The back cover is coming loose!! - Xiaomi Mi 5 Questions & Answers

I have noticed that the back cover of my Mi5 has bent in the middle and because of that is coming loose and now there's a big gap on both sides! (see photo)
No matter how hard I press on it it doesn't clip in!
Could it be because of over-heating? Has anyone has had this problem?
Thanks.

Could be the battery going bad and starting to swell. Have you removed the back cover to see what's going on under it?

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
I have removed the back cover and the battery seems OK but it could easily be that the reason!
I don't know if it's related but the battery performance on my phone is not very good, the maximum SOT I get is 2 hours, doesn't matter which rom I use!
Maybe I should look into replacing the battery but I bought the phone in February!

I just had a similar problem and just re-adjusted the battery contacts and it stopped. However my phone would reboot if I put the phone down hard.

Mines the same but think due to extended life battery cover so stuck a thin bit of card in the back to make the battery move less and hasn't happened since.
agreed
definitely sounds like the same problem i had. replace the battery, it worked for me.
My Tilt also gets hot when using wifi
I'll try the new battery suggestion
i think you need to change the battery. for me, the battery life is around 1 year before it begin to reset.

I agree with ur comments about the battery life and just to add...
1 year for original battery and
almost 6 months for non-original battery....
i experienced both... my first original battery runs out in almost a year and then i purchased an extended battery of 2800 mah and that runs out in only 6 months....
So, just replace ur battery before experimenting with ur set..

Extended battery users info needed

I am have been thinking about getting an extended battery but all the ones i have seen have been too big. Today i found this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EXTENDED-BATT...t=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1c15e058f4#shId . I was just wondering if anyone has this particular battery and if the pictures are accurate because ive seen plenty of photoshopping ebay sellers in my time . Thanks
It is not the original one. Anyway you can try it. Not so much money. I am using the extended battery and i have to say only good works. Ok the phone becomes bigger from behind, but i can keep it now better. The feel in the hands is better i think. Also, i charge my phone every 4 days or 5. It depends on the usage. Ok you decide at the end
It fits
and works great. Easier to hold. Not to bulky and runs for days with normal use. Charged to 100% on Fri. at 2pm. Now Sunday at 10 am at 58%. Lite use.

I have heard that the power management micro-chip is located in the phone, not in battery then therefore, it would count with fixed standard battery capacity. In Vietnam, our HD2 users experienced they have to take out the extended battery and re-mount it again since the power management chip will shutdown the phone when battery discharged to apprx. 1250mAh as standard.
Any idea???
FYI, I planned to buy a extended battery then have to consult you all Appreciate your comment. My firmware is 1.66.707.1 (76641) WWE

Yes i think the phone with extended thick battery has much better grip to handle!, and it even protects the camera lens when you put it on a surface.
got same
I've got same one a little cheaper:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...27801&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_1333wt_1135
It works great, but back cover is quite easy to unlock, sometimes fall off.
Anyone experienced?
I received the battery and it is A LOT thinner than i expected it to be. As other users have mentioned it makes the phone feel more secure in my hand. The kickstand is very hard to get out. (especially for me since i have very short nails). The battery is currently at 88% so ill test it tommorow and report back on how well it does.
Overall it looks like a very good product for the price and i would recommend it (if it holds up in my testing)
i've bought the same battery from a different seller...tbattery shows the same specs as the original; however, like the poster above mentioned once I took the battery out and reinsert it I got approximately another 40% out of the battery(turning the phone off and bak on will Not do it)...
first time since buying the phone I havnt had to recharge it overnight...

some people say this fixes itself after the first charge/discharge cycle and others say you have to apply htc's patch. I hope one of these is the case because i'd hate to have to be doing that all the time
Update: After fully discharging and recharging the battery i am haveing the same issue as some people. The battery discharges at a similar rate to the stock battery and when it powers off i have to take the battery out and re insert it to get the rest of the power (which is aroung 60%). Im going to try upgrading to the latest official rom to see if it helps

didn't work
The HD2s we use at work have the extended battery - looks like that one. I find it makes the handset too bulky for me but most everyone else finds them more comfortable to hold. Either way extra battery life is never a bad thing - especially if you're using GPS a lot.
cover
i use a cover on mine, obviously for scratch protection.
but with the extra bulk behind, is there new covers for it?
or do you guys tske the risk from scratches
mine is a 3400mah and does not work either -.- . Did someone make it work on winmobiles ??? Really need help here !!!

[Q] Battery Problems

Hi all!, First, sorry for my bad bad english...
I have a question, hope you can understand me...
My battery drains quickly when I start charging it also full quickly ... I've tried all the methods of calibration and I still have the same problem. For example, changes from 0% to 80% charged in just 20 minutes, you can fix it with some method, or is that my battery needs a change?
Thanks for your help!
Hi
I think this is similar with all old batteries for example my battery charge to 80 very quickly. You should wait to message ""full battery charge"" about 3 hours.
Take out your back cover and see whether your battery is swollen ..if it is then you must immediately buy a new one ..throw that one as soon as possible because it can be very dangerous !
My Ace's battery lasted for about a year. Yeah as said above it will be swollen in the middle.

remove back side of ACE in picture below you can see i marked back side of connector for battery(or whatever is this) picture number 2 is tool with witch u should push in that gapp. with that you push 3 light brown (cooper) colour connectors closer to battery.(battery contact) if phone falls or just overtime connectors slip back...
i wanted to buy new battery but then i noticed this and battery works normal again
sorry for english and bad pictures i'm on holidays... i hope u get the point..
i also stuck paper betwen so it doesnt slip back..
Be careful with the screwdriver: don't touch the copper pins together when the battery is connected, else you can damage it with a short circuit!
Simply you must move the pins without the battery.

[Q] Cellphone restarting like nuts

Hello, i've got today an S3 MINI here with a strange issue, the cellphone when using it normally from all sudden it reboots and starts a weird scenario that doesn't boots up until a charger is plugged, when this happens shows an 75% 80% battery level (aprox) and the device works for a few hours normally and then it drops again.
Tried FACTORY RESET, no go... What's the next step on the issue??
Thanks!

You have a bad battery. The same thing happend to me last month. If you pull out battery, you'll probably notice it's inflated a bit.

Look closer or try to feel it with your fingers. Mine is barely visible
Or something else died in your battery. but if it can't hold charge, chargest fast and discharges even faster, restarts.. time to change the battery. They're not expensive luckaly

[QUESTION] What about the new and big capacity battery?

Hello, there. Is there any chance to install battery from HTC Butterfly S (3200mah)? The hardware of M7 and Butterfly S is the same, the batteries is almost with the same size - m7 battery is slightly longer (lol) , but both have the same connector, same voltage. Any addictional information about this project and how to fit the new battery inside of the body of M7?
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
What's the thickness of the 3200mah butterly battery compared to stock One m7 battery?
I just now searched for those batterys... And they dont fit into the m7, battery of m7 is 3mm thick and the one from butterfly s is 4mm thick. So you wont be able to close the device after replacing it with this battery. But while i was searching i found a 2450mhA battery which is made for our one m7. This one has the same exact size of what fits into our device. I think that would be the biggest battery that is made for our device.

Speaking of battery, is there even an other option outside the OEM one.

the replace itself wansn´t hard, but the first step is open the phone, and u can easy damage your back cover or display frame... so if u know open the phone gently, you won hope i helped, cuz it would be a pity if you must throw away m7 only because of battery life.. as i said, i can survive day and half now (with wifi permanently on, auto brightness, stock kernel and sense 7) without powersave mode

I used my own microscrewdriver kit and some tools from ali, so except the screwdriver (my one is not from aliexpress) i recommanded this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Uni...32784491723.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.oPqiA8
to the batteries: i would vote the first one, cuz it has more positive evaluations and is probably realy has the indicated capacity.
this is why i didn´t buy battery from ali, cuz i believe more local eshops, though the battery is made in poland ( and i have battery warranty too)

This is directly from HTC tech support. To recalibrate battery and HTC charger when battery rapidly or erratically discharges, this procedure clears all battery stats, coordinates and normalizes charging.
Turn off Fast Boot in settings. Power off phone.
Plug phone into HTC charger and charge for two minutes or more
While charging, hold down volume up+volume down+power button and continue holding
Phone will turn on and off repeatedly every 15 seconds or so while continuing to hold all three buttons
Keep this going for 2 minutes, then release buttons when phone is ON
Now, let phone charge fully normally (with phone either on or off--doesn't matter) and battery level reporting, charging and battery life should be normalized.
