So i downloaded the minimal text "dirty" icon pack and am trying to change my launcher pro icons.
The problem is that the icons are black and my phone uses cyanogenmod 7's gallery app to sort through the icon files...so the picture/icon background in gallery is black..and the icons are black...leaving me with a black on black and no idea what they are.
How is everyone getting around this? is there a way to change the black background in cyanogenmod 7's gallery app?!
Try selecting the icons through astro file manager

Trying that i ran into another problem. When i select change icon>custom icon, the default application is gallery. I tried settings>applications>manage>restore defaults for launcher pro and it does not seem to reset what i choose the icons with. when i try to reset defaults in gallery the button is grey so it doesn't register.
Also i tried uninstalling Launcher Pro and re-installing it. No dice.
Running maximus I'm pretty stock. I dislike all the different styled app icons and want them all in the same format. (Read all the same height, width and border radius.)
Using a home replacement doesn't change the drawer app icons so that's a no go. I have virtuous ten studio and all prerequisites installed.
So my question where do I change the rule that some themes apply to change the general look and if I totally change an app icon with vtstudio will this change still be applied after an update?
Regards
FYI I'm running Nova Prime and can confirm with 100% certainty that all icons get changed when you apply an icon pack. You can also change an apps icon individually on the home screens..

After updating Nova Launcher to its Material Design update, my wallpaper keeps changing automatically. I have checked the settings but nothing seems wrong. Does anyone know what's going on?
Edit: It was an app called Tapet that was randomizing wallpapers.

I do not have the app "Tapet" and this is still happening to me after I set my homescreen wallpaper. Sometimes the icons of my app also disappears when I change the size of the grid. Could anyone please provide a fix for this?
Dear,
Under MM, if you want to use Google Launcher instead of the welcome Huawei, or Huawei Launcher, download Launcher Google Now and go to applications, and parameters and finally advances parameters and application use by default, and pitch Google Apps, and enjoy the result.

Did you manage to get the App icons uncluttered like in stock android with Google now launcher?
I still have these ugly borders and backgrounds... Even if I use the purev3.hwt theme. It only works on huawei launcher..

I'm running Google Now Launcher, and no, I'm stuck with the hideous icons, too. As much as I like the customization option on the P8lite, it'd would've been nice to have the option to use default app icons (as in, the icons that apps show on their play store page).
Does everyone else has black background under the on-screen buttons and notification bar doesn't blend with the whole launcher? I mean app is not immersive (fullscreen)

Edit the OP than with the recommendation changed from Google Now launcher to Nova.
Nova is great especially if you want a really good stock android experience. Settings are limitless and probably one of the best launchers out there

I'm not the OP of the thread, merely another P8lite use who was using Google Now Launcher.
Anybody know how to set different launcher as default. EMUI doesnt seem to allow you to change default.

on android MM go to settings ->Apps ->advanced(the little gear bellow) -> default app settings-> launcher
Didn't see the solution
on my smartphone google launcher works without any problem, set as default. It need to be set manually in settings, but then it is fully working.

You can also use NOVA launcher. the icons there are the stock icons, without the ugly huawei borders ^^
Used Samsung's Themes to change Theme and Icons on TouchWiz Launcher (TWL). I installed Google Now Launcher (GNL) and noticed that it was used the themed icons, not stock Nougat, which kind of makes sense since I assume it does a full system icon overwrite, not just on the launcher. I found a good stock nougat pack and installed (all in Themes), but it didn't change GNL's icons. This also makes sense, since Themes should only work with TW Launcher. However, then why did the previous theme's icons appear in GNL?
When I change themes, it does not change icons in GNL, only TWL. I tried uninstalled GNL and changing themes/icons, then seeing if GNL would respond but it didn't. Any clue how I could get this to work? I've done a bit of force-closing, rebooting, app data clearing, but to no avail.
Alternatively, can someone recommend a flashable Nougat icon pack that will system-wide change the app icon?
Oh it looks like new apps are installed with the relevant icon. Wonder if I could clear the icon cache or something without dumping my entire cache.
Every Launcher have their own icons pack and these icons just for the default applications come with the rom instead of all the 3rd applications were installed into the rom. Samsung Theme just work with TW Launcher only, and if you have GNL been install on your device then find some Nougat icons pack for GNL on Play Store.
Example: I'm using Elegance UI Icons pack (on Play Store) for my Huawei Y6 with Theme engine and all work just fine here with all default icons look like Nougat icons.

GNL does not support icon theming, so the icons should not have been themed at all, but there were. Samsung does not follow Android standards and practices, there are many inherent issues to TouchWiz. One of them is in Theming. I found my exact issue and its resolution here. I just went into display and changed the rendered resolution then reverted it and my icons were changed. I'm not surprised that Samsung have not fixed it two version later.
