Are You sad that Samsung didn't give us stereo speakers?
Well, don't be. Today I made a Dual Speaker Mod for our beloved devices!
Guide:
1. Download modded mixer_paths.xml
2. With any root explorer or TWRP go to /system/etc
3. Paste and overwite/replace Your current mixer_paths.xml with the modded one.
4. Set permissions to 0644 or 644.
5. Reboot & enjoy!
Download:
Dual Speaker Mod
First I want to thank you for the mod.
Before I install it I have some questions
1. How does this work? It uses the ear piece as the second speaker?
2. If that's the case doesn't it affect it over time?
Thanks!
Hi, any way to ADB this to non rooted Snapdragon devices?

1. Yes.
2. It's not as loud as the main speaker so it shouldn't damage it. Similar mods have been made since Galaxy S6 I think, even with higher volumes and I haven't seen any complains. I used it on my S7 Edge and everything worked just fine. Didn't make any of my speakers noisy etc.

Probably not.. You could most likely replace it using TWRP, but not sure if SD model has TWRP already or ability to unlock the bootloader.

No, SD don't have it and provably will take a lot. I'm asking about it because I've seen others mods done over ADB

Is there anyway to do this without TWRP or rooting the device? I would like to try avoiding rooting my device utill the oreo update(whenever that will be)

Seems like some mods can be applied through adb but this one requires RW access to /system which can be only enabled with root. And I could make TWRP for SD model but unlocked bootloader is required.

I found in another forum a couple of files which allow us to add MegaBass, one of the most beloved features of Sony Ericsson's W(alkman) phone series. I bundled them in an update.zip to be flashed with Clockwork Mod, and given that they work in all Xperia phones, I've decided to spread them around
I hope it's useful!

*Note* I didn't make these files nor am I savvy enough to discuss their effect. They've been tested in most models with success, though, so again, I distribute them in the hope that they can be useful.

It should be activated by default. I've been told that you need a good equalizer like DSPManager and good headphones to notice the change.
Since this is an update.zip file, you need to be able to enter CWM recovery. Therefore, you need an unlocked bootloader.

if your phone is rooted, you can just extract the update.zip and copy the files.
do not forget to set the proper permission to the files you copied.
after the reboot, it should be loaded by default I suppose.
edit: well, as written in the script, there should be no problem with the method above. but, I could not feel much differences though.

From my understanding it reinforces the bass that the equalizer can produce.

Folks not using a Chinese model Z2 will want to copy the soundtweaks section out of the included build prop otherwise your about/system information will be wrong. I just copied and pasted the #soundtweaks section into my build.prop, threw that in the zip and flashed away.
Mine is a D6503 for example.

Works great here. Almost all of the other sound mods are crashing on my phone (well any that use a separate DSPengine.apk to allow a separate equalizer). Like I posted earlier, be wary of the included build.prop. Just copy the sound tweaks section out and add it to your own unless you want your phone to show up as a Chinese Z2 variant.
here is a modified version with D6503 build.prop if you don't want your phone to show as L50w
the mod is working fine, the best so far in term of sound quality.
only issue when rewind/forward the youtube video slider, you lose sound, not sure if it causing by this mod or from the rom. I will check next time I change the rom and report back.
btw you lose sound for the current track/video only, and not ringtones or notification and if you refresh the youtube video the sound is back.

This is still the best soundmod available for 4.4.4/.167 in my opinion too.

Ive been trying to figure that out too. I did notice the volume is extremely loud for me on the top setting already. I think i just used the mixerpath file out of your package though (i had been playing with the other two or three that were posted on here by okolos and the soundmod 3.1 and the revolution one but all three didnt do anything better for me, or constantly FCed whenever id try to use their dsp settings). Sorry.

Unless the note has waterproof external speakers as well that is likely never going to happen.

Bro. The reason why nothing seems to work on stock is because they ****ed up the vendor/etc/audio_effects.conf
Copy your system/etc/audio_effects.conf to your vendor/etc and replace the existing one. Then flash my Dolby Atmos' or any other. Same thing with V4A.
Idk what OnePlus was thinking when they released the phone with bugged configs.

This is a known issue we are working on fixing. However Numbers is internal beta right now and we are currently testing a fully systemless implementation.

Isn't it easier to install magisk and then install Viper? Then you can easily control audio volume from the viper app independently for speaker, headphones, Bluetooth etc.
@rygle, this mod is to set a _default_ voulme level. Nothing to do with controlling the volume, which you would still do via whatever means you want.

This mod will allow you to listen to media using the main speaker and the phone earpiece at the same time, resulting in a much better audio experience.
Steps:
1: Using a root file manager, go to system/vendor/etc and rename mixer_paths_tasha.xml to mixer_paths_tasha.xml.bak
2: Download my mixer_paths_tasha.xml
3: Paste my mixer_paths_tasha.xml into system/vendor/etc and set permission 0644 (rw-r--r--)
4. Reboot
Done, enjoy!
