Samsung accessories specifically keyboard case and battery backpack - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Accessories

I haven't upgraded since my note 4 so I haven't been paying attention to when accessories come out. I'm wondering how long it takes or are we stuck with what Samsung is currently offering. I'm specifically interested in the keyboard cover and the battery backpack that I saw for the note 7. The keyboard cover seems to be available overseas but can't buy it so does it mean it's coming here. We're the accessories for the s8 or note 5 released immediately or did they come out gradually.

I ordered yesterday the Anker PowerCore Speed 10000 QC which seem to have pretty large capacity and is also very compact. Planning to use with the FosPower USB 3.1 (Gen 2) Type C to USB Charging Cable hoping that I will get some fast charging times.
I'm expecting to receive these tomorrow so I'll let you know

I ordered the case with the built in battery from China. Just got it today, pretty heavy and bulky but I prefer no wires attached to a battery in my pocket. It seems to be able to charge the phone once fully. The claim one and a half. We'll see. I just ordered the Korean keyboard case from ebay.

Nexus 5 Wireless charging dock?

Has anyone tried the 6 with the 5's charging dock? The one I have from LG works, but it's so small the phone is almost falling off it in order to charge. I was wondering if the one from the Play Store may fit its size better.
Shoot I meant to put this in Accessories, can a Mod please move it?
i tried the nexus 5 charger and had to mess around with the placing the phone for about 5 minutes to find the spot each time. i just gave up and returned it and bought a choe stadium and it connects and charges the phone without any problems. maybe my nexus charger was just defective though, idk.

I have the Google dock. The dock is small and the N6 back is curved which makes it unworkable. I got a Tmvel T2 which I like.
I have both the N5 dock and the N4 "orb."
The N5 dock is very finicky and it takes a while to find the sweet spot. It works, but not well.
The orb on the other hand, works great.
I have the n5 charger and unable to use it with a case on my phone. Anyone using a charger that works with a case on the device?
The T2 works with my Spigen hybrid.
I used the N5 wireless charger last night. It took about 30 seconds to find the sweet spot to get it to charge, but it charged just fine.
It's officially supported as per this:
Code:
To charge your phone or tablet, place the device on top the charger:
Nexus 4: One inch (25mm) below the center of the phone
Nexus 5 & Nexus 7 (2013): Center of the device
Nexus 6: 2.5 inches (64mm) from the bottom of the device
Honestly I'm really just sad that it doesn't do Quick Charge 2.0... but seeing as I only use the wireless charger over night, perhaps it isn't really an issue there.
This has been discussed a few times in other charging threads.
I had one and promptly returned it. It's not worth the hassle and finding the sweet spot is just too much of a hassle. I personally do not recommend it. Of course Google wants to sell you their products so it makes sense they list it...
I picked up a cheap round LG one from Amazon. I wish the pad was a LITTLE bigger, but its easily placed on the pad and starts charging as log as the top 1/3 of the device is over the edge.
Glad I didn't go with the Nexus Pad.
The 2012 n4 wireless dock is much easier to find the Sweet spot on the nexus 6 compared to the 2013 official nexus wireless charger. I have both, and the 2012 orb works better with the n6,.
If you want a qi charger for the n6, you are better to get a tylt vu or the itian a6 which is an obvious knockoff of the Tylt vu.

[Q] Decent 3000Mah+ portable pocket sized charger?

I used to carry around 1 or 2 spare batteries for my S4, which was great they are small and fitted in my pocket easily.
I have just bought the Anker Astro mini with 3200Mah. I thought this would be enough to fully charge the s6 edge, however it only charged it to 65%. It did get quite hot, so it cannot be too efficient.
It also says its lipstick sized, not that I own any lipstick (male) but It looks like a very big lipstick.
id like a charger that is around 3000mah that will hopefully charge as full as possible but that also fits easily on my pocket or wallet. I have seen plenty of wallet packs, but they are often too small capacity and would only likely charge to 30%.
Anyone come across some decent pocket sized portable chargers? small as possible with a capacity of at least 300mah
I've just ordered a qistone which is a portable wireless charger 4000mah. Its got a good £20 off at Amazon at the min.
From video reviews it look like could fit in your pocket easy, plus fact it's wireless means you don't need to carry cables around.
I will let you now as soon as I get it
I purchased this Amazon Basics powerbank, comes with a built in cable and can charge the device once entirely with a little juice left to spare. Super pocketable too.

I've had two (well, three, since my wife lost hers once - but I digress) Anker 2nd Gen Astro Minis for a little over a year, and they've never been a problem. Decent price at $13.00 for the black ones.

Do you find it fully charges your phone? do you have an s6? Think the capacity of the s6 edge is 2650 mah and the anker 2d Gen Astro is 3200MAH, so even with heat loss etc, I would have thought this should fully charge once. But mine only got to 65%. I have only tried it once, maybe it just needs a few charges before it works efficiently.

I have an S6 (Edge) and have not (in the two weeks I've had it) had to attempt a charge from zero or near-zero using the Astro.
It did recharge my S5 to about 85% from dead-flat though. I suspect it would do the same with the S6/S6 Edge.
Groupon Deals
If you search s6 in groupon for the next few days they have a 3800 mAh battery case for 30$! I just bought a black one I'll post a review once it arrives!
The solution....

Hi man,
I had the same problem of having a S4 with extra battery and now with S6 I need a pocket size battery to charge it.
I looked a lot around and I found this:
http://www.amazon.com/Energio-Porta...=UTF8&qid=1430707677&sr=1-4&keywords=3850+mah
It charges My S6 from 17% to 100%. and is pocket size.... And have built in cable!
Hope it helps.
Always had luck with the Anker powerbanks. But want my next one to be a quick charge 2.0 capable charger like the Aukey one, which is currently sold out on amazon.
I would suggest iWalk 6000mAh Ultra Slim Battery & small size
which charges Note Edge Fully & still has 20% remaining
It has built in Micro usb & Lightning wires 2amp out
and also a Usb out with 2.4amp
i have the 10000mAh its awesome

[Review] CHOETECH Qi Fast Charge Wireless Charger Stand

I was fortunate enough to get a chance to review and test drive this unit.
The product is solidly built, with rubber parts on the bottom that prevent the charge from moving once you place the phone on the unit. The LED bar gives you an "at a glance" update on the charging, btu may be an issue if its near your bedside. In a darkened room, it may be a minor distraction. I use this in an office setting so the led bar was not a distraction at all.
The fan built into the unit is silent. I did not even hear a whisper of it, and in fact, had to place my hand back there to see if I felt any circulation (I did--it really is quiet).
With my Galaxy Note 8, I have the OEM Samsung Military-grade rugged case Samsung Galaxy Note8 Rugged Military Grade Protective Cover with Kickstand, Black and this charged was able to charge the phone THROUGH IT! I took a photo to show this. On the Samsung Convertible Fast Charger, it would not reliably charge the phone through this case. I knew this beforehand that the Samsung would not charge the phone through this style case but I tried it anyway. The Choetech charger was successful in doing so.
This charger also charges my old school Moto Nexus 6 (photo attached). the back is curved on the Nexus 6 but the Choetech had no issues providing a secure and stable platform.
The product comes with a usb cable and operating instructions and in a minimalist design box. I am not a fan of fancy boxes because they add unnecessary cost to the products price, so I thank Choetech for continuing this trend on their products.
The unit charged the phone from 18% to full in under 3 hours. I had the screen on at times and I have the galaxy Note 8 in High Performance mode. The charge time is comparable to Samsung's Convertible Fast charger unit that I also have.
In closing, if you are looking for a simple, no-frills designed charger that competes with current industry leading fast wireless chargers, give the Choetech a serious look.

can't ever have enough photos...
How cool does it keep the phone while charging vs. a charging pad without a fan or USB-C charging?
Picked this up as well. Works just as well as the OEM Samsung one. Actually prefer this one because it has the fan. Short video on it here: https://youtu.be/WUoNYd3hjEs
The convertible wireless Sammy charger has a fan also.
As you know since you have it, the Choetech keeps the phone comfortable. The fan is not loud.
For the price, the Choetech is really a great alternative. Same consistent charging , fan...
I got this one from Choetech...

There's no fan, but my Note 4 doesn't seem to be any worse for that. I'll look to put up a full review once I've had a chance to use it with my Note 8.

Official Samsung Rugged Case - Works with Wireless Charging!

The one thing that kept me from buying the Samsung rugged case was the disclaimer that it doesn't work with wireless charging. I saw buried within another thread that it does work so I ran over to Best Buy to test it out. Took the case out of the package and used their display wireless charger to test. It works fine. I left it there longer than the youtube video guy, because sometimes it'll say it's charging initially, and then stop charging after a few seconds (longer than he let the phone sit for). I waited to see the actual increase in battery life. Then I made my way to the register with the phone still in the case and paid for it using Samsung Pay. Both worked perfectly. Thought I'd bring this into a separate thread for anyone who's on the fence.

Awesome, I just picked up with black one at Best Buy this morning. I am used to having the Otterbox Defender case on all my devices but figured I'd try a thinner case and I really like the look of this official Samsung case but I am worried about drops, even though it has this military drop protection. I stumbled across this short video of someone throwing the phone across the room so it should hold up fairly well.
VIDEO LINK
So what's your trick
First off i think samsung know more about the design of the case then a typical (i use that in air quotes) consumer.
I have TWO samsung convertible fast chargers and the military case from samsung.
I will admit i did not try the phone LAYING DOWN (and I cant test at the moment), but in portrait mode, the charging starts but pauses. Then starts, then pauses. This is standard behavior.
I'm not making this up, Ive literally sat watching it do this just to prove if it can work in my experience.. and it doesn't.
Now.. the Choetech charger I reviewed seems to charge the phone through the case. Perhaps the leather type materials on the samsung charger absorb more energy than just the plastic back on the Choetech.
So I THINK its possible to charge the phone in that style case but its not reliable with the samsung one.
Unless you can give me some pointers on Howe to place it, but then it becomes a chore/hassle.
My daily driver will be the alcantara case so this will be moot for me but its good discussion I nonetheless. :highfive:

This is a good point. The chargers on display at Best Buy were the original fast wireless charges (which I have at home) and not the new convertible style. Like I said I put the phone in the case and waited for the actual power to visually increase in both portrait and landscape modes before I went to the register. I'm currently at work and I have a cheap Qi charger that I got from Amazon (also no fabric material on it) and it works fine as well. No special positioning. (I know all about having to place the phone on the charger in just the right spot...and then wait....since I've used magnetic holders and had to figure a way around the metal plate within the case.)

My phone in the case would disconnect and reconnect over and over all night long, I noticed this and pulled the Samsung Rugged case off and the phone began charging like usual. I am using last years Fast charger, not this years so I am going to say it DOES NOT work properly with the Samsung Rugged case.
I've been using it for 2 days now with no issues. Maybe it's hit or miss and maybe that's why Samsung made the disclaimer.

I believe so and it's unfortunate. I went with this case in the hopes it works, so since it doesn't I'm going to return it to Best buy and get the OtterBox Defender since wireless charging won't work on these thick cases might as well have the most protection.
It does not work reliably. Period. Sammy made no problems letting this be known. If you want this style of case and protection, you cant have it all. That's why there are other cases that do work.
Again i have two of these convertible chargers and with the military case on the charging does not work. Pauses, starts, pauses, starts... this is going to be the case for the overwhelming majority. Is it possible that it may work for someone or a small number of people? Its possible but with ther disclaimers that it doesn't work already known, it makes no sense for someone to try to use the case on the charger...
NOW the CHOETECH wireless charger DOES work with the case. I have the charger and confirmed this. It takes not special placement.. just sit it there normally. Its 20 bucks so its a good alternative.
It does not work reliably and stops charging anytime it feels like it. I have tried it with the d slow chargers, fast chargers in both positions and with the new Convertible charger in both positions...all stock OEM Samsung chargers. It starts to work and then fails.
Interestingly, the update released today addressed both camera issues as well as "optimizing wireless charging" so maybe once we get that update things will improve.

Hi
With this Charger
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wireless-P...8931&sr=1-1&keywords=pulesen+wireless+charger
It also works for me with the Otterbox Defender in portrait mode, but you have to place it correct and you have to use the right power adapter, with the fast charge adapter from Sasmung (EP-TA20EBE) it doens't work but with the ETA-U90EWE from Samsung it works perfect (no fast charging, but this i don't need and want).
It doesn't take much to just take the phone out to charge
I know how convenient it is to charge your phone while it's in the case. However, it's not too much of a hassle to take it out just for a while to charge it. Since Samsung made the disclaimer, I would rather trust that they know what they are talking about and just take the phone out to charge. That way, you get a reliable charge and then put the case back on when it's done. Not a big deal.

Review: Zerolemon 5500mah Note 8 Battery Case

First, I did receive a review sample from ZeroLemon.
If you're looking for a slim solution, this is NOT your choice, if you're looking for massive amounts of additional power on the go without having to carry a cable and external battery, then this IS your solution.
As I'm sure everyone will mention, it's LARGE. Until battery tech gets smaller, you gotta cram that battery somewhere. It's pretty hefty as well. If you wanted with this battery pack, you could outlast everyone around you in a marathon Pokemon Go session, long flights of movies won't be a problem. It's not going to provide any screen protection if dropped, but it might give you some arm workouts as you use the phone.
It's brainless to use. Plug your Note 8 into the battery case. All the button passthru's worked fine and aligned up. You are still "capable" of using the fingerprint reader, expect a bit more "reach" to get there. The case itself doesn't block the camera at all. No ghosting of the case in your photos.
If I were designing this, I would have added a flipout kickstand so you could just sit and watch movies without having to hold the bulk.
Product Packaging:
Packaging is quite simple, it’s a white ziplock bag and a brown cardboard box. There isn’t much in terms of instructions, just a small flip out pamphlet that instructs you on how to plug in the battery and case.
The battery attaches to the Note 8 via the USB-C port on the phone. The battery attachment also charges through a USB-C female port, so there is no need to change chargers or cables that you are already using with the phone.
Battery Usage:
I charged the case for approximately 12 hours before initial use – as instructed on the white ziplock bag that it all comes in.
The battery/case:
It’s a simple TPU case. It has a matte texture that feels good in the hands and prevents slippage.
After testing the battery case with the camera flash, I found no issues.
There is no need to remove the phone from the attachment in order to transfer files to your computer – something that is not possible with another extended battery case I tried using prior to this one.
Charging:
The battery itself does not support fast charging from the battery to the Note 8, but it does allow for pass through quick charging of your phone if you connect the battery case to your Samsung fast charger.
Pros:
Good extended capacity
Power on/off button
Solid construction of battery and case
Pass-through quick charging
Data transfer pass-through
Worked first time. Living up to name ZeroLemon.
Case itself is grippy and comfortable
Cons:
No NFC
No QI charging
Recessed fingerprint reader
Noticeable increase in weight and thickness of the phone
Needs a flip out kickstand.
Interestingly, if you try to go to the product page its a page saying "Oops - We couldn't find that one"

Interesting that they make two of them now. I wonder how much thinner the 5500 will be compared to the 10000 one.
I saw that 5500 version a few weeks ago before the 10,000 mah one was listed and didn't like the way it looked. The 10,000mah one looks decent, I need to know if it will work with the Whitestone Dome though.
When you are charging this, does the phone and the case get charged in parallel? Or the phone first, then the case etc.
Also how long does it take to charge the case itself, with the phone in it?
Sent from my SM-N950F using Tapatalk
I like mine. It's a little smaller and the case is refreshed from older models I've used from ZL
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Well I went thru 2 10000 cases in 1 week and both failed. Then I bought this slim one. Worked great for 2 charges and then would not take charge from factory charger. Will only charge from pc. Contacted zerolemon and was told must be defective cable. Lol. Yet charges my phone properly. Zerolemon is garbage and I recommend everyone to stay away from it. Last 2 phones product has gone to worthless in less then 2 weeks.
All their 5500 seems to be is a rebranded knockoff of the ebay versions for about $20 more. The 10 000 version looks like there's. Bottom line, like the OP said. It's heavy, no wireless charging, no magnet, no nfc. Those three are a killer, I regret not waiting for mophie's more expensive alternative.
The Mophie one is only 2950mAh and can only charge the phone 50% of juice.
