Cool - but not feeling it's worth $299.

Going to give it a week - this doesn't feel like something worth 300 bucks when compared to the note 4 I got for free!! (99 dollar bill credit + 189 for the 10 dollar recycled phone)....
Things don't seem to be happening much on the EDGE part of the phone I know I'm overly picky
Anyone else with me?

I have both the Note 4 and just received the S6 Edge this morning. The Note 4 is being sold. No regrets. After using the Edge since this morning the Note 4 feels very cheap. Also the Note 4 (Verizon) feels so sluggish and laggy versus the zippy S6.

Please report if the cellular standby battery drain issue is present in the verizon edge. Also does the phone properly deep sleep?

Totally agree with the zippy part of this post. I just can't seem to deal with the smaller screen I guess.

I had the Note 4, Note Edge and now o have the S6 Edge. They are all great phones but the S6 Edge feels so much superior in every way. Speed, overall quality of the phone and the camera is just killer. When you compare the displays of all these phones the S6 Edge display it's just om another level.

After playing with it since charging it this afternoon, cell standby is my biggest battery user at 15% :/

You probably need to close all the useless apps and disable them before getting a better indication of battery. Unless you have already done so, and I'm just tripping. It's really a shame that Samsung shoved more bloatware into the device than stuffing into a Thanksgiving turkey.

having a Note 3 with a Note 4 based ROM on it i was sure about the Edge for about the first 24 hours then it just hit me that there is no way i will go back and that "maybe" my big screen philosophy was wrong.
i was not a pen user so that didnt really matter to me. i did have concerns about storage but not battery as i have external packs i rarely ever need.
i also have not used a case for years but i did order THIS Spigen case and thats when it all came together. that case was exactly the security in holding it and ease of picking it up that i was looking for and now i am VERY satisfied with it.
yesterday i needed to fire up my Note 3 (same size as 4) and it felt huge. i knew i could go back and get used to it but now i like the smaller form factor better again.
there are some issue like cell standby that i hope get addressed but the fact that many of the main reasons i root like rows and columns and themes have been addressed i am as happy with this purchase as about any phone before it.

I don't have my Galaxy S6 Edge yet, but I do have a Note Edge right now. I went from the Note 2, to the Note 3, to the Note Edge to be exact so I have had the larger screen, S-Pen, and huge battery for a long time now. In that time, I have really grown to enjoy these phones. When I agreed to upgrade to the Galaxy S6 Edge, I was hesitant at first. I have a friend who works for Verizon business who let me play with his phone for about 40 minutes and I was hooked. This thing was simply awesome. You are right, the S6 Edge doesn't have an S-Pen, the screen is smaller, and the battery life isn't as good. On the plus side, you have superior construction, a faster processor, better camera, wireless charging, and so on.
I am not saying that the S6 Edge is better in every way. What I am saying is that there are pluses and minuses and you have to decide which way you want to go. There is no right or wrong answer here. The only opinion that matters is what you think and if you want to go with a Note 4, then go for it. I can tell you right now that I believe I am going to miss some of the Note features such as the bigger battery and screen when I get my S6 Edge. At the same time though, after having large phablets for the last few years, I am eager to try something new and smaller.

There's a lot of new going on under the hood for both models. UFS 2 is huge. HUGE! I don't know why this isn't getting more hype, especially since so many are grumbling about the lack of a micro SD card slot. What an easy way to get people to shut up about it... explain the science of UFS 2, and have a video demonstration on how it improves everything day to day. DDR4 is also awesome, but will likely be on every model next year. I really think/see the edge as just better. I really like how video looks on it (floating effect) and how text scrolls up and down when in horizontal orientation. Swiping also feels great. It's just physically better. I could care less about that physicality bringing new useless features.
The S6 Edge to me, is nearly perfect for our current world. We are plateauing a bit in terms of cell phone functionality... now it's time to introduce new design elements, and Samsung nailed it.

Im of a similar mind I think ill return my edge and get the regular s6 Id take the storage over the screen which aesthetically pleasing it really has no value to "me"

I think I was leaning very heavy to do the regular s6 vs the s6 Edge, especially for the storage. But the one thing that made me go for the S6 Edge was that every other Samsung I have owned (which is a lot, Note 2/3/4 & S2/S3) have all looked like the S6 Edge. Sure the material is nicer, but it's a marginal upgrade from the Note 4.
I think the S6 Edge was so bold and it looks awesome. Will it provide functional use? No, probably not. But it doesn't hurt that I got $100 off from trading in a device and it ended up being the same price as the S6. Even without the trade in, I'm happy with the choice. It looks and feels nice in the hand, aside from being a spec monster, I'll pay a premium for looks.... within reason.

LG V30 or Note 8 ?

Long story short, my classic Nexus 6P has been dying for a few months, battery drains, random reboots, super low volume on speakers. I have wiped the phone tried different ROM's and back to stock, still same thing. Don't get me started on the Pixel 2 XL for almost $1,000. It's really a Nexus 8P that should be selling for $599, but since it's a "Pixel" they wanna charge us more now. No thank you.

I picked up the LG V30 last week, and it is a great phone, but no root ( I knew that going in ) And zero good themes ( no offense ) On my Nexus 6P I ran the Swift Dark theme for years, and got so used to it and fell in love with it, it's hard going on the V30 without that theme, and the themes available are basic and don't do Google apps, or notifications, etc... I know Samsung has a way deeper theming system, and just tons of themes available. And most important Substratum is active for the S8 / Note 8, which is a BIG DEAL.
Is the SD835 Note8 as smooth and lag free as the V30 ? I hear that Lagwiz is still evident on the 2017 Galaxy phones ? Would a Note 8 be better than the V30 ? I want the same great battery life as the V30, and I need deep dark themes system wide applied to everything.
How about package disablers ? I did that with my V30 and it made a huge difference in battery life, and stopping bloatware and unwanted apps from running in the background.

The Note 8 is not lag free, there are stutters from time to time. The only stutter free Android phones I've seen are the Pixels.
It's not too bad though.
You can disable blotware with BK disabler, I think that works well.
There is a special Samsung version of Swift Black!

I would imagine the v30 and note 8 are the same when it comes to lag, it barely happens for me so it's not an issue or factor. Touchwiz has a bad rep but it hasn't been heavy since the S7 days, but I'm Samsung takes the Cake second to only the pixel which I'm sure you know has a crap screen just like the v30.

I have not noticed lags, scrolling is smooth, only complaint is that autorotation is a little bit slow, but nothing real annoying, the camera is superfast! From pocket to shoot in 3 seconds! Iove my note 8

Way better experience on note 8 vs s8 family. Totally lag free for me, best Android phone I've ever used hands down.

You may not be happy about how well... or not... swift dark or any substratum theme works on the Note 8.

It's not even a fair comparison between the V 30 in the Note 8 the Note 8 is a far superior device. Now you could probably compare the v30 to the S8 Plus.

It's a laugh and anyone telling you otherwise might be coming from laggy-er phone.
Coming from mate 9 and forgot what lag was and got use to amazing battery life.
But wouldn't trade this phone in for the pixel, v30, mate 10(maybe), oneplus, essential, etc.
I believe the best overall phone out so far. It has everything plus all the bells and whistles. Things I thought I never needed I use. And I actually love Bixby. Don't understand the hate.

So i have used both extensively and I can say the note 8 wins hands down. The ONLY place that the v30 beats out the note is in cell signal quality. The note 8 doesn't work as well at cell edge as the v30. Other than that the v30 is inferior in every way.
The extra 2gb of ram makes a gigantic difference. Maybe not in an individual apps speed, but as you jump from app to app, having to not wait for apps to reload because there wasn't enough room to keep them in memory makes the note seem much faster.
As for the cameras, the front camera on the v30 is atrocious. No matter how you slice it. The rear cameras on the note v30 can be good if you want to **** around with manual settings every time you take a picture. On auto mode, they're really not good. I also don't like the wide angle as much as the zoom lens on the note (I get that this is a personal preference). Also the v30 OIS is really not good, and only on the main lens not both like the note.
The screen on the note is substantially better than the v30 in colors, clarity and brightness.
Samsungs multitasking implementation is much better than LGs, especially if you like to use it to have a video at the top and another app at the bottom.
I guess one other way the v30 wins is in the fingerprint reader. I've never had a phone with as good of a finger print reader as the v30, but I use trusted devices with my gear s3 so I don't end up using the reader all that often anyway.
In closing, I bought both the note and the v30 at full retail so I went all in on both of them. The v30 has been sold and I typed this entire thing on my note. Get the note. Good luck!

Since I'm now waiting until September 5th or so for my phone, I want to live vicariously through you all who are slowly getting your phones!

What do you think of the phone? Anything surprise you? Note8 owners, any noticeable improvements/changes? Is it smooth and amazingly fast? How's the new fingerprint scanner location? What's the AnTuTu score in the 512/8?
Anything Note9 related is appreciated to whet my appetite until mine comes in! ?

I helped a friend set up their Unlocked 512 GB/ 8 GB RAM model today, I'm still waiting on mine. First impression, the blue is really great looking. In some lights it's midnight blue, and in others it looks silvery blue. The yellow S-Pen is a bit cheesy looking, but not a deal breaker. The phone feels sturdy, just like the Note 8. The slight height reduction combined with the slightly greater width make the phone feel more balanced than the Note 8. Speed wise, the Note 9 boots up very quickly compared the Note 8. There was no lag when navigating menus, and the phone only froze once for a few seconds in the 2 hours I used it, which could likely be attributed to the backup restore in progress. Samsung definitely has achieved "buttery smooth" performance and it feels a bit faster than the Note 8. The speakers are very loud and clear and in my opinion are the biggest improvement over the Note 8. It's too soon to tell battery performance. We had a Note 8 and S8+ next to the Note 9 to compare, and the Note 9 had 1-2 bars of better reception than the others. I'm not sure if this is due to calibration or the Note 9 just has stellar reception. Either way, I was impressed.
Final thoughts: After using a Note 8 for a year, my biggest gripes have been the terrible speaker, the awkward height to width ratio, the mediocre battery life at times, and the occasional app stability issues. From what I can see, the Note 9 fixes all of those issues and should be a great upgrade. I'd say if upgrading from the Note 8, getting the 8 GB RAM version would be the only one worth upgrading to considering the price and how great the Note 8 is already.

That is what I'm doing. Note8 to Note9 512. I am with you with those gripes of the otherwise fantastic Note8. Also, I'd add fingerprint scanner to that list of gripes. Glad they fixed that too!

I received my 128gb version on the 22nd and it's a nice incremental upgrade from the Note 8. Unfortunately we've gotten to the point where the wow factor isn't there anymore in phone designs.
The larger battery, S Pen remote and stereo speakers are nice but if I wasn't on T-mobile and wanted to take advantage of their low band spectrum and I didn't get a $500 credit for my old Note 5 I wouldn't have upgraded from the Note 8.

Coming from an unlocked Note 8 on AT&T to the Ocean Blue unlocked 512gb Note 9, I am very VERY happy! Some will say the cost is bad, i get 300 off for trading in the old S7E so for me it was 1000 out the door from Samsung directly. I am a note fan, and have notes since the Note 2.(S7E was due to the recall on the note 7 twice).so I am a bit biased towards the note to begin with. With that said , speakers , the storage the ram the color were major deciding factors. I can't believe how fast and smooth it has ran for 3 days now. Even set up day was awesome, downloading hundreds of apps and still able to use the phone with very little slow downs was awesome. I am also lucky not to have light bleed , crooked cameras or bad white balance . This fixes all the little , minute problems with the note 8 and then just kills with great performance. Just waiting for Samsung's 512gb microSD to complete the package.

Coming from the S9+ 9650 SD model, all I can says is FRAMES!
Had the Note 9 for 72hrs and it's dropping frames quite a lot. It's the Exynos model, 512gb UK edition. Love everything else about it, so will return and buy an SD version from Hong Kong.
Have to say, the S9+ I have is unbelievably fast and fluid, nothing like any other Sammy I've owned. So impressed, I honestly cannot think of one moment of lag or frame drop, so I'm hoping it's processor related and going SD for Note 9 will give me the same experience.

That's backed up by data too. Exynos processor really sucks in this phone, sadly. Way worse scores on benchmarks and looks like real life performance matches it.

I'm very impressed, came from a pixel 2 xl and off gate noticed a huge difference in quality, the pixel feels cheap and hollow the note is solid and has substance. No point in comparing the screens as that is well documented. Speakers are light years better on the note. I thought I missed stock Android after a stint of going through note 4 and 5 then S7 edge, and came back for the Note 9 and I must say stock Android is not really all the exciting and leaves alot to be desired. All in all this was well worth it.

I agree. The Pixel is amazingly smooth and takes phenomenal pictures. But it's just sort of... Boring. Especially by comparison. The Samsung features are actually very useful. I was a huge AOSP ROM guy back in the day because Samsung had such a crappy UI. It's gotten so much better, and the hardware is good enough to run it smoothly.

Really enjoying mine. Liking using the S-Pen more than I remember previously (last Note was the Note 5)
In it's first big test, the battery wasn't great, but I was using it a lot for photos and 4K video. Screen only came to just under 600 lumens which surprised me. Speakers sounds great, but I'd hoped for a little louder.

My screen was definitely brighter on my note 8.

Is the UK Exynos version that bad as I'm tempted to just cancel my order... First Samsung I'll be having just thought it looked good and the Samsung upgrade programme is good as means don't have to fork out all in 1 go.

Yeah, I've read of frame drops, lag, and the AnTuTu score is like 40000 less, which is pretty significant!

Hmm dunno wether to wait give it a go. Then if not happy send it back. Not even sure Samsung will let me do that. Or just cancel my order. As it's nearly been a week and no movement. But then to be honest not sure which other phone to look at and wanting dual SIM. Hmm..

I'm returning my Exynos 512gb. As I said in a previous post, my SD S9+ is by far the most smooth Sammy I've used. My primary reason for getting it was battery life. I purchased the Exynos UK version at launch and the battery was awful, so returned it. Then read the Anandtech feature and understood why, so took a punt on the SD version and couldn't be happier.
Call me cynical, i can't help but think that this new wonder cooling system is for the benefit of the Exynos models, allowing Samsung to get performance on par with the SD845, which in my experience it hasn't.

exynos version is just as fast as the snap 845. synthetic benchmarks like antutu tend to score the 845 higher as the graphics card on the 845 is better. Single and miulti core cpu tests average out the same and in some cases better on the ex.

Anyone come from oneplus 6?plesde share your views.

So need to replace my razer phone and not sure what to get. I like the fact that oneplus 6 is faster and already on pie but also like the spen. Can anyone who has either come from oneplus 6 or have both phones please comment especially on performance differences between the 2 please thanks.

If you want speed stay on op6... If you want other stuff.. get the note 9

Generally true. But if you reduce the animation speeds on N9 the percieved difference on normal tasks is much less.

Any particular reason you want to move away from the RazerPhone or, not upgrade to the RazerPhone2?

You could do the same on your OP6 which makes te difference the same again...

It's the feature packed OS and top quality hardware that do it for me. The speakers are awesome in contrast to the OP6's tinny speaker and the battery lasts all day everyday. Also the camera's are among the best the market has to offer, it takes stunning pictures.
But in terms of speed and stability it just can't compete with the OnePlus 6 running Oxygen OS. That thing is just insanely fast(especially unlocking it with fingerprint or face) and quite stable actually. When you're in an app there's no detectable difference, but any action that involves Oxygen OS just happens instantly. So if that's your thing and you don't care about (sometimes gimmicky) features too much, I'd stick with the OP6.
Also you should not expect the same 'power to the users' attitude from Samsung. They do listen to the community, but kind of do it on their own terms and only when they feel like it.

I have both, the note is international version, seriously day to day use I feel no real difference but differently the op6 is snappier. And oneplus is the newer phone in my hand, I just loved the red color and got it as a second phone BUT, U get what u pay for in this case, note 9 has a much better screen, longer battery life, huge difference in speakers and noeird software issues (for example I can't download pubg from the play store on my op6) plus of course the Samsung extras ip68 spen dex bla bla bla
If u need an advice go for the note, it's selling as the same price as op6t on eBay which is just crazy stupid since the OP suppose to be half the price

Hmm many thanks for your detailed reply. The note 9 you moved to is it the 6gb or 8gb variant?. I will be getting the 6gb variant and just like you I feel the extra features on Samsung do help overall,without even mentioning the ? spen. I think am definitely leaning towards a note 9 thanks.

I have both, the note is international version, seriously day to day use I feel no real difference but differently the op6 is snappier. And oneplus is the newer phone in my hand, I just loved the red color and got it as a second phone BUT, U get what u pay for in this case, note 9 has a much better screen, longer battery life, huge difference in speakers and noeird software issues (for example I can't download pubg from the play store on my op6) plus of course the Samsung extras ip68 spen dex bla bla bla
If u need an advice go for the note, it's selling as the same price as op6t on eBay which is just crazy stupid since the OP suppose to be half the price

I have both OP6(8,128) and Note 9(6,128).
For me, I use Note 9 to watch videos, becsuse it has a wonderful screen and powerful speakers.
I use OP6 to browse news, play games and communicate with others.IT IS SUPER FAST AND SMOOTH.
btw, I bring Note 9 to work. It is a nice tool,while OP6 is more likely a toy.

Get the Samsung note 9 it's almost as fast as the one us 6 or 6t lacked with more features

I moved from the 128/8GB OP6 to the 512/8GB Note 9. I do feel like the extra 2GB is a bit useless though. I rarely fill more than 6 GB's of RAM.

As said, note 9 is a great multifunctional tool, op6 it's a wonderful toy

I bought One plus 6 256 GB Storage 8 GB ram and using it 2 months then switch to Note 9 Exynos 6GB.
What I don't like
1. USB port sucks. only able to charge and transfer data. Can't connect with external devices.
2. If you root you get Widevine L3
3. Battery level sucks. almost not survive 1 day.
4. Only one speaker.
6. no wireless charge.
What I love.
1. It's extremely fast.
2. It's brick free. you can unbrick it by yourself.
3. Android Pie Stable ROM come very fast.
4. lack of bloatware.
5. Even you root your device. warranty won't void.
6. Dash charge is extremely fast.
7. OxygenOS is clean and stable.
The reason I change to Note 9 because mine was defect unit and I got a refund.
Mine was Widevine L3 no matter how I or Remote support guys were trying to fix it. It need to be sent to service center to fix it and it has none in Thailand.
If I can choose again I will choose one plus 6 and keep my extra money for something else.

Phew so based on you lovely guys views the note 9 has all the bells and whistles but it lacks the power and speed of the oneplus 6. That worries me though as speed does matter.

I have both the OP6T & Note 9.
The performance is comparable,any speed difference is negligible in daily use (unless you spend your days doing side-by-side comparisons,LOL).
If I had to choose,it's no contest,the Note 9 for the win.
If you value the S-Pen & Dex,the Note 9.
If not,save some $$$ & get the OnePlus,even going back to last year's OP5 or 5T.
I'm not picky on cameras,as long as the phone is quick to snap a relatively clear/sharp pic,it's all good to me.
If cameras are your thing,perhaps some Googling/YouTube search is in order for comparison.

Coming from someone who had the 6t and switched to the note 9 (paid $50 for restocking fee) I think the note 9 is a much better device. Hardware is better the battery is better, display is better and all those extra features are just the icing on the cake. Trust me.

The Note 9 does not lack speed. It's like the comparison between a BMW M5 and a Ferrari. The BMW does not lack speed at all, but the Ferrari remains quite a bit faster. The BMW however does do/have a ton of other practical things that a Ferrari can't.
And like I said, you'll only notice the difference in speed in UI actions and not when running apps. In terms of power the two devices are basically capable of doing the same thing because of their SOC's. However, you might want to go for a Note 9 if you're a gamer or use some heavy apps as it has liquid cooling. My OP6 did warm up quite a bit when running CAD apps or games like Asphalt 9, the Note 9 stays noticeably cooler.

Having owned both phones it's hard to say because both are really good phones and you can't go wrong with either or.

Very true, no other phone handles multitasking as well as Samsung flagships and especially the Note series! What I meant with capability of doing the same things was the performance of the SOC's.

Help me migrate from iPhone 6s Plus

Good day and a happy new year. I am considering a switch from apple again and this is my target device. The things i need your help deciding are the below, in order of priority (for me) :
-Thermals. I have been switching between iphones and androids for many years. And so far all androids i owned (most samsung devices) tend to heat up even with the most normal of uses. My last switch from s7 edge to Iphone 6s Plus was purely due to that. You could feel the device back heating just from surfing on wifi indoors. Please advise how the Note 9 performs in this task.
-Camera . It is widely said that Note 9 camera does not handle motion at all . For example , shooting a person that moves or an animal, will surely result in a blurry photo. Just how bad is the situation ?
-Background applications resource usage . In my last experience with android (s7e 7.1) just about any application could run any way it wanted and hog resources/battery without any consent whatsoever. I get the benefits of multitasking but if the trade off is me losing control of what is going on i need to take it in consideration. Please advise how the Note 9 performs in this task (current android version it runs atm).
-Storage speed . iPhones over 6+ are using nvme type flash storage wich is stupid fast. I cannot find any nand benchmarks for the note 9 exynos model. Any info on that? Also what type of nand does it use(very important for future proofing).
-Processor .I n my region the only note 9 available is the one with exynos (SM-N960F). how does it perform compared to the snapdragon variant ?
-GPS . As you may have heard, iPhone GPS accuracy and lock speeds are out of this world. Is note 9's performance in this area satisfactory? (again for the exynos model).
- Any one here switched from iphone to note 9 ? Maybe you could share something that you would consider useful to know beforehand ?
So sorry to hit you with that wall of text but for me €800+ for a phone is kind of a big deal (for my current financials). That is mostly why i had to rule out the XS Max in the first place (€1350+ where i live).

Camera wise the IQ from the N9 is quite a bit better, and in Pro mode i have no issues with movement. The screen on the N9 is in another league. Resource use wise, yes Samsung has a lot of junk but it's easy enough to delete (even system) junk even on an unrooted phone, and even the ones you keep you can control each app individually for resource use (mobile data, battery). Processing wise the iPhones have always been solid but the N9 is very slick to. I've had mine a month and no heating issues at all not even a little. Battery life wise i get 7odd hours off SoT and about 60 odd hours between charges. Best phone I've ever had, and the SPen functionality is amazing!
Exynos is at least as good as Snapdragon, probably a bit better actually if you read the forums. GPS is very good I've had no issues.
I had an iPhone 7 a few years back but it cannot compete at all with the N9 imho.

Software wise S9 and note 9 are the android phones from Samsung that will never slow down at all. Then leaves the software experience that android and apple offers that should be where you make your decision...

Why is it that they will not slow down at all ?
In my experience all androids start to slow down after the 6-8 months mark.

I had my S8+ for over a year and never saw any decrease in performance, i cleared dalvik cache every once in a while and never saw any performance drop.

I currently am using both the Note 9 snapdragon version and the iPhone xs max and BOTH phones are very fast. Without hitting every point I'll try to answer the overall questions you have. For me the one thing I like better about the iphone is the physical size of the phone. I like that it's a touch thicker and wider, just feels a bit better balanced in my hand but that's it. I have not had any issues with my Note getting warm, even a little bit. I use Package Disabler from the play store and freeze the apps, even processes which I don't want taking up resources on my phone. I think I paid a couple of bucks for the app but it works well. The photos I've taken with the phone have been fine but I'm not taking pictures everyday. I just can do so much more with my Note, the secure folder is almost like having a second phone plus the s pen can't be beat. I try new ios devices when they come out but I always get bored with them after a few weeks which is not the same feeling I get with Android. I will say ios feels a lot more Android like with the latest version then it did a few years ago but it's still too boring for me. The best analogy I've heard is ios is for people that like to play checkers and Android is for people that like to play chess.

I also use Note 9 and iPhone XS Max. The only thing I really love with the Note 9 is the secure folder function and the split screen for two apps at the same time. That’s alone make me keeping my Note.
The camera in the iPhone is better in every aspect and that is when using auto mode. Don’t have the time to fiddle with pro mode. And the problems with fur and other details in photos are really there so not that impressed with the Note camera.
The pen is nice but I don’t use it that much as I thought I would as I find the Note 9 screen to narrow to really use it in a good way for notes.
They are both really speedy devices and haven’t had any slowdowns in them. Both flying, sure the Note can have some micro lag sometimes but nothing that disturbs me.
The battery holds up much better in my iPhone with the same usage pattern but the Note still has a pretty nice battery. The speakers are much better in the iPhone. But they are not bad on the Note.
And the gesture navigation on the XS is outstanding as is Face ID. I miss this two things very much when using the Note
I have the exynos version and the snapdragon is said to be better on battery and speed

I have not had any issues with taking pictures, as I stated I don't take pictures every day but I do take my fair share of them. I was recently in Southern Germany/Austria and Hungary for an extended trip and I took many photos without any problems using my Note exclusively. I do agree with easycure1974, the battery on the iphone xs max is better, I still have about 60 to 70% left in my Note at the end of the day but maybe 70-80% left on my iphone. Both are very good but the iphone has better battery management.

To be honest XS MAX is the one i wanted, but the cost is very close to double of that of the note 9. and it definately is not 2x better.

Well to be fair my S8 didn't slow down my S9 plus never lost a beat and never had a app crash n9 the best phone all the S9 plus good with the large battery brighter screen and a pen.
Had iPhone 6s iPhone 7 plus 8 and iPhone x and n9 for me is the whole package.

I've switched from the iPhone 7 plus to this phone and the difference is day and night. You cant even compare the two at all. My battery is insane. Background operations are managed very well to the point where my SOT hits 7.5-8 hours easily. This phone is literally the best phone you can buy now a days. The only thing I miss is iOS and it's cleaner design. I can't wait for the note 10. Options are endless on this phone. I've had literally zero issues for the 2 months I've had this phone. And now the android pie release this month will make it even better. You won't regret it if you're not hooked to the apple "ecosystem"

I mean i do buy music/apps/books alot, from itunes but the iPhone is about the only apple device i have (no watches,tablets,laptops,desktops,tv,routers etc).

You'll love the battery life on this phone. And good on not being hooked. Same here. I never buy anything other products beside an iPhone every once in a while. But I always go back to android. This time this note is hooking me with its goodness. I don't even miss iPhone. ::highfive::

Oh...well that is not good. so the lens is not capable of sharp pictures? e.g. it cannot shoot individual hair ?
Would a pic like the attached be impossible e.g? (the hair of pets is an example, it could likewise be same for strands of grass, hair of ppl in photos etc)

Something like that would come out not so good. There is a dedicated thread sub section about camera quality.
