I cannot seem to find some apps within /system/app. For instance, in the application manager there is "T-Mobile My Account" but I cannot find the apk with root explorer. Is there a new method they used to install apps as to not be easily removed? Does anyone know the apk name or location?
Did you check in /data/app? Tmo My Account is in Google Play so maybe its preinstalled as a removable app?
Just use titanium backup to freeze or uninstall them. And, yes I'd say they're hidden.
Yeah, Titanium. But I realized I believe its in /system/priv-app..
Thanks that was the location.
Another issue, whenever the play store is installing or uninstalling an app, the spen double tap to open s memo does not work. I have to have about 15 seconds after google play has finished installing and app before s memo is launched. Anyone know why this is?
Hmm, that might be a new one lol, but I just tried it, letting the store update some apps, and for me the double tap does open memo, but it is delayed by several seconds. Not sure why but maybe it has something to do with the system being mounted or busy or something?

^^^^ well lookie there. I may just need to go into each piece of software and see if it can be removed. I ass-umed it couldn't as with this phone Facebook can't be uninstalled but only disabled.
Thanks!
If the Facebook app that came with the Note 8 can be uninstalled also please let me know how, it only give me the option to disable at the moment

You can only disable it. Or you can simply refuse to give it your login credentials, in which case, it can't really do anything.
Some apps are installed in the "system" partition and cannot be uninstalled. Some apps are installed by the Sprint store app and Samsung store app automatically, and those can be uninstalled
So from what I read the devs removed "service disabler" function. What it's mean? the new update make the app useless? There's a lot of piss off people.
But more important if the app is now useless to disable services, and of what I read on xda, people ask for service disabler apps, and bk was recommended, what can we use now?
Does the new update kill the "Theme Service Disabler with Tasker + bk" method?
Thanks
Service disable means you still can use the apps but some services like getting location or pushing notification will not be started, because you disabled.
But now, this option will be removed, not sure if they will release the apps to somewhere.

I assume this means you can't disable any new services. All that I disabled prior to the update are still disabled. If I had read the update I wouldn't have updated the app.
I only purchased this app last month because package Disabler pro stopped working.
I wonder if that's the reason my screen off discharge rate went from 0.5% per hour to a little over 1% per hour now?

Regarding the wording, it is disabling packages, not services. In the app, I could not find services.
I think, all is well and drama not appropriate, but they should have worded it a lot more in detail.
You can disable any app you want, what you can not do now, is disabling individual services within the targeted app
After this same thing happened with Easy Disabler and Package disabler pro on the N7, I have disabled auto updating for BK since I installed it.

How do you disable updating for just this app? I disabled updates when the note 7 debacle, but all updates in general got disabled, btw, my note 7 works just fine, as day one

Just go to the BK play store page and uncheck auto-update. You need to disable the updates for both BK and the plugin.
My Note 7 was working great too but Verizon finally disabled my service which seems like some sort of violation to me. It didn't seem worth fighting them over it though.
Can one not download a previous version apk the version number before the current one, ?

Thank you all for the answers.
So the devs publish this:
"Hello,
If you want to keep Service Disabler function, reinstall the old version of “BK Plugin 2” in the link below and turn off Google Play auto-update app. Thanks!"

Hopping in the next update the devs will upload the apk with service disabler function outside the play store.
Not sure if it's to do with BK or the January update. But my screen off discharge rate has doubled from 0.5% to 1 % per hour recently.

I'm so glad that I never enable auto update in the Play Store. I read every what's new note prior to updating. Since I haven't updated BK & Plug-in it still works fine just as before. I just can't click update all in the Play Store now since these 2 apps are always in queue to update.

Continue to launch 'BK Disabler' as you usually would.
See the attached screenshot as to why the software package was pulled.

Which menu within this app allows me to disable system apps that are now not allowed?
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
SO I hope this isn't a noob question but I noticed it forces you to agree for the KLMS license in order to use. Is this an issue?
Whats the story with the KLMS Agent licence and relation to KNOX?
PS: I am trying to disable services so OTA updates don't happen while I use the note 8 for a while before I decide if I want to root it. Obviously I don't want updates to happen and prevent future rooting. If there is a better way than BK disabler I am open to suggestions...
Thank you,
BK Disabler - Services Removal Explanation
@Limeybastard
Which menu within this app allows me to disable system apps that are now not allowed?
There appears to be confusion regarding the changes.
Allow me to explain.
(I've also attached a screenshot to illustrate what is missing in the newer versions.)
With earlier versions of BK Disabler, you could disable ANY Service AND still run the Application.
This would be useful if you didn't want a specific Service to run alongside the Application (e.g., You are investigating a battery drain related to Google Play and found 'AppMeasurementReceiver' Service to be the culprit. You could disable that Service but still run the Application).
With the new version of BK Disabler, you can no longer disable Services; only Applications.
The ability to disable Services WITHOUT root is a powerful option BUT can cause stability issues if used carelessly.
So you needn't worry as the new changes in BK Disabler shouldn't affect you.
I run N 7.1.1 and use Tasker & BK disabler for force stop theme services.
Adhell can't run with BK disabler so the qustion is does adhell will break the Tasker & BK disabler method?
I thought to uninstall BK and install Adhell and stop theme service with it, without "touch" the Tasker & BK disabler method.
Sould it be enough for theme to stick?
someone could guide how to disable theme service with adhell and tasker or another method?
Hopping someone could help with it.
Thank you all.

Try SABS, (its like adhell).
You need to put those apps in the "white list" and everything should be fine.

I don't think it is matter if it adhell or sabs.
the question is if it will break the Tasker & BK disabler method?
So if some one knows another way to disable theme services without BK I will appreciate it.
Thanks

You should try SABS, I am running BK disabler along with it without any problems.
Besides SABS allows you to disable different services including theme services.

If I may post my opionion on this.
SABS or Adhell uses Knox to disable ads/services. BK disabler seems a bit overkill, meaning it's useless if you already have SABS or Adhell.
If I were you, I would stick to what I'm used to and works, Adhell in your case and just get rid of BK disabler. Even better, give SABS a try, I can help you get a version that works great on my Note 8 Oreo and also help you set it up. I am using it for the past 3 months, I have to renew my Samsung license in a few days, haven't had a problem with the app. I block services, packages, ads and some tracking websites and it just works.
Also, doesn't matter what you read, sometimes it's better if you just try and see for yourself what it works best.
For me, SABS is a good enough reason not to root my phone, and I have rooted all my Samsung phones so far.

This is getting annoyingly painful now..
I don't need another company with my data and Google has been fine for years for device backups..
This thing is still trying to backup data at 2am in the morning with all options unticked .. then as it can't do it..it leaves a message saying there is not enough storage..
I mean..all I want to do is turn it off.. but Sammy in thier wisdom won't let me do this..
Anyone else tried and getting this message..
I know I can possiblity use package disabler to kill this pest..but which is the actual app that is trying to do it and what else may it affect..
I kinda don't want to root the phone just to do this as I want to keep it secure for banking and payments..
But dam.. it shouldn't be so hard..
As a note: there is plenty of storage as I don't use it Samsung cloud for anything..
It is Samsung Cloud app and you can prevent it from a: sync b: disable autobackup for various folders.

Yes, thanks..
Been doing that.. only had notes sync..
Turned it off and will see how it goes..
Unfortunately 2 days later and it's back..
As per screenshot.. 2am ET has tried to call home.
Now a few things that is pissing me off.
1: I am not stupid and have a good grasp of what to look for and what to turn off to stop this happening.
So why have Samsung made this an auto turn on feature?
I have turned the settings off.
They have not asked for permission to turn it back on.
2: Samsung should NOT be forcing users of thier phones to backup to thier cloud.
If Google gets slammed billions in Europe for data collection.. I got a feeling Samsung is opening themselves up to the like.
So now, I can only see three ways to handle this.
Root and delete the app.
Kinda don't want to do that
Freeze it.
Via package disabler
Use a firewall.
Kinda defeats the purpose of having Knox and Google scanning your apps..means you are going to have have another app running all the time.. and really I don't want to be forced into using the McAfee
Really, I am the only one that is suffering this?
This is stock..8.1.0
Unrooted
ET wanting to turn itself on and call home is just not right..
Edits: using package disabler to freeze it..seems to work as gone into settings and backup and it's giving me no package available..so that's a work around..
But should not be that hard..
Been driving me nuts too. Have resorted to Package Disabler also.
Which package are you guys disabling?
Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk
Sammy cloud..
