Hello,
I bought my Note 8 in Italy two weeks ago but today I noticed that the Iris scanner (as per manual, the uppermost right "lens") is a bit misaligned in its cutout.
You can see a (bad taken) photo here:

Is this normal? Should I return it?
Thank you
Depends, if it does not work as i should, return it, if it does, but you think it looks awful, also, return it

Is the iris scanner responsible also for face unlock? In that case this could explain why it works 5 out of 10 times.
If not, then I think it works as normal.
I think it bothers me more knowing it's not perfect rather than the sight of the sensor misaligned (also because, you can notice it only if you look very close).

Face unlock is crap reason why thw iphone fail.
The face unlock however uses the front camera

Mine is similar . Does not effect functionality though I noticed it on day 1.
Think the hole cut out is bigger than the lense (so it won't be blocking it)

Face unlock does not use iris scanner

Today I realised that the screen protector I just applied a few days ago has three holes for the sensors next to the front camera, instead of just two for the two sensors that are visible.
Does anybody know what the third one is about? I saw that it's also visible in the service manual as well as in this promo video: http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/phones/xperia-sp/specifications/#white
It's the proximity sensor.
Edit : sorry, I misunderstood... my bad. You have the light and proximity sensor but I don't know what the 3rd one is.

I think its (in order) camera, ambient light sensor (for autobrigness), proximity sensor 1, and proximity sensor 2 (like an Xperia Neo for example)
I checked my phone and it has 3 holes but it's hard to see because it's a black phone!

Somewere in the General or Q&A are the whitepapers being shared of this phone. Perhaps you can take a look at them to determine what the purpose is of that sensor?

Sorry, forgot to mention that it's the C5303.
Light sensor, Proximity Sensor, Proximity Switch

So it is, indeed, the light sensor.
Thanks!
I'm a bit confused about proximity sensor and switch. What's the difference between the two?
When I use the service menu to check (idiot me, could've done that to determine that the third one is the light sensor ) the proximity switch, holding something in front of any of the two will change the status to ON.
Hi, I recently had to send back my HTC One because of the camera having problem with purple/reddish tint. Just recently my camera is now having problems focusing and is incredibly blurry to the point where I cannot read "small text".
I just took this recently from my text book, the text is incredibly blurry.

Here's another one that is clear.
I have tried refocusing, but it just gets blurier.
Bump anyone? I heard people having problems similar, but nobody has posted photos. Should I just send this thing back again?
Try another camera app. It's look like a focusing problem. Try focusing touching the screen. In camera settings, choose macro or text mode.

Tried all of that :/ Here's an attempt in Camera Zoom FX, which I guess is supposedly the best camera app out there. Is it possible that there's a hardware problem making it unable to focus on text?

You get that problem only focusing on text? May be a hardware problem if not focusing everything ..

Yeah that's the weird part, maybe it's not focusing larger text (my previous picture on the whiteboard as an example) but since it's larger it's harder to notice. I'll just talk to the warranty and send it back again.
Hy. I have a big problem with my wife phone p20 pro. When i prepare or take photo in any camera app there are pink litle spots on screen that get bigger on zoom. And when i zoom it to max there are pink squares. The phone function amazing until 2 days ago. It is not burn screen. Only camera apps do so. Also the pink spot are visible in photo.

Try to reset all the camera settings and see if it helps, if not you could try factory resetting the entire device. If that doesn't help it 'might' be dead pixels on the sensor/sensors.

it may be the phone motherboard has failed.
Recommended to go after-sales service to ask for help.
Motherboard? I dont think so. This problem is only with camera app. Not on screen in any other app. Why motherboard. It seem mote like a sensor camera issue. The phone is 4 month old. That why i never renonce to samsung and go with Huawei. Chines alwais use cheap material and go for premium device.

Hi everyone!
The black rubber (adhesive) started coming off at the side of the screen of my p30 pro through normal use.
Is this just normal? Will this affect the "waterproofness" of my phone? And does anybody here has the same situation I have?

It's not really that big, I'm just a bit worried maybe this could no longer fully protect my phone from dust and water anymore.

I read it doesn't matter, the seal is much bigger on the inside.

Thankss... You lower my anxiety level
I wouldn't be happy with that if it was my device. These are flagship, expensive phones. Warranty job I think.

Yeah, it's quite disappointing. Maybe I'll just send my phone to the service center just to be sure.
Adhesive coming off the bottom of P30pro screen
Hi Tony,
Any update on what the folks at the service had to say on this. Becuase I too have a similar situation with a adhesive like portion coming out from the bottom of the screen.
Thanks
Same problem. Black rubber coming off the edge of Huawei p30
I bought Huawei p30 less than a month ago and the black rubber is coming off the edge.
It's screen cracked badly after it fell of the bed once.
Disappointed with its quality.
Any suggestions about what can be done?
Does anybody has problems with proximity sensor (Mi 9 Lite/CC9) during a call?
My phone doesn't block the screen when I approach it to my face. I also have a Redmi Note 7 and I don't have this problem with this phone.
I dialed *#*#6484#*#* and did the proximity sensor test and it passed. It's ok. Its shows the number 0 when I get close, and 5 otherwise.
My Note 7 has a dedicated setting for proximity sensor, but not on my Mi 9 Lite.
Is there something i can do to to fix it?
I have this problem as well... Not sure how to fix it though. There's a mod called disable sensors I've been thinking of playing with, for now I can really only talk on speakerphone. Pretty irritating.
to both of you a quick (maybe stupid) question , do you have any tempered glass? If yes, might the problem is there , i had the same with nillkin tempered , i had to reinstall it more then 5 times so it can fit in the correct place.

honestly i bought the phone with the screen protector already on it, so i can't be 100 percent sure, it's hard to tell once it's on, but if i had to guess i'd say it's probably tempered glass....most are these days. it looks like it's in the right spot though, idk...i can't imagine where else i would put it. you say you had to reinstall several times...what specifically ended up being the solution?

To put it in the right place, I did it with the case on (spigen) and put it from the bottom up, we're talking about 1-2 millimeters lower.

So your theory is that the protector has to leave the sensor, or at least part of it, uncovered? Interesting. I suppose it could be. Could you show me a picture of just the verytop of your device? I'd like to see how much space should you leave between the top of the protector in the top of the phone, I don't know where the sensor is exactly.
