Accidently Hidden Magisk when I had done in Settings - root disabled - Magisk

Please help.
Accidently I hidden Magisk when I had done in Settings - root disabled.
After it got hidden, there was only 1 icon in Apps list - Unhide Magisk Manager, but clicking on it wasn't showing anything.
So I thought if I uninstall that everything would work.
But now after uninstalling that Unhide Magisk Manager, nothing is being shown.
I also tried installing the Magisk Manager again, but it gets installed but the Open button was disabled in installation successful screen.

Same here

In an adb shell (as root):
Code:
pm unhide com.topjohnwu.magisk
Or (no root required):
Code:
pm uninstall com.topjohnwu.magisk
And then reinstall the Manager.

Ran above commands.....Still no luck for me.

I ran into this same issue, but I cannot seem to fix. I have factory reset several times, used the code provided, I still cannot achieve root, and only 1 button in Magisk. Am I missing something?

hey, I can help you: command is from windows pc (power shell works awesomely): adb uninstall (& here you add the little code under the magisk app version on the start page of magisk) without ( ) ?!
magisk manager will successfully be uninstalled.
then, when the command succeeded simply reinstall magisk manager & everything's back again, magically!

SuperSu 2.67 missing icon in launcher

I installed SuperSu v2.67 on a Nexus 5 running stock Marshmallow 6.0.1, and SuperSu works great for me so far!
The only (minor) issue I've encountered thus far is that the SuperSu icon seems to be missing from the Google Now launcher home screen and app drawer.
I can still launch SuperSu by searching for it in the Google Play store and clicking "Open", and it still pops up when an unauthorized app is requesting root access.
I've tried to do a complete unroot + reinstall, change the SuperSu icon from the app's settings etc. - without success.
Has anyone else encountered this? Is there any way to get SuperSu icon to show up?
Thanks in advance.
Try this with your computer:
adb uninstall eu.chainfire.supersu
Reboot back into Android, then reboot into recovery and reflash, or extract the APK from the zip and "adb install" it.
Edit:
Correction! Found the icon. It was buried in the app drawer all along. What threw me off was that for some reason, when I write "SuperSu" or any prefix of the name in the search box at the top, it doesn't find SuperSu, like it does pretty much any other app. Weird.
Anyway, thanks for the help and sorry about the false alarm.

I'm having a similar problem as the OP except that 2.6.7 binaries don't install on a T-Mobile Note 4 (SM-910T3) in either Lollipop or Marshmallow using either the Normal or TWRP methods. 2.6.5 and 2.6.6 binaries install properly, however.
I tried the command in recovery and got the following error:
In other words, you have a completely different problem that isn't even vaguely related. Not enough info, wrong thread.
Also, adb uninstall doesn't work from recovery, only full Android.

You're right I didn't explain things right. My ROM comes preinstalled with SuperSU 2.6.6 and I have the same issue as the OP as the app doesn't appear in either app drawer and I can't launch it from the Play Store either. I'll try adb uninstall properly.
The 2.6.7 failed install is a separate issue. Do I start another thread here in the same forum? What info do you need?
Mate if adb shell not working then use this as i got same issues before anyway go to setting/application manger then roll down to find this
eu.chainfire.supersu
Then uninstall it & reboot then re install supersu app extracted from supersu zip it should work for u ok

module canstantly says 'Module will be updated at next reboot'

Hi,
Freshly installed Magisk today. I have tried to install the 'Sony Framework' module from (Seyaru Module by eric9401 work).
However as title it says 'Module will be updated at next reboot'. I can disable the module, but the option to delete using the trashcan doesn't work either. Has anyone else come across this with any tips to resolve?

Some modules require full uninstall and reboot before you update them (AML, for example). To fix this, you'll have to uninstall Magisk and reinstall it and the modules you want to use. Make sure you download the update and that it's in your magisk folder before you uninstall everything.

Or u can manually uninstall modules from twrp if u have magisk mount already flashed. And the u go to magisk directory and deleted individual modules. No need to uninstall/reinstall magisk.
This is how I fixed it. I had same trouble with AML

Dang.
Maybe good tip. My busybox had a red update mark but it was kind of working. Then i disabled modul, by doing i saw network sign (!) is gone so i "dicided" to full uninstall magisk.
Now my phone hang on bootlogo.
Not sure how to restore with flashfire backup i dumped. Maybe possible to push/install magisk manager via adb?
No twrp atm just stock recovery^^
Fixed by flashing magisk custom boot.img which was used to get root but now not able to install busybox modul :/
Switched to SuperSu busybox now working.

Help with nemid app

Hi
Could use some help getting this app to work.

Anyone can help??
Just hide the Manager.
https://www.didgeridoohan.com/magisk/MagiskHide#hn_Hiding_the_Magisk_Manager
Thanks. But unfortunately still not work
If I add the app to the Hide list and also have the Manager hidden it starts just fine without complaining about root. Could be your busybox installation that is causing issues. Uninstall it and use @osm0sis busybox from the Magisk Downloads instead. Magisk will take care of hiding that.
Thanks for your advise. Tried several options to remove busybox. No files in system/xbin, but busybox still fails in check. Any solutions?

Magisk NemID FIX
I have been able to hide magisk without removing the magisk manager app as a quick fix.
After the lastest update for nemid, they just searched for the app name (Magisk Manager) and then blocked you cause of root.
Steps for magisk manager to hide it from Nemid
1. Hide magisk manager under settings so it gets another package name.
2. Go to downloads under magisk manager and install the Xposed SDK 27 (for my version of OS 8.1) systemless module
3. Install Xposed installer to manage next step
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/material-design-xposed-installer-t3137758
4. Install Xprivacylua for lastest version of OS like mine
https://github.com/M66B/XPrivacyLua/blob/master/README.md
5. Reboot untill it says active under Xposed installer app.
Maybe flik the status setting in Xposed installer app and reboot again
6. If it says active you are golden. Go to modules in Xposed installer app and enable xprivacylua
8. Go to xprivacylua app and find nemid app and expand and enable the block app overview/list (mine is on Danish so don't know presisely what it's called)
9. Check nemid app
This method worked for me and hope it will help others too.

how to open Magisk after it's hidden?

I outsourced rooting my device. Now I need access to Magisk to change the settings for the monitoring software I need to install. How do I open the Magisk app after it's been hidden? TIA!!!
It's in your app drawer, named "Manager".

Just run the app "Magisk Manager" or "Manager" (with the Magisk icon) that is on your app drawer.
Don't you have it? Well, then you don't have a proper installation of Magisk, at least the Manager is lacking. Download it (the apk) and install. Then open it and see if everything is fine or not. Check main Magisk release thread for links.
Thank you so much for replying! Magisk Manager is not in my app drawer, but it *is* listed in the device settings as an installed app. I just can't figure out how to open it. I assumed that app had also been hidden somehow. Advice?
Whoever you outsourced it to have done something that's not standard. Ask them...

Yeah, that didn't work. So I'm again trying to DIY...
Your wonderful guide says:
Unhiding the Magisk Manager
Go to the Manager settings and choose "Restore Magisk Manager".
Click to collapse
But I can't do that because "Manager" is not in my app drawer.
You also have:
Starting MagiskHide manually
MagiskHide is enabled by default and should start automatically on boot. If it isn’t working, try toggling MagiskHide off and on in the Manager settings. If MagiskHide just won't start when toggling it in the Magisk Manager (check the Magisk log, it might have started but the Manager doesn't reflect it), try starting it manually. This can be done in a terminal emulator (as su) by executing the following command:
su
magiskhide --disable
magiskhide --enable
Click to collapse
So I downloaded a terminal emulator and ran this command, but got this error message: su: unrecognized option '--disable'
Any more tips before I lose more money? Should I just try and reinstall Magisk completely? Having watched the tech guy do it the first time, I'm not sure I'm completely up for the task. Would it be easier after it's already been successful? Should this be straightforward, or am I better off handing over my wallet?
THANK YOU so much!!!

I'm curious... What happens when you want to grant superuser access to an app? Do you get the prompt to accept or deny?
I'm also curious what Magisk version you actually have installed. What's the result if you run this command in the terminal emulator:

My first tip is to not trust your "tech" guy... From what you've described here it doesn't at all sound like he knows what he's doing.
Secondly, I would try to install the Manager and see what happens. Download the apk from here (that's the current version of Manager v7.2.0) and install that. If that works you're golden, if it doesn't report back...

So I downloaded and installed this apk. I think. All that's necessary to do that is just click on it while on the phone, right? It said it was updating my previously installed Magisk Manager, so I assume it worked. But both immediately and after a reset, there is still nothing new in the app drawer. It still shows in my phone settings->apps, but that's it.
I've attached a log from my results in the terminal emulator regarding magisk and magiskhide. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong.
What launcher do you have? Sounds like the guy just his it from showing up the app drawer?
Sent from my MI 6 using Tapatalk
I was about to kick myself if it was that easy. Just installed Nova to check, and still no Manager app.
So should I just try to reinstall Magisk completely? Do I need to uninstall first? Is it as simple as opening the .apk on the device?
Hi, I have the same problem, did you find a solution?

Magisk Manager shows "Modules" and "Superuser" grayed out

First, I hope this thread is in the right place and apologize if it is not.
I currently have the problem that the Magisk Manager shows the two categories "Superuser" and "Modules" grayed out at the bottom. In addition, it is also so that the settings of the manager is slimmed down (fewer functions than usual). For this I have 2 screenshots ready: (see attachment and sorry for the German language).
Root itself is still there though (the apps that ask for root still do).
But can imagine that this happened because of the Magisk Hide app. Because I had hid the manager under a different app name, then either accidentally deleted it or restored the original package (can't remember).
In any case, I have already tried to install the manager with an SD card with the TWRP (did not work) and to install Magisk Manager via the apps themselves (pressed install in the first screenshot). This has come the following error message:
Code:
- Target image: /dev/block/
- Device platform: arm64-v8a
- Installing: 24.1 (24100)
! Unable to check signature
! Installation failed
My current status is that this has already happened once with the manager - judging by the bug reports on Github. Can someone please explain me in simple steps how to get this fixed? Thanks!

No need to bump, your post was only 7 posts down, and only one bump is permitted every 24 hours.
The issue is clear from your screenshots. You don't have root. On the Magisk screen, at the top under the Magisk section, if "Installed" shows "N/A", you do not have working root. Magisk is unable to load modules without root.

Sorry, didn't know that.
But I don't quite understand. Why should I have no root if apps like Lucky Patcher, Vanced Manager ask for root and I can verify these requests with the manager?

I'm not sure. I think you can still manage root permissions if you don't have root but I'm not 100% on that.
I suggest re-rooting with the prescribed method for your device. On the Pixels, we just re-patch and flash the boot image.
i hace the same problem in sm a70, the apps request root acces and i press yes and work but if the same app need request more times for example unloking network , the request are send again and again and again
I just took the leap into Android 12 and we t through the process of patching the boot img and flashing it. I have the same issue as the op. I have patched, repatched, and flashed and reflashed at least 4 or 5 times now. No change.
Edit to note that I do in fact have root, regardless of what Magisk says (installed - N/A). Apps like AdAway have root access and are working properly.
I had the same problem on my (very) old J7 (2015).
Am on android 7, and was trying to update Magisk from v24.3 to v25.1
I had to completely remove Magisk, and restarted from scratch.
Flashed the v25.1 apk in TWRP.
Same problem with Magisk 52.2 on my LineageOS 19.1 (Android 12L) installed on GT-N8000 (Samsung Note 10.1). I already tried re-root, re-flash, re-install apk and nothing!

Not sure what to say about no uninstall but i guarantee that you have a double install. Look through your apps. Did you ever hide magisk with a different name, you've got to remember that at some time you did.

I removed the Magisk via TWRP by flashing it with the uninstall.zip file. After installing the Magisk via flash with the Magisk.zip file and rebooting the tablet, I patched my boot.img, went back to TWRP, flashed the boot.img selecting the boot option and rebooted. I went back to the Magisk app and the same problem. I checked via
Code:
adb shell pm list packages | grep magisk
and it returns only
Code:
package:com.topjohnwu.magisk
it suggests I have only 1 app installed (none hidden).
