Should the Always on Display turn off when you phone the phone into your pocket or bag? Mine doesn't and it runs down the battery
Sent from my SM-N950U using XDA-Developers Legacy app

You have to enable that feature
Yes it does if you set up the phone to turn off when it detects its in a puncher or bag.
Look in your display settings. I have it set that way.

Yes but it's a setting you must turn on. The workflow is Settings>Display>Block accidental touches (this is what you want to turn on)

Wifi stays on during sleep

Hi all
My Wifi stays on during sleep even though in settings I have this option set to never.
Anyone else experienced this? And is there a way to make the Wifi go of when n7 is in sleep mode?
Thanks
Chris

Could use a battery saving app and see if it kills wifi

Thanks I might look at that, it's not a big issue was more curious to see if any one else's acts the same way.

Have you actually given it time to turn off? Not sure if it is 5 or 10 minutes but for me it eventually turns off.
EDIT: I am set to "Only when plugged in"
Or there is a build prop tweak that suspends it in sleep like pm.sleep_mode=0 or close to that

The N7 wifi stays active for several minutes after the unit goes to sleep - even if you have it set to be only on when plugged-in or off when sleeping.
This is a really stupid design so I use my wifi widget to just turn it off before putting the unit to sleep.
There's most likely a setting somewhere to tweak to get the wifi to turn off immediately when the tablet sleeps.
Yes, the built in wifi off at screen off sometimes takes minutes and sometimes never turns it off.
Green Power, Tasker, Settings Profile, etc, all market apps will turn off wifi for you on screen off.
I use Tasker myself.

Active Notification inconsistent

I don't know if others are having the same problem but I have a stock phone not rooted and active notifications enabled
Every time I place my phone upside down and then a few seconds later turn it over it will show the time..no problem...everytime
On the other hand if I leave my phone aside faced up ..after the screen goes black I would say 8 times out of 10 the clock shows up when I pick up the phone.. I'm assuming the sensors know that the phone has been picked up a d activate the clock display....sometimes the screen remains black even after picking it up and giving it a gentle or hard shake.....bug ?

I too am experiencing this especially when there are no notifications which seems like a waste to me.
Can you guys check your sensors? Maybe something's broken. I'm having sensor issues myself, and have noticed inconsistent notification behavior as well.

I don't turn my phone upside down. But just sitting there face up it it completely and randomly light up the notifications

That's normal behavior.

Gear not always waking up

Despite having movement turned on in galaxy gear manager, I can't get mine to respomd to wrist turns or screen taps after awhile, only the side button.
Anyone else have this issue?
same here, sometimes the gesture isn't detected i think. rotating you wrist down and back up again usually works for me though

Yep, I have the same problem.
However a simple wrist movement to look at the watch's face turns on the illumination for my Casio Protrek. It detects the same angle/movement and works flawlessly.
Required two moves of the wrist. First up and then turn

Getting irritating with not auto turning on. I just discovered if I do a slowwwwww twist it does turn on. try that.
This isreally my only big complaint

Night clock glitch? S6 Edge

Hey so my night clock is set but doesn't activate unless I reach over and swipe the edge. Which defeats the purpose. Then it turns on and stays on but will not just turn on at the set time by itself. Am I missing something or is it just a random glitch?
Thanks ya'll

I have not had that problem, so it does sound like a random glitch. It should just be coming on. Are you completely stock?

Yes
Yes it is.
I'm going to try turning it off and turning it back on tonight before the set time and seeing if that works but not hopeful on that

OK. The only other thing I would mention, is the clock won't show automatically unless you swipe, when the battery is low - I believe at 15%. Do you have any power saving modes on by chance?
Sent from my SM-G925V using XDA Free mobile app
I believe so
I can't remember my settings on that. I'll have to double check but my battery is never that low when I'm sleeping. In fact, a lot of the time it's plugged in.

Sometimes Tasker not working when the screen is off on my OnePlus One

I have time triggered profiles which are working fine every time. For example set the wifi on at the morning.
I have profiles from the Tasker wiki to tun on wifi when I am at home, however if my screen is off for a longer time they are not working. So I turn on the screen and after that I see that my wifi is turning on if I am at home.
So this misbehaving is related to offscreen state for sure.
I have CM13 on my OnePlus One.
I have the same problem. it seems the system goes into deep sleep and cannot scan or connect to Wi-Fi from it, although Tasker does turn Wi-Fi on.
I tried to work around by making it vibrate 1 seconds before turning on Wi-Fi, but it's still not very reliable....
Any suggestions?

Turn the screen on for a second and turn it off again.
If Tasker can't do it by itself, the Secure Settings plugin can do it.

so there is no other way than to turn the screen on? I don't really want to do this, since the phone might accidentally do something when this happens and it is the pocket

Exclude Tasker from any battery saving feature of your phone.

If it's locked, it probably won't do anything.

it is already 'not optimized', the only thing left is the integrated power saving feature of Tasker itself, but I want to keep it as it is.
The phone is not locked, so when the screen is on, it might accidentally do something in the pocket.
In terminal emulator, type this:
su
dumpsys deviceidle whitelist +net.dinglisch.android.taskerm
Should be good to go... [emoji6]
Edit: fixed package name for Tasker

may I ask what this does? excluding tasker from battery optimization isn't the same thing?
It adds Tasker to the list of apps excluded from Doze... I believe "optimized" refers to App Standby...which is different from Doze.

I have a task at "device boot" dumpsys deviceidle disable shell command. This completely disables doze. I added a led notification to the profile which contexts become true if am at home. One of the context is cell near GSM but this profile doesn't switch to active if I arrive at home and my screen is turned off. Once I turn my screen on it starts to work.
What could be the problem?

There is an option in Tasker which turn on the screen when performing cell near checks, I have enabled it now it is working perfectly but I would more happy if I wouldn't have to enable that option because of battery usage.
