Notification Bar Swipe Down - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

After adding a case, I find it incredibly hard to swipe the Notification panel down. Same with side bar, but there is a useful app to correct that Called "Side Apps Bar".
How can I increase the area that I have to touch to pull down the Notifications bar? Highly frustrating when I have to swipe 5 times to get it to come down.

Do you have the latest TouchWiz home that allows you to swipe down anywhere to drop the notification bar? Much easier than reaching way up there or using the fingerprint gesture, see this thread.

Sweet! Thanks

You can also use the fingerprint scanner to pull down the bar.
Its in the settings. But once setup, you can swipe down on the scanner with any finger to pull down the bar.
And swipe up to push it back up.

Very useful, thanks for the tip

These are great tips, but, they don't work too great in other apps. Is there a way to extend the swipe down area system wide?

What app didn't it work in? I haven't found any

Does the fingerprint gesture only pulls down the notification panel once for you guys? I tried swiping again after but it won't fully expand notification panel for me. I wish it would.

Why not just download the latest TouchWiz and swipe down anywhere?

I think because that only works on the home screens. Swiping with the fingerprint sensor works within apps

There's a setting I missed. Nice, I like that a lot, thanks.
But yeah like liquidguru said, the fingerprint gesture can come in handy sometimes. I dn't use the fingerprint scanner for anything else so mightbas well make use of it some how. Oh well.

I can't find swipe down notifications panel by fingerprint sensor in settings. Please help guys. Appreciated

Disable swipe down gesture in Android ROM?

Hi XDA!
I'm running _null on my Galaxy Gear and enabled the Full SystemUI. I'd like to use the notification drawer, but pulling it down is a gamble because of the 'swipe down to back' gesture of the Gear.
Is there any way to disable it?
Thanks!
Kenny

If you slide at the corners you don't trigger the gesture, it's easy to get used to.

Damn, thanks, that helps a lot.
I'd still like to disable this completely since I use Pie controls anyway. But this helps me out a lot already - thanks!

One Hand Operation+. A gem!

This app comes with Samsung's Good Lock. I see very few people talking about it and actually knowing that it does even exist.
Give it a go! It allows you to bascially navigate your phone fully without any navigation bar. The main reason to use it over other similar apps is that this one obviously does not use any accessibility services. Besides, it is FREE.
You have 6 customisable swipe actions.
The swipe area itself can also be heavily customised to your taste.
Try it.
The swipe actions available.
I prefer this gestures app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ivianuu.oneplusgestures
It works great.

I have tried basically all the similar apps on the Play Store, this one works the best after a week of testing: very responsive, never fails to trigger and works like a charm with the curved glass while feeling very natural.
Granted if you are not keen on side gestures, then this will not work for you.
The big draw is that, as mentioned, it does not require any accessibility service.
I agree that performance is better. I'm going to use OH+ for a while now. I really like the Good Lock apps.

Same here! These are the tiny details that make you choose one ecosytem over another.
I would argue OH+'s implementation of gestures suits tall phones with very little bottom chin better. Its more ergonomic.

I agree it's implementation is a lot better. It feels more natural to swipe from the side of the screen, especially on a tall screen. So much easier then trying to reposition your thumb to the bottom of the screen

Good Lock, especially One Hand Operation +, will get a lot of use if it comes bundled with Samsung phones.
OnePlus already has its own solution. Samsung needs to bundle these and integrate it in Samsung Experience.

Definitely agree with you on that! I bet most people aren't even aware of it! I wish they would have a function to get rid of the navigation bar, then it would be perfect!

Put the transparency to 0 so that you can see the swipe area. Once you are happy with where you want to position it and the size etc, you adjust the transparency.
Note that you have to swipe from the very edge, just like you do for the Edge Panels.
Hope it works for you.

You can install Navigation Gestures from xda-devlopers. It has a feature to hide the navigation bar in a way that no other app does. Then just don't enable the gesture functions for the app, then in theory your navigation bar should be completely gone and you can just use One Hand Operation+ without any of the other gestures or the navigation bar.

A combo of Onehand Operation+ and Navigation Gestures. Good idea!
Update: It appears you have to enable Accessibility Services even just to hide the Navigation bar using the xda app.
Defeats the purpose, the only reason i recommended the samsung app is because it does not need any Accessibility Services and hence there is no hit to performance at all.

Samsung Pay Launch Widget (SOLVED)

My Samsung Pay launch widget is gone (the one you swipe up from the bottom of your phone to make a payment). Anyone else have this problem?

No, hadn't used any adb commands. I can swipe up from my lock screen as usual, but that's never been on that screen. From the always-on display, that's a 'no', but again that widget doesn't appear on that screen.
Just two days ago I saw this and enabled the feature. As you can see, this setting is now greyed out! That's not a good sign. I've tried toggling the setting off and rebooting, but no change. I can still use Samsung Pay, but I have to open the app itself.
I've also toggled all the of these off and on, no change. In gonna turn them off, reboot, then see if I can enable them again.
Well that didn't work either! Grrrrr...does not show up!!!
That is super weird. Yeah I dunno, I had a similar issue but it was because of a gestures app hiding the navbar
I remember the Samsung pay thing at the bottom of my screen also. I think it disappeared or I disabled it. Forgot which .

You have to have Home Screen access turned on within Pay to use the swipe up fingerprint gesture

I had that same issue and I believe the fix was to add your card to favorites in the Samsung Pay App.

If you on Pie and using navbar you cannot hide it anymore.
Samsung has taken that option away.
You have to basically use the swipe gestures.
However if you use, certain apps like
eg
Shortcutter Quick Settings (Play Store)
I just tested it now, yes then you can hide navbar.
or maybe some Bixby remapper can do it.?
I however use the swipe actions .
Takes a bit, to get use to it,
but i now prefer swipe to navbar, as it seems pretty obvious
Samsung is "forcing" you to opt for
swipe.?
I've got a feeling that Samsung will drop navbar all together for swipe. (at some stage. or later ?)
Good luck.

I discovered that too recently. But the swipe gesture navigation is actually not that bad.

Swipe Notifications Down From Anywhere on Screen?

Hi there,
Is there anyway to use the OnePlus feature of swiping anywhere on Screen and bringing the notification tray down?
I have a gesture app installed but it's not working well and you have to swipe to the right.
What about the xda gesture app?
Thanks
If you install Nova launcher you'll have that feature on your home screen
I have it. Do I need the pro version?
Thankd

I have been able to swipe down anywhere on the screen to bring down the panel from start. I use the standard launcher, the Space walk theme and full screen gestures and no buttons.
