Yes. I have (or will have soon) sm-n950f. Unfortunately I can't help because it's been ordered but hasn't shipped yet. Should ship tomorrow.

That's strange that it's not there. The s8 was as simple as flipping a switch in developer options right? I found only this one article on it which claims its in developer options but the article looks kind of shady to me. Some typos and all of a sudden he starts mentioning LG half way down so not sure if it's any help. Take a look:

Damn, didn't think so. Sorry I can't be of more help. I'm rooting for you guys. Hope you find it, we won't get far without it.
I've unlocked a lot of phones both before and after that switch was added. The scary scenario is that all Note8's are locked. I hope not because I like this phone and would hate to have to sell it. There are others though, could be the switch is hidden, could be you don't need it, etc. Lets not lose hope yet.

I sure hope they aren't all locked. I went to great lengths and expense to get the international version. Even switched carriers to get it.

I've been doing a bunch of google searches on this and I'm seeing some mixed messages. The majority of what I'm seeing say if oem unlock is not there, it's because the oem or carrier has removed it because they don't want you to unlock the BL.
I did see 2 instances where people say if you have an international version of a phone and it's not there, it's because it comes with the BL already unlocked and thus that option doesn't need to be there.
While I hope that's the case, I doubt it. For 2 reasons. 1- the vast majority of what I'm seeing basically say the oem has removed it and your **** out of luck. 2- the international s8 had it there so it's unlikely it just comes with the BL unlocked from the factory.
Edit: And now I'm even more confused. There is a guy here that says he has it in his dev options and he has a screenshot to show it.

Is it possible to develop a version of CyanogenMod (either 9.1 or 10) for those of us who have locked bootloaders?
I have been watching the Xperia S and other Xperia phones forums and there are some threads about MIUI and CyanogenMod for locked bootloaders. It seems these versions work by removing the kernel so we the stock one is kept on the phone.
Anyone with a bit of knowledge who cares to explain? Feel free to chime in :fingers-crossed:

There has also been no evidence so far of them leaving massive security holes in the device like Samsung did with the GS3 and GN2.

But that is very different, especially regarding the security used. Also that was done by Anonymous, who are highly skilled at having. Devs and hackers are different and have different skill sets.

Mobile division is fairly separate from the PS3 division. After all, it was a joint venture between Sony and Ericsson until not too long ago.
Most if not all of the software/bootloader engineering is still done by teams in Sweden as far as I can tell.
An exploit might be found, but it is NOT going to be remotely as easy as the Verizon Samsungs. Both of those required either leaks from disgruntled employees or security design mistakes (or possibly sabotage) in the device.
One of the key things that led to the GN2 compromise was the fact that only one GN2 variant had a secure boot chain.
ALL Xperia Ts have a secure boot chain - the only thing that differs in unlockability is what serial numbers are whitelisted on Sony's servers that provide unlock codes.
Hello I just upgraded from the droid maxx to the droid turbo and I love this phone bit for some reason whenever I do any sort of thing on it. The CPU gets extremely hot. According to my pjone y CPU has reached all the way to 139°f and right now I am only using the internet and it has gone from 90°f to 134°f. Is this normal? I can understand if I am using a lot of apps at one time but I am only using the internet and it keeps getting hotter and the app I am using to check my CPU temputure says that at this tempurture it can damage my phone. Should I take it in to have it looked at?

Apparently this is a common problem. I just called VZW today about it and they are overnighting me a brand new device since they have no refurbs left due to sending out so many replacements.
Thank you for the information. I just called them and they said because I bought the phone less than 2 weeks ago they will replace it with a brand new one. However, I wonder if they are ever going to be able to root the droid turbo. Because if they ever do that will help the battery life and would probably other things like the heating problem

I wish I could say I was even hopeful for root at this point but there seems to be no interest in working on a Verizon exclusive Moto device. Our only chance, in my opinion, is if we can benefit from someone taking on this years Moto X.

The battery is going to get hot because of many things. Its not a over heating issue. Just because Verizon says it is doesnt make it a problem. Verizon half the time has no clue. Call motorola they will give u the best information. They will tell you its normal.

Read my post a little more carefully next time. It says "there seems to be no interest", not to mention none of the Motos havent seen a full root exploit since 444 came out. Roughly a year of no further development for an OEM would suggest little to no interest in my opinion

Its common knowledge here on XDA. Research it sometime.

Commenters like myself? Are you serious?! Last I checked there a no rules about posting your opinion whenever you please. Never once have I asked a Dev for an ETA or update. So unless stating your point of view on a subject would deter a Dev from releasing anything, which is unlikely, how about you get off your high horse and quit acting like an entitled troll. Its commenters like you that have given XDA a bad rep

I purchased Lg G6 unlocked t-mobile from ebay India on a half price of original "this is what I was patting my back with pride for" for a while though. Well, today I got a prompt on my phone screen that T-mobile temporary unlock period is expired, please reboot. I could smell the issue by now and as soon as I rebooted another message said "Network Lock". Now my sim does not have network signals. It is as good as a brick because I do not have t-mobile sim nor I think this phone was outright'ly purchased before it landed in my hands.
Looking for options:
1) does flashing custom rom (If available) release the network lock?
2) are there software available that can unlock without t-mobile sim?
3) are there paid unlock services available for foreign network?
4) any other that I am not aware of?

Sadly only option is to return/get a refund for the phone I’m sure eBay will work in your favour due to this.
Try the network unlock app (purple icon) and request unlock that way. Make sure your on WiFi.
If that doesn’t work only solution is to buy a app unlock on eBay which usually varies in price. And that’s only if the phones imei is not blacklisted

Thanks for the guidance.
I contacted my local market repair shop, he tried unlocking with his software but failed. He tried unlocking by sending a request to some recognised network unlocker but failed. Now he is suggesting a solution that a modified software flashing can be done to revoke the network lock from it for which I'm unsure about.
While surfing for the resolution, I have come across 2 options,
1 - flashing a ROM for H872 from this xda post.
2 - Have gone through several "GSMHosting" forum pages and people are doing network unlocking at ease with logs as proof. Is this all legit?

1. Flashing a rom is not going to unlock it.
2. No it’s not legit to unlock a T-Mobile phone unless T-Mobile themselfs unlock it. But there’s plenty of app unlocking services on eBay between $15 and $30 usually. And if they can’t unlock it it’ll just be a WiFi only device.

Its not that I read your post after a month but I responded late cuz been busy with my stuff and 2ndly your phone still works. I have helped about 21 people so far who have network lock issue, few came back to me to say it worked for them and few dint. All I know is that it worked for me and may work for others too. If my intention was just to keep it to myself I would have already wiped out my relevant posts.
However, thats not the point, point is this forum have ample of info already to understand how to fix this issue but all it takes is to read through all the pages and posts which most people dont take pain for.

Listen, arif238 just decided it was ez'ier to quote everyone who posted asking you a question of the solution, folks who were basically in the same boat with him. What do we call this...lazy fingers. My response was calling this out, if you didn't realize. He too should have written you a DM for the solution, right?
BTW again thanx for sharing the solution with me. I didn't pursue it though. I decided to return the units and got a US997.

I have the same problem. I got my phone online for half price too! At first when I entered my local sim, it was working. The phone was new so I wanted to explore it and opened the device unlock app to see what it was about. Tried pressing permanent unlock but it said failed. Then tried temporary and it approved. 2 days ago, it said that the unlock period has expired or something and it the network tag said "network locked". T-mobile lets you temporarily unlock your phone twice a month. So I've unlocked it for another month but won't be able to do it again. Please helpp!!

@mannunikhil said that they found a way. I really don't want to go through the headache of transferring everything on to my computer and reinstall and restore all the apps on my old phone and then do the same when I replace it after I get my claim.
I picked up my Note 9 from Rent A Center, it said "duos" on the box. It says sm-n9600, build number ends in hu1arg6. I'm asking because the way rent a center has their phones configured, set up is kinda weird and I may want to root, etc. So I want to make sure I don't have compatibility issues. One thing I did was run a program that shows it has a sd845. Not sure how accurate that program was, forgot the name.

One thing I did was run a program that shows it has a sd845. Not sure how accurate that program was, forgot the name.

Thank you. First app let force closing but the second one basically just said codename crown, n9600, sd845. So I don't need to worry about compatibility issues as long as ROMs etc are for a 9600, even with it being dual SIM and all that? Or are they all basically dual SIM?

I can't be sure,but,I believe so.
As for compatible ROMs,I think there's currently 1-2 for the SM-N9600,check w/the developers for info on single/Dual SIM compatibility.

Thank you for all the assistance
You have the HK/Latin america snap version, your bootloader can be unlocked!
There isnt as much development for this version typically as on the exynos but at least your not stuck with a crappy device thats locked down tighter than a drum.
Yo, I have a note 9 from rent a center as well and was hoping to get a little help here.
I have the N9600 ending in JHDF
I do believe that its unlocked but rent a center did a few modifications that I can't gain access to developer options. I did find a way in by stopping the set up process and get into developer options but I couldnt turn on usb debugging which is where I am.
How can I get into that to root? Can I flash the original N9600 to see if I can remove rent a center setup? Or can I straight up flash twrp and root from there? I probably have to flash some other file but I'm unsure. Any kind of help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

It's probably restricted in some way due to the terms of agreement they offer when you buy the phone from them. If it's paid off they should be able to remove it for you.

From what I understand, they do a rent-to-own. Not sure why they have 9600s? I would have assumed they would use N960U.

I kinda of figured that and was hoping someone was already able get bypassed it and still rooted. I didnt want to have to wait till I'd be able to pay it off to root it.

My guess is they probably buy those because they are more easily able to install their tracking and lock-down software on it. They probably have the bootloader unlocked, a custom rom with their software installed, and then re-lock it all.
There was a fella on the note 8 forums a while back with similar questions with a renta center device.

Yea......that's right. Curiosity got me....I looked it up....no way.

Yup. They use the 9600. And if you pay it off in 6 months, then the phone costs $1,871. But if you use the full 78 weeks to pay it off, then it costs $3,119. That's insane.
My concern would be the original owner would stop making their weekly RAC payments, and you get locked out of your Note 9. I believe that's what happened to the guy in the Note 8 forums.
I would assume that the prices from RAC are different depending on the region because in California right now the 6 month buy out cost us 1400 and at the long term is about 1900 which us still extremely high but some people have very bad credit or no credit at all and have to resort to something like this. The only other reason I did get us is because it has an unlocked bootloader and will be able to root it and start moding it to my preference etc. But I will have to wait till I pay it off now. I was hoping someone had already found a way around RAC type of lockdown.
Oh my god... How do they convince people to pay over three times the price for this phone?

I mean... Priorities? There are any number of other smartphone alternatives besides a three thousand dollar phone that's actually worth less than 1k. If you're that desperate to obtain the latest Note device maybe shift that determination onto sorting out one's personal finances? That's just my thoughts.

First of all, I have my priorities and my finances are well in order. I can go on about credit, interest rates and over pricing for a smartphone, you dont know what I need this smartphone and its definitely not not all for pleasure. For you to go out of your way and quote me on something like this and judge me on my finances is just plan ignorant but if you amuses you, go right ahead quote me, I wont play your game and simply ignore it from here on out. I'm just here for help and guidance on information about the phone and root.

It wasn't specifically directed at you. I'm sorry for not qualifying my comment.
I found a guide to root snapdragon. Is it finally possible? I can't post links, but the guide was taken from reddit.
Root has been possible on snapdragon-based SM-G97_0 for a few months now, but not the G97_U. What matters is the ability to unlock the bootloader.
There's a guy working on unlocking the bootloader for the snapdragon S10+ (G975U) over in the S10+ forum, he is making a little progress on it too.

LOL, if it's the US 975U, no he's not. He won't do it until Samsung decides it's OK.... Maybe 3 or 4 years.

What? Why is this thread still here? You can't root U.S. S10 variants as far as I know.

The guy who started the thread was soliciting help to get it to work, but that doesn't mean he succeeded. If you dig into the replies, the only known success in the U.S. is the Exynos version. The Sprint S10 5G version (SM-G977P) is the only exception and success for Snapdragon. Other U.S. models like SM-G977U are hopeless.

Oops, duplicate post.
Reviving a thread. There is a post on XDA-labs that days bootloader unlock has been achieved for US and Canadian Snapdragon phones. There is no feedback and no XDA forum thread.
XDA labs link
It seems the guy that wrote the article I posted decided to create an app for it to make it easier to get your bootloader unlocked.
I'm just surprised that there isn't lots of discussion about it. The S10 series was very popular. There would be a lot of interest. I'm a bit out of date on XDA; maybe they don't allow promotion of paid services?
They may not, I don't know. Some one made it so TWRP recovery works with our phones, of course you need the bootloader unlocked to use it which costs money.
Its available
what's available?
Root for the S10 line of US snapdragon phones.

Correct me if im wrong but I saw a youtube video on someone who called T-Mobile and I guess told them they were a developer for the play store and he said the tech unlocked it remotely for him. I should have kept the post but he posted a screenshot of the oen unlock option on the snapdragon S10. I dont know if its true or not just remember seeing it.
