Silver HTC One for AT&T; bootloader unlocked, rooted, s-on
I tried to flash a 4.1.2 ROM on the phone earlier today through CWM. No errors were given during the process. After the phone restarted the touch screen is now disabled. All three hardware keys seem to be working fine (power, v-up, v-down). Since the touchscreen is not working I cannot get past the initial lock screen. If I try and restart the phone by holding power it takes a long time >5 minutes of holding down power, "To restart your phone continue to press and hold power for 3, 2, 1, comes up and then stays at 1 for a long time.
If I connect the phone to my mac android file transfer opens up and I can see the files on the phone. However, if I try to find the device using 'adb devices' the list of attached devices is empty.
I would like to put a different ROM on and then flash that but because I am unable to do a power down (only restart after a long time) or use adb to re-boot into fastboot or recovery I am stuck.
Anything you guys could give me to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
also I installed HTC sync manager and it launches after the device is attached, but does not indicate that my device is attached.
Thanks!
You need a 4.3 based ROM. Push via ADB and install via cwm or adb sideload

But wouldnt I need adb to recognize my device? At the moment I cannot even get it to show up in devices when it is connected.

Just copy the 4.3 rom via the file manager, then restart with however long it takes. While restarting, keep the vol-down button pressed. You'll reboot to bootloader. From there, go to recovery and select your 4.3 rom.

Can you elaborate on the OTG cable? It may be my best option at the moment because I cannot get the phone to reboot at all let alone into recovery. I tried to restart while holding down power and vol-down (like n1234d said) for about 20 minutes and the phone did not restart.
You could use an OTG cable and a USB drive to get the ROM onto the phone inside recovery. Unfortunately, you still need to reboot to recovery. If the phone can't reboot, I'm not sure what to do.

Just hold the power button and power it off....
then try to get in recovery from bootloader....
the phone wont get recognized via adb if not in recovery mode cause the USB debugging would be turned off....
the phone WILL power off if you keep the power button pressed for 20-30 seconds and should reboot.

Thanks, but for whatever reason it took holding down the power button for 40 minutes.

Thanks for you suggestions, as I mentioned above I got the phone to reboot into recovery after holding down power for an insanely long time. From there I was able to use adb to get everything sorted out.
So my problem is resolved, how do I close/delete this thread? Thanks for all your suggestions.

I'm pretty sure you unknowingly kept leaving the power/volume buttons because of which the phone finally rebooted when you got it right

Hello, I've recently just got this phone off someone to fix for them. It's in the constant bootloop. I can get into the bootloader, which is locked and has S-ON. However, if I try to navigate down it restarts as soon as it highlights recovery. If I navigate up, it will open up the show barcode, and exit out of it and sometimes highlight the image crc and attempt to display it. It restarts however very soon after. This phone has not been rooted or has been flashed at all.
Stuck of ideas at the minute on what to do to fix this guys phone, I don't believe he has warrenty on it either .
Any help would much be appreciated! Want to try and get this fixed.

That's the first option i'm able to get to at the top, I press the power button to select it however it just resets the phone. I presume this isn't suppose to happen and the fastboot hasn't work?
Wait, sorry. If I press Vol Up, then Vol down again, it auto selects it. However, I can't select the options in the new menu.
Sorry again, it also doesn't seem to have a fastbootUSB mode? Unless it does that when it restarts?

when you select fastboot, plug it into the computer, it should now say fastboot USB on the screen, if you cant get fastboot, you cant fix it, its knackered.

Bugger. I'll mess with it a bit more in hopes of reviving it. Cheers for the help though
If "fastboot" turns to "fastbootUSB" you will probably be OK. Try entering RUU mode from fastboot with the command "fastboot oem rebootRUU" If you get this far you will just need to apply a full RUU image, which will reinstall everything, including the boot loader itself.

I can't seem to get to that, the phone restarts itself pretty much around 5-7 seconds being in the bootloader itself.
The only other reason i can imagine this happening is maybe because the battery is knackered.

Good point, the power button does seem a bit further in this one, than I have seen in other M7s. This may sound silly, but it clicks when I push it down, but have no idea how to properly bring it up.

unfortunately, i have no idea how to fix the button, but if your phone is behaving as if it's being continually pressed that would explain the reboots.
to verify, just enter bootloader, don't do anything (but be in a well lit environment), if it reboots again and again, then the power button is stuck.

Yep, I'll see about trying to fix the power button then. Here's hoping!
Also, sorry. I should've added in the op that it only turns on when it's plugged into something. If i unplugged it while it's on the htc screen or bootloader, it will stay on till it does the usual reset then stay off.
If the power button is clicking I doubt it is stuck.

When the Device restarts while you're on the HTC Boot Screen, do the LED Buttons down at the bottom flash up a couple of times prior to the reset? If so, that would be conclusive with the stuck Power Button as that is (afaik) the normal behavior for a reset by pressing and holding Power.

This is correct. A hard power down will flash the home and back keys before turning off.

I've seemed to have someone fixed the phone now, it's getting into Android (after much stress trying to get it into it!). It does seem like it's the power button that is sticky, as it's locking the screen and constantly waking it up and bringing the power button menu up. Needless to say, i'm overjoyed that it's working. Now I need to find out how to fix the power button in it.

That might actually not be quite the easiest task. If anything else fails, why not try bringing it as close to stock und untempered as you can go and hand it in for a warranty repair. With a little bit of luck they will not check the software as it is obviously a hardware button defect.
Hello all,
I haven't touched my M7 in about 6 months but I figure it's time I try to fix it. Here are the following symptoms of my problem: it won't boot past the splash screen, it won't boot into recovery, and it doesn't like powering up unless it's plugged into a wall socket.
Is there any way I can RUU this or force it into fastboot or recovery?
press vol down + power button to enter bootloader and then choose fastboot
Sorry should have specified that I already tried that.
Is it unlocked or not? Does it have stock or custom recovery?

Sorry, seems I left out quite a bit. Was up late messing with it to see if I could get anything done and it was probably due to lack of sleep.
I believe it was after I had tried to RUU. Unforunately I don't remember with which .zip file, but I'm going to assume I didn't screw that up as I've had to RUU quite a few times and hadn't messed that up just yet.

Long story short. was flashing roms/mods on a spare Nexus 6 of mine and ended up in a bootloop. Now i'd NORMALLY just boot into recovery/fastboot and fix it or restore a backup but that is where i'm running into my fabolous problem of mine. The volume down button is broke so you can't push it in and or hold it. So what i'm wanting to know is if anyone knows a workaround for booting into recovery or fastboot so i can restore this phone. ANY suggestions are welcome. Thank you!

sure you can, that's an easy one. power your n6 off, then boot up with the power button + volume down pressed, this will boot you into the bootloader. the bootloader is the ONLY place that fastboot works. duh.. :silly:

Hello,
can anyone help me. My HTC phone m7 just had a count down and then shutdown for it self. It then began to reboot over and over and it never gets pass the HTC logo.
I tried:
1. going into the splash screen, but i reboots even when i do that. It happens so quickly i can't select fastboot, factory reset or anything.
2. Holding it close to a bring light and hard reset.
3. Waiting for 48 hours.
4. leaving the battery to drained and then hard reset.
I can't remove the battery. and when ever i put the phone to charge it keeps rebooting over and over.

If it's in bootloader mode it should be fine. In order to run the .exe file your phone must be in bootloader mode. You managed togo into bootloader, so there should be no problem. If that .exe doesn't solve your issue, than it's safe to say it's a hardware issue
