September? Well, my opinion is that the possibility is quite low.

Depends how fast they can fix things but we are talking about OP here... OOS is still buggy after reports from pretty much everyone and all they add is crap like watermarks etc in camera app. Let's hope they can get it out before anyone else then I'll be impressed

Last year, OP promised Nougat by the end of the year and true to there word, it arrived on New Years Eve. If they manage the same feat this year, I for one, will be impressed. :highfive:
I know this will be the last major update so lets hope its nice and stable will no major bugs or battery draining issues.

I hope too but not much faith in OP on the software side. Lets hope they push the 8.x.x updates and not just give us 8.0 like with 7.0 is was a mess few devices I own suffer from the battery life issues and what not from that because OEM didn't push 7.1.x with the fixes

I agree that battery life is worse in Nougat. However, this is also the case with my Galaxy Tab S2 so it may be a general Nougat issue as opposed to a One Plus issue. Apart from this, I've always found OOS to be excellent and without bugs with great functionality. Samsung could learn a lot from One Plus.
Apart from the split screen mode, I'd go back to MM in a second if there were monthly security updates on both devices.

So you think that the next Open Beta for OOS or H2OS will come with Android 8 ?

When will we see Official Android 2.2 update ?

Just was wondering if we will see the official release this week. I have two
EPE54B Nexus ones. Cant wait to see the official update.
Please use the search feature. There are a lot of posts that talk about this.
I've read all the threads just havent seen any updates. And I also know I can run the update.zip on my EPE54B Nexus Ones its just to buggy right now.
I've been running the "test" froyo on my nexus since the day it was on xda. I hated loosing my beloved cm rom, but the switch was so worth it. As far as buggy, I have yet to hit any real issues, just better battery life & speed. Only annoyance is the few apps that have problems. Froyo updates are rolling out every day for those though. So until the source code is dropped, & cyanogen gets ahold of it. I'm loving this version of froyo.

Guess we will never get it. LOL

Tomorrow. No really, tomorrow. You have to make a thread about it or Google wont release it.
Well to be honest I havent found any Official Android 2.2 update threads. The only one I found is Froyo leaked or Official we all know its a test release.
Also there is nothing wrong with starting a new thread I've done my reserch on the update and just though people could voice some opinions.
You should flash the test version. I'm usually very anxious when updates are looming but I could wait another couple of months after flashing the test update. I have some issues but very very minor, go for it OP, you'll probably forget all about the official update. Ok not really but it helps alot
Google annouced at the IO conference to expect the update at the beginning of June, the beginning of June is tomorrow. Patience is a virtue
I might give the Test update a try my wife has the Nexus with the unlocked bootloader so I would have to either put it on hers or unlock the virgin Nexus that I have. I have Cm on hers and she loves so unless I de virginize mine I'll just have to wait for the official update.
So wait..... no one else got it? I updated last night!

T-Mobile Video Calling Update

http://newsroom.t-mobile.com/issues-insights-blog/video-calling.htm
Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ and Samsung Galaxy Note 5 now have T-Mobile Video Calling available through simple software updates, while the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge updates will be available next week.

Hopefully this will also bring Samsung Pay, RCS and some of the other enhancements seen in later builds on Sprint and other carriers.
So this means next Sunday night 11:59PM pacific time
Actually the advanced messaging excites me more than the video calling does.
Sent from my SM-G920T using Tapatalk
Just a speculation but I'm thinking since T-Mobile announced the advanced messaging features a couple months ago this update may only be that since the development and testing would of taken some time. I'm probably wrong but I kind of see the advanced messaging update coming and then if not on just before the 28th for the update Sprint received a few days ago to coincide with the Samsung Pay launch. Of course they may have bundled all this together but we wont know that till sometime next week.

I'm not sure what you're exactly trying to say, but in any event, Samsung Pay has already begun rollout, Advanced Messaging and Video Calling are standard on GS6E+ and Note5... The testing is done, we're getting it all.

I'm not saying we arnt gonna get all the features like advanced messaging or samsung pay and the UI changes I'm simply suggesting unless samsung bundled it all into one massive update we may only get the advanced messaging update next week and the one with samsung pay and all the other goodies either on or just before the 28th launch in the US. But since there is no proof that this update contains anything more then the messaging features we will just have to wait and see.
I guess I'll have to enable VoLTE in order to use this... I'll have to decide between features or battery life.

Does anyone know about when they release the updates is it early morning/afternoon/evening or is it sporadic and just have to keep checking? Hoping it comes tomorrow I'm excited to see if it has all the stuff sprint got a week ago.
Darn nothing today hoping for tomorrow!

Is m31 better after updates or worse ?

I have m31 for a week now, software updates are there but didn't download them yet
If anyone have done so, is the update stable and making the phone better or just wasting ram and battery
I am running on the latest update as of 2 Aug, 2020. If you are running on the same firmware which comes pre installed then you should update because most bugs have been fixed which were occuring and phone overheating problem while charging has been reduced a lot for me. It is definitely better after all updates.

I have updated it and is as same as one ui 2.1 just an update of sos facility in messages . I didn't found any update in camera just night mode quality increased.
I just found it as a wastage of 984 mb so i am waiting for update of one ui 3.0.
Pros :-
Night mode is better than before
Sos messages facility
Split keyboard in landscape mode
Cons :-
Waste of 984 mb data since my daily data is completely exhausted
Sometimes play store crashes
Just the ar mode too lags and finally crashes
If you just want to say to everybody that i have a new one ui 2.5 update haha then you can download it and waste your data....
Sorry if someone feels bad with my words, i just wanted to tell that nowdays system update is just a joke either they start making the phone hang or is just useless. Sorry for my frustrated language.
I will definitely tell if i find something useful in this update.
Waiting for custom os since they are faster. When i updated my phone it took a long time but custom os install faster than stock os i.e the os prepared by mobile companies. Thanks for xda.
Regards
Chaitanya

OneUI 3.0 Beta Coming Soon

By what i have read and according to the below article, we should see the beta later this week ......
https://www.sammobile.com/news/sams...0-beta-with-galaxy-z-flip-more-to-follow/amp/
Cool, cant wait till someone will dump the file for us
The beta for the S10 has been released, so my guess is Tomorrow for the Z Fold 2......(Unconfirmed)........but ......fingers Crossed......?
Would be nice, if someone from the UK, Germany or India (who registered for the Beta) could pull the update.zip with i.e. HttpCanary
I'm think we should have to wait few more days https://www.sammobile.com/news/samsung-locked-out-galaxy-z-fold-2-users-with-one-ui-3-0-beta/

Well that's concerning, LOL.
Although I will say I hope they release OneUI 3.0 soon for the Z Fold 2. I LOVE it ony Note 20 Ultra. The changes are significant, but subtle. Just enough to make it feel like a new device, but familiar.
New Beta 2 has been released:
Can't post a link but it's on tizenhelp dot com
yes, finally hope someone will dump it soon https://www.tizenhelp.com/one-ui-3-0-beta-update-for-galaxy-z-fold-2-resumed/
Although it has been released for them, it's for the F916N model and not the F916U model. To my knowledge there's only snapdragon CPUs in the fold 2 but, I don't know if that'll impact the probability of a successful flash. If someone does manage to snag the file, backup before attempting it. I have a galaxy s20 ultra and the amount of people that issues with the beta was almost unrealistic and a lot of it can be alleviated with backup. If the beta is anything like it is for the s20 series, you will not be able to restore your data if you choose to return to stable 10. Hopefully sometime next week we'll see something for the F916U.

The official roadmap just dropped and we're supposed to be getting the official in January. A little outside the discourse but at this point I figured I'm going to wait and skip dealing with the beta and others might have a similar plan knowing it's going to hit relatively soon.

Question SM-G998B AUE1 MAY UPDATE

You can post what you feel about the update here .
For me
1) qr code in camera app is way faster
2) camera doesnt heat up the phone now
3) gaming also runs cooler
4) animations are better
5) expect an sot of 1h more than you got with april update.
Looking for more changes ..
Tell me in comment .
I think samsung is doing a great job ,
I was about to trade off my s21 ultra with mi 11 ultra , but this update has stopped me doing so.
I can't wait until my phone recieve the update.
This is so promising that samsung still fixing and adding new features every month.
I would say a 10% better everything even though it might be a placebo. All running smooth. Used the camera a lot today for pics and videos. Youtube, browsing and etc, and now 3:33 SOT and battery at 46%. I guess that may be a tad better than before. Camera seems better too somehow.

I think they are moving towards apple kind of ecosystem and software.
And if they can do that , i am not leaving samsung for as long as they maintain that .
They still need to work on animations , accidental touches, and 60-120 hz management in some apps

Everything is running smoothly. Battery I think is maybe 5-10% better but have to give it a few days. Can't comment on the camera yet. Usage is on WiFi, 120Hz, FHD+.

Try Frija, its very fast to download it.
wise advice. I only use one time to install PHE before change CSC, then always wait for OTA
OKay, will wait it out then. Last month I received the update on April 9th; so this time I presume it will be similarly timed.
I'm able to achieve 10hours Sot (48 hours cycle) on this release, prior to that the sot was in the 8/9 hours. I mostly use browser, youtube, youtube music and ocasional gaming (Wild Rift)
On Vodafone model in UK so I expect it will be a couple of weeks before I get this but it sounds like it makes what is already one of the best phones money can buy even better.
