Hello,
I'm not sure I'm in the most appropriate section but this point is rather "transversal".
It was reported in this thread "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=451634" that prpmlp managed to get audio out from usb connector to work on thouch hd using the diamond drivers and headphones.
This point was not developed further and I think it shall be discussed.
Mini jack is for sure a good thing but audio out on connector is also of interest when hd is docked for charge or in car for exemple. This could avoid to have 2 cables to put in.
The diamond drivers was not provided. Did anyone tried this already with success ?
I think extracting the drivers from a Diamond Rom is not a problem at all, I will give it a try later on.
i have fiio e7 and want to connect it to my HD2
what ROM supports USB OTG. The 3.5mm connection is boring
Thanks
It probably won't work with any Android device without proper drivers.
urgh...

i thought jellybean support this out off the box
i dont understand can someone please explain... how and why?
thanks
So, it should work if the kernel has USB Audio support. Ask people who make the USB Host kernel if it does (and give them this link), and if the answer is yes, it should work.
Has anyone successfully paired a USB DAC to the Nexus 6? I know Android 5.0 is supposed to have USB audio support, but 4.4 was too and that didn't work natively on the Nexus 5.
I'm looking into getting the FiiO E18 but want to know if it will actually work without having to install Cyanogen.
I haven't tried my E17 with my phone before, but now you have me curious... I think I need a usb2go cable too, right?
Hey All,
I'm trying to get my N6 >> OTG >> DAC setup working.
Previously, I was using a Note 4 and this worked just fine. Exact same setup.
On the N6, I'm not getting anything; no output. I'm using USB Audio Player Pro and it does not detect the USB audio device that is my DAC. If I use Neutron or Google Music, it just out rights output to the N6 speakers.
I had a split second of success when using a USB hub that was externally powered, but it stops after a second of audio. If I go straight from the N6 to DAC, I get nothing.
Everything is pointing me to the lack of power output from the N6. I suspect the Note 4 provides more amps?
I found a reddit thread that said they disabled USB charging somehow and had success, but they didn't elaborate on how it was done.
Any help and feedback us much appreciated!
Maybe the fact that the Nexus 6 is not host (OTG) - compatible can help you ?
I don't know how you can make it OTG-compatible, but if you have a way to do this, I would like to know it
USB Audio Player pro works just fine playing 192kHz Flac files through my AudioQuest FireFly, not sure why youre having issues....
I've tested with and Audioengine D1 and a JDS Labs ODAC. Both failing. OTG works, because I can connect USB mouse and USB storage just fine.
Samsung's give out much more power than Nexus devices. Samsung can power a mechanical hdd via OTG where as the nexus generally can't.
Is this something specific to Samsung hardware? Surely, there must be a way on the Nexus. It's essentially a battery and a USB port.

It was originally specific to Samsung. The S3 was the first device able to power a USB HDD.. Whether more devices can now or not, I cannot say.
That's not to say every device that needs power won't work, just those that need more power. I'm sure other usb dac devices work.. Whether yours needs more power than those, I dont know.
like I said, its working for me...so it could be the DACs you have require more power than the NX6 puts out, or maybe it just doesnt like the OTG cable you are using. try another that you know works

With that theory, I should be able to power any DAC using a powered USB (dedicated source) as a buffer. This worked momentarily for the Audioengine D1, but then it is cut-off. I've read somewhere that some DACs will try and detect if the power is from a "self-powered" source. Not sure where I'm going with this as I don't expect a work around. Just wanted to mention that note.

Try with a powered otg cable. Like this; http://www.amazon.com/Micro-Cable-Player-Samsung-Galaxy/dp/B00CXAC1ZW
One plug to charger, one plug to phone, device in the last.

Just where did you come up with that absurd idea?
While the factory firmware is not configured to mount a usb disk, the device and kernel are both most definitely otg ready.
I've ordered a view different cables to test. Hopefully they will come soon.
Just connected my Fiio E17 headphone amp/DAC using OTG cable via the USB port using, USB audio player PRO software and found it's not working properly.
For some reason the Fiio isn't detecting the correct bit rate or sampling frequency. For every track I select I only get 48khz/16bit, yet when I use my HTC One M9 I get the correct settings displayed.
I confess to knowing very little of the technicalities surrounding the mobile phone world but I'm willing to learn if it helps resolve this issue and any help resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.
