Best USB - C Cable for Note 8 - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Heyy guys. Can anyone suggest some good USB type C cables (3rd Party) which supports Fast Charging for our Note 8?
Do include those which comply with USB Type-C standards/ are compliant cables and are USB IF Certified.
Also please tell me how much maximum current does our Note 8 supports with Adaptive Fast Charge (QC 2.0).

Fast Charging Cables

I wanted to start a thread directly related to cables that are confirmed "charging rapidly." There are a handful of posts around here that talk about usb A to C but I had a hard time finding cables that actually brought the message up on my phone. Lastly before I start the list I wanted to mention that I understand the Nexus 5X I usb 2.0 only but just due to a future proofing mentality I prefer 3.0 cables.
I will update this thread accordingly as more people post results of cables that do support fast charging. During the testing make sure you are using a charger that supports high amperage output. I am using the following charger that supports 3.0 amp output per port.
Cables Confirmed Charging Rapidly
USB Type C To USB Type A Cable, TechMatte® USB 3.0 (USB 3.1 Gen 1) Type C (USB-C) Charging Data Sync Cable - Does not follow usb spec. [edit] as of 11/18 customers that have purchased this cable can request a new-to-spec cable from Techmatte and they will ship a new one. I will review the new unit when it comes in.
PECHAM B32 USB 3.1 Type C Male to Type A USB 3.0 Male Cable - usb spec. unconfirmed
Google - USB Type-C to USB Standard-A Plug Cable - Does follow usb spec. (only usb 2.0)
USB Type C Cable, CHOETECH 3.3ft - Does not follow usb spec. (only usb 2.0)
Cables Confirmed Not Charging Rapidly
BuyCheapCables® 6Ft. USB 3.1 Type-C Male to Standard Type-A Male - usb spec. unconfirmed
Juiced Systems USB-C (USB Type-C) to USB 3.0 - Does not follow usb spec.
USB 3.1 Type C Cable, JOTO USB-C 3.1 Type-C Male to Standard USB 3.0 Type A Male Charging Cable - Does not follow usb spec.
Type C, iOrange-E™ 6.6 Ft (2M) Braided Cable with Reversible Connector - Does follow usb spec. (only usb 2.0)

Hi, I read a lot of fast charging cables...but did not noticed those..where is the techmatte confirmed? Tnx

I totally understand. I have been reading all of the reviews that he has been posting. I will update the OP with approved cables later today if possible.
FWIW, the Juiced Systems cable shows 'Charging Rapidly' for me...
FWIW, https://store.google.com/product/usb_type_c_to_usb_standard_a_plug_cable is back in stock.
iOrange-E cable shows rapid charge for me. Cost of cable has gone way up though though since I picked up mine. Probably not worth it.
I really hope this thread continues and gets more updates

I will do my best to keep it updated.
Here is the link to the Juiced cable I bought:
Juiced Systems USB-C
The charger is an iClever charger, don't have any details on it...
I have a Pecham branded A to C cable bought from Amazon for £6.59 so approx $10. Its well made, braided with metal housings for the connectors. Charging with this one shows Charging rapidly on the lockscreen.
I also have an A to C cable direct from the Google store £10 ($15) Also good quality but slimmer and much more flexible than the Pecham.
I only see Charging on the lockscreen using this one.
Despite the differences the Ampere app indicates a charge rate of Approx 1700mAH for both cables!
For these tests I used an Anker Powercore 20100 battery pack and an Anker 40W 5 port mains charger. charge rates were identical.

It is interesting that you were able to get this cable to register as charging rapidly. It is the exact same cable that I bought and returned and with a 3A charger it did not register as charging rapidly on my phone. For right now I will leave this cable in the category that it is in until further confirmation. I wonder if it is a charger specific thing?

Up until tonight I didn't realize that charging rapidly does not show every time. I will dig into this further this week. I will also be adding the official OEM A to C cable from Google to the list.
I'm confused, I thought USB A to C can only suppose 2.4A max
You're using a charging brick that uses 3A output, does that mean .6A does not get used?

Ironically "fast charging cables" are just out-of-specification cables, so if you want them just pay $1 for cables on eBay.

The OEM Google cable display's fast charging and that is not out of spec. Really the purpose of this thread is to find cables that are actually following the USB spec and allowing the message "charging rapidly" to display on your phone. I understand that the max a cable that is to spec. will put out is 2.4A.

The OEM Google cable (USB-A to USB-C) does not fast charge when you plug it into a non-fast charging compatible source (such as a PC's USB ports).
Any USB-C cable should be capable of fast charging when plugged into an adapter rated for 3A current draw.
Cables that are not to spec will allow the phone to "charge rapidly" when it should not be charging rapidly.

It displays fast charging because C -> C allows for more amps to be drawn

I agree with that, but there are certain cables that still follow the A -> C spec and allow "charging rapidly" when paired with the proper charger. I know they won't be capable of the full 2.8A - 3.0A but they can allow a max of 2.4A, and that's something that is ok with me.

Help with chargers / cables

Hello,
So I just ordered a Nexus 5X. I am trying to figure out what the deal is with the issues with some USB C cable and what is the best option for aftermarket chargers.
Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems USB A to USB C cables are 2.4A max. USB C to USB C are 3A max. So the way to obtain the fastest charging possible is to have a 3A wall plug and a 3A capable USB C to USB C cable?
I am content with the OEM charger for the house, so I am mainly trying to figure out what to get for a charger for my car. Should I be looking for a 3 Amp car plug and a 3 Amp cable? Or am I looking for 2.4A / 2.4A? I am totally confused.
Also, I read somewhere that the Nexus 5X has a chip on the logic board that makes it fully compatible for Qualcomm Quickcharge 3.0, and that it may be available later on through an update. Anyone heard this? If so I may as well get Quickcharge 3.0 products.
If someone could please explain this whole USB C ordeal I would greatly appreciate it. Thank You!
EDIT:
I figured it all out. I ended up order the following:
Cable Matters 3.3ft USB to USB C Cable ( This will be my data / sync cable)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00S8GU2OC?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00
Cable Matters 3.3ft USB C to USB C Cable ( This will be for my car)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WAKL4TY?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00
Vinsic 3A USB C Car Charger (This has a USB C and a USB Port)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014F2NQ36?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00
The Cable Matters USB to USB C has been confirmed compliant by Benson Leung so I wont have to worry about it frying any USB ports on my computer. lol

Sounds like you got the info just right. What's important about A to C is the resistor used and that it meets specifications. If not it'll be asking a charger for 3.0A when it can't give it possibly leading to burning out the charger. For me, I got the Elegiant A to C cables (which are compliant) for older ports since C isn't as readily available. Good for old car chargers, old wall chargers, hotel rooms, shopping center charging stations, etc. C to C is necessary for full rapid charging so I'm waiting for a car charger and compact battery bank that support 3.0A type C.

Thank you for clarifying. I thought I had it right I just wanted to make sure.
Also, I came across a 3A car charger. I already ordered it. There were a couple reviews that stated it wouldn't run at 3A, but there were also reviews stating that it does run on 3A IF you use the USB C port only. (It has a USB and a USB C Port) So I am assuming the people who had issues were probably using the USB side.

I can't find the article I read that stated QC 3.0 (I think they were wrong anyways), but I did hop over to the iFixit Nexus 5X tear down page. I remembered that they always list the IC's on logic boards for their tear downs. Sure enough, the Nexus 5X has the Qualcomm SMB1358 Quick Charge 2.0 IC.

safe USB-C Compliant Cables/adapters [list]

Not all usb-c cables are created the same. Benson Leung at Google has reviewed numerous cables, and there are quite a few non-compliant cables. These cables can result in weird, or even dangerous behavior.
If you have a usb-c powered device I highly recommend using cables from the following list to save yourself trouble. All cables listed below have been reviewed, and are fully compliant with the USB-C standard.

How to test usb-c cables: Link
________________________________________________________________________________________________
I was looking for a Micro-B to USB-C Adapter and didn't know which one was safe, so I found the links I posted above.
I didn't create the websites or spreadsheets, they were based on the research of Benson Leung.
I don't know enough about the subject to be sure that the OP3 with usb-c 2.0 is safe, and while I'm not 100% sure if it's safe I make sure I use "safe" cables.
If you bought a usb-c cable or adapter, please test it and post the test results in the comments.
If you don't want to risk anything make sure you always use the original DashCharge cable + DashCharge charger!
WARNING on USB A to USB-C Cables
Some USB A to USB-C cables that you can buy on Amazon (and other sellers) claim that they support 3A charging, however be very careful of those cables as they may not conform to the USB Type C specification, setting the identification resistor such that it looks to the Type C device that it can support 3A charging while the Type-A connector on the other end and any device you plug into cannot possibly support 3A. Any A-C cable that you find that claims to support 3A charging may cause damage to legacy USB Hub, PCs, and chargers.
ONCE AGAIN: USB A to USB-C cables can only support max current of 2.4A at 5V.
Only use cables following the specification otherwise you can risk damage to your USB hub, USB ports on PC, or AC Charger if the phone is requesting to charge at a current of 3A and the charger cannot support it!"

"slow charging" is normal speed, I can go from 25 to 100 in an hour with the dash brick and a 6ft usb-C cable from the list
Is the SyncWire USB A to C cable compliant even though it's not on that list?
Can the Dash cable be USB C compliant when it can provide 5V 4A to the OP3 (more than the USB C standard of 5V 2.4A)?

Best USB - C Cable for Note 8

Hi guys, can we use 18w Power Delivery charging (USB type C to USB type C) on our Galaxy Note 9? As far as I know (read in GSMArena), Galaxy Note 9 only supports up to 15w charging.
Thanks

Yes, you can... but using usb type c it will not fast charge the N9 i.e the voltage stays at 5V and does not increase to 9V, although the current can go beyond the stock 1.67A.. close to 2A using some cables.
PD power adapters are the future due to universal compatibility. For example, I have one 60W PD power supply with an additional QC3.0 port; this allows me to charge my laptop at full stock speed and my N9 at full fast charge mode using the QC3.0 port.

Great! That means the PD will adapt to the N9's maximum voltage and current. I was just afraid it could mess up my N9. Thanks for the info!
