I have a Galaxy A5 that I just purchased, and wrongly assumed that the Gear VR would work off the shelf with it. LOL.
I have an S8+ on the way, because I want to develop apps for the Gear VR. The A5 handles cardboard VR just fine. When I try to pair it with the Gear VR controller, it just does not do anything. I figured it was blocked by Samsung on the A5, so I got my Kindle Fire out, tried to pair it with the controller, and it had no problem pairing.
I see that some people changed the label of the type of phone that is being used to install Gear APK files. I am guessing that the program that checks the phone version would be the same program, but I'm not sure. So, does anyone have any idea what service may be blocking the A5 from pairing with the controller? I want to stop the service if it is only to stop stuff like this.
When I touch the icon for the bluetooth controller, these programs process:
AR6K Async
com.sec.spp.push:RemoteDlcProcess
com.samsung.android.providers.context
com.samsung.android.app.watchmanagerstub
servicemanager
cfinteractive
ion_nonconfig
irq/570-SSP_Int
irq/5-bt532_ts_
There are others, but I think it might be one one of these, if anyone has any idea of what any of these do.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, I'm attempting to connect my Wii remote to my phone, unfortunately when I attempt to connect to my phone it requests a passcode. Is there a way to mood the bluetooth app or a way to fix/bypass this?
The quieter you are, the more you hear.
Apparently they just released a non samsung gear manager exclusively for the S2. I can confirm that it doesnt work for me with the Gear one. I hoped they accidentally left some Gear 1 support in there, but no. It doesnt work. Then again, nothing samsung works on the Oneplus Two, so YMMV. Maybe it works for you guys.

Guys, I do not have a Gear VR but I use a developer board with the same sensors.
After flashing Oculus DK1 firmware onto the board I can play Gear VR stuff in developer mode. Works great.
Yesterday I was messing about and as I mis the touchpad input sometimes I need to take my Phone out of the VR unit. (Zeiss VR ONE)
To my amazement head tracking was still working without the developer board plugged into my S6 Edge. (Sideload youtube VR app)
I went back into Oculus home and headtracking was still working! tested some apps and all of them now work without the GEAR VR sensores in Developer mode!
So if you have a samsung but no gear VR you can still play all gear VR stuff! Have fun with it!

Hi I just got my old galaxy gear S1 sm-v700 out of the drawer after 18 months, reset it and then paired with my galaxy s6 edge. All looking good until I looked for apps....
Where have they all gone?! Clicking on galaxy apps store via the galaxy gear app brings up just a dozen or so apps, there used to be hundreds!
So I then thought I'd try pairing the watch with my bluetooth headset, only to find thats not happening either! Obviously I have bluetooth turned on for both watch and headset, but the visibility on watch is greyed out and wont let me turn it on, meaning my headset cant find it!
What happened, this used to be a fab watch, as it stands right now its just OK i guess.
I’m not sure if anyone else has tried this, but I own a small car dealership and constantly need to scan cars. I have flashed my galaxy to the null rom and have been using torque lite and pro with no issues. I recently bought a galaxy gear 2 neo and want to try and flash the null rom and make a duplicate watch with replaceable bands. At the moment I am having troubles because the partition layout is differant between the two watches. I am too new to the forum to add the YouTube video but after my 10 post probation I’ll post the video up. Anyone else scan cars with their watches?
