does software update work after flashing? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S6

I've flashed previously version 6 and stopped receiving updates after that. Now I purposely picked a broadband version that at&t supports and flashed my phone, but now I'm still now seeing software updates. I'm on stock 7, there should be 4 updates lined up.
Edit: Actually it was G920AUCS5DPJ1 and that's on the update list. So weird, it's been months and I never got any updates after G920AUCS5DPJ1 (6.0.1).
Update: You need an ACTIVE at&t sim card, either a plan or prepaid.

[Q] Have yet to receive AT&T S6 Edge software update

I have an AT&T Galaxy S6 Edge that I have been using on Cricket. I have never received the update that AT&T released earlier this month. There seems to be some confusion as to if you get those software updates on Cricket or not as I have gone through forum posts where some people have stated they have received updates for some devices and others say they have never received updates while using Cricket for AT&T devices. I did have them unlock my device so I could also use it on T-Mobile. Has anyone else had issues getting the update? Could it be related to my device being on Cricket or being unlocked? I have also tried putting an AT&T Go Phone sim (with active service in) and my device contacts the server and still doesn't see the update. I am not sure what else to try.
---
Never mind. With the Go Phone sim in, advancing the date a day, it allowed me to check again and then it found the update. Still think it is ridiculous that they won't let their own phones receive updates on Cricket.
I'm using an ATT sim, and have not received an update. I've advanced all the way through June to check for updates without success... as well as reinstalling via ODIN multiple times.

Update file will be live in like 30 minuetes . Just Wait
I had a phone that would not take an OTA not matter what I did, one of many defects i found with the phones i tested. You might have one of those in that back. The rest of the phones I have tested took OTA on first try.

same thing happened to me i just used the odin file. done

[Q] AT&T phone on T-Mobile?

Late last year I switched from AT&T to T-Mobile, taking my AT&T branded MotoX. I'm currently on 4.4.4 version 212.44.26.ghost_att.en.US, and just got the notice to update to AT&T's 5.1.
This is a stock phone, unlocked/unlockable bootloader, stock rom, etc. Should I go ahead with the AT&T update OTA (which popped up this morning, even though I'm on T-Mobile's network), or wait till T-Mobile comes out with their version and see if it'll load via Motorola's Device manager desktop app?
I'm using an unlocked att model with a T-Mobile SIM. The att update worked fine, zero issues. Apn settings were fine, data worked, everything.
Looks good...
...so far. Did the update, came up fine. no issues yet.

QD9 update

Anyone try to update their S8 to the day one update of QD9? I bought the Verizon version but using it on Tmobile through MintSim so my only option to update it is through the VZW Software Upgrade Assistance pos software. It sees and downloads the update fine. However, when it reboots the phone to the "Downloading...." screen, after a while I get a "Odin Protocol version error!" I rebooted the phone and tried again but to no avail.
*Edit* So, I just had to update the VZW software to the newest version and then that fixed it. The update went through fine. Lol
I've had my Verizon S8 since Friday and accepted the QD9 update later that evening. The only change I can tell is that the ability to legitimately remap the Bixby button has been removed. Sorry brother if that was your plan.
do you retry bxaction

For future updates you may want to use Samsung Smart Switch instead than VZW software. I have the s8 verizon version with a different company and wasnt able to update until i tried with this Samsung software and I find it easier and probably better than the VZW app.
The updated VZW software is nicer and worked fine. I'll look into the Samsung software next time.

EE blocking updates on 7 Plus?

Just swap over my Sim from EE to O2 after reading something on reddit, then checked for updates and by magic there it is May Security Update 2.22A
I originally side-loaded 8.1 few days ago but was still on the April security with no update.
Now i have a feeling EE got some agreement in place with Nokia & other Android vendors over updates if using an EE sim you basically wait like the contract phones for updates, if this being the case then it goodbye EE and move back to Three.
What your thoughts on this?

I have the same problem with EE. But I am still on 8.0 and Feb security patch. BTW how did you update to 8.1, I tried via VPN as suggested by Nokia support but it didn't work.

Head here reg your phone and download the downgrade from Android P which is 8.1.
https://www.nokia.com/en_int/phones/developer
Now easiest way to install it without using ADB is to put it on the phone storage & install from SD in the recovery menu, you might get some error's after it's installed but don't worry about these 8.1 will be fully and error free on your phone, then you need another sim other than EE then you receive the May update or you could try another sim first and see if the 8.1 with may patch shows up.
Edit
also forgot to mention on 8.1 you can enable wifi calling on EE something you cant do on 8.0.

I can confirm also. After swapping Sim, I've got v2.22A
I installed the 8.1 ROM (via ADB) on my TA-1055 last week. Just swapped out my EE SIM for a Three SIM and the May security update was available. I then switched back to the EE SIM and it disappeared. Switched back to Three again and have now upgraded successfully.
Edit: I just realised that EE are now selling the Nokia 7 Plus, so I guess they're blocking / delaying updates until they've completed their own testing.
I'm on ID (Carphone Warehouse's network) and they too are blocking the update.

Could this be the reason for delay?
Do they have to add something to the firmware to enable it?
I am on Three in Ireland and I do not have any option in settings for WIFI calling.
I'm on Plusnet Mobile which piggy backs on EE and have seen no updates since I purchased my phone on release day......
Took my SIM out yesterday, replaced with on old O2 one and rebooted - hey presto 3 updates downloaded over wifi and installed. Everything now working with my Plusnet SIM on 8.1 June security
I'm BT sim and no update. I removed sim, factory reset and got 2 updates via wifi with May security. Put in BT sim and a few days later got the June security upate.
Don't understand that as the carrier should have no influence on updates on this phone as they come direct from Google because this is an Android One phone. I can understand if the phone is from EE (I.e. on contract) as I have an LG G6 contract phone which has had no updates from Nougat and only 1 security update in Jan .

same experience here
1055 uk. plusnet network SIM . bought phone via John Lewis. EE app was instaled on phone
changed to not working SIM fro freedompop and 3 upates immediately. including june security patch
So what happens when you put the EE sim back in and EE finally issue the update?

US Cellular Note 9 no longer updating on AT&T?

Back in July I got a steal on a new US Cellular Galaxy Note 9, so I immediately threw my iPhone 6S SIM card into it and went through several rounds of software updates. After the last update the splash screen switched to AT&T and it suddenly had several AT&T apps. It didn't TOTALLY eliminate the US Cellular stuff because I had to delete at least one app and change the Samsung browser's default home page.
Due to the iPhone SIM card and some stuff on AT&T's side, it would not do VoLTE or WiFi calling until I got a new SIM and had AT&T use the IMEI from an AT&T Galaxy Note 9 (read it off one from the store). I did that in late August and the only remaining issue O noticed was that my MMS messages will not download as long as I am on WiFi.
I just noticed what may be a new issue: I think I stopped getting carrier updates. Looking on AT&T's site, I see that they have multiple newer updates with the latest from September 18th:
https://www.att.com/devicehowto/tut...tep_KM1278532?make=Samsung&model=SamsungN960U
My "Security Patch Level" says May 1, 2019, while AT&T's website says that there have been 4 updates since then (latest at Security Patch Level September 1, 2019).
My baseband version doesn't quite match any of the ones associated with AT&T updates, though their May 22nd update seems to be the most similar (AT&T's N960USQS1CSE1 compared with my N960USQU1CSE3).
I recall that the new phone updated multiple times and was still on Oreo before it updated again to Pie, and again to AT&T-flavored Pie. I figure the final update was really just adding the AT&T apps and splash screen, but it somehow stopped me from getting further updates from US Cellular. I'm pretty sure I had an AT&T SIM card inserted for all of my updates.
On that note, I believe I tossed the original SIM and US Cellular does not operate in my region (only showed up here through a salvage store). I'm not easily able to get another US Cellular SIM for triggering it to revert to a US Cellular ROM. I'm not interested in custom ROMs and all that and ultimately just want to keep my phone up to date the same way a normal AT&T customer would after buying theirs from AT&T. I thought the Note 9 adding carrier customizations to match the inserted SIM would take care of all this automatically (half the point, right?) but I guess I was wrong.
Is it possible to get carrier updates like I was getting before? If not, what would you guys recommend for getting up to date and staying up to date? Thanks!

I'll check it out when I get back to my PC. Thanks! I assume it's something I need to flash with Odin?
