I found a guide to root snapdragon. Is it finally possible? I can't post links, but the guide was taken from reddit.
Root has been possible on snapdragon-based SM-G97_0 for a few months now, but not the G97_U. What matters is the ability to unlock the bootloader.
There's a guy working on unlocking the bootloader for the snapdragon S10+ (G975U) over in the S10+ forum, he is making a little progress on it too.

LOL, if it's the US 975U, no he's not. He won't do it until Samsung decides it's OK.... Maybe 3 or 4 years.

The guy who started the thread was soliciting help to get it to work, but that doesn't mean he succeeded. If you dig into the replies, the only known success in the U.S. is the Exynos version. The Sprint S10 5G version (SM-G977P) is the only exception and success for Snapdragon. Other U.S. models like SM-G977U are hopeless.

Oops, duplicate post.
Reviving a thread. There is a post on XDA-labs that days bootloader unlock has been achieved for US and Canadian Snapdragon phones. There is no feedback and no XDA forum thread.
XDA labs link
It seems the guy that wrote the article I posted decided to create an app for it to make it easier to get your bootloader unlocked.
I'm just surprised that there isn't lots of discussion about it. The S10 series was very popular. There would be a lot of interest. I'm a bit out of date on XDA; maybe they don't allow promotion of paid services?
They may not, I don't know. Some one made it so TWRP recovery works with our phones, of course you need the bootloader unlocked to use it which costs money.
Its available
what's available?

Correct me if im wrong but I saw a youtube video on someone who called T-Mobile and I guess told them they were a developer for the play store and he said the tech unlocked it remotely for him. I should have kept the post but he posted a screenshot of the oen unlock option on the snapdragon S10. I dont know if its true or not just remember seeing it.

That's strange that it's not there. The s8 was as simple as flipping a switch in developer options right? I found only this one article on it which claims its in developer options but the article looks kind of shady to me. I've unlocked a lot of phones both before and after that switch was added. The scary scenario is that all Note8's are locked. I hope not because I like this phone and would hate to have to sell it. There are others though, could be the switch is hidden, could be you don't need it, etc. Lets not lose hope yet.

I sure hope they aren't all locked. I went to great lengths and expense to get the international version. Even switched carriers to get it.

I've been doing a bunch of google searches on this and I'm seeing some mixed messages. The majority of what I'm seeing say if oem unlock is not there, it's because the oem or carrier has removed it because they don't want you to unlock the BL.
I did see 2 instances where people say if you have an international version of a phone and it's not there, it's because it comes with the BL already unlocked and thus that option doesn't need to be there.
While I hope that's the case, I doubt it. For 2 reasons. 1- the vast majority of what I'm seeing basically say the oem has removed it and your **** out of luck. 2- the international s8 had it there so it's unlikely it just comes with the BL unlocked from the factory.
Edit: And now I'm even more confused. There is a guy here that says he has it in his dev options and he has a screenshot to show it.

Are all US carriers and unlocked models the same hardware? If I unlock the AT&T SM-N960U I bought will it work on Sprint and Verizon? If I flash the AT&T version to Verizon or unlocked ROM, will it be unlocked for all carriers and Samsung Pay/Google Pay working correctly? Thanks.

Searched a while and I think I pieced together that all the models are the same. Unlocked model just don't have bloats nor timely updates. Most seems to like carrier models better and T-Mobile (and Sprint model?) have firmware to enable unique LTE bands

You supposedly have to flash the unlocked firmware and then the firmware of the carrier you want. I can't seem to find unlocked firmware on https://samsung-firmware.org/model/SM-N960U/ or if that's even the right spot. I've spent hours trying to figure this out and I think I give up.
Maybe its just assumed then, but all US models should be identical except for firmware. Samsung has been doing this for a bit, so there might not be a note 9 thread on it, but it was that way on note 8. Flashing factory official carrier firmwares makes it where any US model can use any firmware as far as I know.

Hi everyone!
I am wondering if there is still a way for unlocking the bootloader of P20 Pro.
Basically, as you might already know, Huawei has removed the "bootloader unlock" page from its website. The paid service (DU-Unlocker) also does not have the device listed in its supported models.
Is there any working method now in 2019 whether it is free or paid or as a service that can unlock the bootloader of this device?
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
I used this guy on eBay:

It took him a few days to do it, but it worked great!
Cheers

Hello, pardon me for inquiring further if you truly meant bootloader unlock code for p20 pro from "fonzdirect" on ebay, the seller you mentioned, as he does not provide bootloader unlock codes. His service only unlocks the SIM card to be used on other mobile phone carriers outside of U.K. "02 network", Vodafone, and perhaps others. I did not find his store to provide the service in which this thread is referencing. For the sake of accuracy, might you be conflating the two?
I have paid MinistryofSolutions the 30Euros on Christmas Day for the p20 pro bootloader unlock; however, that was the week his unlock services went down. I was refunded my money that same afternoon and have noticed the website reflect his no longer being able to provide the codes. I cannot justify paying a cent more for FunkyHawaii for what I will use it for. I simply want VoLTE and VoWiFI to be enabled on AT&T through property flags. Cheers.

there is no possibility at the moment the bootloader is not yet released by LG

Agreed. I'm not interested in root where I have to ship my phone off somewhere or buy phone from someone.
The mint (unrooted) V35 I have (but not using) is because someone on XDA offered to sell me theirs -- so they could buy rooted V35 from China. A few weeks later, they updated me on their progress -- said the rooted phone they received from China not nearly great condition like the one they sold me.

Yes, sorry - I mis-spoke - I did mean unlocked. In any case, for those of us who want to relieve ourselves of factory bloatware and have an unlocked and rooted phone, which model number would it be? There are variants all over the map.

What confuses me is that some indications suggest that rooting the Snapdragon variant will work, though opinions are all over the map, and not all of them are current. Since development is constantly in motion, it's hard to know for sure.
Here's the link to a guide for rooting with Magisk:

Here's a guide to flashing TWRP for Snapdragon S10 (which wouldn't be possible without root, I presume):

Am I just reading all of this wrong? I'm sure you can appreciate that with all this conflicting information and hundreds upon hundreds of pages across multiple threads, it's hard to know for sure.

Exynos models can be rooted. Only some snapdragon models can be rooted, but they aren't U.S. models. The U.S. model phones are locked down tight.

Why are you linking external links shot TWRP, magisk and rooting when this place has all the answers already in the other s10 sub forum? I guess searching is not your forte [emoji90]

Alright there, hotshot. Show me where the thread is that matches my phone variant, and I'll take it from there.

Except... this. Hence my confusion. Some of y'all are saying yes, others are saying no. It's hard to know what to do for sure.

That article is not accurate. You can only root the top two models on that list.

See? That wasn't so hard, was it? There's a difference between being lazy and being confused by conflicting information. Wouldn't it be better to give someone the benefit of the doubt and try to help, instead of making snarky comments and hurling recriminations?
It has been well known that it's been at least several years or more since a US Samsung phone could be rooted.

To be expected if you've been a Samsung user all along. I've been an HTC user across the Tilt, HD2, Inspire, One and 10. That covers about... what... fifteen years?
So, "well known" to some is not so much to others. Obviously you immerse yourself in this, follow it vigorously, and therefore have knowledge that others don't. I buy a phone every couple years for business and personal use. I unlock, root, perhaps install a custom ROM but not always, install the necessary apps (TiBu, AdAware, etc.) and I'm done with it. It's not a hobby to me.
That said, I've already sent the phone back. Safe to assume the G975F/DS is what I'd be in need of?

Nope, wrong on all accounts. I came to the S9 then S10 after years of owning and developing firmware for Motorola phones. It doesn't take a genius to read and do a little research before they sink almost a grand into a phone. It also only takes less than a minute to Google and find the answer you've been hashing about for days. It sure as hell doesn't take a genius to figure out how to Google or even search XDA for that matter. Hell, it's been mentioned here a 100 times. If it takes you this long to figure out if you can root, you probably don't want to try.
