Dark Google Messenger? - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

Does anyone have a way to get Dark Google messenger either with overlay, or modified APK. I've tried overlays, but they aren't working for it. And can't find an APK.

Get Substraum, get Swift Dark, apply overlay for Google Messenger (I assume you mean Android Messages), and restart the app.

Update from tonight's Googling:
Google Play v3.10.9
Gmail 4.2
AOSP style message app apparently this mod still converts messages to MMS..
Google Now - edit: sorted: here's the thread. Note: There's also an inverted Dark Horse theme but I don't want the Dark Horse theming, don't like the navy blue and the way the yellow is used
Dark Samsung keyboard with blue outline
Whatsapp - edit: sorted, here's the thread
Google search "rujelus22" . Fully themed apps, and you can flash all at once in a zip.
That guy is awesome!

Thanks - helpful link. But they don't seem to be up-to-date. For example, the FB app is still the old, heavy version from before they optimised it. Haven't tried the others but with FB being old I'm expecting the same with the other apps. Here's the full list from his site.
Edit: So far (as of 13 Dec 2012) Dropbox, Es File Explorer, Google+ and Google Drive are up-to-date.. haven't tested the others. So this is good news, the apps seem to be up-to-date

Share Externally, Facebook and Facebook Messenger apk, 7.0

Hey, guys. While using Facebook and Facebook Messenger apk, when I try to share externally and select the Messenger apk, I receive "Messenger failed to load attachment." I'm currently on Lite 7.0, and I've tried another stock 7.0 ROM. Same issue. I've tried to uninstall the apk, cleared the data within Messenger apk, and have even tried to clear all device cache. Anyone else have this issue and know how to fix it? Thanks!
fix it???
solution.. remove anything facebook from the device
(just kidding, i just hate facebook on any of my devices, or anything related to)
Yeah, I know a lot of people are anti FB. I like it. Use it daily. And don't mind the cons. Just want it to function properly, lol.

dont mind me, i was just reflecting on my opinion of the app from a few years ago. have you checked if that function works for others btw?
It's borked in the latest beta also so..........
Sharing to Messenger using other apk works. Photos, G+. So, it does appear to be the FB apk on 7.0 then. I didn't have this happen on NP5.

maybe they just have to fix it for 7.0, but that would be on facebooks side.

System believes facebook messenger is installed but it isn't

Hey there!
I wanted facebook and facebook messenger apps with a dark theme and since it is not in the original versions I was looking for a solution and found this:
themefoxx.com/2017/02/dark-facebook-app-for-android-facebook-theme-download.html
The regular facebook app works perfectly. None of the apps are with viruses and they are well done. However, I have a problem with the messenger app. I installed it and it worked fine but after a while the app says that I have to update to the current version and I cannot access any conversations. If I click on the update, it will take me to the Play Store and of course I cannot update it because it is not the original messenger app.
I uninstalled the dark theme messenger app.
Entered play.google.com and there it said facebook messenger app is already installed though it is of course not.
So there is a bug that my system thinks it is already installed and hence cannot be installed.
How can I clear something so that the system understands that messenger is not installed and so I can reinstall it again from the Play Store? Seems like it is stuck and thinks messenger is there though the homemade dark theme app is uninstalled and there is no original version either.
Seems the dark theme app version has bugged the system so some data/cache somewhere needs to be cleared but I have no idea how to fix this.
I have a P20 Pro with latest Android 9 Pie.
Thanks!

I got google apps in dark mode!

I know many of you are eager to enable as much apps as possible in to dark mode, but Google apps need a system wide "switch" in order to do so. I managed to get the system-wide dark mode running an almost all Google apps. First of all my play store version was not 16.9.10 so I uninstalled play store updates, then clicked on play store version to push it to update itself and then it was 16.9.10. If that doesn't do it for you install that version manually from APK mirror.
Second I enabled dark mode via ADB:
adb shell settings put secure ui_night_mode 2
Third: reboot.
After reboot I got dark play store, google photos, google pay, google drive, etc..
And also Instagram is dark too!
P.S. My Mate 20 Pro is on OS 9.1.0.320 and I have "darken interface colors" enabled since before, but that does not work on Google apps for me.
Thanks, my play store was already the right version.
Entered the ADB command and after a reboot i also got all the apps in dark mode!
Thanks Perfect Bro!!!!
Gmail no dark mode.

I wonder if this will work with a later version of the Play store.

Yes tried it and worked. News Feed, Gmail and Youtube will not change though just like with the older version.

The settings are dark, how can i make it Black? another command? Thank you
Got an Instagram update and now is black.
But I hope Google let us choose between dark Grey and black, because like this is really bad looking, some app black (es istragram) and some grey (like playstore ecc)

This was originally working great, everything spontaneously reverted back to searing-my-eyes mode today. I tried the ADB command again, rebooted and dark mode came back for 1 minute then changed back to light mode again. Any ideas why it isn't sticking?

Don't know why it isn't sticking but try this app to see if it sticks in any way.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=systems.maju.darkmode
Since the latest os update darkmode works in almost all apps by flipping a switch
Installed this app and worked, without adb
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=systems.maju.darkmode
Play store, drive and photos switched to dark mode after enabling it in app.

There is a choice
get Google and no Notification or Get Notification but No Google.
If You want notification Then Install MicoG with Vanced Manager, This is the best option and easy to install
