I use both EE and Vodafone, in my work place I get very bad signal with EE so I use Vodafone for data, outside of work I use EE as it's a lot better.
Does anyone know of a way that I can automatically switch the mobile data SIM based on location using Tasker or another method?
Thanks.

hi there guys.is it possible to get the XDA2's on the 3G network.A family member want smy old PDA but is on the 3 Network! Need to no if there is a flash,Rom, ect...
Thanks layton
Now theres's 'Three' the mobile operator and theres '3G' the technology.
As I understand it, Three's SIM's can be a pain so it's best to just put the SIM in and see, if you can.
I'm quite sure that you can't get 3G on a BA though, regardless of operator or ROM, quite simply because the BA doesn't have the hardware for it.
About the SIM card: 3UK Sim cards are supposed to only work in 3G phones (different type of SIM card). There are some older 3UK Sims that do work in a 2G phone such as the BA. But 3 will be able to find this out an either send you a replacement Sim, or terminate your contract and make you pay the remainder - you broke their T&Cs.
Network: If you have a 3 SIM that works in your BA, you will not actually be using the 3UK network. You will be roaming onto O2 (or Orange from Jan 2007) permanently. The BA is not a 3G device.
yes i understad that the 3g simcards dont work on 2g phones.but u can get a phone which is on 02,orange...for examplea nokia n70.if the phone is on o2 u can flash with 3G software and will work on three.i was just wondering if it might be possible.this is also possible on sony ericcsson 2g phones.i have the phones to prove it.
You can ONLY use 3G services if your device supports 3G. The Nokia N70 DOES. The BlueAngel DOES NOT.
You don't have to flash the phone with the Network Ops variant, just enter the network settings and it will work that way.
I live in Canada and have a Fido SIM card. When Rogers and Fido merged, the old Fido network ID (302-370) was made defunct so that the only GSM network available is the Rogers one (302-720).
As I am a Fido customer, it means that my Kaiser believes that it is always roaming as 302-370 is my home network and I can't use the roaming-based data rules to manage my data charges when I'm truly roaming.
Is there a way to add 302-720 as a "home network" as far as the Kaiser is concerned? Is this defined in the registry or in the ROM?
I am currently using the stock HTC ROM.
Thanks.
Its defined on the Sim card, just call Rogers and tell them what happened, and Im sure that they'll send you a new card with 302-720 as a home network.
Otherwise, I dont wanna be a Canadian Idiot! (LOL at Wierd Al for his song...)
Eh?
I've been in touch with both the regular customer service people and their "network people". They are either unable or unwilling to make that change for me. It is possible that they use the SIM's home network as a key to decide which back-end database they reference. Although they merged the two GSM networks, they still operate as two separate companies (apart from the price collusion, of course).
Yesterday, I even bought a new latest-generation SIM card to replace my ancient one thinking that it may fix the problem. No luck - it still uses the Fido network id.
So, as the SIM card is stuck the way it is, I need a way to override my Kaiser's opinion that the Rogers network is a roaming one.
I have a really similar problem, plus another one which might be related.
I am in the UK and on the "Three" network, they are mainly a 3G network and i'm not sure but they might not have 'any' 2G transmitters. So when I have 3G coverage there is no roaming icon and everything works fine.
If however I am in a 2G area and using their roaming partner (not sure who yet, possibly Orange) the GPRS will not work unless I go in and tell the phone to search for a network automatically then make a connection straight away. It says there is GPRS signal and connects but I can't actually transfer any data. The GSM standard phone calls and TXT messages work fine without doing that.
If anyone does have an answer on how to add additional home networks I would be gratefull to know too.
I have the same problem with Fido; however, when I put my SIM into a Samsung Jack flashed with Fido ROM, the roaming problem is gone. The Samsung Jack was from Rogers. This leads me to believe that the roaming is somehow set by the ROM.
I don't believe there is anyway you are going to be able to make the Rogers network not think you are a Rogers customer through a registry hack.
Maybe you can find a work around by using those dialing rules?
And the only real fix is to bite the bullet and switch over to a Rogers contract.
Switching over to Rogers will resolve the roaming issue and will finally be rid of the text from 18 for voicemail; however, I don't want to lose my old City Fido plan.
i also face same problem any solution guy's ?
I have a sprint note 8 and ive tried to follow the guides to flash unlocked firmware and keep getting sha256 error. I put my Verizon SIM card in and it works but it is always roaming and Verizon said I don't have a phone active on my account. I don't know if there is a way to fix it and I'm super frustrated trying to flash unlocked firmware trying to fix it any help would be appreciated.
If the phone has a clean IMEI it will work on T-Mobile, Metro PCS, AT&T, Verizon Prepaid (PagePlus) or any other GSM carrier in the US and worldwide, Phone will work on Roaming State , Make sure you add your Carrier APN for the Data settings.
Sounds like you are stuck in roaming state nothing you can do about it.. I bought the unlocked model cause I figure it's best to bout be carrier locked
What do you mean by roaming state?
Surely roaming state is when user roams onto a different network other than their own. Example, T Mobile customer travels to Spain and roams onto Mobistar Spanish cell network using his or her existing T Mobile sim card regardless of what the device is.
Perhaps that's how it works between the two USA cdma carriers? - the way you mentioned it.

So fp r short you are using sprints towers on Verizon's network is what I believe read below
roaming is a term used to describe the ability of phones to connect to the network of a different carrier, abroad or at home in order to offer users the same features they use while on their “home” network – making and receiving calls and text messages and surfing the web. Roaming is possible thanks to the international agreements carriers have with other carriers, in order to offer their wireless services in other regions of a country or of the world.
Hi guys, I have a note 8 and it is previously sim locked thru a carrier back in my country. I have used samkey to sim unlock my my phone and it work like a charm using other sim card from another carrier however my problem is I can't use 4G LTE data using a different network but I can use it to call and text. When using my original sim from my previously locked carrier I am able to use DATA 4G LTE. I have searched for solutions in the internet but no luck at all. Please help. Roaming charges are very expensive and I really need help as I use the mobile internet for navigation abroad. Thank you in advance guys!
Maybe try with the new sim in your phone to reset the network. Go to settings - general management - reset - reset network settings. This will also delete your wifi passwords and such though. But I had a problem with my phone (N950N) to use with a different sim in it, that it would only connect to 3g, I did this and finally got LTE working.

In Settings / Wireless & Networks / Dual SIM, see that only one SIM (you can choose which) can be 3G/4G
Hence one SIM will be on 3G or 4G, second SIM must be on 2G - but if your operator for that second SIM does not provide 2G you will not be able to use that SIM
In Settings / Wireless & Networks you can disable 4G and in Preferred Network type you can force GSM (2G) only - that way you can test which of the two SIM cards / operators provide/have 2G signal

In Dual SIM Settings you choose one which is 4G, the other will be 2G/3G
Cannot help you more, I have both SIMs 2G/3G/4G, hence no matter how I set, both work
Try playing yourself, test both SIMs one by one only, in one and the other slot, with various settings (4G enabled/disabled, Pref net 4G, 3G, 2G only)
Maybe you have problem with one of the SIM cards or one slot
