I use a Creative Labs Soundblaster E3.
Fantastic sound for me but I am by no measure a serious audiophile. Also very versatile... I can connect using the 3.5mm headphone jack, USB connector or Bluetooth.
https://www.megatechnews.com/megate...d-blaster-e3-usb-dac-and-headphone-amplifier/
It's the middle ground of the Soundblaster range as they also make the E1 (entry level) and E5 (flagship).

[Q] Micro USB to digital audio out adapter?

I was if Note is able to output "digital" audio signal via it's micro usb port. So, it can connect to a external DAC for better processing. Has anyone tried this or know where I can buy adapter for this purpose?

There has been some discussion in using an MHL HDMI adaptor and then an HDMI to digital out, like TOSLINK/OPTICAL. A bit clunky. The HMDI must output digital audio. I would like to see someone try it and report. I've found the sound quality a bit crappy.
Try playing a FLAC file as opposed to MP3. Really not worth bothering with MP3 if you are looking at an external DAC.
So I found this
Expensive but its an HDMI to headphone amp. 24/192k 110dB
Some newer HTav amps have HDMI input, would love to see someone hook up a note to one and report on audio quality!
and this. Bit cheaper, but if anyone has one, rip it open and tell us what the chips are!
The s3 has usb audio support. Check it out over in the S3 forums or google it. only certain usb dacs are Supported hopefully it will be ported to the Note! if you have ICS, root and a usb audio device you could check dmesg output. Can't post links from my phone. I read about the glandos kernel that might be worth looking at. Its some exciting development.

dac converter

Has anyone used a dac converter to get better audio out?
Change your kernel first (Perseus or Neak for example) , they have implement better audio driver with the possibility to play with parameters of the good embedded audio Wolfson chip.
PBJ kernel also allows voodoo sound, which I've been using since I had my fascinate

Try the usb cable and feed it directly to a respectable DAC/AMP.
yes, fiio e7, odac and basically and usb 2 dac work great. You just need an OTG cable
If I may ask, what is this voodoo sound everyone is talking about?
Sent from my Galaxy Note²
what is voodoo? Do I use odin to flash the kernel? what else will it change on my phone? reliability issues?
Voodoo sound is a kernel module that takes advantage of our phone's Wolfson DAC to optimize sound.

or scoobydoo sound in perseus kernel does the same as voodoo sound

I bought a OTG cable and the new fiio e07k but i don't get any sound out of the DAC. I used a app like USBAudioRecorder and the phone sees the fiio DAC but when i USE any of my music apps no sound.
I even tested the OTG cable by connecting an mouse to it and it worked. DOes any one have any ideas what I could be doing wrong. I am using a custom rom Liquid smooth, but I have tried Clean Rom and other to no success

USB-C Audio

I just ordered this phone and am waiting for it to come in, but was wondering if USB-C Audio works. I'm moving from an iPhone 7 to this and was hoping it would so that I can use it the same way with my in-car head unit as I did with just connecting the lightning cable

My brother bought the Huawei P20 and I just plugged in the USB-C headphones and they work. And that very well.
Yes. I have simple USB-C CDLA earphones and they work.
Anyone using a DAC with it?

Oh awesome, any idea if that would apply to being used with an in-car head unit? Kinda like how you can plug an iPhone into a lightning cable and it'll route the audio that way I assume it would if it works with earphones

Is there a certain standard I should be looking for? I tried using a Creative sound card / DAC with my old phone and it detected it as a keyboard.

Does Asus ROG phone 2 support digital audio via any on its USB Type C ports?

I was just wondering if the phone supports audio out via USB Type C. As the side USB supports variety of devices to be connected. Can a headset be connected to it?
Or can it be enabled somehow?

Wrong, just tried a pair of USB Type C headset with bottom port and my Rog phone 2 recognized the headset directly and gave me headset icon in status bar.
Even side port works as well.
So either your adapter is broken or you got defect Rog phone 2.

I have a fast charge usb c to 3.5mm from amazon that I used to use for my pixel 3 xl.
I just tried it on the asus and it seems to be working fine on the bottom charging port!
I tried with a passive adapter (so no integrated DAC) and it doesn't work.

Yeah Sure. its kind of expensive at $25 though.

I'm sure the e3.5mm to usb-c adapter from the pixel phones will work as well

its out of stock but thank you. pixel one cost 20$ here in india, does the oneplus dongle works with rog 2 ? its 5$ only.
They should all work.
Even the ones without the DAC inside should work as well, as they would use the phones internal DAC I'm guessing. I have a few adapters without DAC's in them, I will test it out tomorrow
There are two types of usb c headphone jacks. My Huawei uses the type that connects to analog pins embedded into the USB c slot. Basically it has the connection for a 3.5 jack but no jack. That connection is routed via the USB c port. This type will not work on all phones. The other type is a true usb c device and that will work on every usb c phones. It gets detected using usb protocol.
So be careful when you buy usb c to 3.5 mm jacks.

I have a Huawei usbC headset, no jack, with noise cancelation, and they work on both USB C ports on the rog2, even with the fan

I tested Passive USB-C adapter, the one that comes with essential phone, just pluged it in, got headphone icon
i plug my rog phone 2 in mobile desktop dock. my headset using 2.4ghz usb digital surround is supported.
Type c Port not working
I tried one plus Type C to 3.5 mm connector they didn't work

You didn't tell that rog phone 2 works with type c to 3.5 mm jack adaptor ( without doc) you tried or not
It works. Used DD TC-35 hi-fi dac bought from AliExpress. It doesn't show notification that dac is connected. Only thing you can see is a headphone icon in status bar
i used usb type-c to 3.5mm adapter that provided by asus kunai gamepad and it works fine, the phone detect it and automatically showed headset icon.

Jack Audio - USB C dongle, which one I have to buy?

Hi mates, there are different dongles in the market, some of them are really cheap, others definely not! I've also see schemes, some dongles have internal DAC and amplifer, others just connect some pins of the USB-C to the audio jack. I've lost mine and I've to buy one, which is the right choice?
Thank you

I bought and used Baseus L54. It has an internal DAC, sounds great and everything is working (remote buttons, mic) .
Thank you for your kind answer, just for info, do you exclude adapters without dac and directly connected to usb?
