Hey guys !
I've recently rescued my i8190 replacing the motherboard with a i8190n, and yesterday I succesfully rooted it following this guide (https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2147852)
I've started searching for a suitable ROM which increase or mantain battery life and also based on newer android versions (5 or 6)
I currently considered LineageOs, Resurrection Remix and OmniROM, but I don't know which version is the most reliable and power-consumption friendly. Current android versions (7.) seems to struggle with s3 mini hardware (which is understandable) so that's why I'm looking for older versions.
Twrp will need to be installed and so far I've found this version (http://novafusion.pl/2014/09/11/release-twrp-v2-8-0-0-s3-mini/#comments) which seems to be the most reliable.
Which Rom and Twrp would you recommend me to suit my needs ?
I appreciate your help !
PD: NFC is not being used due to 3 pin battery from original i8190
Omni lollipop for stability - daily driver. I use a older version 20160325 for better battery.
Virginity V14 if you're looking for a solid stock experience.

Please report back as I also have a i8190 to resurrect so would value your opinion?
Mine will be used as an everyday phone for my 12year old daughter so stability and battery performance is top of my priority list. Latest OS/features less so.

So far I've been trying OmniROM 5.1.1 v. 20160325 and I'm pretty impressed with battery consumption. Maybe you will notice some battery drops after flashing the ROM but after some calibrations it will last longer. Keep in mind that some google services may increase consumption if you decide to install gapps, so I also recommend trying the microG (not so easy to set up but satisfying once you're using it). Also look for other "improved" aps (facebook lc, etc) in xda forums in case your daugther needs it.
Also remember to root after flash ROM in case you need root privileges for any app.

Dear all,
I am come from Sony mini phone to S3 mini. Flash roms on Sony mobile was quite easy with cwm.
Now on S3Mini I am a Newby. It would be interesting to have cm11 but main interest is a good battery life time. And in parallel Rom has to be stable.
Does battery life time will increase in case of custom Rom, compared with stock Rom?
And if yes - which Rom shall I chose?
Thanks for your advices

You flash roms on cwm for the s3 mini, so nothing else is different. You're going have to flash different roms and find one that works for you, battery-life is extremely subjective (i might get 24 hours and you might get 12 hours because you use it differently then I do).
Generally speaking threads like these are closed because what ROM i think is best, you might think is awful.
Here's a link to flash TWRP: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2678274
Generally speaking older ROMs tend to be more stable and bugfree as they had more work done on them.
From what I know there's
CM10.1, CM10.2 CM11, OMNIROM, PACROM, AOKP, CARBON, VANIR, SLIMROM and plenty more.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-mini/orig-development check out those ROMs, and see if they fit your needs.
Thread closed as its a Best ROM thread.
OP there is no absolute "best" ROM - only the ROM that works best for you. Due to differences in how you use the device, what works best for other users may not work best for you and vice versa. My suggestion therefore is to try out some different ROM's and see which one you find the best for you.
Hi everyone,
I left my N7000 for a Oneplus One, now that I see the N7000 of my wife...I see that it lags, a LOT.
Is there any ROM which could be fast & stable ?
A lot of ROMs freeze or reboot (Kitkat Asylum roms etc.) and Samsung roms are really bad....
Thanks for your help !

All ROMs freeze and reboot. I suggest switching to stock Jellybean ROM, none of the ROMs here are worth it.
Thanks for your response. Is there any ROM which could be better than others? If possible without without any Samsung app...

Nope. Try searching this thread: Link
Omnirom runs great in my n7000!
I've had my Note since May 2014 and until recently I would have agreed with AutumQueen92's comment that

The reason was that there were some severe device/platform specific kernel bugs that affected every ROM for the Note and other Exynos based devices with similar hardware (Galaxy S2 and variants). So I tried lots of different ROMs and versions and then spent 7 months running rooted Samsung Jelly Bean instead. At least it worked, didn't overheat, all the hardware was supported and it didn't crash. But it was slow, insecure (no patches or updates for years!) and the audio noise gate bug was hideous (see https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=35861 and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2231796)
However, XDA member Lanchon and some others did a great job of diagnosing some very difficult problems and creating fixes and getting the fixes merged into cyanogenmod and other projects. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ernel-fpbug-stable-4-x-kernel-galaxy-t2978107
So I tried Cyanogenmod 11 (KitKat) with Lanchon's kernel and haven't been tempted to revert to Samsung firmware. It works really well, is stable, is considerably snappier than both Samsung JB and all the Lollipop ROMs including the 5.1 versions. Battery life is massively better than the older ROMS but not quite up to the level of Samsung (in Samsung JB I used to get between 4 and 6 hours screen time and battery life was huge - in CM11 I rarely get to 4 hours screen time and max battery life seems to be about 14 hours).
The only downside in CM11 is that audio Line Out via Dock doesn't work. Otherwise it's great. The hideous noise gate bug is gone and the Note now makes a really good audio player. My Sansa and iRiver players hardly get used these days.
I'd definitely recommend CM11 Nightly with Lanchon's kernel as being the best Note ROM. I like Omirom as well but I ran into some slow performance problems and also the audio noise gate bug is not dealt with so effectively.
I'm on SlimSaber ROM (tested with a lot of different kernels...) but still having a lot of freezes & reboot...is there any Galaxy Note 4.4 ROM without freezes & reboot isues ? Or I have to switch to a Samsung ROM ?
Thanks.
Hello!
i was using CM Rom for 2 years , but sadly the CM's team stoped upgrading the rom for Cm12 , so i searched for another rom , i found the OmniRom , flashed it nd used for 3 months it's a good looking rom , clean , and fast , but i should keep the cpu on (max 1400 ,min 400) and that makes the phone too hot while charge and drain the battery fast .
so should i back to CM11 , or could anyone help me to slove this proplem ?!
ART based ROMs are a little too much for our phone, IMO. They work, and you even can get used to their speed, but generally you can get better multitasking (more RAM) and battery life with older ROMs.
I would recommend to use kitkat or jellybean roms for real life usage scenarios.
Personally I use SuperNexus rom, based on pure 4.2.2 (not CM) with Semaphore kernel. SGS is my secondary phone now. I tried Lollipop/Marshmallow, but they halfed available RAM, which is crucial for our phone. Kitkat is OK, but still ~20% less RAM than JB. That sometimes leads to browser is unable to load some heavy web page.
I still think, it's fantastic, that SGS is able to run the latest android version. 5 year phone!

Yes, this is it.
Hi.
I gave my G906S to my wife last year. I made my own ROM which was based off the stock 4.4.2.
I would like to update her phone but being my wife she needs something very stable and has good battery life.
Please recommend me a ROM.
Stock lolipop

No longer being developed but based on latest stock lollipop; it's stable and the battery life is the best I've experienced on LP. If you're looking for something near stock, optimized, with some of the bloat removed, I recommend this rom.

I installed Cm12.1 and boeffla kernel for my wife's G900f.
She likes the pink/black themes available and batterylife and performance is good.
No bugs.

Thanks folks, I ended up installing NovaRom_V1.5.5, and now I have to listen to her complain everyday about something ... when I tested it, it all seemed good.
I'll look in to Cm12.1
NaraeWiz V7.3 seems to be Korean.

It is Korean although I have it installed in English, and it's the closest to stock available. Of course, it has the stock Korean-English keyboard which I need - forgot about that - although it can be replaced with alternatives.
If your wife prefers stable, stock TW, you could try @xXx's Barebone's Cleaner: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/development/mod-urwsoft-barebone-cleaner-t3043479
It's one of the fastest ways to debloat. I've used it in the past on my g906s. Stock LP 5.0.1 kinda sucks though but basically bug free except for the color fade issue.
Hi i am just wondering if anyone here can give me there opinion on best custom rom? I basically want it to be as fast as possible with the longest battery life possible. I am super use to android 6.01 and dont mind having same user interface like standard s5. I still would like NFC and GPS to work along with all google apps. I have the SM-G900I model. Not sure if if my computer is a problem but i have a super old laptop from 2007. It has a 1.7ghz celeron cpu and i'm running windows 7 on it.
The best rom is rom based on stock rom like xtrestolite. Good batterie very smooth its the best of the best for me Now im testing NEMESIS_REBORN V 5.6. Its okii
Debloated, Xposed and rooted Stock!

Best choice for the S5 is a stock based MM ROM, any debloated version with root and Boeffla kernel in my opinion. So you make the best experience and all things work exactly as they should - best camera and audio functions, fast and smooth working and a long battery life. I've tested so much ROMs on it and I always came back to 6.0.1. It's of little use to me to have the latest version of Android when I constantly have to deal with errors and notice that this phone is simply overloaded with it.

Hi, I plan to install the rom xtrestolite that you mention, but I have a doubt, the g900fd model does not appear, will there be any problem in installing the g900f model?, I would greatly appreciate your answer.
I am currently using the official stock rom 6.0.1, but I don't like the application overload that the phone brings

The latest xtestrolite ROM was only for the G900H (Exynos). If you are seaching for a useless and debloated stock ROM for the G900F, try to flash the Alexandr ROM v5.9, see here. Flash the Boeffla kernel 2.5, choose CPU governor "smartmax". This kernel and its configuration tool you found in the latest posts in the very long thread about this ROM, posted by me.
