can not restore my new note 8 - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

After switch on my phone for the first time, I'm trying to set it up and going through the initial steps. After logging into my google account, the next page shows options for restoring the phone using a previous backup. Before I can choose any option, a message appears saying, "Unfortunately Google Play Store has stopped". I have no option but to press ok, this then returns me to the previous screen.
Hard reset doesn't solve the problem
How to fix this issue?

take it back to the store you bought it at; that should not happen to a brand new phone

Try clearing the Google Play Store App cache: settings>apps> app manager>Google play store>storage> clear data. Reset and try again.

After wiping - the Market apps tries to download tons of apps

Every time I flash a new ROM after wiping, the Market application tries to download tons of apps that I've had in the past (some were uninstalled long ago).
I dont want ANY download to be done automatically, since I'm using Titanium Backup to restore the apps that I need, and the huge amount of downloads from the market just messes up my phone, and forces me to cancel every download manually, and uninstall those that I couldnt cancel on time...
I understand that some people need this feature, for me its the exact opposite...
Is there a way to manage/clear these apps from my google account?
Is there a way to force google not to save these apps for me?
Many thanks in advance!

Under settings -> Privacy you have the option to back up your data and do automatic restore when apps are reinstalled. Disable those and it should remove the settings.
skip the initial configuration. this will essentially stop google from downloading ur previous apps.
after that, setup ur google acct via gmail or the market app.
hope this helps.
thanks! will give it a shot right now

By the way, you can skip the entire initial setup menu by tapping in the top-left, top-right, bottom-right, and bottom-left corners on the screen that says to touch the Android to begin.

+1. If you skip the config and log in later, it won't try to restore apps.

[Q] Market Broke(UPDATE) All Working again!

I got message of update for market, I restarted and did market fix and now it won't start up at all. I get "Server error has occurrred. retry or cancel and return to previous screen." I have tried fix 4-5 times with no success. Do I need to uninstall market and re install it some how?
I had that too. What I did was do the market fix. Make sure you go to market and see the error notification after you do the clear data. Restart Gtab. Wait for a few minutes for wireless connection to start up, then go to market. If that does not work, just restart your gtab again, without doing the market fix, and wait for a few minutes then go to market.
Hope this help!
no go
I have tried the market fix at least 5 times and it still gives me the error. I notice now that there is no data to clear in applications/market, it just shows gray. I also noticed on my PC, in market my Google account shows I don't have any devices now..... Am I going to have to reinstall my entire ROM? I hope not as I have my tab running just right, other than the market!
Any ideas?
Back up your apps with TitaniumBackup, do a fresh rom rebuild, and use TitaniumBackup to restore your apps.
Do the market fix but instead of clearing the cache in the market clear the data. After you reboot, run the market app, accepted license agreement. At this point you should have the limited market. Now just do the normal market fix to bring back the full market. Can't make any promises but it worked for me.
Working again
I guess Google was jacked up yesterday, because tonight I was able to open market and accept license agreement and then run market fix again.... Wierd
Thanks to those who responded to my thread!

Rooted but unusable now?

Took some effort to root but finally managed it but all is not well.
Apps keep crashing, constantly I get xxxxxx has stop only option I have is to restart as the popup keeps appearing every 5 seconds or so, Google play store works fine when you install and open it, but come out of it and it attempts to open and I get Google Play Store has stopped. Anyone else had these issues?
Right I factory reset and rooted again and same issue, Problems start once I run vending.apk it can't find a signal, I reboot and it runs fine, I enter google details all fine, then sticks on loading followed by "Facebook has stopped" a reboot "facebook has stopped" but vending this time runs fine and I get access to the market, I install Playstore it runs fine I download apps but go back into Playstore "Play store has stopped"
I notice when rooting a couple of the steps fail but in the end it says you have root, is this normal?
It is solved by installing those apps that crash again. Has happened to me before and that was my solution

Google Contacts broken after 4.2.2 update

Is there any way to manually uninstall and reinstall Google Contacts on my Nexus 7? Ever since I updated, I just get the message "App stopped working" when I try to run it. I've tried stopping it, flushing the cache, signing out of my account, nothing helps.
I would appreciate any help. The tablet is rooted, so I know that opens up possible solutions.

I got it to go away by clearing the data of Contacts/Contacts Sync and then clearing data for Google Services Framework. Just go into Settings > Apps > All and they'll be in that list. It happens when you flash one rom over another one or something and they have some files that get mixed up. It seems like it's an issue that happens to a lot of people, but almost every thread has a somewhat different solution.
Hopefully my method works, if it doesn't, then reboot and go to Settings > Accounts (Google) > your email. In the upper right sign out of your account and then sign back in by going to any Google app. After a hand full of personal occurrences and many google searches, I believe this will work.
...Ok, apparently this method works somewhat. I still get the message once after every boot up, but it doesn't show up after that. The only really reliable way to get rid of it is to backup your apps (not the google ones, since they are broked) and factory reset, since that does always remove it.

Thanks for replying.
After clearing the caches and restarting, my message went from "app not working" to "app not installed."

This didn't work either.

I'm trying to avoid the factory reset. I know it will work, but I consider it the option of last resort.

[Q] google play store/ google play services "glitched" please help.

Woke up yesterday morning and I was unable to use any app google or gmail related. Every time I try to open the play store it instantly closes out. "Google" is no longer under the accounts tab in the settings. Can't log into any apps using google because they just crash when I try. Have tried EVERYTHING. Cleared cache and data and uninstalled updates for all google related apps hoping it would help. Nothing. ( yes I tried rebooting it). I have now factory restarted/wiped my phone 3 times and every time I get to the start up wizard I get "verizon location agent has failed" then I get "google play services has failed". Even without completing the startup wizard google and the play store still don't work. Called verizon. Then google. Then Motorola. They couldn't fix anything. Don't know what to do can't use a lot of my apps and I have no contacts just numbers.

Are you on a stock system? Or did you flash a system image with Mofo?

I'm on stock. Only thing I've done was remove some bloatware with rootjunky's program he put up. That was a while ago but I put it all unbloacked the bloatware and it worked for a couple minutes then stopped when I tried to update an app.

I would restore back to stock and see if the problem persists. If it is solved then at that point re-root with Mofo. If it does not fix itself bring the device to Verizon and they will factory reset it then realize thats not the problem. At which point they will replace the device for free.
