Hi there after watching the unpacking event, and reading the full specs I dont really see much of an upgrade.
Yes they have added some good additions like the fingerprint scanner which is awesome, but alot of the other additions wont be used on a massive scale by all users.
Hardware wise, wasnt too inpressed on these either really, would of liked to see an octa-core version, plus the battery isnt too much of an upgrade.
But Ive found a clone version which in my eyes is better, comes with octa-core, looks exactly the same
http://www.goophone.cc/phones/goophone-s5.html
Again this is only my opinion, and of course others will feel different which is there right to do so.
I may even change my mind once ive got my hands on one and have a play, but as for right now, im quite disappointed with the S5.
And I am a Galaxy User myself currently having the Galaxy S3 and soon will have the Note 3 also.
Thanks for reading.
I'm sure this cheap knockoff will be worth every penny.
I wouldnt give you $100 for that phone ROFL. No 4G data (3G only), knockoff CPU, bigger battery 2800mah then the S4 2600mah with less talk time then the S4.
would be great but no lte? i'd like to try before I bought one haha.
It's so hard to find a flagship phone that looks good, has a replaceable battery and microsd slot.

Hmmm... No LTE is a deal breaker. 3G is barely good enough to stream YouTube vids, and sometimes it won't even stream at all on 3G.

No, it's not at all. The Note 3 is AMAZING! You should check it out.
The Note 3 in a 5 inch form factor would be perfect (spec, looks and feel). Why couldn't they make a Note 3 Mini?
I already own the Note 2 and it's a big too big now and it weight a lot. I currently have the HTC one and while the metal body is great, it feels like you're holding a brick.
Yes I do understand that it doesnt have all the features of the original and of course the price represents that. But I just wasnt really impressed with the S5 so far. As I said my opinion may change once ive had an hands on experience with the device. Its thoughts at the moment.

Don't you think users will use the improved camera (a major update - not just in megapixels) and the water proofing? The improved screen with higher and lower brightness? Yes the puls-rate monitor is a bit gimmicky but unlike ALL the "air" features of S4 these functions will improve every users daily use with the phone.
Kudos for Samsung for not focusing on the one-time-wow-factor and instead improving the users daily rutine.
Yes of course i did like that they did add what users wanted. And of course everyone is going to have there own opinion of the device,

And an unlockable bootloader on a carrier that actually has service where I need it.

Well, cell phones have reached that plateau where you can't really add anything anymore. Add too much, people cry about bloat and gimmick. Add too little, and you get this... The heck are you guys doing that you need an octocore?

Speaking of everyday average users..90% won't even notice the camera is improved over the s4, so that argument doesn't work IMO.
I won't even comment on the "higher and lower brightness" because that is just lolol. Sounds like iPhone users trying to sell things android has had for years.
I'm sorry, but people are grasping when defending this phone. What I can't figure is how websites like android central praise samsung for making Touchwiz closer to vanilla android and less gaudy....but How?? They put a freaking camera shortcut on the lock screen and gave us a white battery icon, otherwise the rom grew by about a GB over the s4 and is more bloated than ever. They are following the apple footprint by locking the phone down and offering extremely minor upgrades, but I don't blame them because they still make millions by working less because people still buy this stuff like it's the best thing ever.
Note 3. That's innovation. This phone does everything. Maybe the Note 4 will arrive with features worthy of an upgrade. The normal people can have the s5 because commercials told them it was cool.

Plus not to mention that the galaxy s5 rom will take 8gb of internal space. Bloatware much. So in essence buy the 16gb version to save money. Only have 8 gb of free storage space.

Are you really suggesting that users won't notice they take less crappy photos? That their phone is better in direct sunlight?
How exactly is Note 3 innovation? What new features did it bring that it's predecessor did not have besides the usual performance bump?
what intrigues me is the fact the s5 uses wifi and data at the same time when using the web be great to see how that works and if it really makes a difference should imagine its pretty fast?

ahh yes that is true
but a friend of mine told me
"if you keep waiting for something better, you will end up waiting forever"
at the end of the day people will keep praising samsung and choose to buy it after finding out that the new HTC One will have only 2600mah battery and non removable and oppo find 7's 2k screen is washed out and you can't tell difference with 1080p screen anyway. not to mention lg g3 will have a very powerful processor like the snapdragon 805 but still laggy. i predict in the end samsung still wins although i hope i'm wrong. cheers
What do you guys think? Would you be sticking with your s5 or will be buying the one+ one

The OnePlus One looks great, but I don't think I'll switch out my S5.
I have a friend that will probably pick it up so I can check it out then.
No, even if the Oneplus One seems to be fast, I prefer my S5 with its new touchwizz. And no Sd card extension on the One.
The Oneplus One really looks amazing and quite a threat to the flagships at that price. And apparently the camera is really good. I however don't like what i've seen so for from the software on it.
Considering there will be no service center anywhere for a newly opened company, no guarantees that the company will even survive beyond 2014, dodgy ordering system I am least interested. Actually that company looks likes a scam to me in most ways they talk and the 'invite' method looks very suspicious.
And the fact that they are using CM is a huge negative for me. I never liked CM, and always thought it as a useless bragging rights for nerds who would use inferior products just to make themselves look cool.
really? no small companies, no big companies?

I'm pretty much disillusioned with the idea of "service" for my phone. If it breaks in time they may replace it, but the replacement through insurance got me the runner-up last time anyway. (HTC Sensation rather than another Galaxy S)
Funny, I see CM as a big improvement in many places, and even though I haven't been running *pure* CM, most of the ROMs I have used have been based off of CM. While I appreciate the availability of forked custom ROMs, I really like that the core things are being addressed by a bigger dev team (in addition to google changes merged back in)
Of course, my Galaxy S was almost immediately abandoned by T-Mobile and Samsung, and the only way I got farther than 2.1-update1 was through the community ROMs.

Specs aren't anything. S4 and M7 have similar specs and I think the s4 is MUCH better of a device. The N5 has slightly less specs than the s5 and m8 and neither of those devices feel like an upgrade at all (except speaker and camera quality - I'd take N5 camera over M7 and M8 any day).
Specs aren't everything. I've seen the android authority video on the one+ 1 and it lags like every other cm11 os. Very unimpressed and if I had a S5 I wouldn't even think about getting the one+... Even with the s5's cartoonish display and useless gimmicks... I have the n5 and wouldn't consider it.

I haven't seen any service centers for this new company. have you seen one?? will they survive for few years? I don't know, I have my doubts.
Their ordering scheme of invite and smashing sounds ridiculous to me. If you like such things, that's upto you. I don't like it.
As for CM, I find them highly overrated.
No way, but kuddos to them for doing that at that price point. For me though, don't need a phablet, my neighbor has a Note 3 and it's too big imo for my daily driver, very noticeable over my S5. Plus all the benefits of the S5 make it worth it, water proof etc

It's always a good idea to buy a Note 4, provided that you absolutely need the Spen. If you don't, then maybe you should look for something else.
But if you intend to use the Spen extensively, then Note 4 looks even better than the Note 5. For a relatively affordable price, you get replaceable battery, memory slot and you can install a Note 5 rom, making it absolutely the same in the software sector. The Note 5 has a much more capable hardware on paper, but probably you won't notice that in everyday use and in most situtations.
The deciding factor is the Spen. Do you need it? If yes, get it. If you don't, look for something else.

I am little confused with note4 and moto x style...I was using note 2 and not 3 before then I shifted to one plus 2.
I thougt without sd card I will be able to manage but I guess its quite difficult thats why I want to buy a phone with sd card. Moto x style is good one with lowr price also but its not having OIS and camera is not so good in low light conditions.
How is note 4 camera. Do you guys recommend to buy note 4?
Note 4 is the best phone I have ever owned it's still competing with today's flagship especially with root and unlocked bootloader the battery is amazing camera is high quality and I have never ran out of space with a 128gb SD card and 32gb on board memory I would suggest if you get the note 4 get the snapdragon variant. But like other have said if you don't use the spen you can get a on paper better phone with the same price range, but that note 4 amoled screen is very hard to compare to.

Post no. #4 is the kind of post why i get angry for the sheer stupidity!
Note 4 at 30k is still the best phone out there, end of story. One Plus 2 nice, but only the camera is better. I myself was confused between X Style and Note 4, ended up with the latter, glad I did. Motorola would win in terms of software only, that's it. For Note 4 you only compromise with the software, TW (it's not that bad anyway), and get quite a lot of other this which other phones can't even dream about providing.
Go for it.

You won't find a more full featured phone in that price range that will compare with a note 4, and the spen is just a topping on the cake that makes it that much more useful. There are a bunch of amazing Roms that ported the note 5 features and cleaned up touchwiz to the point where it actually is a great Ui the only phone I would think of getting instead of a note 4 is the new nexus.

You have mentioned nothing about the Spen. You also had Note 2 and 3, but it was easy for you to shift to OPT.
I think it's obvious that you do not have a great need for the most stand out feature of the Notes. In that case, you should probably go for another phone, there are so many good phones out there these days.

So in comparison to that there are many devices. Htc one me camera just go and look at the camera of that device. Hence my point of view. If you didnt like it then talk respectfully.

Hahaha yupp iPhone sucks i say it too but as i said to the other guy i gave him the choices on price range. And yes YU is an Indian company but I saw people around me using it and it is good enough i mean given the liberty to do anything with the device, few tweaks would make it a good one. And the model was different its going to launch in this week with flagship specs. So he can keep it to compare the models you know.

Don't go for note 4. I've been using for 1 and a half year and I regret it. I don't want to change to note 5 and wait for another year for note 6 or note 7 edge (whatever they want to call it).
P's. It's a Korean company and not an us, europe or whatever your country coming from.
To OP, just go to the shop and try both. Better to try yourself then asking other people.
I just picked up a used N901F for a ludicrously cheap price and I'm going to give it a week or so to see how it compares to my N9005 with daily use before I decide if I keep it or not. The biggest issue will be battery life as the Note 3 rocked in that department! I travel a lot so I need battery life and stability so I'm a little hesitant to go down the custom ROM route (didn't have too many issues with my HTC HD2 in that respect) so I've rooted it stuck TWRP and xposed on, installed most of my old apps and gsam battery monitor to keep an eye on what's going on with the battery.
This is my first time using MM - any apps/features you guys recommend either specifically on the Note 4 or even MM in general?
You can go for Note 4, eyes closed, great phone.
Seriously, that's a very funny post, Yu and other phones compared with Samsung, and that too a Galaxy Note phone. I live in India too, and I too do see ghatiya (rubbish) phones being used nowadays, LeEco, Lyf, Xioami etc., those could never be compared with a Samsung or brands like that at first place! Also just by seeing a phone, that too used by other people, you can't conclude a decision, let alone recommending it to someone!!! Weird!
Note4life only note 6 next!!!

I'd honestly say that the Note 4 is a excellent device even by today's standards. I've seen some retailers sell it at a much lower price than when I purchased mine last year.
so hard to find info on this. i may be in the market for a new phone but still haven't upgraded because i don't want a smaller screen. anyone have a recommendation for a phone for at least a 6" screen or should i just stay with my nexus?
You should take a look at the Mi mix from Xiaomi .

Only thing what sucks is the price .

The Mi Note 2 is just a tad smaller at 5.7" but with killer specs. I ordered two new devices last week to check out as a future replacement for my Nexus 6. I got both the Le Eco Le Pro3 which comes in at 5.5" and the Le Max 2 is 5.7" respectively and on their way. I love the size of my Nexus 6. It fits my catchers mit hands perfectly. On a side note about the size difference between the Mi Mix and the Nexus 6, the Mi Mix is almost identical in overal size.

It should, It works with T-Mobile 4g LTE..
I think they are both 5.7", but I'm considering the Axon 7 and the LG V20.
I'm not a huge fan of LG, but the newer devices look decent. They also have removable battery, and SD support. Sadly, single down-firing speaker. On the up side, the TMobile version has an unlockable bootloader, which is absolutely required in any device I would buy. ZeroLemon has announced an extended battery, which I loved on my Note 3. It sounds like there are some decent tempered glass screen protectors as well. TMobile sells the device, so things like wifi calling are built in, which is nice for a lot of people, even though I don't use it much. It's also already on Android 7, which is nice. I do think it's overpriced, but they are selling out with the Note 7 fiasco, so perhaps not so much.
Axon 7 has dual forward facing speakers, which is really nice on the Nexus 6. It doesn't have a removable battery though does have SD. Screen protectors are harder to come by as well. Bootloader can be unlocked, and ZTE is even providing development support for a CM build. Once that works, the ROM development really accelerates. No wifi calling, they keep saying "soon". So if you need that, be aware. The US version seems to be getting somewhat frequent ROM updates for security etc, but oddly they don't seem to be updating the EU model as much. Android 7 is also "soon", so something to be aware of. I haven't upgraded my Nexus 6 yet, so it's not a huge issue for me.
As I would want it for development reasons, kernel source is required which leaves out Mediatek CPUs etc.. I also like that the stock ROMs are reported to be reasonably decent. I'm not a big fan of the changes made for the sake of changes that you get with the Chinese-market devices. They just have different preferences in software than I do, apparently. The LG and ZTE stock ROMs aren't too annoying.
I know some people in China I am going to try to get them to send me a Mi Mix. They are selling the 6gb version for around $500 US in China and I very highly doubt you'll be able to pick one up in the US for that price
My phone's battery is running out from 100 to 0 in 10 minutes or so and I need to be next to a charger 100% of the time...
I really need a new phone and thought about the OnePlus 3t and HTC 10... (Both are about the same price in Israel)
I need a phone with an awesome battery life and camera, good display, performance and build quality... Do you have any suggestions? And if not any of these phones, which phone do you recommend?
Any one?
Well, my opinion is very biased, since I chose the OP3T. But I was a loyal HTC fan, and this is my first smartphone that isn't an HTC (after owning 5 different HTC phones).
The main discriminators for me were price (OP3T is $439 US versus $599 for the HTC10) and the fact that the 10 felt like "last generation" to me. It's true that the OP3T is really only a half a year/generation newer. But the 10 really did feel like last years model to me, with the U and U Ultra coming soon.
My last phone is the HTC M9, going on 3 years old now. So for me, the OP3T is a big upgrade. It's blazing fast, takes really nice photos, and the AMOLED screen is beautiful. Now the downsides are the screen resolution (probably only an issue if you want to do VR), lowlight photos (although I've been doing fine, and I take a lot of pics of my kids) and no SD card slot (for now, the 64 GB version is fine - or you can go for the 128 GB version).
The battery life on the OP3T has also been impressive. Plus, with the included Dash charger, it charges really fast.
The 10 is a nice phone as well. I think all you really gain (versus the OP3T) is more audio/music centric features, and an SD slot. Although the OP3T speakers still sound pretty good, even with a single bottom firing speaker.

And if both of them were the same price (the 32 GB costs like the 3t 64...).. which one would you buy? (Knowing that HTC in your country is way more known and repairable) I'm in a real big dilema
Honestly, get the HTC 10. It recently became available here in Germany for the same price as the 3T and if I'd haven't bought the 3T a month ago, I'd have chosen the HTC.

Better camera, more accessories, better support, easier to get repaired, just a reliable daily driver.
Also, just get one of them. Not much sense making a dilemma out of these first world problems.

I bought the 3t 128GB and I feel stupid... I can sell it for like 100$ more than I can buy HTC 10 32GB

Honestly, learn to make up your own mind. You feel stupid because you could save $100 on the HTC 10, so get it.

But I don't know if the OnePlus 3T worth the 100$ or not... It's quadraple the capacity...

I never understood why people keep asking what phone should they buy. Most people just buy their phones only to be seen by other people what a great phone they have. Personally, I buy the phone that I like the looks of it and which fits my needs. And that`s how I got my OP 3T. Before buying it, I`ve seen some reviews which 90% were pretty good for me. The things I wanted most were amazing performance, battery that gets me through 1 day, fast charging, a stock android with a lot customize options. OP 3T has all of them. Have to mention that I had the chance to buy S7 Edge and HTC 10 at around 400 euros. But again, 3T had all the things I need, so I went for it.
Its sad to buy things just to have the best one from the market. Its not like you buy a Buggati Veiron, just to have the fastest car in your city. Same goes for the phones. Just buy whatever you like most and whatever fits your daily needs. If you want performance, go for OP3T, S7,S7 edge, htc 10, Moto Z and so on. If you want photography, go for Moto Z and buy yourself the camera mods, and so on. its very simple

I really not looking for best in market...
I just think that the 10 is better for me and I don't know if I'm right
I need a very (very) good camera
A very good battery
A good performance
A decent screen (at least 400 PPI)
And decent build quality
What phone do you think will be the best for me?
(It will be nice to have OLED display, usb-c, 4+- ram, and SD slot if less than 64 GB)
depends what you want I've gone from a Mi5 128GB to a OP3T and not sure if I regret it or not, the size is a pain for me, yes it's great for media, but daily use on the move the smaller size of the Mi5 was awesome.
Both great phones, but for different reasons.

Well, they aren't the same price for me. And I'm not a big fan of making that judgment, based on a hypothetical situation that doesn't exist for me.
They are both very solid phones, and there is no reason to feel "stupid" in any case. Everyone has different preferences and opinions on what constitutes the "best" for them. So at the end of the day, the only "right" or "wrong" decision lies with you, not what others think.

I had some reservations about moving to a larger screen/phone myself. But honestly, now that I have the OP3T, I'm really liking having a bit larger screen. Not just for video, but for web browsing, and other things. As long as it fits in my pocket, who cares if its a bit bigger? I seriously think I've have trouble going back to a smaller screen at this point.
