So, I looked on the Amazon website and I saw that true system software known as "5.4.0.1" wasn't available for download, so I assume we can officially downgrade from that version, no higher, only 5.4.0.0. Fire OS 5.5 probably won't work.

Hi,
I've been looking on the internet for information on updating my Memopad HD7 to Android 4.4, but am still unsure if it can be safely done or not.
I bought mine a year ago (july 2014), and I have not received any official OTA updates, I'm still on original version 4.2.2
asus support let me know via email (I'll translate into english):
"Asus only support the os software until a year after the warranty has expired
In this case your device will not receive any updates anymore from the Android OS"
This raises even more questions to me.
Some people have been getting new android versions on their memopad (e.g. here:
Anyway, to cut a long story short, can I safely update my me173x (memopad hd 7) to kitkat 4.4? Where do I get the necessary files. And where do I find a reliable documentation on how to do it. Does this look like a reliable source (article is from 2013...):
Thanks for all your wisdom.
Tom.
Well, Im sorry to say but the asus memo pad hd7 doesnt receive anymore software updates and there isnt any custom rom with android kitkat or higher...
I really dislike this new interface on my HDX 8.9. Any way to downgrade to a version prior to the upgrade?

Has not been demonstrated. Risk of bricking if v4/v5 bootloaders are incompatible or contain anti-rollback protection. Suggest contacting Amazon.
Edit: Wrong forum for HDX devices (but answer remains the same).
Yeah, took me 20 mins to get Amazon to assimilate that I wanted to downgrade and not upgrade.....hard work. I gave up on them!
Hello
I got an amazon tablet. The options in the device will be called 'Fire 7 (7th Generation). The system is Fire OS version 5.4.0.1 (13 August 2017). The back of the device is shown on the back: SR043KL.
I would like to change the language in it and get rid of built-in apps by installing cyanogenmod (or something similar). To do root I tried to use: kingroot, kingo android rot, oneclickroot and so on.
I also looked here in the forum but I can not really deal with it. Is there something you can do with this version of the system?
As of now anything 5.3.2.1 and later cannot be rooted, nor downgraded to a rootable version, sorry.

Amazon return period is 30 days; might be a good option.
Hi, does anyone have a link location to download FireOS 5.4.0.0 / FireOS 5.4.0.1 for Fire HD 10.1 (7th gen)? I'm currently updated to 5.6.0.0 and wanted to downgrade to FireOS 5.4.0.0.
I managed to snag a few 10.1 on the FireOS 5.4.0.0 and was able to use the Bloatware removal tool.
Thank you and much appreciated

Downgrading often bricks fire tablets (at least the 2017 models). I believe 5.6 in particular cannot be downgraded, and attempting it may break your tablet.

One must be cognizant of which models can be safely downgraded and to which builds. There are claims 7th and 8th gen models can be successful rolled back from 5.6.0.0 to 5.4.0.0 via 5.4.0.1. I have seen no similar claims for HD 10s.
As for firmware you will need to look elsewhere as this forum is for 5th/7th gen Fire 7 models only. The HD8/10 forum would be a good starting point.

thank you for the info. and sorry, didn't realize I was in the wrong forum.
will read up more there.
Some of the Android One updates made available are full images, not just an OTA.
Is there a full (non-OTA) Android One pie image available? I've found the instructions to flash a late 8.1 image then the pie OTA but I was still curious.
I think I saw one for retail but I'd like to stay on Android One in case Motorola decides they don't want to support the X4 anymore.

Check the Lolinet repository, I think there is an XT 1900-1_Paytom-FI_9.0_PPW29.69_26 (proj.Fi) firmware there:

Oh that was perfect, thanks!
Should that URL be added to the list of stock ROM hosts at the bottom of the FAQ? It seems very complete...
Did you read the FAQ thread? Two links there already but added this one as well.
