Punk case - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Accessories

Hello all,
I have found a good looking, protective case from punkcase.com.
I wanted to ask if someone has experience with the case? I have bought this one yesterday afternoon: Note 8 case from Punk Case
My thoughts: Even though they advertise it as waterproof and ip68 certified, which raised some questions to me since the note 8 already is waterproof, I decided to try it. In less then 24 hours they gave me a tracking ID from DHL and I am currently awaiting to recieve the order. I'll post pictures once I recieved my case.

Well, I had this case for my s8+ just few weeks ago. The case was build very similar to the Ghostek Nautical case. In fact, I had them side by side to compare (sorry, no pictures since I returned both the cases). The only reason I returned them was they were too big and bulky. Your phone would look like a tank. Besides that, the case felt nice. I did the waterproof test myself (with a piece of paper towel inside) and it worked great. Overall, the case felt very protective and looked great. Just too big for me.

Thank you for ur input! I appreciate the feedback.

This case doesn't get a lot of love on Amazon.

I would like to know any more of a follow up on the ones who have this case. I'm debating on buying one for my wife an myself. Any pics? Or videos?

Thanks for the info, finally shipping some decent cases, would prefer to have less bulky options tho from other manufacturers.
Just me or am I the only one that finds that case not very attractive at all?
Looks way too bulky.
When it arrives, could you write a review? I'm in need of a case, but with with shipping costs it's at over 50 $, so I want to be certain the case is really good.
PLEASE post pics when you get it
I ordered it last week. I should be getting it tomorrow.

New Active X Seidio case and holster for Nexus S!!
Just got an email from Seidio about the Google Nexus S Active X and the Holster Combo. I don't know if I'm gonna get one but they look alright.
Here's the link http://www.seidioonline.com/SearchResults.asp?Search=K3SSN2
i ordered just the case, no holster, as i think putting phones on belts is kinda lame. but, i hope this thing is still pocketable. I am so rough on phones, an i have decided with the ns that i will no longer switch phones ever 3 months. So i gotta keep her fit. Delivery was just confirmed, and arriving today or tom...will post pics.
10% off your entire order
Hey guys, after seeing this post, I used this code:
DISC2011
It worked, while it is only 10%, it is off your entire order and still better than a sharp stick in the eye.
Any help to the community is better than none
I ordered it last week and it just shipped today.
Monday then? I'm very interested as well.
I received it on Friday... so far so good. Its very slippery. The first layer is really thin and the exoskeleton has a nice touch. The volume and power buttons are covered but very easy to use. Not much bulk and the first thin rubber is a lint magnet. I like it. 8 out of 10.

Incipio Feather for Nexus S First Look

Hey guys,
Last night I went to Gdgt Live in Austin and Incipio was there. I asked them if they're going to release feather cases for the Nexus S and they said that they'll come out within the next two weeks! This could be a viable substitute for the barely there case since they're almost the exact same thing. I have the feather case for my Zune HD and I <3 it!

Video: Incipio Feather for Nexus S First Look
Hi guys,
I'm here with another video overview for you all! I got my hands on the Incipio Feather and just wanted to share my thoughts and show off the case to those of you wondering how it fits/looks and whether or not you should buy it. All information is on the video below:
Thanks,
Gianpy
Good video. I'm curious if that case is basically the same as the cheap ones from China on ebay. It really looks like it from watching the video.

I've tried one that I believe you're talking about, it is another thin polycarbonate case. Couple of things I noticed that are different:
1- Feather has 1 large cutout for camera/flash, the one I tried had separate cutouts
2- Feather's inside is soft touch, the one I tried had a glossy inside and soft touch backing
3- Fit on the eBay ones is not as tight (which worries me, since I feel dust/debris can get in and scratch backing)
Other than that they are very similar
Thanks for the video. If I were to get any case I suppose this would be it because I hate bulk, but that price is a bit too high... and no screen protector either, lame lol.
Love it!
I ordered mine (Fedex!) a few minutes after they posted it on the Incipio website and it came today. I already had the Feather case for my Samsung Focus, so I knew what to expect.
It looks great, but the best thing about it is that it doesn't wiggle or squeak like the Seidio Platinum case. Be warned, however... this is a case for people who don't really want a case, if that makes any sense! This won't protect your phone as well as a fat, ugly TPU case.

Are cases really necessary for the Note 2? Share your experience

Hi all
I just ordered a Note 2 and, by all the comments on cases around here, I wonder if I should hurry to also get a case.
But the point is: is it really necessary?
- A case makes this big phone even bulkier.
- A case can compromise ports access, external audio quality and the gps/nfc/... receptions
- A good case can cost a lot of money
- I won't find a case around the corner (at least, here in Brazil). I must buy it online, maybe pay for shipping and wait for like a month for it to come to me.
Hey, I don't want to be critical to the ones who feel important to use a case. Just want to start some discussion here
My point of view:
I'm retiring an old Motorola Defy. It has never used any kind of case or screen protector and its condition is quite good. It is always in my pocket (a lot of times sharing the space with a bunch of keys) and it has fallen to the ground some times, from like the pocket height for instance.
I know the Note 2 is a different phone, so thats the point of the question. I've never had another Samsung phone, so I may not have the right idea about the durability of it.
So, I'm looking forward to your thoughts and experiences on using (or not using) protective cases for the Note 2.
I would prefer not to have one, but I would mostly get one if this really happens that Samsung did a fragile phone and it is important to get external protection.
100% need a case. I got my note 2 weeks ago and bought a genuine Samsung case which is skim anyway. Protects the screen and back from scratches. Plus no case makes it slippery and one drop will mean destroyed phone. Good luck mate!

Hi Brayden87, thanks for the reply.
I've seen the samsung case on the Note 1. It really is slim.
It actually is so slim I wonder it really does protect the phone. Would you say it can make the difference upon a drop?
This is one I would like to get... probably easier to find too.
For the love of god get a case. I have a cover for that it a back plate with a leather flap that goes over the screen, and a screen protector. My wife has a full case for hers.
I dropped my. Screen smashed. She drops hers a few times not one scratch.
After I get a DIY new screen off amazon. Im buying am otter box. (Rogers send broken screens to samsung and costs $280. Or a DIY is only $16)

Hi plugsmustard.
Very interesting experience. It seems that this phone is really more fragile than my Defy. I don't doubt that, it is so much larger and thinner, it looks like it may brake easily. Its just that Samsung should be salling a phone that is fairly resistant to the day-to-day misshapenings...
But these otterbox are very expensive and would have to find a retailer that ships to Brazil. Can I trust Ebay sellers?
Isn't it too bulky?
What are the least requirements for a good protective case?
Note 2 size is big so I do not want case for it. Only a carbon back cover for better handling and protect camera. When bezel is scratched, I replace it for 5$. Perfect way for me .

You can purchase knock-off Otterbox cases from eBay, as well as others such as the Griffin Survivor case (fake, but still provides great protection) Casemate Tough and the Urban Armor Gear Note 2 case, etc.
Above-mentioned cases have been thoroughly reviewed by the one and only Vectron, and are viewable here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192333
I got the body glove tpu... slim and sexy. Dropped my phone about 4ft high and didn't get any damage. Of course could be just luck. Phone is big and slick without a case. I would get a slim tpu type of case if you are worried about bulk. It gives a little more protection than naked.

For the love of all that is good and holy, get a case. And you don't need to go crazy buying an expensive one or waiting forever for a HK distributor. I own a bunch of cases because I love to swap 'em out, but my go-to case (and one of the least expensive cases I've bought is the Duzign Sentinel from from eBay that I got for $7.00 from a seller named senyx. The auctions are non-stop and I often see them ending at the opening bid of $7.00, like when I got mine. Shipping is free and the seller is in CA, so you get it quickly:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Duzign-Sent...t=US_Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&hash=item20d25bad89
It's been discussed on other threads, but this one has a cool H.R. Giger alien look to it, offers awesome protection, and it has, in my opinion, the best TPU inner layer of any case (it's got a nice thick lip to protect the screen of your Note 2 in case of an unlucky fall). Heck the TPU is a great case by itself, and the outer shell comes with a kickstand for horizontal viewing. the Sentinel is identical to the Cruzer Lite Spi-Force case which sells for about $20. Just don't get the black/white as the white does get dirty pretty quickly. Mine is black on black and besides my UAG and bamboo cases, it easily gets the most compliments.
That is my .02 . . . hope it helps.
Not that it's particularly delicate, but it is particularly expensive.
If you don't buy a case, I expect the first bit of damage to trigger a new thread "Scratched by $600 phone! Damn!"
Hi everybody.
Thanks for all the opinions. These Duzign Sentinel do seem quite robust and not that bulky. The looks are quite odd (comparing to the original sober looks of the phone) but are not that bad...
That is the kind of price I would pay without feeling that I am paying a lot to have a bulkier phone.
I wont bother much if the bezel gets scratched. My main concern is the screen integrity.
I do have one year warranty (which I do not know if covers external damage :/) and, if something happen, I could always go DIY to try to fix it. The biggest problem would be the phone become useless for weeks :/
I do agree that it is important to feel safer with such expensive phone.
At the other hand, is hard to believe that Samsung, which is leading against Apple in such quality fight, still delivers such a fragile gadget and even dont provide a reasonable protection option as an accessory. That is very awkward.
Case-mate Tough seems very nice and is found at US$ 10.99 on Amazon. Too bad it doesn't ship to Brazil.

Any other suggestion of worldwide retailers? Ebay?

Haha . . so true. I know it's dorky, but I remember my grandmother always telling me: "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Well, in this case, a $10 case is worth a $100 deductible.

Actually cheaper through Case-Mate because shipping is free if you have Amazon Prime. This other seller requires a $3.99 surcharge. Still, $14.64 is a good deal. Returns or problems would probably be handled much better through original retailer, as well.

Good question. I had the flip case but it sucks and I dropped my phone twice and got two nice dents. I ordered a simple case for like 5 bucks just so the back doesn't feel slippery and what not. I do not use a screen protector, it'll be fine.
I bought the seidio active case and a glass screen protector before I even bought the note ii. This is a very expensive phone, I wouldn't use it and not buy some kind of protection. Seidio has an updated case call surface case but it didn't work with the glass screen protector cause the inside hard case would rub against the screen protector and push it up.The active case work great it's very slim and has a holster. Well long story short, I dropped my phone many times and nothing has broke or cracked. My job is physically demanding and its easy to bump or drop. Alot of my coworkers has cracked screens or has broken there phone.

I think you're confused with another case, I have the protective cover+ and it's probably 2-3mm thick. Adds barely any thickness to the note 2 and looks awesome. Cost me $30. I didn't want a big case and this one is perfect for me. Covers everything you want covered.

Very interesting indeed. And very nice looking bumper btw. This metallic bumper wouldn`t interfere on the device antennas?
I will consider these as well... I wonder how they compare to full body cases such as Duzign Sentinel, Speck Candyshell or Case-mate Tough.
I didn't feel like I needed a case at all. Till I dropped it. Twice. The rear cover went flying and so did the battery. Phone held up flawlessly, but i didn't like the flying parts. So I bought a cute Incipio case from androidcentral.com

Verus Leather Wallet Diary Case

Hey all,
I just got my Note 5 recently but have yet to get a case because I'm undecided! I've been looking at wallet style cases but the ones I've seen online for the most part look like cheap flimsy pleather and I'm not a fan.. However I came across this:
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Verus-Genuin...62049429657?var=&hash=item3d035cf899#shpCntId
Looks real nice, but I cannot for the life of my find a review online in any format about it. Does anyone have this case by chance or have any experience with it (maybe from other phone models)? I'd like some feedback before spending the cash on it.
Thanks.

It does look good but given that many of those folio/wallet cases feature magnets, I would ask the seller if the case has hidden magnets that may hamper SPen functions.

the case is great. great quality good protection. the only con is the magnet. even with the magnet i still have bought 2 of them for my note 4 and 5. eventually it will make a spot on the screen where the pen doesnt work. sorry i just checked the actual link. so this one doesnt look like it has the magnet. mine is the one with it. i can see there being an issue with keeping it closed without a magnet. i have 5 cards in mine and the magnet is needed.

I've used a different leather flip from ebay, I just removed both magnets. No magnet needed, says closed.

Just wondering if you actually bought that case. I'm still looking for a good leather wallet case and I would love to get your feedback on that one if you got it.

Yup I did. Only just ordered it the other day though. Had to think hard about it because I was also looking at the High Pro Shield as well. I'll post up pics when I get it in.

I asked the seller before buying and he said there are no magnets. Hope that's true because it's one of the reasons I don't buy wallet cases usually. That and it adds bulk.
It looks nice but those pocket not so. Is there any leather case out there without the pocket on the left? I think magnet is a good idea to keep the cover close in a drop.

Any case with a magnet will create a dead spot on your screen when using the Spen.

Waterproof Case?

I loved my lifeproof for my Galaxy s4, I know they dont have a case for the note 5 but are there any other companies who make a good waterproof case?
I think Ghostek makes the highest-rated waterproof one for the Note 5. Supcase makes a resistant one, but I've seen mixed reviews about how effective it is.
Ghostek 2.0, check Amazon. It's got decent reviews.
Had a ghostek for my note 4. Can't say "test for waterproof" enough times.

I have the Ghostek 2.0 for my Note 5. It's slim, adds a bit of weight, not very grippy... I recommend using the provided lanyard. I dropped mine and it landed just right and bent/ripped some of the film on the back cover. They replaced the whole case for free; didn't even need the old/damaged one back. It's definitely the best case I've owned. Never tested the waterproof-ness.
I'm going to Miami soon so ordered this case. Defai tly gonna test it out before I go but I got high hopes for it. http://m.ebay.com/itm/252081334034
So I got it. Tested with paper towel, passed with flying colors. Small problem though is its much hard to type under water but possbile

Well when I take caseless note 5 and note 3 together that's how much thicker it is
Looks weird does it feels bulky as it sees?

Hi, How good is this case? Also were you able to access all buttons, Fingerprint scanner, and S-pen?

Yes, but screen is less sensitivity, and barely senstive under water. I dont use finger print scanner, the s pen is accessable like the charger port. They are sealed with 2 rubber things that you can pull out if need be, but once you pull them out, be sure to put back because its and opening for water
I thought about getting this ghostek atomic waterproof 2.0 case. Im getting bored of my spigen slim armor case.

I know this is an old thread but I just picked up a redpepper case from eBay. It's like LifeProof only less expensive

Is it water proof
It says it is and i wattertested the case prior to putting the phone in but don't have the balls to test it with the phone in it! The case is for a "what if" situation only for me
