My plan was to use my phone as a basic photo station.
So we got the Note 8, Dex Dock and the Gear 360 (2017).
Plugged it into the DEX and CRAP! Gear 360 says not working with DEX....
Anyone have a clue around this or an idea if there maybe a future upgrade to the 360 Software to work with DEX?
I have the Dex and Gear 360, but never tried to connect one to the other.
If you search around, you may be able to find a way to force the app to work in Dex. I had trouble with Teamviewer not wanting to load at all, and now it does. I wish I could point you to specific threads/apps, but I'm at work
Samsung support said it does not work. Ahhhh Crap.

Anybody have a good mirroring suggestion? Got used to SideSync on my S5 and haven't found anything that works for the Pure. Don't even really care if i can control the phone through the PC just mirroring would be good enough. Tried everything from Teamviewer to AirDroid, nothing works. Thanks
Just to be clear you want to see and maybe control the phone from the computer. I use Vysor to do this. It is a Chrome extension and works nice for the couple of devices that I needed.
Thanks but was looking for a wireless route. I wonder if it's just a permissions thing and can somehow get Teamviewer to work? hmmm can't believe this is a hard thing to do now.
Vysor works with adb wifi.
BBQScreen I think it's faster...
I use Reflector 2 to cast my Android screen to my PC. For those of us that have to work with iOS, it works with that too.
does this work with smart TVs too?
I have a Sony Smart TV (non android - 2014 model). I am able to cast the screen of my Samsung Galaxy S5 to my Sony TV either directly through Screen Mirroring (natively supported by S5) or through my home network (to which my S5 as well as my Smart TV connect). This is again done natively without adding any 3rd party software or hardware.
I read on a Reddit page of users using the PS4 Controller as a game pad. I was able to pair the controller with my S7 Edge no problem but when I put on my VR and fire up a game, it does nothing and on same games says I must plug in a game pad.
Is it possible or do I need to buy a separate game pad?
I just got my VR tonight so I'm still playing around with it. I'd rather not drop $30 on a controller if I don't have to because I know it'll be short time before I get bored with using it and then have a controller I'll never use again lol.
Thanks guys.

Won't work with gear vr for some reason. Read back in December and maybe even when Galaxy s7 first came out in early March. But ever since a firmware update it won't stick or work with gear vr. Not sure with a rooted phone thou. I have a tmobile galaxy s7 edge , was just able to root yesterday. Gonna try later today. There is a guide on wololo.net a gaming hack side that has a way to use the ps4 , DS4 controller with ps4 remote play to your phone. Wondering if that works around will make it work with vr.
Thanks for the response, I appreciate it. That's unfortunate, I don't want to buy a separate controller but there looks like a few really neat game on there.
Let me know what you find out if you can.
I use the GameSir G3s Bluetooth Wireless Controller. It feels just like holding a PS controller, analog sticks located in the same places, works great with Samsung Gear VR and it's less than $30. I purchased mine from Amazon Prime, but make sure to read the reviews on how to pair it to your phone if you choose this route. That is honestly the only thing people have been complaining about, but if you read the reviews a lot of people give directions on how to properly pair it up without any problems.
sure it has function! install the app sixaxis with your rootet device and than set your bluetooth adress on ya ps4 controller on the PC with sixaxis pair tool to the same like your phone. in my case its perfekt
I know this is ancient but i use ps4 controller on vr. Like above says, use sixaxis app if ur rooted, get sixaxis pair tool on pc, i unplug power from ps4 and reset controller so unpair/wont turn on ps4. Plug controller n2 pc, open sixaxis tool type in bluetooth address displayed on sixaxis app on phone, change input method to sixaxis default, turn on sixaxis in app, turn controler on, make sure Bluetooth is on and if asked pair it with controller and done. I also habe used an app called vr controller. Install on phone and other phone or tablet, open in both, choose use as controller for whichever one u want to use as one and the other option for the other and pair bluetooth. Also need to change input method by first enabling it and then using it as default. Change back when done or u wont have a keyboard.
Xbox 1 wireless controller (white) works
I just got a xbox1 wireless controller works right out of the box!! With my stock s7 edge and gear vr 2016.
I was able to control the oculus launch page and play minecraft vr flawlessly! Hope this helps!
Hey Guys,
I've been using a 256GB Exynos Note 8 as my first ever Samsung Smartphone for almost a year now, and I've been really loving the extremely versatile featureset it packs. It has hands down been the most useful Smartphone I've ever had after over half a decade of jailbroken iPhones and just switching to Android on a OnePlus One back in 2014. So much so, I've literally been using it as a Pocket PC for most of my computing needs, relying less and less on my Surface Pro 2.
However, there has been one pet peve that just keeps getting in the way of me enjoying my Note 8 to the fullest; whenever I try to miracast Netflix running on my Note 8 to my Microsoft Wireless Display Adaptor connected to a big screen (be it in my living room, bed room, or a hotel room), I only get audio and subtitles, no video Everything else -- including presentations, games and YouTube -- stream smoothly and very reliably from my Note 8 to whatever big screen I want, way better than even my Surface Pro 2 (1st party hardware). However, I just can't get Netflix to stream over miracast from my Note 8. Oddly enough, it works from my Surface Pro 2 with the latest Netflix app from the Microsoft Store.
Any genius out there have some suggestions on how to get Netflix working over miracast? I don't want them chromecast as they require their own internet connection instead of simply functioning via WiFi direct. Thanks in advance.
Try loading Netflix, then only starting the miracast?
Are you plugging this adapter into a TV at a hotel etc? Or is it your home TV?
The casting is something Samsung needs to fix its quite fiddly. If I'm casting to a TV I use Smart Things.
I think you should be running the app you're trying to cast from first. Then when you click the option it should recognise your MWDA.
I used to use my Surface Tablet to cast Netflix and it was a nuisance, so I gave up and plugged it directly into the TV and used a Bluetooth mouse.

Sorry for the very late feedback, for some reason never saw a notification in the XDA Labs app despite responses to my thread.
I just attempted this but all it does is still show a black screen with audio over Miracast, while the video appears on my Note 8's screen.

I tried it both at a camp/hotel and at home. Doesn't matter which TV I'm plugging it into, it's still the same end result; my Note 8 reliably connects over Miracast to it, but Netflix refuses to display.

Hmm, isn't that using Chromecast though? My Wireless Display Adapter doesn't show up when I attempt to add a device in SmartThings.

I attempted that, and as stated above, still the same end result.
Any other suggestions on getting Netflix to work over Miracast? Thanks in advance.
BUMP
The problem might be the MWDA. I never used one, I used a 3rd party display port to HDMI cable when connecting my Surface to a TV.
I cast apps from my Note 8 to my TV using Smartthings app. Or if you click the button which says 'button order' for your notification shade, there should be one that says 'smart view' I have successfully cast Netflix on my phone to my TV this way.

The MWDA works perfect and reliably for ANYTHING else, besides Netflix. SmartThings is casting via Chromecast in your Smart TV, that's why it works with Netflix.

That's exactly how I cast from my Note 8's screen to the MWDA, again, it works reliably with everything else but Netflix. The difference is it's using the Miracast protocol in the case of my MWDA, whereas the one to your Smart TV is using the Chromecast protocol (SmartView supports both).
Anyone else have any suggestions on getting Netflix to work over Miracast?

Hey guys,
So I have a 2011 Samsung Smart TV in my living room. Since it's quite old it doesn't fully support screen mirroring unless it's done via a HDMI cable. I say fully because Smart View works with certain Samsung apps like the Gallery, Music & Video player but it won't do the actual screen mirroring of my entire phone screen. Seeing how we got wireless DeX with the OneUI 2.5 update, I'd like to enable my TV to work with screen mirroring and wireless DeX. Has anyone bought the AnyCast M9 Plus dongle & used screen mirroring with it? What's the experience with it? I won't play games but will mostly use wireless DeX to watch online videos via the browser. Any input is really appreciated Thinking of buying the AnyCast M9 Plus but would be nice to hear how it works from someone who has it and uses or has had and used it.
I bought a used Gear VR for cheap and was going to use my old S8 to run it. After much searching and checking I know I have followed the directions for initial setup correctly, but nothing I did caused the headset to install or activate the Oculus app. I at first thought maybe it had something to do with the phone, but using the iVRy installer from steam I was able to successfully install the Oculus for Gear VR app and pair the Gear VR remote control. Yet plugging in the phone to the headset does nothing. I tried fiddling with the apps (force stopping apps, reinstalling, etc...) and trying cleaning the phone connector, but I think a major clue is that with the phone in the headset and a power cable plugged into the aux type c connector on the headset it doesn't charge the phone... so I assume I'm just not getting a connection with the headset at all.
So I guess my question is (1) does anyone have a better theory and (2) does anyone have tips to repair this issue?
Update: I was able to try my S8 in another headset that was a year newer than the one I bought. It also was not recognized by the phone, so it does seem to be the phone that is the problem. I'll post what version of android and of the Oculus for Gear VR app I'm using a bit later when I can take the time. Just to have here as data points. Maybe it's the phones USB C port pins?
I have same problem, I have note 9 and gearvr sm-r325 and I can't connect
