On my S7 Edge, S8, and S8+, I've been able to selectively disable Battery Optimizations from apps like Nine (Email), Facebook Messenger, and other apps to ensure they don't go into deep sleep mode (Doze) to ensure timely receipt of emails or Facebook Messenger Messages.
On my Note 8, the menu is unchanged from the other devices, but I noticed the functionality is no longer working. The difference being Android OS 7.1.1 vs. 7.0 on the other devices.
In FB Messenger, the tell is when you open the app after a few minutes, if you see the orange bar that says "connecting to network", you know the app disconnected in deep sleep (Doze). With Battery Optimization disabled for this app, this disconnect should no longer occur, but it is.
In Nine, the tell is when your phone randomly pushes a bunch of emails to you, sometimes 20-30 minutes delayed when on the earlier Samsung models, the emails come in right away. This is not an app-related configuration issue, but Doze issue.
Perhaps a glitch? Has anyone else tested on their Note 8 and experienced the same?
I wouldn't even know how or where to report a bug like this to Samsung.
No one ever replied. Has anyone experienced the above? Perhaps resolved now? I ended up going back to my S8+ because of this problem.
Had same problem with random disconnections even with Battery Optimizations and Battery Monitor disabled for Messenger, Im using an old version now (91.0.0.19.70) with the old interface and no problems since... I found latest versions of messenger very buggy at least for me.
About Nine, don't know as I use Outlook and never had a problem with it since I have this phone.

On my S8+, I use the latest versions of FBM (beta stream). No issues with regards to connectivity itself (the app is buggy sometimes as its beta though). It was only on the Note 8 where even disabling the battery optimizations for Messenger (and other apps) still forced them to disconnect.
I have the same issue. My phone is Factory unlocked and from Malaysia, used with an American Sim card inside.
So I recently bought the Asian version
SM-N9500
Android 7.1.1
I also experience the issue. Took EVERYTHING off app optimize battery usage. Even took it off monitor list and added to white list. Delay is still there.
I've just downloaded an app off the play store called PNF No-Root which basically pushes every 5min (you can set different interval up to 1min) that syncs everything. So far i've gotten whatsapp msg 2m-3mins late but so far I can't figure out what else to do to fix this.
This is driving me insane when my entire business is built online and I need to respond ASAP.
Was this ever resolved? I'm worried the issues will carry through on the S9

I'm aware of these steps. The issue was on the Note 8, these steps were ineffective as opposed to the S7 / S8 series of devices where it worked just fine. I was wondering if this was ever resolved on the Note 8.

For resolved you mean that if it works in note 8? Well, it works fine with my 950F exynos 128 GB, in fact, vital systems app are not easily dozed, the likes such as chrome, keyboard, playstore, gallery, sms, gmail, etc

Ok it would be tough to test with you then. With Messenger, if Doze is enabled, the app will keep losing its connection and every time you open it, it would say connecting to network. With Doze disabled for Messenger, this problem goes away, except on the Note 8.
I was able to test a Canadian S9+ on Oreo, the issue does not seem to affect it. I am optimistic that the Oreo update for Note8 will address this.
Yes, it's not just the Note 8, I think and I strongly believe that the problem is related to the crappy nougat version 7.1.1., I had the very same problem (email not syncing, and delaying (lollipop and marshmallow don't have it!) even on pixel, opo 3t, and s8, all of them had Android 7.1.1., the problem was almost fixed on 7.1.2.
Now, had the pixel 2 xl, with Oreo, for a while, switch back to Note8, and the problem came along.
This is the main important reasons to make me update to Oreo on note 8

I almost figured it had to do with 7.1.1.

Is this memory leak issue only affecting European customers or is this an update/fix that we all are going to be getting in the near future? I haven't had any issues with the phone and Verizon tech support is clueless about this issue and also they say they do not have this issue listed under any phone bugs to notify customers about during a customer support call.
While not extreme, there's definitely a memory leak with this device, and more specifically with this version of Touchwiz. If I go more than a day without restarting my phone or agressivly closing apps I definitely get hangups and long loading times.
I sometimes have to restart my phone 3-4 times a day. I notice long load times on apps that are using data (Maps, Play Music, Chrome, Gmail, Facebook......). I have done speed tests thinking it may be a network issue, both on Wifi and 4G. There have been times where the test wouldn't even finish because the network was so slow. When I got the S6 Edge, I gave my old S5 to my son, his connection to Wifi is 2-3 times faster than mine is.
Edit: I'm using Nova Launcher, not TouchWiz.

You might not be using the TW launcher, but your android version is still a Touchwiz version. Although now that I've read more, I'm thinking this memory leak issue is related to lollipop and not just TW.
I've heard this a bug with Oreo, but I've had this issue since Nougat. Essentially, I've tried connecting several Bluetooth devices to my OnePlus 3T with OOS 5.0.3 rooted w/ Magisk, and while I can get music and notifications to play, I can neither hear nor speak through the phone options using Bluetooth. I've searched for hours on Google as to why this may be happened, and while there are hundreds of reports and instances of this happening, there isn't a single consistent solution.
I've tried messing with the settings, codecs, deleting cache, deleting data from Bluetooth, repairing devices, deactivating Google Now, resetting the phone, you name it.
Is this a problem that is still prevalent with Oreo? This is probably the stupidest unsolvable thing I've ever encountered, and I'm convinced its software related, given that music and all other audio works.
Never had such issue with Nougat or Oreo.
Where did you read about such standard bug at Oreo?

Of those links, only the last one is relevant to the 3T.
What specific Bluetooth devices do you have the problem with?
I've use the phone feature with 3 different headsets, my car head unit, and a BT speaker, all with no issues with calls.
I have a problem with every Bluetooth device that uses phone features. This includes a Gear S3, Car Dongle and ear phones.
I have tried 2 BT SPEAKERS, 2 BT headset,.1 smart band and 1 smartwatch (moto 360).
No issues at all

I must have some kind of app causing the problem. I'm just not even sure which app it could possibly be.

Any Magisk modules being used? I haven't seen this Bluetooth issue specifically (from Magisk modules) but they can sometimes cause random bugs, and it is a good enough place to start as any.
I think the Samsung gear watches in general, do not play well with a lot of non-Sammy phones. At least from other threads I've seen around. But it is suspicious that you are having the issue on multiple Bluetooth devices (although you don't name the other brands). So I think you are on the right track, that it may be an app or something else peculiar to your device setup.
I've had the phone functions work just fine with Motorola, Plantronics, JBL headsets, JBL speaker, Subaru head unit (Kenwood made stereo, from what I understand).

I have the exact same issue. I've tried nougat/oreo.....official OOS....different roms also. Clean flashed the 3T but no luck.
Media audio works perfectly fine. As soon as somebody calls and I answer, the line becomes mute to whatever it is connected to. I've tried both with my car and BT speaker.
I then have to route the call to the ear pierce on the phone to be able to continue with the call.
Everyone I have found with this issue have sent their phones back for repairs.
OnePlus 3Ts seem to face an issue where if you're in a voice call using your SIM card, and also connected to some Bluetooth device at the same time, the WiFi seems to just s**t itself. It can't give more than 0.10 Mbps ever. It left me confused for a long time until I figured it was due to me calling on my Bluetooth headset/speaker. Truly annoying imo.
I finally figured it out. As I stated earlier, I was sure it was software based because music worked just fine, so I was looking for a culprit app that might have been hogging the phone audio/mic. Oddly enough, it was the T-Mobile Visual Voicemail app. I went ahead an uninstalled it. That app was not worth being unable to use Bluetooth hands-free in my car.
I take that back. Suddenly, it's not working anymore, so I'm more inclined to believe there's something wrong with the phone speaker/mic suddenly hanging with apps other than the actual phone app. The Visual Voicemail app only exposed that there was an issue with this, but the app itself did not seem to be the problem.

Hi all,
I got a brand new Huawei P20 Pro this week and it keeps falling off my Wi-Fi network, I can't precisely replicate it but it is enough to make me think the phone has a fault.
Has anyone else ever experienced similar? or should I just go straight back to the retailer? :crying:
My P20 Pro kept disconnecting shortly after connecting to WIFI and you could actually see the signal drop to 0 and then back up. The trouble is, when it did go back up it took a few seconds for the access to come back. and I fixed it by dropping my WIFI security down from WPA2-PSK to WPA-PSK.
Oh and I also had the same issue with my Samsung Galaxy S7 edge on Oreo that was sorted out by a Samsung update 6 Months later.
Btw it's not a Virgin Superhub that you are using?

Yup... it is because of their stupidly aggressive battery management. I need to disable/enable wifi at least 50% of the time when I unlock it.
There is no fix. Android 9 beta is no different.
I would recommend to you what I would tell anyone... If you are still in the return period, exchange the phone for something else. They will never sort this issues with this phone. There are just too many, especially considering their crazy slow update history.
I had a similar issue on my P20 Pro and after resetting network configuration the problem is gone, at least temporarily.

How long have you been good since the network config refresh? It's been 26 hours since mine and so far so good.............
I did read on some thread somewhere that it is a fault of Android's "restore" of wifi SSIDs and passwords, if it is that, that would explain why the network config refresh has (at least some sort of) an impact.
Mine has been working fine ever since

Today auto installed 36.9.7
Vivo quicly patched bugs of 36.9.6 which was having a major Call notification issues.
Let me know your opinions.
no update available till now.
India. FunTouch OS 12
In INDIA, Bengaluru, it was updated around 11.30 in the monring.
no updates yet
I got the update today.
It seems to have reinstalled Jovi Voice which I had removed before using ADB.
Other than that it seems to be working as normal.
I have imported India version with FunTouch OS 12. Got the latest update too.
The phone seems to be working very well.
The only issue I have since I got the phone is when adding card to google pay contactless payament cannot be activated. I do not have loacation resrictions using gpay and with my other phones gpay contacltless payment can be activated successfully. My vivo is not rooted and runs factory rom.
Do yoy people from India have the same issue with gpay contactless payment?
thanks

Nice to here. Vivo is taking actions hard and fast, But still we should not get these bugs in Flagship modules.
Bringing out the scam companies like Samsung, Vivo are doing. Am using Vivo X70 pro plus. Recently I updated my software OTA push to 36.9.7 (from 36.8.) but took a camera sample before update. Immediately after update took another sample i matter of 15 min gap. There was hell lot of downgrade. Plus other bugs impacting day to day usage. Wanted your help to voice this out. Below are the identified issues beimg faced.
1. Camera quality is greatly downgraded
2. Background apps getting auto closed like Nova Launcher, SD Maid, Accu battery, etc. Thus accessibility service also not working linked to these apps as tgey are automatically getting off. This was not there before the update.
3. Amazon app is getting auto closed at payment selection page every time thus amazon app now not useful.
Attaching unaltered image sample before & after update.
3.3 mb is the one before update
3.5 mb one is post update (see tubelight & flower design on the matress, etc)
Can someone guide me on how to voice tjis to Vivo. This is malpractice as I suspect deliberate downgrade of camera & other bugs.
I dont see a downgrade or a difference at all here.

Hi all! I was wondering if any of you guys have seen this issue before. I have an old Galaxy S10 that I wanted to resurrect for emulation and forgot the reason why I stopped using it was because the Bluetooth functionality, once toggled on, would look like it's trying to turn itself on but never enables.
I've tried:
Installing all updates
Resetting network settings
Clearing Bluetooth app cache / pairings
Wiping the system cache partition
Factory resetting
Re-flashing current and past firmwares
I was able to get Bluetooth to enable and function normally by random after re-flashing the firmware but would quit after 5-10 minutes.
On the S10 and my current phone Pixel 4a (with functional Bluetooth) I went into Developer options to check currently running services to compare. On the 4a the Bluetooth process is listed as having 1 process and 7 services, whereas on the S10 there were only 2 services and were missing services such as SapService, HidDeviceService, BluetoothPbapService, GattService. (I can post in an edit which services are failing to run on the S10 if need be). The Bluetooth process on the S10 will only show up once Bluetooth is toggled even though it doesn't enable, but will stop running, then start running again, rinse and repeat.
So that being said, is this a hardware issue that I'm SOL with? Are there any other remedies that I could try?
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
First off, which S10 do you have... Exynos/Snapdragon makes a big difference, but knowing the model number helps a lot in general as well.
What firmware are you on now?
On my 973U (ie, Snapdragon) I have 1 process and 7 services right now (with BT turned on)... on Oreo with January security (I have stayed off A12 because of many reports of issues on it). I can provide more detail later if needed, as well.

I have an SM-G973U (CCT) running G973USQU6GUJ3, which I believe is the last version of Android 11. I've tried Android 10 and 9 firmwares (can't recall which ones) and I've been having the same issue regardless, which makes me think it could be hardware-based.
In a couple of hours I can edit this post with the two processes that do run, if need be.
Made a mistake - my phone is 975U but that shouldn't matter.
I'm on G975U1UES6GUL1 which I believe is a later version than what you have... but I don't think that will fix anything for your issue. I was on GUL before, and everything worked fine then.
I'd say start off bone-stock after an ODIN and see if it works there (ie, don't download anything, if you can avoid it). Maybe some app you have is killing the BT? But if it doesn't work there, then yes it could just be a hardware thing... disappointing for sure.
