Hi everyone, I'm looking for a note 5 rom that is stable and doesn't remove functions like s pen because i use that a lot.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
You can have look at infinity rom on samsungvn. İt updated to lastest security patch. It is stable. But i went to stock rom back. My battery can't carry the s8 ports lol. Give a try for this rom mate.
Infinity FE 2.1 edition is the best bet (in samsungvn).. I am on it now.
Does flashing other touchwiz roms break knox? Do you have to unlock your bootloader in order to do so? I'm familiar with flashing but I've never done it on my note 5, so I'm curious.

Flash a rom break knox but you can simulate knox like Khongloi rom (secured folder works for example)
You have to update your bootloader if you are not on marshmallow

Can anyone suggest me the best (till now) Note 7 rom for Note 5 (N920G) with most of the Note 7 features working like new s-pen features, grace ux, Always-on-display (AOD) and have a near stock experience.
There are alot note 7 roms out there in the fourm but I am confused about which would be the best.
Also please help me and can you also suggest me the best rooting method for the phone with TWRP...
Thank's for your Help...

I also own a 920G variant.
I don't know about it being a complete or partial Note 7 based ROM.. but after trying a lot of different options and getting frustrated (weak battery performance, no gear vr, freezes and crashes) I am finally really happy for several weeks now: been using TEKXodus Ultra Hybrid 13.8 ROM + SkyHigh Kernel v7.6.0 (not available anymore on xda, but google the official skyhigh478 wordpress page). You need to flash kernel right after flashing the ROM before 1st boot. Highly recommend this combo.

But is AOD working in that combo?
I don't know, how do I check?

My phone is not rooted, though I stopped updating at 7.1.1 because apparently the ability to root was patched out soon after. I still don't really plan on rooting, but it would be nice if I had the option.
Is there any way to root my phone (if it isn't already) after updating to 8.x or the 9.0 beta?
No, currently not and I think it is very unlikely it will be possible in near future.
What about rooting beforehand? I know the bootloader was never unlocked, so I'm guessing there are no custom ROMs that I could update to, right?

I am not sure about this but rooting through magic works for us on exynos variant and I think there was a root kind of option for snapdragon like a bootstrapper, doesn't that work or the combination factory firmware?

1. NO , Doesn't matter you'll lose the chance to root when you update to oreo (that comes with bootloader v4) and pie!
2. This thread (link below) and the WETA rom is the only nougat 7.1.1 custom rom for SM-N950u/u1.

Be careful once you update your bootloader to version 4 you'll lose root period.
edit. For corrections with oreo root. You can update to oreo As Long As the bootloader is v3.

The version you have now is so much slower that you have long ago lost any benefits of waiting to root!

The early versions of Oreo used bootloader 3.

I'll probably just go ahead and update then. I used to root every phone, so that was important when I first bought it, but in over a year I haven't needed it once. Probably not worth staying on a much older version for something I likely won't use.
Thank you for the replies!
I have this same problem i'm on unrooted nougat 7.1.1 and have been patiently waiting for a bootloader unlock. But, one ui is looking so good I might just give up and update. I also use samsung pay and other things that I would lose with root/BL unlock.

Yeah, I was holding out hope for a BL unlock, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. Most people seem to be shifting their focus to newer phones, which is understandable.
Hello people as the title states I recently purchased a note 9. I wanted to get the N960F model but when it arrived, to my surprise it was a N9600, which is no problem for me because snapdragon is a good thing, the only downside is the fewer development.
Anyhow I have some. Questions and I would like to hear your recommendations As I'm waiting the 7 days for the OEM unlock to appear.
1. Should I update the system? My n9 came with Android 8.1.0,but I don't know if I update it would be detrimental for the sake of rooting
2. Is this model rootable? I believe so but could you direct me to the thread on that regard.
3. Would you recommended self de bloating with TB or try WETA Rom?
4. What would you suggest: stay on stock + root or WETA Rom?
5. I've seen a lot of pie complains so should I stay on Oreo or give Pie a try? I come from the OnePlus3, I'm a former flashoholic XD and 'til my last moments with the OP3 I had HavocOS which was pie based, thus I'm hesitant to look back to Oreo.
6. This should be 1st but anyway do I need to unlock the bootloader or something special before rooting and installing twrp?
7. I've read that development for the SD version is difficult and that AOSP Roms are stuck because of gpu frequencies and other stuff, but do you think that this version will receive some. More loving from the development department in the future?
Thanks in advance guys and I appreciate your time in reading and for any suggestions you may give.
yes
Just like exynos, the bootloader is unlocked and you can always root it, version does not matter, pie , oreo. and yes you can also run all the GSIs on the phone cause its a Treble enabled device which helps a lot with roms and i think there will be much more roms for n9600 as well as soon as it ages a bit and people start rooting them. You could install WETA ROM or any other ROM / Kernel, Rooting is same as Exynos model except the TWRP has to be for Snapdragon

Thanks mate, in terms of rooting, should I use official magisk of a custom one?
On the twrp thread for the SD variant people mention the official. They just recommend versions 18.1 for Oreo and 19 for pie, is that alright?
And if I update my firmware and software over Ota before rotring and installing twrp, will it be a problem?
Is there anyway to get official Android 11 and oneui 3 for galaxy note 9 or even GSI ROM ??
If official theres almost no hope dude

Then what about GSI ROM
Does anyone know if there are already some devs working on a custom one ui 3 rom for the note 9?

wish there was note 8 support :'(
Hi, I'm new here and also suck at all things tech.
I recently got the Note 9 and it's just a beautiful phone in almost all aspects. I'm having some problems with it, but that's for another forum. I want to ask here about rooting and ROMs. Can the Note 9 be rooted and are there ROMs available for it? If so, what is the easiest way for me to go about rooting it and installing a custom ROM? Do I look for computer and cell phone stores in my city and ask them?
One of my past phones was rooted and had a custom ROM. It was splendid just because of the ROM and from then on, I couldn't imagine having a phone I didn't root and get a custom ROM for. Unfortunately, since then, all my phones have been ZTE which-- at least for a long time-- didn't have any available ROMs. If this phone can be rooted and upgraded with a custom ROM, awesome. If I can fix the other issues first.
You didn't say what processor your phone has so here goes:
For Snapdragon CPUs: https://forum.xda-developers.com/f/samsung-galaxy-note-9-snapdragon-roms-kernels.8318/
For Exynos CPUs: https://forum.xda-developers.com/f/samsung-galaxy-note-9-exynos-roms-kernels-reco.8016/
There are many custom ROMs, kernels, etc here in the XDA sections. In my opinion NobleROM would be one of the best ones just from what I've read/seen about it.
But do ask yourself if you really need root and a custom ROM on the Note9. I'm a guy who could never imagine having an unrooted phone until I got the Note9 - it has everything I'd want stock and there is also GoodLock modules which are made specifically for OneUI by Samsung and don't require root.
PS: Just NEVER put a Snapdragon ROM/kernel on an Exynos phone and vice versa or you'll most likely brick it.
