Google Camera HDR+ Port - OnePlus 5 Settings - OnePlus 5 Guides, News, & Discussion

Given the recent article on XDA reporting a major Update of the Google Camera HDR+ Port and the high level of customisation it allowed, I got curious about what combination of settings would yield the best results on our OnePlus 5.
So I decided to start this discussion to find out what settings other OnePlus 5 owners are using and what results have you achieved, specially when compared with the stock app on the latest OOS version.
Currently my settings are the ones in the screenshots attached (The continuous screenshot comes in handy in these situations, but unfortunately the XDA app doesn't allow me to upload one ;\)
P.S. Here's the link to the XDA article and where you can find the link to download the updated app https://www.xda-developers.com/google-camera-hdr-customization-raw-support/

With these settings you won't be able to get HDR+ support. You have to set NEXUS_2015 in "Support level override"

There's already a thread for this here.

Screenshots of the camera screen of HTC One on AOKP

hi, all,
Good morning. I'm thinking of buying a HTC One and running AOKP on it.
I tried to google for screenshots of how the standard camera app looks like but could not find anything relevant. I had also tried searching to no success (perhaps I missed something).
Hence, can anyone running AOKP on HTC One please post a screenshot of the default camera app?
I really want to find out if the default camera app (via AOKP) has the panorama and 360 degrees camera features just like the Nexus 4 and galaxy Nexus devices?

No, they do not. However, some people have reported that the extracted Google edition camera/gallery does work with Pano and photosphere.
Here is a Link: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B8Xc...it?usp=sharing

hi, there,
Sorry, I should have been a bit clearer. My intention is to get a HTC one and flash it with AOKP and keep updating it with AOKP from then on.
So, if i did that, would the panorama and 360 deg camera functionalities be available on HTC One flashed with AOKP?
I tried to check the google drive link you presented but it does not work
thank you.

Nexus 4 Camera Issues/Reboots from 4.3 - 4.4.2 and Ongoing

UPDATE (MARCH 13, 2014):
I have started an AOSP bug report. Please star it and comment to help it get noticed.
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=67113
******************************************
June 2, 2014: Android 4.4.3 Released
- Bug is still present.
There is currently a camera issue with the Nexus 4 that causes it to crash and reboot the entire phone when you use Snapchat or Skype or any camera app. It does not always occur but will eventually happen and occurs on all phones.
It appears to be a software issue because it is not present in 4.2, but has been present ever since 4.3. Snapchat released a message a few months ago stating that it was a Nexus 4 driver/api issue, but as of yet, there is still no resolution. It does not even appear to be acknowledged by Google.

Nic Dahlquist, a dev from the Snapchat team has been in contact with Google and made these statements:
"Here's a list of known issues: Nexus 4: Random reboots. Google is working on this"
- Sept 2013 https://plus.google.com/u/0/116487983681400689745/posts/Kb7p1GUf1jM
"They had told us that 4.4 would fix the issue, but obviously it didn't. Hopefully the new camera API will it, but I don't have any new information.
Yes, the bug was introduced in 4.3. Our attention has been focused elsewhere, but we can check up on their progress."
- Dec 2013 https://plus.google.com/wm/4/+NicDahlquist/posts/G8YXdcihKCJ
"We did [contact Google about the bug] last week. They said they'd look into it again, but I wouldn't count on a fix any time soon..."

Would be cool to ser what n4 rev those people that have problema have.
I only saw this on rev 10 or on those phones witch the cam nakes noise to foccus
I really think its hardware issue as this is not common.
This just happened on my phone, running 4.4.2
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
No such issues yet on 4.4.2. I had a restart or two when choosing the wrong settings in lgCamera and sometimes the flash. Still, lgCamcorder records BY FAR the best video on the phone, and does so on 4.4.2 with ART.
Now I'ma shoot all sorts of photos with the stock camera app, Focal and Camera Zoom FX. If I check back here, it means I had a crash.
---------- Post added at 04:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:40 PM ----------
Okay, snapped about 250 shots in quick succession.
Stock app: about 50 shots no issues now or ever
Camera Zoom FX: about 100 shots, a series of 30, various ISO and spot-metering settings, no issues (sometimes the screen flickered but no issues in the results)
Focal Beta: messing with exposure compensation triggered a crash, took another 100 shots in various ISO settings incl. a quick tap series of 50, no issues. I think the crash on Focal is more due to the beta status of the app.
System: stock unrooted 4.4.2, ART runtime.

It is not a hardware issue. It's not present on 4.2.
I have rev11 and the crashes occur for me, but they occur more on Snapchat than the actual camera app.

It is NOT uncommon.

There are 400 posts in that thread. The issue is discussed many other places so it is not just 400 people who have the issue.
Furthermore, not all 2 million devices are on 4.3+ nor do all of their owners speak English and visit Google's forums or use the camera that frequently.

Many of them complain about the reboot issue. There is an OFFICIAL statement from Snapchat acknowledging that it is a bug with the operating system; is that not sufficient evidence of the issue?
It is a consistently reproducible bug that is not limited to Snapchat: open up Snapchat, allow it to continually refocus; it WILL eventually crash and reboot your device.

Again, I'm not sure where you're getting this 98% statistic from, but that is irrelevant; the issue is not even present on 4.2.2. It exists from 4.3 onwards and currently all of the complaints are scattered throughout app reviews and more.
My N4 managed to freeze and self reboot while using the stock camera app and 4.4. I guess I'll be experiencing that again with 4.4.2.
To those who curious, my device is Rev_11.

4.2.2 != 4.2, 4.2.2 had some system changes rather than the 4.2.1(witch was just new calendar apk).
PS: the statics i didnt got, google said when they released the n4 officialy here, that all the nexus 4 made in februrary(or after) was going to be packed with 4.2.2 .

Yes, but the camera reboot bug did not occur until 4.3. It was not present in 4.2.2
Having a similar issue in CM 10.2 stable release. Wake phone, swipe to camera widget, take picture, the phone powers off and reboots. I am using stock gallery apk with photosphere
I've had this issue for a long time. I've noticed it on snapchat a while back. It's very annoying.
Finally someone that also has this bug! My phone reboots at least once a day using Snap Chat. I consider myself pretty patient when it comes to bugs but this one is ridiculous. How can it possibly be that they haven't found a fix yet? I imagine the chips will hit the fan when more devices update to 4.3 and 4.4
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I'm pretty sure there is a SW request toward the ISP it cannot understand or puts it into a loop. It appears SnapChat triggers it more than other apps, hence you all experiencing it. You'll have to go for an alternative app and report it to the devs.

This works better because it has all the lib files and everything for extra functionality. (I removed the link due to the powers that be, but google search HTC m9 camera port and you will find it.)
At the bottom of the comments someone provided a full patch for 4k video.
Does it have an HDR+ option?
Selinux needs to be permissive for some reason

If you are using lean kernel, there is an option available in lkconfig.
Otherwise, you would need to use the app SElinux Changer.
It was pulled from Google Play, but can be downloaded here on XDA:

Could also use a terminal emulator app and run "su 0 setenforce 0" without the quotes. For me, the SELinux app here on XDA was not persistent. I would be switched back to enforcing after a reboot. The terminal way persists through reboots.

More features awaited!
Well, I've been using the HTC One M9 Camera App for about 4-5 days as my primary camera app and I'm quite happy. For instance, there are some awesome modes in it like Brokeh, Split Camera etc. But, Google Camera has better panorama. The HDR mode is needed as I compared the photos on my laptop... Google ones were better even when HDR+ mode wasn't even on! Having said that, HTC One M9 Camera is a beautiful addition to our phones as the Google Camera is still 2012 in my opinion!
Features awaited(in terms of importance):
1. HDR (most important)
2. Slow motion video
3. Faster focusing
Please hit the THANK YOU button if you think my review helped you. I will continue to post further info on this.
This is way better than the stock camera. The focus issue on the stock camera made me hate my camera, now with this I'm liking it. Thank you

Google Camera

One big advantage von the IPhone 7Plus and the Huawei 9P is the double camera on the backside giving you some functions known from SLRs (e.g. Blur effect in the background).
Google Camera App is offering this by moving the camera during picture, however it is not supported on Oxygen OS (yet). The most recent versions can be installed, but will crash after a second or two...
UPDATED: This is the last version working for Oneplus 3T based on my knowledge...Link below

Second this. HDR+ (not HDR) will be amazing.
I use Camera NX. It's a modded apk from the Pixel. You don't get extra features, but you do get the modern UI and it works great for the background blur. Just be sure to grab the download for non-Nexus devices.

the latest apk seems to work fine but there is hardly any noticeable change in quality from stock camera, only the autofocus seems to work better. also the app crashes when i select slow motion tab.

Help needed - App Testing [Easy DND]

Hi guys
I made this app which is currently in Beta. I've had a lot of downloads and I received two emails recently, one to say the app does not work on the S8, and the other to say the app does not work on the Note 8. So I tested my app on the Samsung Remote Test Lab and it seems to be working fine on the S8. I am wondering about the Note 8, as I wasn't able to test Pie on it.
I then thought of asking the S8 and Note 8 forums for help. If you are on Android Pie, could you please try the app and let me know if it does what it is supposed to?
For more info, the XDA thread is: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-easy-dnd-disturb-beta-release-t3917437
The Playstore link is: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.strangerweather.easydnd
Needless to say it's a free app. If you could post your findings in this thread I would be very grateful! Cheers!

Thanks for pointing this out. I have now updated my OP with correct links!
Still hoping that someone can test, cheers!
Hey so, I'm on a note 8 running pie and ive got some information regarding the application.
If you turn DND On
Select Priority Only mode
Enable messages and alarms
(And then check the permissions through Samsung settings)
Everything is fine so far.
But if you then go into priority settings and change anything
It will disregard what you previously selected (in this case messages and alarms)
I will screen record and post it here if you would like.

Hello, many thanks for your reply! A recording would be great as I don't quite understand what you mean. If it's not too much trouble.
Cheers!

Indeed, this helps a lot thanks, you've found a bug! It's not specific to the Note 8, I have the same on my phone.
I'll work on sorting that out then.
:good:
